Thus, to define that category, about which I developed my Thesis, the theoretical and philosophical formularizations of Bakhtin relative to the uses of the language were my support. The text which relates this research is organized in two great parts. In the first one, I present my theoretical and methodological construction for the study of the constellations of genres, bringing as proposal the choice of the strongest characteristic of the communication sphere where the grouping of genres is, the observation of the formative process of those genres and the identification of the social functions that they realize. In the second part, I present the chats like an example of constellation of genres and I illustrate my theoretical and methodological construction through of seven different types of chats, focusing the hypertextuality, the transmutation of genres and the communicative purpose as the operational categories to the analysis. In this research, I tried give an ethnographic character through an intense exercise of participant observation, accessing many chat rooms in the Internet during three years. For obtaining the data, besides the participant observation, I did small interviews with some chatters by e-mail. After the triangulation of the data and its posterior analysis, I arrived to the following results: the constellation of chats assumes a hypertextual nature because such characteristic is what brings chats closer as for the aspect of their communication sphere; chats are genres that share the same formative phenomenon, in other words, everyone of them is formed by the transmutation and the reinterpretation of oral genres from various communication spheres; finally, chats become distinct of each one because they build a web of communicative purposes inside of the constellation in order to serve to several social functions. / In the present research my objective was to create a concept to the phenomenon of the constellation of genres. / Abstract: The purpose of this work is to present an approach to the genetic and molecular processes by use of the communication and coding theory in modelling the central dogma of the molecular biology. From this modelling we associate the genetic code to a modulator in the communication system. More specifically, such a procedure consists is in the construction of a signal constellation by use of the S3 and S4 permutation subgroups based on the code genetic. By considering this algebraic method of signal design, we propose two possible signal constellations to the genetic code. The representation of the genetic code as correlated signal constellations provides the idea idea of "concatenated signal constellation", an innovative idea in communication and coding theory. The concatenated signal constellations have the property of error-correction, a new concept being introduced. On the other hand, these representations of the genetic code are not unique for currently, we do not know an algebraic structure capable of describing the genetic code together with the partitioning generated by the amino acids. / Mestrado / Telecomunicações e Telemática / Mestre em Engenharia Elétrica

Thesis named How can be sibling constellations by health disability affected, researchs effect of health disability to sibling constellations. Influence of health disability is examined in the area of career orientation, spending freetime and position of intact sibling in sibling constellation. Data gained from semistructured interviews are sorted by contained informations and contexts to these three categories. The objective of thesis is to find out whether sibling constellations are ind the fixed areas affected by health disability. The data and codes are obtained by summary in interviews according to required categories. These data are compared with theoretical basis and then they are formed to answers to research questions. The conclusions of research established that in investigated areas sibling constellations are influenced. The influence comes from the individual dispositions of each of the respondent. At the end of the thesis based on the survey results there are proposed additional procedures for the processing of reladed research. The idea of the thesis is to express and give support for persons similar life situations. KEYWORDS health disability, sibling constellation, parents and children, career orientation, freetime

Enhancing the affective domain in order to reduce fear of death in first-year student nurses

Goode, Kim Patricia January 2015 (has links)
This study seeks to investigate fear of death in first-year student nurses. It considers how this might be ameliorated through teaching and learning interventions that involve addressing emotional and spiritual intelligence within the affective domain. Fear of death, for this study, is defined as fear of death and of caring for dying people and their families. A pragmatic paradigm and a mixed method approach were used to explore the feelings and experiences of newly recruited student nurses in relation to fear of death and the care of the dying person and their families. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used to examine the impact of two different interventions intended to reduce the fear of death. A questionnaire was used to measure aspects of fear of death. The students were then randomly allocated to three groups. The members of two of the groups experienced an intervention, either a psychological self-help programme called 'Do Something Different', (Fletcher and Pine, 2009) or a weekly group meeting that explored relationships and the use of spiritual strategies based on Family Constellation theory (Hellinger, 2006). The third group acted as a control. After a period of time in clinical practice, the questionnaire was administered again and the results analysed and interpreted. The relationship between the students' fear of death and their age, previous experiences, ethnicity and spiritual beliefs was explored. Findings indicate that the interventions had a positive influence on reducing the students' fear of death. The qualitative part of the study involved semi-structured interviews with fifteen of the students who had completed both questionnaires. Their experiences of preparation for caring for dying people and of being in an intervention group were discussed. The interviews were analysed using interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPE). Influencing factors from home, such as cultural issues, and from within the clinical context, such as mentorship, were identified. The thesis contributes to nursing education and practice by showing that early preparation for caring for dying people can be effective in reducing fear of death. Results demonstrate that there is value in using strategies to help the student to develop emotional and spiritual intelligence in order to prepare for aspects of dying, before they experience the death of a patient. This preparation enhances the quality of the therapeutic relationship between student and patient. Another outcome is that students need a particular quality of support, at home and in clinical practice and that there are particular implications for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) students. Mentors of students need to be trained to be sensitive to the students' needs when caring for people who are dying. Greater attention to preparation for death and care of the dying is likely to enhance the provision of end of life care and may also reduce attrition in first-year student nurses.

