[en] This thesis aims to analyze the rights violations involving the religious public use in the Tijuca National Park. The thesis focus on Pentecostal rituals of black people and on the consequently resisting process, considering the context of capitalist (re)production and appropriation of urban space. From semi-structured interviews and directed observation of Pentecostal practices, the thesis examines the legitimation of the class and race division, verifying the effects on public use at National Park of Tijuca. It interprets, under the point of view of blacks, the types of production of absences, negligences, disqualification and stigmatization of religiosity by the silence, the oppression and marginalization employed by the State. Finally, it carries out a critical reading on the initiatives and movements of the capitalist production, revealing the diversity of spiritual and social experiences of the Pentecostals who seek to resignify their ways of life and identities by faith and by the action.

[pt] CLASSES DE PALAVRAS - DA GRÉCIA ANTIGA AO GOOGLE: UM ESTUDO MOTIVADO PELA CONVERSÃO DE TAGSETS / [en] PART OF SPEECH - FROM ANCIENT GREECE TO GOOGLE: A STUDY MOTIVATED BY TAGSET CONVERSIONLUIZA FRIZZO TRUGO 10 November 2016 (has links)
gramaticais (POS, do inglês part of speech ). Especificamente, a
no âmbito do projeto Universal Dependencies (UD).
[en] The present dissertation, Part of speech — from Ancient Greece to
Google: a study motivated by tagset conversion, is a linguistic study
regarding gramatical word classes. This research is motivated by a specific
task from Computational Linguistics: the annotation of part of speech
(POS). Specifically, this dissertation reports the challenges and linguistic
options arising from the task of aligning two tagsets: the first used in the
annotation of the Mac-Morpho corpus — a Brazilian corpus with 1.1
million words — and the second proposed by Google research lab, which
has been used in the context of the Universal Dependencies (UD) project.
The present work adopts the annotation of large corpora as methodology
and focuses mainly on the alignment of the past participle forms. As a
result, in addition to the study and the documentation of the linguistic
choices, this research provides a scenario which enables the study of the
impact different tagsets have on Natural Language Processing (NLP)
systems and presents another Portuguese NLP resource: the Mac-Morpho
corpus annotated with project UD s tagset and consistent with its annotation
philosophy, thus enabling future studies regarding the impact of different
tagsets in the automatic processing of a language.

[en] MEANING OF HOMEOWNERSHIP FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS IN THE MRV DISCOURSE / [pt] SIGNIFICADOS DA CASA PRÓPRIA PARA A CLASSE MÉDIA NO DISCURSO DA CONSTRUTORA MRVFELIPE CERQUEIRA DE LACERDA 17 October 2016 (has links)
[en] In recent years, there has been remarkable growth of the Brazilian middle class consumption provided to this class greater access in buying a home. The acquisition of a home is a dream of consumption of this social stratum and has great symbolic connotation. MRV construction company, leader in the real estate segment for the middle class, with an emphasis on real estate supply to the first consumer flat profile, stands out for its communication strategies and their advertising discourse. In this context, this paper aims to identify the meanings that home ownership plays in the builder MRV discourse in their digital channels. To do this, we analyzed a corpus of twenty videos produced by MRV Company and published on his YouTube channel between January and November 2015. The research approach was qualitative and exploratory, using verbal and visual textual analysis of the corpus and content analysis techniques. The videos were classified into four themes, namely: Sale of New Ventures, Delivery of the Keys, Customer Life Stories MRV and Institutional. The study results showed that in the discourse examined the house itself takes on different meanings, such as: holding, identity, independence, security and belonging. Based on the axiology of consumption values proposed by J.M.Floch semiotician such meanings reveal the prevalence of practical, critical and utopian values on the MRV discourse.

