Poésie et science(s) chez Saint-John Perse / Poetry and science(s) in Saint-John Perse’s work

Fels, Laurent 12 December 2014 (has links)
In his “Nobel Speech”, Saint-John Perse specifies that, for the scientist as well as the poet, “the questioning is the same on the same abyss, with only their investigative modes differing”. This statement prompted a more thorough analysis of the influence on Saint-John Perse’s poetry of both scientific knowledge and Henri Bergson’s philosophy, especially as the writer, further in his text, explicitly refers to Einstein and quantum physics. In his La structure poétique du monde : Copernic, Kepler, Fernand Hallyn emphasizes that ”poetics attend to the genesis of a hypothesis as a global phenomenon, which goes far beyond any established framework and develops along its own scheme - the result, undoubtedly, of logical and other determination and conditioning, but also a unique configuration, an original synthesis which, as a whole, requires a sui generis study of its structuring and the interaction of the elements framing and informing it”. In Les structures rhétoriques de la science de Kepler à Maxwell, he adds that “poetics must not totally be excluded from science: rather, the latter is endowed with its own poetics following specific rules and values.” In other words, there is interaction between poetic truth and scientific truth, with the “investigative modes” (Saint-John Perse) of the two differing, yet the object of the quest remaining the same. Hence arose the analysis of how the influences of Bergsonism, along with scientific knowledge, nourish the works of Saint-John Perse, which claim a cosmic perspective

Buracos negros regulares e outros objetos compactos eletricamente carregados

Dominguez, Angel David Masa January 2017 (has links)
In the present work we study black holes and other electrically charged compact objects in the context of the Einstein-Maxwell theory. The main objective is the construction of solutions of black holes and the study of their stability. With this purpose, we rst reviewed some fundamental concepts of General Relativity introducing the main equations to be used. In particular, we write explicitly the Einstein's eld equations for the case of an electrically charged anisotropic uid, which presents spherical symmetry and a de Sitter type equation of state, where the radial pressure is equal to the negative of energy density. Then, the Einstein eld equation is used to search for two solutions, an interior solution for the region with matter, which presents no singularity, and an external solution for the region outside the matter, that corresponds to the Reissner-Nordström metric. To construct a complete solution we apply the Darmois-Israel junction conditions with a timelike thin shell at the matching surface. It is assumed that the thin shell may have mass (energy density) and pressure, in the form of a perfect uid obeying the barotropic equation of state P = !. The equations of motion for the shell is derived from the junction conditions. We show that there are stationary electrically charged regular black holes solutions and other compact objects for specic choices of the ! parameter. We also show the stability and instability regions of the solutions considering the regions fo the parameter space for which the the mass of the shell is non-negative.

This study discusses the differents representation of alien in the narratives L’Étranger by Albert Camus and Lo straniero by Luchino Visconti. Therefore, our reflection is based on the precepts chosen by Tiphane Samoyault about the concept of intertextuality in order to understand how the works relate. We also consider the meaning of adaptation by the proposition of Linda Hutcheon. Under this perspective, we discuss the issues concerning the theory of alien of Julia Kristeva and Bernhard Waldenfels in the narratives thematic focus – the incipit from the novel and the opening scenes of Visconti’s film. Thereby, we analysis the alien behavior of the main character in the literary and filmic narratives, Meursault, in order to discuss the hypothesis of the research that seeks to understand if the filmic narrative is able to repay the strangeness of the novel since the opening.

Cremer, Antoine 29 March 2018 (has links)

Hurrah Revolutionaries and Polish Patriots: The Polish Communist Movement in Canada, 1918-1950

