[en] LITERATURE, HISTORY AND ALEXANDRE HERCULANOS LEGENDS E NARRATIVES / [pt] LITERATURA, HISTÓRIA E LENDAS E NARRATIVAS DE ALEXANDRE HERCULANOCARLOS ROBERTO PIRES CAMPOS 29 July 2003 (has links)
ficcional. Grosso modo, concluímos que, em Lendas e
Narrativas, o autor pretendeu conservar a memória
algumas do século posterior.
Narrativas obriga, assim, a reconhecer a produção literária
[en] The main objective of this thesis is to analyse the
historical short stories in Lendas e Narrativas, so as to
demonstrate, from both historical and fictional points of
view, Herculanos attempt to change the Portuguese medieval
period into a cultural inheritance, following the romantic
artistic project. The second objective is to capture the
romantic view of the author, who looked back to medieval
times, in order to build a Portuguese cultural identity.
The investigation is divided into six chapters, each one
emphasizing the function that historical discourse
represents in Herculanos fiction. In the light of
contemporary theories, the seven narratives are analysed
through the discussion of the plots (intrigues), to detect
the peculiarities of each one. The emphasis is on the
dialogue established between the discourses of Literature
and History, within the texts, at the moment of creation.
In broad terms, the research concludes that in Lendas e
Narrativas the author intended to keep the memory of intense
experiences, involving both the Iberian traditions and the
transformation of these traditions, which assume the role
of producer of new elements. This experience constructs the
identity of the basic characteristics of nineteenth century
Portuguese literature and even some characteristics of
literature in the following century.
Reflecting on the question of literary memory in Lendas e
Narrativas thus demands the recognition that literary
production is a system of dialogues, exchanges and
appropriations that are activated by a play of interactive
forces. The diversity of characters in the book makes it
an intricate weave of historical fiction in the tradition
of Walter Scott. The present study intends to contribute to
the recognition of this essential work in Portuguese
Romanticism and, perhaps ambitiously, to open up
perspectives for new research. This continuous movement of
interpreting history, renewing its significance, and
providing it with different interpretations is a pathway to
the discovery of fascinating new readings.

segunda
metade do século XX. O confronto entre os dois poetas
permite identificar características específicas da nação
e
o relacionamento do sujeito com o sistema cultural
brasileiro.
poéticas sob a perspectiva estético-ideológica. Busca-se,
ainda,diferenciá-los pelas respectivas linguagens -
poesia
cultura
híbrida. / [en] The text intends to compare the poets Mario de Andrade e
Caetano Veloso, starting the second as a follower of
cultural identity project started by the first, during the
brazilian modernist wave, and the influences during the
second half of the twenty century. The comparison between
both poets shows the specifics caracteristics of the nation
e the links between the poet and brazilian cultural system.
The several changes in the thoughts of both artists are
shown by the analysis of their poetical producion, under an
estetic and ideological view. The text also tries to
separate the artists throught their own languages - poetry
and music - and discusses the unity between popular and
erudit cultures, which would result in a hibrid culture.

[en] ON CORANULLS FOOTSTEPS: FROM LITERATURE TO LOCAL DEVELOPMENT, IDENTITY AND CULTURE WITH SUGAR AND LITERATURE / [pt] NO RASTRO DE CORA: DA LITERATURA AO DESENVOLVIMENTO LOCAL, IDENTIDADE E CULTURA COM AÇÚCAR E LITERATURAMELISSA CARVALHO GOMES MONTEIRO 08 June 2004 (has links)
A temporalidade deste estudo compreende
novo tratamento acadêmico do conceito desenvolvimento
literatura feminina no cânone literário brasileiro.
culturais locais. / [en] This work deals with the socio-cultural contents of Cora
Coralina s literary work and its relevance to the social
and economic development of the Goi s City during the last
decades. The timeframe comprehends the period that spread
from 1937 to 2001. The research is partially inscribed
within the frame of the Cultural Studies, taken as a base
for the departure of a new academic approach to the concept
sustainable development. Furthermore, the approach adopted
benefits from inputs taken from the field of literary
analysis, including a discussion about feminine literature
within the Brazilian literary cannon. The main concepts
used in the development of this work were: organic
intellectual - taken from Gramsci s work - social and
cultural capitals - taken from the most recent debate
about social development - public and private spheres -
taken from the work of Hannah Arendt and complemented by
the discussion about the female locus within Brazilian
society, taken from Roberto Da Matta s work, who put
forward the concepts house and street and, finally, the
concept cultural identity - as conceived by Denise Fonseca.
The approaching of such a theme demanded an innovative
perspective and a new valorization of the local question
and the cultural legacy, as a response for the weakening of
the national identities, the decline of the social role of
the State and the search for new means to surpass
social inequalities, based on local cultural identities
legacy.

