Modelo de diagnóstico para determinar las causas que provocan la baja calidad del servicio logístico en los operadores logísticos pymes / Diagnostic model to determine the reasons that cause the low quality of the logistics service in SME logistics operators

Palomino Ruiz, Pamela Xiomara, Vega Barros, Edgardo Franklin 24 June 2020 (has links)
The outsourcing of logistics services has become an increasingly relevant practice for marketing companies, since these practices significantly improve their costs and productivity. However, the companies that provide the service often do not maintain a standard that ensures customer satisfaction. This is reflected in the problems of logistics service quality that many of the medium-sized companies in the sector in Latin America present. That is why this research seeks to find a model that can diagnose in a timely manner the causes of the quality of service problem. The model uses operational mapping tools, simple information gathering, correlations, and control charts. The authors' motivation is focused on carrying out more complete analyzes and reducing undiagnosed spaces, as well as increasing knowledge in the use of diagnostic tools as a whole, within the logistics services sector.

Bodiroga, Dejan, Lilja, Agnes, Persson, Hanna January 2022 (has links)
Background and discussion of the problem: At present, it is not possible to compare the greenhouse gas emissions in the third-party logistics sector on an equal basis, as there are different methods of calculating greenhouse gas emissions to be applied to third-party logistics companies. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to highlight the challenges that arise for the 3PL company and its business-to-business customers when there are different greenhouse gas emission calculation methods available for application. Method: A qualitative study was conducted through semi-structured interviews with the 3PL company, the government agency, and three business-to-business customers. In addition, a text analysis of five different third-party logistics companies was conducted. Conclusion: The study has determined that the current calculation methods are insufficient as individual calculation methods and are not suitable for comparison. As a result, inequity in the third-party logistics industry is likely to persist, as third-party logistics companies may report distorted results. The study also shows that when third-party logistics providers are unsure about which calculating method to use, their business-to-business customers are impacted. The study contributes to practical usefulness as the 3PL company gains a clearer insight into how other stakeholders relate to the different calculation methods, which is also relevant for other third-party logistics companies. The study has also contributed to theoretical usefulness through several different articles, creating an extended theoretical availability for the third-party logistics industry.

The Current State and Future Trends in The Use of Pallets in Distribution Systems

Mokhlesi, Javad, Lohrasebi, Saman January 2010 (has links)
Pallets play a very important role in whole distribution systems through the supply chain. Such a fact alone shows the importance of pallets in today’s fast growing global logistics. Due to the increasing number of regulations and policies regarding natural resource conservations and also sustainable development, the issue of pallet utilization, reuse and recycling matters became the core concern in most of the researches performed in this field. As a consequence, the presented report discusses the current problems, requirements and debates around pallets utilization in distribution systems in depth along with the other affecting factors such as Cost, Environment, Materials, Sustainability, Information Technology and so forth. To achieve such goals, the first step is recognizing the mass Industrial production factors and global market requirements for the current and future of pallet utilization in order to achieve the desired efficiency and effectiveness in practice with focus on standardized pallets utilization in specific regions like European Union. The second step is the considering of various pallet types compatibility in different environments with respect to unit load assignments both at present and future. The third step is to challenge the obtained data and observed results and also, to verify them according to the foreseen future requirements, tendencies and demands of pallets and unit loads assignments through the international logistics providers. The last step which is as well the most important part of this thesis report is, to put the information together in order to clarify and specify the encountered difficulties regarding usage of pallets with concentration on cost, environment and ergonomic issues.

Kanakura, Max, Pettersson, Marita January 2008 (has links)

Solutions of pitfalls on¡§Third Party Logistics¡¨ industry

Chiu, Teng-Yu 31 July 2006 (has links)
According to the author¡¦s professional observations of the 3PL industrial situations and problems, the main issue of this paper is to present real cases providing solutions on 3PL industrial pitfalls. In this paper, the pitfalls of ¡§Third party logistics¡¨ industry actually focus on the ¡§NVOCC¡¨ services, which indicate the vicious competitions of price for these decades. Due to the low entry barrier and low cost requirements; 3PL industry originally is under a keen competitive environment. Plus, because of the different price structure of underlying carrier during the recent decades, for 3PLs, the vicious cycle of NVOCC becomes more and more serious. Therefore, in this paper, author analyzes two practical cases based on existing literature review. The main purpose here is finding out the efficient suggestions of solutions on breaking this vicious cycle of competition by improving the core competitiveness from both internal services offering and external logistic network.