Polec, Patryk January 2012 (has links)
This thesis constitutes the first full-length study of Polish Communists in Canada, a group that provided a substantial segment of the countries socialist left in the early 20th century. It traces the roots of socialist support in Poland, its transplantation to Canada, the challenges it faced within an ethnic community heavily influenced by Catholicism, the complications caused by its links to the Comintern, and its changing strength and decline. It offers a deeper understanding of the ways in which the Communist party was able to appeal to certain ethnic groups, such as through cultural outreach, as well as its complicated and often arguably counter-productive relationship with the Comintern. It also furnishes important information on the efforts of the RCMP and Polish consulates to maintain control over the communists, as well as how generally improved material conditions among Poles, especially following the Second World War, along with the influence of the Cold War, accounted for a rapid decline in support. The thesis is primarily based on sources generated by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs or, more precisely, by the Polish consulates in Winnipeg, Montreal and Ottawa. One the Canadian side, the thesis took advantage of RCMP records, Canadian security bulletins, immigration records and Polish-language newspapers printed in Canada. By utilizing these sources, this study not only analyses the interaction of the Polish Canadian communist movement with other segments of the Polish community in Canada, but it also moves beyond the introverted approach that has characterized most studies of ethnic organizations in Canada by placing the movement within a “Canadian” context to analyze its relations with the government, broader segments of Canadian society, and the Communist Party of Canada (CPC).

LUIS ALBERT: RACIONALISMO EN LA CIUDAD DE VALENCIA. 1927/1936

Giménez Ribera, Manuel 26 July 2010 (has links)
Giménez Ribera, M. Klasifikace vztahů mezi pojmenovanými entitami v textu / Classification of Relations between Named Entities in Text

Ondřej, Karel January 2020 (has links)
This master thesis deals with the extraction of relationships between named entities in the text. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the issue of natural language representation for machine processing is discussed. Subsequently, two partial tasks of relationship extraction are defined, namely named entities recognition and classification of relationships between them, including a summary of state-of-the-art solutions. In the practical part of the thesis, system for automatic extraction of relationships between named entities from downloaded pages is designed. The classification of relationships between entities is based on the pre-trained transformers. In this thesis, four pre-trained transformers are compared, namely BERT, XLNet, RoBERTa and ALBERT.

Srovnání filosofických a etických motivů v literárním díle Alberta Camuse a Jean-Paul Sartra / Comparison of philosophic and ethic motives in the literary work of A.Camus and J.P.Sartre

Bečvářová, Lenka January 2011 (has links)
RESUME My diploma thesis is focused on the comparison of opinions of Jean-Paul Sartre and Albert Camus concerning existential and philosophical motifs in their literary work. I tried to compare the occurrence of individual existential categories, based on selected philosophical and literary works of both authors, who rank among the French branch of atheist existentialism. The first chapter deals with basic characteristics of existential philosophy and its changes between the two wars; and the consequential spreading of this philosophy thinking in the post-war Europe, in which it achieved a great success in a few branches. Majority of this chapter is devoted to French existentialism, whose goal was to explore and describe concrete existence, while human being (existence) is identified as freedom there. It was due to Jean- Paul Sartre that French existentialism has become the most significant way of thinking. The two following chapters briefly describe the lives of Sartre and Camus; because the lives of authors who write philosophical and literary works are always interconnected with their work. The second and third chapter contain the analysis of selected works of both authors, while I didn't forget the dramatic work which is a part of philosophical ad literary work and by means of that I presented mainly...

Naděje a smysl člověka: srovnání pojetí lidské existence u Gabriela Marcela a Alberta Camuse / Hope and Meaning of Human Existence: Comparing the Approach to Human Existence of Gabriel Marcel and Albert Camus

Klimešová, Pavlína January 2020 (has links)
73 Abstract The first part of my dissertation deals with the philosophy of Gabriel Marcel. It begins with the basic information about the philosopher as well as with his thinking placed within the context of the philosophy's history. Next step is Mr. Marcel's ideas about the feeling of the essence of life which is significant to experience in one man's life in order to set off the journey of englightenment. The feeling of the essence of life is unfortunately being silenced in nowadays people. After that I introduce the philosopher's conception of the imprisonment of a human being. This imprisonment is the cornerstone of his explanation of the metaphysics of hope. At the end of the first part I submit the power and the importance of hope in a human's state of mind which can be so stable that even the death of the beloved doesn't mean the end of hope. As mentioned before, the second part begins with the information about Mr. Albert Camus and I also put his philosophy in the context of the history. The most important step is to introduce his feeling of the futility without which the philosophy of Mr. Camus cannot be understood. The next vital part is his understanding and asking of one man's life relevance and also the philosopher's perception of a suicide. The cost of human life is the focal point of...
