Navigationskonceptet DSI:s påverkan på användarupplevelsen : En studie av en elektronisk turistbroschyr / The navigation concept DSI's impact on the user experience : A study of an electronic tourist brochure

Raattamaa, Lena, Ghazali, Mirna January 2015 (has links)
A tourist brochure is a familiar product that tourists collect information from. But how do users experience the interaction with an unfamiliar navigation concept we call DSI in the context of seeking tourist information and what impact does DSI have on the user experience (UX)? We conducted a study of ten respondents. The study includes an observation in which the respondents had to interact with the application we created with the navigation concept DSI, and perform a number of tasks. They also performed a number of tasks on a PDF with the same content but with a different structure. Afterwards we performed the method Product Reaction Cards and lastly an interview. We concluded that it takes time to learn something unfamiliar as DSI but when the respondents have learned the concept it turned out to have a positive impact on the user experience and the majority considered it useful in the context of seeking tourist information.

Svalelid, Sara January 2019 (has links)
This study examines how a printed brochure can be adapted to a website. The aim of this study is to see how an information-rich text can be adapted to a digital format with focus on plain language and how structure can contribute to web adaptation of a text. In this study I have worked with an information brochure about heat pumps, the brochure is a publication from the Swedish Energy Agency. On behalf of the Swedish Energy Agency I have revised some pages of the brochure and prepared them for a digital format. The target group of this information brochure is Swedish homeowners and energy and climate advisors. The advisors help and guide homeowners who are looking for information about heat pumps. I have focused on theories of plain language, reading on screen, hierarchy, composition and disposition. A text analysis on the existing brochure has been performed and I have conducted a survey where I gathered opinions from the energy and climate advisors. I have also interviewed a heat pump expert at the Swedish Energy Agency and conducted usability test with homeowners. The conclusions of my study are that web texts need to be concise and short. The usage of ordinary words is important and to always explain difficult phrases and technical words is of great help to the reader. A good example is to include a dictionary. It should be easy to get a quick overview of the site content and the user should see the full page info, having to scroll down complicates the overview and context. But the most important conclusion is that the writer needs to understand the target group and their previous knowledge.

Využití propagační grafiky v praxi / THE USE OF PROMOTIONAL GRAPHICS IN PRACTICE

CHARVÁTOVÁ, Jana January 2010 (has links)
The master thesis consists of two parts. In the theoretical part, applied and computer graphics, fonts, and promotion are discussed. The practical part is aimed at applied graphics based on the graphic art extended by mixed media. Matrices made of zinc-galvanized sheets were etched in nitric acid. A set of graphic works was printed on watercolour papers. Individual graphics were placed at a promotional brochure of the company Printing House David. The brochure promotes the printing house equipment. When prepared the brochure, the software CorelDraw was used. Photos taken on the Printing House David and edited with the use of Adobe Photoshop software package are thematically focused on "printing machines" of the company. The photos are attached to the thesis in a form of sketches.

The effects of a student focused print intervention on the physical activity habits of freshmen college students

Habura, Michael 01 January 2014 (has links) (PDF)
Significant amounts of researchers have found college students' physical activity participation decreases as they transition from high school to college. Numerous methods to overcome this reduction in physical activity have been explored. The purpose of this research is to determine the effects of a student focused print brochure on the physical activity habits of freshmen college students. To determine if the brochure was effective, incoming freshmen college students were grouped into three intervention conditions and asked to participate in a pre and post intervention survey that assessed their physical activity participation eight months prior to arriving at university and again six weeks into college. The researcher hypothesized that students' who received the student focused brochure would exhibit greater amounts of physical activity than those in the other two groups during the intervention period. Consistent with previous studies, the mean physical activity levels of each condition dropped. However, the results indicated that statistically the student focused brochure had the greatest impact in minimizing students' drop in physical activity. Recreation and public health practitioners should create market specific promotional materials that take advantage of current trends in technology. Suggestions for future research include exploring the effectiveness of physical activity promotional material created for specific market segments and using social media and cell phone applications to promote physical activity participation.

Abbou, Julie 05 November 2011 (has links) (PDF)

Physical activity in natural environments : importance of environmental quality, landscape type and promotional materials

Elliott, Lewis Roland January 2016 (has links)
Physical inactivity and disconnection from natural environments threatens human health. However, research has demonstrated that natural environments potentially support health-enhancing physical activity which could confer greater physical and mental health benefits than physical activity in other types of environment. This thesis approached the study of physical activity in natural environments through three related pieces of research. Firstly, an experimental study was carried out to explore how the presence of litter in beach environments affected psychophysiological responses to exercise. Responses to exercise did not differ in littered and clean conditions but there was evidence that order effects influenced findings. Visual attention to the two scenes differed, but did not mediate differences in psychophysiological responses. Secondly, analysis of a national dataset was undertaken to explore the form and quantity of physical activity conducted within natural environments in England. A series of linear regressions revealed that higher-intensity physical activities occurred in countryside environments, but more total energy expenditure occurred in coastal environments. Thirdly, a quantitative content analysis of brochures which promote recreational walking in natural environments was conducted which investigated their use of persuasive behavioural messages. These brochures omitted behavioural techniques which may be effective at motivating inactive individuals to walk. Extending this, an online survey tested whether improving brochure content heightened intentions to walk in natural environments. By designing content based on the theory of planned behaviour, the intentions of inactive individuals to undertake walking in natural environments were increased. The findings from this thesis demonstrate that the protection of natural environments is vital for preserving and promoting active recreation and could contribute to population-level increases in physical activity with theory-based promotion in the future.
