A study of the role of textbooks and how the image of the Viking is constructedAntal sidor: 39The image of the Viking is more popular than ever, in popular culture there are computer games, TV series and movies. In Sweden children learn about the Vikings in school, but what have children been taught about the Viking? The study uses four different textbooks published 1868-2012 to find out how the Viking has been portrayed over time, Läseboken för folkskolan from 1868, Läseboken för folkskolan from 1935, Lärobok I Fäderneslandets historia from 1964 and Puls Historia from 2012. The textbook Läseboken för folkskolan from 1868 was the first textbook that united all of Sweden's pupils in primary school. The study shows that the content about the Vikings in the textbooks no longer depend on the Icelandic sagas, rather the texts rely on research-based science. Using Norgren’s theory of the use of history and Koselleck’s conceptual history, the study shows how the image of the Viking is constructed in the textbooks. Denna studie tar avstamp i begreppet kris, då dess komplexitet och mångtydighet gör det intressant att studera utifrån en begreppshistorisk ansats. För begreppets fortlevnad har det historiskt sett utvidgats till att inrymma flera bakomliggande meningar som passar den aktuella verkligheten. Syftet med studien är således att urskilja hur begreppet kris förändrats utifrån Natos konceptdokument under årtalen 1968, 1991, 1999 samt 2010 med hjälp av begreppshistorisk teori och metod. Reinhart Koselleck är en av begreppshistoriens urfäder vilket gör att hans teoretiska ramverk samt metod fungerar som verktyg vid illustrerandet av den begreppsliga förändringsprocessen. Dessutom tillmötesgår den begreppshistoriska metoden det spontana intresset för språk och ordbetydelser, varför den bedöms vara som given för denna uppsats. Materialet som ligger till grund för denna begreppshistoriska analys består av fyra strategiska konceptdokument från Nato. Att studien genomförs utifrån ett Nato- perspektiv beror på att ett av alliansens huvudsyften är att hantera kriser av varierande grad. Dessutom fokuserar Natos konceptdokument på aktuella hot och utmaningar i vilka den begreppsliga förändringsprocessen kan skönjas. De slutsatser som presenteras är att begreppet kris förändrats i och med alla de nya hot och risker vilka återfinns som konsekvenser av bland annat globaliseringen och den teknologiska utvecklingen. Den begreppsliga förändringen tar sig uttryck i att det utvidgats till att innehålla fler bakomliggande meningar, såsom exempelvis cyberattack och klimatförändringar.

This work examines the discussion that precedes the name change for maids in Sweden. In1917 the labor union club for maids called Stockholms tjänarinneförening changes its name toHembiträdesföreningen i Stockholm. Over time, hembiträde slowly replaces tjänarinna as thecommon name for maids. Through a conceptual history approach the study wishes to shinelight upon the ideas about titels found in printed sources preceding the name change. Thesource material consists of newspapers, articles in periodicals as well as printed books on thesubject. In addition to the conceptual history approach, social categories are used as a way ofmaking titles, found in the source material, comprehensible from a historical perspective.Also, Ferdinand Tönnies two concepts Gemeinschaft and Gesellschaft is used to analyzedifferent view on historical change, in relation to the maid occuptation, found in the sourcematerial. An overarching question in the work is: what kind of value can be achieved througha name change of this kind?

The purpose of this essay is to investigate how the Nobel Committee uses the concept of peace in their press releases about the Nobel Peace Prize. This essay starts by investigating various articles and books to establish a basic understanding of how to efficiently investigate peace. This research then prompts us to investigate the related concepts of War, Conflict and Violence. It also tasks us to investigate a possible expansion of the concept in the context of a expanding globalised world. We could also relate ideas of peace to ideas of democracy and world order. This is done through Kosellecks methods of ”begriffsgeschichte”, by investigating the use of these various terms as well as their semantic field, we get an idea of how they’re conceived, and thus, the context in which they are used. This essay uses press releases found on the Nobel Prize Committee website as well as the award speeches as complements. This essay shows us how the concept of peace has grown, incorperating new ideas of justice, democracy and human rights. This can be seen in the context of an increasingly complex, westernized, globalised world, furthering the need for wider, more nebulous concepts to describe it.