[en] This study analyses how poor women – working as cleaning ladies at a private university at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – organize their life, social and work experiences in life story narratives. In recent times, the Humanities and Social Science have become increasingly more interested in narrative studies as action in the social world, in processes of identity construction. In this sense, the data, produced in interview situation, were analyzed based on a qualitative and interpretative methodology, from a socio-interactional discourse perspective. The analysis uses labovian categories in order to identify narrative episodes, focusing on evaluative resources, and observes, from the narrative/identity performances of the women interviewed, the meanings constructed in (re)telling past experiences, current situations or future or hypothetical projections. Thus, the narratives studied have made it possible to observe some dimensions of the world of the women interviewed and how they construct meanings and connections with regards to their lives (family and education) and jobs. In this world, the life experiences are presented with very little access to education and to the family support, which is reflected in the women’s identity constructions. The family’s role is crucial in the process of organizing meanings. Children help these women to tolerate the hardness and the humiliation in/from their job. Their identity constructions are based on their experiences of motherhood and the hope of a better life.

[en] SUPPORT NOUNS: OPERATIONAL CRITERIA FOR CHARACTERIZATION / [pt] O SUBSTANTIVO-SUPORTE: CRITÉRIOS OPERACIONAIS DE CARACTERIZAÇÃOCLAUDIA MARIA GARCIA MEDEIROS DE OLIVEIRA 06 March 2007 (has links)
irregularidade. / [en] The main goal of this work is to provide operational
criteria for
characterizing nouns in Noun - Adjective combinations, in
which the noun
occurs in an analogous way to so called light verbs or
support verbs, widely
studied in recent years in both Linguistics and Natural
Language Processing.
In the work, linguistic, lexicographic and computational
studies converge in
order to explore the potential for automatic analysis of
corpora, whose aim
is to provide quantitative tools and methods which would
lead to a more
objective way of establishing concepts which underlie
linguistic analysis.
The work unites corpus-based research with traditional
lexicography in
order to elicit the main properties of the N-Adj
combinations occurring
with denominal adjectives. The lexicographic and
contextual data reveal
the existence of a set of nouns that occur in the studied
constructions
in a way similar to light verbs in V-Noun phrasal
combinations. An
automatic method for recognizing support nouns in texts is
developed, which
will provide language specialists with an instrument
capable of bringing
solid evidence to add to intuitive judgments in the task
of justifying the
delimitation of expressions that are apparently irregular

[en] CONSUMPTION HISTORIES AND SOCIAL ILLUSIONS: DEPARTMENT STORES, SHOPPING CENTERS, AND MIDDLE CLASSES / [pt] HISTÓRIAS DE CONSUMO E ILUSÕES SOCIAIS: GRANDES MAGAZINES, SHOPPING CENTERS E CLASSES MÉDIASWILLIAM DE ALMEIDA CORBO 25 May 2018 (has links)
Vamos
e temas relacionados à economia e à produção, as experiências e sensibilidades
entendimento do capitalismo. / [en] This thesis examines the relation between consumption dynamics and the
formation of middle classes, through the study of two important historical
experiences of capitalism: the unveiling of the great magazines in the European
urban centers between the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the
20th century; the rise of the malls at the north-american suburbs in mid-20th century.
In a more specific manner, the thesis aims to analyze the ways through which these
expanding consumption movements pushed the recruitment of social groups and
their getting closer to the world of goods and, in this process, generated images,
ideas and representations of consumer middle classes. The thesis will consider the
particularities of those experiences, explore the characteristics of their contexts and
observe the maintenance of their projects. The thesis starts from the premise that
consumption is a central element in the modern-contemporary culture and,
therefore, the study of its logics, structures and meanings can contribute to
understanding the values and ideologies that orient our social lives. In an exercise
of historical anthropology, this thesis aims to highlight that, beyond the questions
and themes related to economy and production, the experiences and sensibilities
connected to the culture, to the symbolic and to the universe of consumption may
also provide ideas, present discoveries and decipher fundamental structures to the
understanding of capitalism.

