Ordering homotopy string links over surfaces and a presentation for the generalized string links over surfaces / Ordenando os grupos de homotopia de enlaçamentos de intervalos em supefícies e uma apresentação para os grupos de homotopia de enlaçamentos de intervalos em superfícies

Juliana Roberta Theodoro de Lima 13 October 2014 (has links)
In this work, we prove that the set of link-homotopy classes of generalized string links over a closed, connected and orientable surface M of genus g ≥ 1 form a group, denoted by Bn(M) and we find a presentation for it. Moreover, we prove that its normal subgroup PBnn(M), namely, the homotopy string links over M, is bi-orderable. These results extend results proved by Juan GonzalezMeneses in [GM], [GM2] and Ekaterina Yurasovskaya in [Y], respectively. Also, we obtain an exact sequence for link-homotopy braid groups, which is an extension of [Go, Theorem 1]. / Sem resumo

Examining the Effects of AWGN Jamming on a Tactical Data Link Communication System

Schroen, Noor January 2023 (has links)
This master thesis investigates the jamming of Tactical Data Links (TDLs). The goal is to make a model that is capable of giving an overview of a communication system under jamming conditions, offering the user a suggestion for the best coding scheme and modulation to use in any given situation. Investigation is primarily focused on the High Frequency (HF) band and its accompanying Beyond Line Of Sight (BLOS) capabilities. With this model, time and resources can be saved by eliminating the need to test for these parameters. After this model is made, based on information found on jamming types, the question is asked whether Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) jamming can be approximated in a simpler way, specifically by looking at the results of an un-jammed system with a higher noise floor. Results show that for fast switching pulsed jammers this is possible, but there is a dependency on the modulation used. For slow switching jammers, this is not possible. The model presented can later be used as a basis to answer more operational questions.

On one hand it is demanded that we build a competent clinical strategy regarding the prevention and treatment, capable of handling the community issues, on the other hand, mental health is still haunted by the figure of the professional focused on individual assistance, in a closed room unit, at the mercy of referrals. Trying to escape from reference s scheme and cross-reference and under or over recovery of mental-health clinic, we sought in this work, based on the construction of clinical narratives, given from the development of the clinical research s method in Fundamental Psychopathology, to understand "how?" to make a consistent clinical strategy, but flexible and open at the same time, before the problems that arise in the mental health field, in this case, bringing as context a unit of the Family Health Program and a Judicial Asylum, both located in cities in the state of Sao Paulo. We worked on the trajectory of these patients and the path followed by the clinician in these cases, focusing primarily a networking and co-responsibility / São muitas as questões que envolvem a clínica em saúde mental, desde a incorporação dos serviços até a maneira como estes devem ser oferecidos.

Mot effektiv identifiering och insamling avbrutna länkar med hjälp av en spindel / Towards effective identification and collection of broken links using a web crawler

Anttila, Pontus January 2018 (has links)
Today, the customer has no automated method for finding and collecting broken links on their website. This is done manually or not at all. This project has resulted in a practical product, that can be applied to the customer’s website. The aim of the product is to ease the work when collecting and maintaining broken links on the website. This will be achieved by gathering all broken links effectively, and place them in a separate list that at will can be exported by an administrator who will then fix these broken links. The quality of the customer’s website will be higher, as all broken links will be easier to find and remove. This will ultimately give visitors a better experience.

Les invariants de Links-Gould comme généralisations du polynôme d’Alexander / The Links-Gould invariants as generalizations of the Alexander polynomial

Kohli, Ben-Michael 23 November 2016 (has links)
In this thesis we focus on the connections that exist between two link invariants: first the Alexander-Conway invariant ∆ that was the first polynomial link invariant to be discovered, and one of the most thoroughly studied since alongside with the Jones polynomial, and on the other hand the family of Links-Gould invariants LGn,m that are quantum link invariants derived from super Hopf algebras Uqgl(n|m). We prove a case of the De Wit-Ishii-Links conjecture: in some cases we can recover powers of the Alexander polynomial as evaluations of the Links-Gould invariants. So the LG polynomials are generalizations of the Alexander invariant. Moreover we give evidence that these invariants should still have some of the most remarkable properties of the Alexander polynomial: they seem to offer a lower bound for the genus of links and a criterion for fiberedness of knots.

