Albert Camus et l'art de philosopher

Massé, Olivier 08 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this master’s thesis is to propose a reflection on the all-too-often ignored issue of philosophy’s “nature”. Defending a historicist and non-essentialist position since philosophy cannot be understood, defined and explained without studying its historical forms, I decided to examine the presence of philosophy in the life and in the work of Albert Camus, who is essentially known as a man of letters. The thinking of Camus, which is positioned against the abstract and theoretical philosophy of his contemporaries, will be studied in light of the works of Pierre Hadot on ancient philosophy. The comparison with the classical Greeks will be precious in many ways. It will prove that Camus extends the ancient ideal of philosophy as a way of life, which guiding theses will be presented in the prolegomena. I therefore wish to bring forward the possibility of a “modern” conception of philosophy that is anchored in practicality. This research will be divided into three parts : the first will aim to clarify the meaning of the concepts and various parts of the Myth of Sisyphus; the second will seek to liken his philosophy of the absurd to the guiding theses of philosophy as a way of life, offering an innovative interpretation of his Sisyphus; the third will briefly present its philosophy of revolt from an analysis of The Rebel in order to demonstrate that its moral can also be likened to philosophy as a way of life.

Broborg, Sanna January 2017 (has links)
Authors are often described as lone creators of their work. However, in many cases there are several others included in the production of a literary work, amongst them the publishing house. It is previously known that Swedish authors Harry Martinson and Moa Martinson both had an exchange with their publishers Karl Otto Bonnier, Tor Bonnier and Kaj Bonnier at Albert Bonniers förlag (a leading Swedish publishing house). This thesis examines in what ways the publishers’ acts as “co-creators” of the authors literary works by analysing the communication in letters between the publishers and the authors regarding numerous manuscripts written during 1928–1939. The thesis frames several questions and analyses patterns in the publishers’ letters and their comments of the authors’ writing, the dialogue between the five respective parties and what function the publishers can be said to have in the literary production. The overall purpose of the thesis is to further understand the relationship between the two professions and how that affects the production of a literary work, up until the original publication of the work. The analysis concludes that there are some distinguishable patterns in the publishers’ critique of the authors’ manuscripts regarding language, content and disposition, the recipient, the publish houses’ interests as well as the friendship between the authors and publishers. While the relationship between the authors and publishers changes, so does the publishers comments and the authors response to those comments. Harry Martinson and Tor Bonnier develops a friendship which affects their working relationship, while Moa Martinson presumably feels left out and treated less amicably by Albert Bonnier’s. There is a difference between how the authors are treated by the publishers in that Harry Martinson gets less critique and does not need to make as extensive changes in his writings whilst Moa Martinson on the other hand has to do the opposite. The publishers, especially Karl Otto Bonnier, also demands that Moa Martinson make changes regarding unsuitable topics in her writing. Both authors show gratitude for the publishers’ commentary, though they are at first often unwilling to make the suggested changes. In the end Harry Martinson and Moa Martinson tend to yield to the publishers wishes, possibly in order to get their works published. The thesis concludes that the publishers could be considered “co-creators” of the authors’ literary works mainly by contributing to and shaping the authors’ views on what literature is and how it should be written, thus affecting their writings in the long run.

Nilálgebras comutativas de potências associativas e o problema de Albert / Commutative power-associative nilalgebras and Albert\'s problem

Vanegas, Elkin Oveimar Quintero 12 September 2016 (has links)
We will prove that commutative power-associative nilalgebras both of dimension n and nilindex n-3, or of dimension 9 over C, are solvable. This solve an specific case of famous Albert\'s problem. After that, we will make a description about multiplications of commutative power-associative nilalgebras of dimension n (greater or igual that 12) and nilindex n-1 over a field of characteristic diferent from 2,3 and 5.