[en] SYMBOLIC CONSUMPTION OF HOUSING AND LEISURE IN MULTI-FAMILY CONDOMINIUMS OF THE MY HOME MY LIFE PROGRAM / [pt] CONSUMO SIMBÓLICO DE MORADIA E LAZER EM CONDOMÍNIOS MULTIFAMILIARES DO PROGRAMA MINHA CASA MINHA VIDAPAULA ALEXANDRA DE PAIVA NAZARETH GIL 27 July 2017 (has links)
[en] Understanding symbolic consumption is a great challenge both for researchers studying the subject and for companies. Society, in constant change, expresses itself symbolically through consumption. In this work, an attempt was made to analyze the symbolic consumption of housing and leisure in multi-family condominiums of the Minha Casa Minha Vida Program, based on the theoretical assumptions of the CCT - Consumer Culture Theory. The studies based on this perspective started about 20 years ago, being therefore still recent and with vast field for its exploration. The object of study is the ownership of a home and the leisure offered in multifamily residential condominiums, seeking to obtain a deeper understanding of the trend, during the last two decades, of building residential buildings with leisure options in Brazil. The informants are consumers that belong to the Brazilian emerging middle class. A qualitative study was carried out, and in-depth interviews conducted with real estate buyers of the Minha Casa Minha Vida Program, which allowed the mapping of the meanings they assigned to the property and to the leisure areas. Qualitative content analysis was used as a method of data analysis and the categories of analysis used emerged from the field. The results indicate that the dwelling itself has meanings of achievement, passage, independence, security, pride and sacred value attributed to the good. Concerning leisure in multi-family condominiums, meanings related to safety, home extension, socialization and quality of life were identified.

[pt] Este trabalho teve por objetivo descrever, analisar e
discutir
lado, e a Lingüística
de orientação funcionalista, de outro. Para tal, mapeamos
tipologias encontradas
buscamos identificar as principais classes semânticas
recursos distribuídos Linguateca/Frases PB), e analisamos
os resultados
comparando as duas classificações quanto aos seguintes
critérios: (a) abrangência;
(b) explicitude; e (c) adequação aos propósitos norteadores
(normativo-didáticos
ou teórico-descritivos). Tendo em vista tais critérios,
apontamos vantagens e
destacamos alguns
problemas enfrentados igualmente na tradição gramatical e
na lingüística
funcionalista no que tange a caracterização do
comportamento semântico dos
advérbios. / [en] This work aims to describe, analyze and discuss
comparatively semantic
typologies of adverbs proposed in two srands of linguistic
studies: Traditional
Grammar on the one hand and Functional Linguistics on the
other. For that, we
analyzed and mapped typologies found in a representative
set of Portuguese
traditional grammars as well as in an equally significant
sample of funtictionally-oriented
Brazilian linguistic studies. Two typological schemes were
proposed to
represent the two approaches, identifying the main semantic
categories established
in each one of them. These two classification instruments
were then applied to the
analysis of a corpus of Portuguese authentic sentences (an
excerpt from the corpus
made availble by Linguateca/Frases PB). The classifications
were analyzed and
compared according to the following criteria: a) range; b)
explicitude; c)
suitability to purposes (didactic-normative and/or
descriptive-theoretical). Using
these criteria, it was possible to point out relative
advantages and disadvantages in
both types of approach and to expose some problems faced
equally by traditional
grammar and functional linguistics concerning the semantic
behaviour of adverbs.