Vliv pořadí narození a pohlaví sourozenců na sexuální chování a preference / Influence of birth order and sex of siblings on sexual behavior and preferences

Daňková, Hana January 2021 (has links)
Ontogeny of a human being is influenced by several innate and environmental factors. One of the key environmental factors is family, its structure, and the dynamics of family relationships. These can depend, among other things, on the birth order. Relatively a lot of research has been conducted to study the effect of birth order on humans, but the area of human sexuality is often neglected. Research in this area has so far yielded relatively inconsistent results and needs to be expanded further with new knowledge. That is the main goal of this diploma thesis. In our cross-sectional study, 4495 subjects from two-child families were analyzed. We performed a partial correlation analysis of birth order and selected variables related to human sexuality, considering the sex of siblings. Particular attention was paid to the first sexual experience, the number of sexual partners, sociosexual orientation (SOI-R), and dominant-submissive sexual preferences. We found that the order of birth is related to several of these variables (age of first sexual experience, number of sexual partners, sexual preferences), but the key role is played by the combination of the individual's gender and the sex of his sibling. These results should be followed up by more detailed research within specific families to verify the...

A Blind Constellation Agnostic VAE Channel Equalizer and Non Data-Assisted Synchronization

Reinholdsen, Fredrik January 2021 (has links)
High performance and high bandwidth wireless digital communication underlies much of modern society. Due to its high value to society, new and improved digital communication technologies, allowing even higher speeds, better coverage, and lower latency are constantly being developed. The field of Machine Learning has exploded in recent years, showing incredible promise and performance at many tasks in a wide variety of fields. Channel Equalization and synchronization are critical parts of any wireless communication system, to ensure coherence between the transmitter and receiver, and to compensate for the often severe channel conditions. This study mainly explores the use of a Variational Autoencoder (VAE) architecture, presented in a previous study, for blind channel equalization without access to pilot symbols or ground-truth data. This thesis also presents a new, non data-assisted method of carrier frequency synchronization based around the k-means clustering algorithm. The main addition of this thesis however is a constellation agnostic implementation of the reference VAE architecture, for equalization of all rectangular QAM constellations. The approach significantly outperforms the traditional blind adaptive Constant Modulus algorithm (CMA) on all tested constellations and signal to noise ratios (SNRs), nearly equaling the performance of a non-blind Least Mean Squares (LMS) based Decision Feedback Equalizer (DFE).

A Pareto-Frontier Analysis of Performance Trends for Small Regional Coverage LEO Constellation Systems

Hinds, Christopher Alan 01 December 2014 (has links) (PDF)
As satellites become smaller, cheaper, and quicker to manufacture, constellation systems will be an increasingly attractive means of meeting mission objectives. Optimizing satellite constellation geometries is therefore a topic of considerable interest. As constellation systems become more achievable, providing coverage to specific regions of the Earth will become more common place. Small countries or companies that are currently unable to afford large and expensive constellation systems will now, or in the near future, be able to afford their own constellation systems to meet their individual requirements for small coverage regions. The focus of this thesis was to optimize constellation geometries for small coverage regions with the constellation design limited between 1-6 satellites in a Walker-delta configuration, at an altitude of 200-1500km, and to provide remote sensing coverage with a minimum ground elevation angle of 60 degrees. Few Pareto-frontiers have been developed and analyzed to show the tradeoffs among various performance metrics, especially for this type of constellation system. The performance metrics focus on geometric coverage and include revisit time, daily visibility time, constellation altitude, ground elevation angle, and the number of satellites. The objective space containing these performance metrics were characterized for 5 different regions at latitudes of 0, 22.5, 45, 67.5, and 90 degrees. In addition, the effect of minimum ground elevation angle was studied on the achievable performance of this type of constellation system. Finally, the traditional Walker-delta pattern constraint was relaxed to allow for asymmetrical designs. These designs were compared to see how the Walker-delta pattern performs compared to a more relaxed design space. The goal of this thesis was to provide both a framework as well as obtain and analyze Pareto-frontiers for constellation performance relating to small regional coverage LEO constellation systems. This work provided an in-depth analysis of the trends in both the design and objective space of the obtained Pareto-frontiers. A variation on the εNSGA-II algorithm was utilized along with a MATLAB/STK interface to produce these Pareto-frontiers. The εNSGA-II algorithm is an evolutionary algorithm that was developed by Kalyanmoy Deb to solve complex multi-objective optimization problems. The algorithm used in this study proved to be very efficient at obtaining various Pareto-frontiers. This study was also successful in characterizing the design and solution space surrounding small LEO remote sensing constellation systems providing small regional coverage.

Adornos giv : Konstruktiva element i konstellationsbegreppet / Adorno’s Deal : The Constellation’s Constructive Elements

Hallén, Lo January 2023 (has links)
This paper explores aspects of Theodor W. Adorno’s concept of constellation, as presented in Negative dialectics, to show its potential as a method for addressing practical, political issues. While this can seem to contradict Adorno’s negative dialectics with its insistence on criticism rather than constructive proposals, the author seeks to develop the argumentation in line with Adorno’s critical theory. The essay moves through the background and aspects of the constellation, highlighting influences from Hegel and Benjamin, before discussing its constructive elements, with parallels to Adorno’s understanding of the relationship between theory and praxis. A reconstruction of Adorno’s use of the constellation in the lecture ”Aspects of the New Right-Wing Extremism”, acts as a structure for the final argumentation. The aim is to present an idea of the potential the constellation holds as a theoretical means for practical change that does not sustain status quo.

Ambivalences : suivi de : La polyphonie dans La constellation du Lynx : un dialogue explorant l’Histoire

Poissant, Maude 19 April 2018 (has links)