Third-party logistics suppliers under Just-in-sequence : A case in the Spanish Automotive Industry

Giner Rodrigo, Carlos January 2015 (has links)
Purpose - The purpose of the bachelor thesis is to describe the relationship between Third-party logistics (3PL) suppliers and car assemblers under Just-in-sequence (JIS). The paper refers to a case in the Spanish automotive industry and the main target is to identify and analyse the potential problems between both parts and explain how they work together. Methodology – The paper is based on a case study research, with the aid of interviews with people of the industry and participant-observations, to explain how this part of the supply chain works, the relationships along the chain and the difficulties of sequencing. Results – The paper identifies and analyses the potential problems between both parts and relates how a mistake from one of them can affect the other one. Then, the results are discussed and associated with some concepts of the theoretical framework. Limitations - The results of this case study can only be related to the Spanish automotive industry, for car assemblers that work under a JIS context with several 3PL suppliers. The case study only identifies and analyses the problems, solutions and measures for managing them are not provided.

A strategic decision-making model for optimal alignment of 3PL providers with SASOLs outbound supply chain

Rabie, Dewaldt Johannes January 2018 (has links)
Abstract in English, Afrikaans and Sesotho / The study was inspired by the global phenomenon of failure rates of outsourcing ventures; yet, the outsourcing value proposition of 3PL providers is promising and potentially lucrative. The approach of the outsourcing venture was thus investigated, specifically how to align and integrate outsourcing parameters appropriately at the inception of the outsourcing venture in order to attain the benefits brought about by the outsourcing decision over the projected life of the outsourcing venture. To this effect, a strategic decision-making model, with the objective of ascertaining optimal alignment and integration was developed. The model comprises a dualistic development followed by a methodological process path to operationalise the strategic decision-making model. A services continuum (development one) is established, which is a permutation matrix that classifies four aspects of importance (service type, category of 3PL provider, strategic alignment and investment), in order to align the aspects optimally and enable appropriate model application. The services continuum is a conglomeration of nine models:  a capabilities matrix for 3PL provider services;  a framework for evaluating the supply chain role of 3PL providers;  a mathematical model;  a supplier selection and evaluation process;  a presentation of the Hayes–Wheelwright framework;  an outsourcing variables differentiated model;  four categories of the 3PL providers model;  an estimated path model; and  a process integration via survey data collection model. The services continuum was extended for utilisation with risk management practices, and an outsourcing risk matrix (development two) was established. The enablement of the outsource risk matrix is an element review, consisting of three categories: collaboration and integrated planning systems; performance measurement; and broad-based black economic empowerment. The strategic decision-making methodology process path was developed as having three phases, which operationalise the strategic decision-making model. The research was primarily focussed on literature reviews, with the models classified according to the services continuum. To a lesser extent, the research focussed on primary data, which served as model application input specifically for application requirements related to Sasol. The study established a universally applicable strategic decision-making model, as well as the application of the model for Sasol’s outbound (final packaged product) supply chain. / Business Management / D. Evaluation of Third-Party Logistics in a Japanese Setting : an evaluation of the 3PL-partnership between the Japanese trading house Gadelius and the European logistics

Carlsson, Henrik, Dreimanis, Rickard January 2005 (has links)
In this thesis the Third-Party Logistics (3PL) partnership between the Japanese trading company Gadelius and the European logistics provider Mahé is investigated. This was done as a case study, mainly taking place on location at Gadelius’ headquarter in Tokyo. The purpose has been to identify and evaluate the fulfilment of initial objectives, both with respect to agreed on terms and expectations of each party, analyze the reasons behind result and provide recommendations for the future. In terms of what is strictly defined and agreed on in the contract the partnership is principally fulfilled, but this setup is not good in terms of how full 3PL-effects could be achieved. The not so strictly defined parts of the contract stating that Mahé should work proactively are however not fulfilled to the same degree. This is connected to the lack of a dedicated Mahé representative being integrated into the OtD-team at Gadelius. Because of this Gadelius’, to begin with very high, expectations on effects have become unrealistic, which has contributed to bad sentiments against Mahé and their capabilities. This has further been enhanced by Key Performance Indicators that don’t fully match the essential objectives with the partnership. To change the situation two possible ways for the future are presented. If Gadelius’ focus is on indirect cost reductions an expanded partnership should be chosen, while a focus on direct cost reductions and a need for an easier change implementation call for a more limited partnership. For both alternatives new ways for measuring performance are suggested.