Den här uppsatsen är en begreppshistorisk undersökning av fienden som idé och begrepp i förhållande till Vietnamkriget, med syfte att förstå begreppets roll och funktion i och under kriget. Med utgångspunkt i framför allt historikern Quentin Skinners begreppshistoria har jag i uppsatsen utvecklat metoden krigets begreppshistoria, vilket innebär en undersökning av begreppets breda användning. Uppsatsen utgår från ett amerikanskt perspektiv och bygger på ett brett källmaterial som bland annat inkluderar tal, broschyrer, intervjuer, event och böcker, från politiska och militära aktörer, försvarsdepartementet, fredsaktivister, soldater, veteraner och journalister. I Vietnamkriget användes fiendebegreppet på olika sätt i olika sammanhang med syftet att påverka, mobilisera, skapa konsensus, legitimera, avhumanisera, problematisera och destabilisera. En av uppsatsens utgångspunkter är att krig är något som påverkar alla dimensioner av ett samhälle, och att krig ytterst är en språklig och kollektiv aktivitet.

The purpose of the study is to shed light on the potential conceptual transformation within the discourse on psychedelia in Sweden, and how that transformation affects the ideas surrounding the substances and its ideological discourse. These changes could hypothetically build a new cultural construction of the view on psychedelia in Sweden. The study is of hermeneutic qualitative nature. I use idea and ideology analysis with elements of conceptual history. Further the study uses the constructions of thoughts: judgments of reality, judgments of value and precepts of action to evaluate and to illustrate the perspectives in the field. The study examines a culturally conditioned problem in the form of depression of which the potential solution in itself is a cultural taboo both spread and created by an ideological hegemonic idea, but this hegemonic idea is now potentially challenged by new medical research findings.

Perversion är ett negativt laddat begrepp som används för att beskriva personer eller företeelser som avviker från normen, oftast den sexuella. Jag undersöker vad, vem och vilka som kallas perversa i tidningen Expressen år 1966, 1986 och 2016, med syftet att synliggöra hur begreppets användningsområde har förändrats. Min metod har sina rötter i den begreppshistoriska teorin och är utvecklad av Reinhart Koselleck. Genom synkrona och diakrona analyser granskar man politisk-sociala begrepp och sammanhangen de brukas inom. Resultatet visar att bruket av begreppet som ett icke-sexuellt, värdeladdat ord har varit konstant. Det har också åsyftat ett varierande antal sexuella läggningar och uttryck, varav några finns närvarande under alla årtal. Min slutsats blir att det perversa inte nödvändigtvis förblir perverst: ibland brukas begreppet impulsivt, som en reaktion mot det vi inte är vana vid. Begreppets associationer med det förbjudna och tabubelagda förblir dock beständiga.

The purpose of this study is to describe, analyse and compare the use of the concept creativity in 1996- and 2009 culture propositions. Various aspects of creativity have been investigated using the methods of idea analysis and conceptual history. The result is presented on the basis of three issues that concern: what linguistic space creativity is given as a word; who is considered creative and; what function creativity has in cultural policy. Creativity has clearly gone from being a descriptive word to standing as its own concept in noun form, but in the sense of artistic renewal, the term is very present in both propositions. Most people are considered as having creative potential, but young adults and professional artists are the most prominent groups in the material. Artistic renewal is increasingly motivated by market interests, although other softer values are represented.

Esaias Tegnér (1782-1846) var en stor kulturpersonlighet i 1800-talets Sverige. I dikten ”Det Eviga” proklameras det att våldet inte förmår skapa något evigt, utan det som våldet skapar blir ”vanskligt och kort”. Den följande undersökningen tar avstamp ur detta, och vill sätta våldet hos Tegnér under närmare betraktelse. Detta gör den via att utgå från Helge Jordheims ”nya filologi”, som sätter språkets relation till historien i fokus, med specifik inriktning på Reinhart Kosellecks begreppshistoria – en teoretiker som Jordheim presenterar. Med denna teoretiska bakgrund antar undersökningen följande frågeställningar: Vad är det som Tegnér avser med våld? Hur behandlar han begreppet? Vad har begreppet för dimensioner – är det en nyanserad eller en platt förståelse? Sker det någon form av utveckling av begreppet med tiden? I sådana fall hur och vad är det som förändras? Undersökningen sätter två perioder av Tegnérs diktproduktion i huvudfokus: den tidiga diktningen 1799–1807, och den mogna periodens diktning 1808–1825. Ur detta kan uppsatsen visa på ett återkommande våldsbegrepp, som knyter an till Tegnérs idealistiska åskådning. I den första perioden är våldet är tillfälligt, negativt och känsloladdat, samtidigt som det finns en vilja att sätta begreppet under reflektion. När Tegnér mognar som diktare utvecklas begreppet. Den reflekterande hållningen byts ut mot en proklamerande. Våldet blir meningslöst, ondskefullt, krigiskt och ensamt.