[en] CONVERTING ALL CREATION IN GOD´S HOUSE: NA ETHICAL THEOLOGICAL READING OF THE CAMORIM ECOLOGICAL VOLUNTEERS PROJECT / [pt] CONVERTER TODA A CRIAÇÃO EM CASA DE DEUS: UMA LEITURA ÉTICO-TEOLÓGICA DO PROJETO DE VOLUNTARIADO ECOLÓGICO DO CAMORIMLUCIO FLAVIO RIBEIRO CIRNE 20 June 2005 (has links)
relacional e integradora. Superando dualismos e visões
reducionistas, uma ética
ambiental de inspiração cristã deve integrar compromisso
ecológico e justiça
social, preservação do ambiente natural e respeito ao
ambiente humano.
expresse a visão
A nossa pesquisa consiste no estudo do
Projeto de
Voluntariado Ecológico do Camorim que buscou o
desenvolvimento sustentável
da região, baseado na identidade cultural local. À luz de
pressupostos
perspectiva relacional e
integradora da fé cristã. / [en] Ecotheology is a new field of the theological reflexion.
Environmental
ethics, whose models and approaches do not always have an
integrated vision of
reality, belongs to this field. Human beings and
Environment are not separated
and mutually opposed realities. On the contrary, one cannot
be studied apart
from the other, for they are distinct parts of the same
biotic community that is
organized in a relational and integrated dynamical
structure. In order to
overcome dualisms and reductionist viewpoints, an
Environmental Ethic from a
Christian perspective must integrate ecological commitment
and social justice,
that is, preservation of the natural world and respect for
the human environment.
This is the central approach of our thesis. We stress the
urgency of an ethical
awareness that, following a dynamics of integration and
inclusion, presents a
mutually interacting perspective of the biblical and
Christian faith on Creation
which, at the same time, is in harmony with the new
ecological paradigm. Our
research studies the Camorim Ecological Volunteers Project
which sought a
model of sustainable development for the local community,
based on its cultural
identity. In the light of anthropological, ethical, and
theological assumptions, we
seek in this Project to identify the elements of an
Environmental Ethic based on
relational and integrative perspectives of the Christian
faith.

vocábulos expressivos são convencionais em cada
comunidade

cotidiano informal
do eixo Rio-São Paulo durante o período compreendido
entre
o início do segundo
cultura subjetiva do brasileiro. / [en] Expressive words are marks of cultural identity as they
differ among people.
They are conventional in each linguistic community and
therefore need to be
considered in the context of teaching/learning of a second
language for foreigners
as they constitute important elements of communication.
This paper presents,
analyses and classifies according to stylistic and
functional criteria the contextual
use of a set of onomatopoeic and non-onomatopoeic
expressive words observed in
the daily informal speech of the Rio-São Paulo axis within
the period between
August, 2003 and May, 2006. From the occurrences that
constitute the corpus
described in the paper, one can notice a wide range of
functional and semantic
variation of expressive words reflecting the ability of
Brazilian people to cope
with context in a high level of abstraction. One can also
observe that these words
reveal uncountable aspects of the Brazilian subjective
culture.

[pt] POR QUE NÃO ME DEIXAR FALAR NA LÍNGUA QUE EU QUISER?: EDUCAÇÃO EM LÍNGUA ESTRANGEIRA, IDENTIDADE E EDUCAÇÃO INTERCULTURAL / [en] WHY NOT LET ME SPEAK IN ANY LANGUAGE I LIKE?: FOREIGN LANGUAGE EDUCATION, IDENTITY AND INTERCULTURAL EDUCATIONMARIA CRISTINA MATOS NOGUEIRA 30 October 2018 (has links)
A pesquisa mostrou a
[en] This study had the objective of investigating the potential of foreign language teaching in promoting an intercultural education. It examines different proposals for an intercultural education considering both educational thought as well as proposals originating from reflections on foreign language teaching, particularly those put forward by Kramsch, Byram and Guilherme. According to these authors, language learning should make it possible for learners to develop intercultural communicative competence and critical cultural awareness. The empirical research adopted a qualitative approach, selecting the semi-structured interview as its tool. Fourteen interviews were carried out with English language teachers working in the different educational contexts of both state and private schools as well as language institutes. The teachers were selected on the basis of their training and teaching experience. The interviews were recorded and transcribed. At a later stage, a fifteenth interview was carried out through e-mail
with the pedagogic coordinator of the Centro Interescolar de Línguas in Brasília. This interview had as its especial objective to explore a successful example of teaching foreign languages in the state school context. The study revealed the teachers concern with the teaching of culture, with valuing the learners mother tongue and culture and with the need to help them develop critical reflection. However, some of the aspects of an intercultural education as defined by Guilherme (2003) such as a concern with transformative action did not become evident.

[en] VISIBILITY OF SLAVERY: REPRESENTATIONS AND PRACTICES OF CLOTHING IN QUOTIDIAN OF SLAVES IN NINETEENTH-CENTURY RIO DE JANEIRO / [pt] VISUALIDADE DA ESCRAVIDÃO: REPRESENTAÇÕES E PRÁTICAS DE VESTUÁRIO NO COTIDIANO DOS ESCRAVOS NA CIDADE DO RIO DE JANEIRO OITOCENTISTAPATRICIA MARCH DE SOUZA 24 May 2011 (has links)
[en] This work aims to review the role that has been attributed to the clothing in quotidian of the slaves of Rio de Janeiro in the nineteenth century, introducing new elements to broaden the understanding of how the slaves practiced dressing on the experience of captivity, in view of two clothing functions: visual change of the body and means of interpersonal communication. This research is developed through a critical examination of textual and image sources. Representations built on the appearance of slaves seen through the eyes of the other in which clothing is a significant factor in characterizing the black and the slave population. In the description of clothing, manners of dress, coupled with social distinctions and cultures of origin, generalize and stereotype the visibility of black men and women, with the creation of types of limited scope, inconsistent with the social, cultural and economic context of Rio de Janeiro in the nineteenth century. The thesis goes through texts and images and narrative reports of travelers, photos and advertisements of runaway slaves, of which elements can be extracted for a simultaneous dual purpose: to see the slave as object and as subject. Two possibilities of research pointing two different approaches, the first relates to the representations that show how the authors observed, assimilate and interpret the existence and the second related to captive possibilities used by slaves seeking their own identity by creating practices in the act of dressing up.