[en] INEQUALITIES IN THE CENTER OF THE CLEAVED CITY: MEANINGS OF WORK AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE FROM DIFFERENT SOCIAL CLASSES / [pt] DESIGUALDADES NO CENTRO DA CIDADE PARTIDA: SENTIDOS DO TRABALHO ENTRE JOVENS DE DIFERENTES CLASSES SOCIAISDANIEL OSWALDO SANTANA DE SOUZA 12 July 2018 (has links)
[en] This thesis is about the association of economic and social aspects to the meaning of work phenomena. Considered in an articulated way, these aspects enable the observation of the worker as a social agent, through the theoretical perspective of social classes. Pierre Bourdieu s Theory of Social Conditioning stood out as a theoretical lens useful in the consideration of this object of research. Once stablished one specific group of interest – young workers at the Center of Rio de Janeiro City – the research objectives were: a) understand how the meaning of work phenomena happens among young workers from different social classes; b) set back the sources of meaning of work common to each social class; and c) identify the social determinants of the professional field related to each social class. Eighteen in-depth interviews were carried out with young workers who, for the purposes of analysis, were divided into two groups: north zone - concerning less well-off social strata; and south zone - concerning more affluent social strata. In general, the two groups emphasized the perception of work as a form of subsistence. Among the young people from the north zone group, professional activity has a strong moral sense, and among the ones from the south zone group, some hedonistic aspects are related to work, which would also be the performance of a vocation, endowed with a social function of relevance and impact. Work context and the family emerge as categories that explain the sources of the meanings attributed to work for both groups. However, among the subjects from the south zone group, there is a perception that such construction would take place in a reflexive way, being filtered by its own values and beliefs. The primary socialization of the young workers from the north zone group is marked by a considerable fragility of their scholar and familiar experience - in the sense of material provision. In contrast, the subjects from the southern zone group enjoy an axiomatic school experience and broad family support.

[en] VIDEO CLASSES IN HIGH SCHOOL: RELATIONS BETWEEN YOUTH AND TEACHING AND LEARNING IN PRIVATE SCHOOLS / [pt] VIDEOAULAS NO ENSINO MÉDIO: RELAÇÕES ENTRE JUVENTUDE E ENSINO APRENDIZAGEM NAS ESCOLAS PRIVADASFILIPPO CORTEZ GIOVANELLI 03 April 2023 (has links)
Nesta pesquisa as videoaulas
preferências no uso destes recursos.
[en] This dissertation has as object of study video lessons, youth, and high school. It is recognized that
video classes are audiovisual technological resources in the process of expanding their use by young
people associated with the teaching-learning process in high school. Video lessons have been present
for decades, but with the arrival of the internet and platforms such as YouTube, the number of new
videos, as well as views, skyrocketed. In this research, the video classes studied are classes produced
in video format and released on streaming platforms for free. Based on this contact, we question the
role of video lessons in education and how they relate to the objectives of high school, from the
perspectives of the young people who use them. Therefore, this research has as main objective to
understand how video classes are being used by young high school students, analyzing whether they
would be resources used in a complementary way, as a replacement for traditional classes, or as
producers of knowledge. The aim is to answer the questions: How and why are video classes being
used by private school students? What are the preferences and motivations of young students? What
is the meaning of high school? The research was carried out with middle-class young students aged
between 14 and 18, enrolled in high school in four schools of a high-performance private education
network in the ENEM of the city of Rio de Janeiro. A questionnaire with 24 closed questions was
applied among 122 young respondents from the 1st to the 3rd year of this network of schools in
order to analyze the frequency in the use of video classes and preferences in use. They were also
asked about the high school segment and its objectives. In addition, a conversation was held with 12
respondents to the questionnaires to identify what would be the meanings for the school by students
in this network of schools and to problematize some results of the questionnaire in relation to
motivation in the search for video lessons. As theoretical references, studies in the field of sociology
by Dubet, didactics by Candau and Mesquita, studies on youth and school by Carrano and Dayrell,
and the field of media education by Pischetola, Burguess and Green were adopted. From the data
produced, there is a massive visualization of video classes and a diversity of motivations and preferences in the use of these resources. The results pointed to the perception of young people about
a strong pressure for results and the intensity of study as the main justification for the use of
individual studies through video classes, with the good result in the entrance exam and the
preparation for internal tests of the school as drivers of the process teaching-learning. In addition,
when characterizing a good video lesson, young people highlight the appreciation of the
characteristics of objectivity, synthesis, and speed. Students of this generation bring the need for a
faster and more dynamic education, but they also called for interaction, an aspect not very present
in video classes, which led to characterizing them as complementary to face-to-face teaching, in
which the relational dimension is prioritized. Students identified high school as a stage of gaining
maturity and excessive pressure for results. They propose changes, such as the introduction of