BUSINESS INTEGRATION AS BASIS FOR GROWTH IN SMALL AND MEDIUM AGRICULTURAL ENTERPRISES

van Buuren, Rudolph B. January 2008 (has links)
Published Article / Increased diversity in the agricultural sector in South Africa is forcing farmers to focus on the production of value-added commodities in the face of mounting global competitive pressures. However, many farmers, by operating individually, are unable to expand operations to the scale necessary to become involved in value-adding processing. This requires too much capital, skills, and time. By pooling resources and forming integrated small and medium sized agricultural enterprises even small producers can enter the processing arena successfully. This paper focuses on the specific driving forces, pitfalls and strategies that agricultural SMEs need to pursue in order to survive.

The Family of Interoperable Range System Transceivers (First)

Cameron, Alan, Cirineo, Tony, Eggertsen, Karl 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 28-31, 1996 / Town and Country Hotel and Convention Center, San Diego, California / The objective of the FIRST project is to define a modern DoD Standard Datalink capability. This defined capability or standard is to provide a solution to wide variety of test and training range digital data radio communications problems with a common set of components, flexible to fit a broad range of applications, yet be affordable in all of them. This capability is to be specially designed to meet the expanding range distances and data transmissions rates needed to test modern weapon systems. Presently, the primary focus of the project is more on software, protocols, design techniques and standards, than on hardware development. Existing capabilities, on going developments and emerging technologies are being investigated and will be utilized as appropriate. Modern processingintensive communications technology can perform many complex range data communications tasks effectively, but a large-scale development effort is usually necessary to exploit it to its full potential. Yet, range communications problems are generally of limited scope, so different from one another that a communication system applicable to all of them is not likely to solve any of them well. FIRST will resolve that dilemma by capitalizing on another feature of modern communications technology: its high degree of programmability. This can enable custom-tailoring of datalink operation to particular applications, just as a PC can be tailored to perform a multitude of diverse tasks, through appropriate selection of software and hardware components.

Graphicacy within the secondary school curriculum : an exploration of continuity and progression of graphicacy in children aged 11 to 15

Danos, Xenia January 2012 (has links)
Graphicacy is the fundamental human capability of communicating through still images. Graphicacy has been described as the fourth ace within education, alongside literacy, numeracy and articulacy. However, it has been neglected, both within education and the research field. This thesis investigates graphicacy and students learning, structured around 3 objectives: establishing what graphicacy is and how it is used in the school curriculum; demonstrating the wider significance of design and technology teaching and learning by collecting evidence of the importance of graphicacy across the curriculum; and establishing how the abilities to understand and create images affect students learning. A literature review was conducted focused on three areas. Firstly, identifying the meaning of graphicacy, elements contained within it and relevant prior studies including its use in different subject areas and image use within teaching. This formed the foundations for a new taxonomy of graphicacy. Secondly, the levels of drawing and developmental stages children go through were investigated and the need for further research on children s abilities aged 11 to 14 was identified. The well balanced arguments concerning the nature versus nurture debates are described. Thirdly, the methodology used to measure graphicacy, and map the results to reflect levels of different competencies were reviewed. A naturalistic and often opportunistic approach was followed in this research. The research methodology was based on the analysis of textbooks and later, on research within practice. The research included the development, validation and use of the taxonomy of graphicacy; case studies in Cyprus, the USA and England on identifying graphicacy use across the curriculum; and the creation of continuity and progression descriptors through the analysis of students work. This work covered: rendering, perspective drawing, logo designing, portrait drawing and star profile charts. Research methodologies developed and implemented for conducting co-research and the Delphi studies are also described. Through interviews with experts, the taxonomy was validated as an appropriate research tool to enable the identification of graphicacy use across the curriculum. These research studies identified links between design and technology and all other subject-areas studied. Similar patterns of graphicacy use were identified across 3 schools, one in Cyprus, USA and the UK. Photographs were the most commonly used graphicacy element across all subject areas studied. Design and technology within England was found to use the widest variety of graphicacy elements, providing evidence towards research objective 3; establishing how the ability to understand and create images affects students learning. Continuity and progression (CaP) descriptors were created for each area covered by this research. The success of the CaP descriptors relied on the technical complexity involved in the creation of each image. Some evidence was found concerning the limits of natural development and how nurture can further develop graphicacy skills. In addition, co-research as a methodology, its limitations and potentials are identified.