Bastidores de Papeles de Son Armadans: as correspondências. Cela e os exilados: Alberti, Aub, Castro e Emilio Prados / Backstages of Papeles de Son Armadans: the correspondences. Cela and the exiled: Alberti, Aub, Castro and Emilio Prados

Munhoz, Solange Chagas do Nascimento 22 June 2015 (has links)
This thesis aims to analyze the exchanged letters between Camilo José Cela and the writers Rafael Alberti, Max Aub, Américo Castro and Emilio Prados, during the decades of 50 to 70\'s, gathered in the book Correspondencia con el exilio (2009). In these correspondences, which configure themselves as a textual territorial of sociability, we examine the articulation between the correspondents in order to circulate the writers collected works exiled in franquist Spain, in both Papeles de Son Armadans magazine and Alfaguara publisher house. The study yet demonstrates the relevance of the interlocution for the Cela\'s project of evidence his performance as a cultural mediator between the exile and peninsula.

We understand that, in order to approach these concepts, our author had dialogued with Epicure, i.e., had used Epicure s writings as the foundation of his essays. We will then try to explain Epicure s philosophy concerning his building a concept of happiness based on physics. After going through Epicure, we will approach the concepts of happiness and man-nature relationship in both essays, in order to clarify Camus dialogue with Epicure. We will try to explain the above stated objectives through the paths of lyricism and absurd. According to the first path, man meets happiness and experiences unity through sensitive experience; according to the second, man finds out the relationships with the world, the other men, his own existence, and through these can identify with nature. The phase of lyricism grants man the perception of the links which ties him to nature; the phase of absurd provides him with the awareness about the distance that supports the links / Este trabalho visa discutir o conceito felicidade e a relação homem-natureza nos ensaios de juventude de Albert Camus: Noces e Le mythe de Sisyphe.

The French chemical industry and its changes, 1900-1931

Langlinay, Erik 02 December 2017 (has links)
The French Chemical industry appears in the beginning of the century as a backward industry compared with the german one. Indeed there is a slow growth and a a certain number of progress, in research for instance. The Chemical Industry is structured by a general system of cartels and harsh labour. At the outbreak of the War, the French Chemical industry is ill prepared and has to shift rapidly. It’s improvment is made through the basic development of traditionnal factories and an intensification of work due to colonial workforce for the most. At the end of the war, the chemical industry as to convert to civil markets. The 1920-1921 crisis shows the fragility of this industry. When the economic growth is back in 1922-29 the German chemical is more competitive thane ever having rationalized its structures. Thus the inner market is developped. At the end of the period, scientific research is rising. Nevertheless the capitalistic transformation is far for being made. The branch is still divided in archaïc (foreign workforce) and modern trends.

The collapse of dialogue:Intellectuals and politics in the Uruguayan crisis, 1960-1973

Gregory, Stephen William George, Modern Language Studies, UNSW January 1999 (has links)
In the context of the growing political instability and deepening economic crisis in Uruguay during the 1960s and early 1970s, the thesis examines two propositions. The first is that politically informed intellectuals, though disaffected or marginalised, will integrate themselves into the political mainstream if circumstances demand and a suitable vehicle allows them to participate usefully in the political process. The second is that, in the Uruguayan case, an expanded notion of dialogue is essential in analysing how this was accomplished, partly because the idea of dialogue was a necessary part of how they worked together and communicated with their public, and partly because dialogue was seen as a crucial element in reforming the nation and as the basis of the relationship between the political party that was to be the agent of such reform and its potential constituency. The thesis begins by examining how the so-called 1945 and 1960s generations overcame intergenerational squabbles and worked together, with the help of an expanding publishing industry, to create a public for their meditations on Uruguay's problems. Then, after briefly outlining the importance of dialogue to the essay as a genre and its role in developing national identity in Latin America, the study examines essays on the state of Uruguay by four major writers in the 1960s: Roberto Ares Pons, Alberto Methol Ferr??, Carlos Maggi and Washington Lockhart. The thesis then traces the intelligentsia's role in the several attempts to heal the rifts within the Uruguayan left and in the formation of the centre left coalition, the Frente Amplio, in 1971, to show how the notion of dialogue was incorporated into its structure, mode of operation and political program. The final section, a case study of Mario Benedetti's political activities and propagandist essays of 1971-1973, examines the contradictions of working as a committed intellectual when the very conditions necessary for intellectual life are breaking down. The thesis concludes that the resurrection of the nation as a site for dialogue with and among all members of society, a project in which the intelligentsia had enthusiastically participated, foundered because drastic political polarisation permitted only one militarist and monologic solution.

Mässhaken i förändring

Sundström, Ulla January 2002 (has links)
