The investigation is instigated by two assumptions: 1) understanding the mainstream media as an institution integrated, and originated, in the capitalist system, it is the focus of complex struggles of/for power to influence the production of meanings and social representations – i.e., its a privileged space for the recognition of (in)existence and (in)visibility of voices, themes and worlds, thus collaborating in the reconstruction of reality; 2) in Brazilian society, transgender people are one of the political/identity groups that, on daily bases, experience social marginalization – structural, many of the transphobic/ cissexists violence they face are the result, and result, from / in the deletion of their voices, historically pathologized/ criminalized by 'official' knowledge (mostly built by medicine and psychological sciences, reproduced in various public and private spaces). Our hypothesis is that the media is, also, space of (re)production of violence and exclusion of transgender people - a hypothesis that at the end we found to be true. Thus, the work has three main objectives: 1) to analyze the discourses produced (jan.2014 - jan.2015) on Aqui PE and Jornal do Commercio (printed versions) about transsexuality(s); 2) through semi-structured interviews with some of those involved in news production (publishers of the analyzed books), provide clues about some of the conceptions of transsexuality circulating in newsroom and newspapers, as well as other variables that condition the construction of news topics; 3) tacking theories derived mainly from Journalism Theories, Critical Discourse Studies and Queer Studies, reflect on the possibilities of discursive change, therefore social changes, about transgenderity and, necessary- simultaneously, cisgenderity.

Ferreira, José Augusto Gerônimo January 2019 (has links)
(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: This dissetation is na invitation to embark on a cartographic research/trip that tells about nonbinary Trans* life and resistance in university contexts. Added to this research three narratives of interior youth who identify themselves as non-binary Trans* people and echo their voices and resistances in different Higher Education Institutions, two of them located in cities in the interior of the state of Paraná and the third inland from the state of São Paulo. The cartographic experience occurred through the displacement of this researcher to the territory of composition, where the meetings, interviews and follow-up of the proceduralities that take place in the daily life of the universities took place. Through the travel device - named in the course of the construction of this map/dissertation, as a cartographic way of producing knowledge/experience - we connect the Star, Moon and Sky that embarked with us and shared part of the luggage that they bring in their bodies/experimentation. In unraveling the lines that run through this experience, we are allied with the concerns of the Philosophy of Difference, Feminist Studies, Queers and Transfeminist perspectives, as well as Cartography itself, in order to search for the following clues: map the agencies that cross the experiences of Trans* people non-binaries in the context of Higher Education Institutions, as well as accompanying the deterritorialization and reterritorialization movements provoked by els with, to and at the u... [en] BECAUSE THEY LOOK LIKE GIRLS OR ACT LIKE GIRLS: ERASURE OF NON-BINARY IDENTITIES IN TRANSLATIONS OF THE HOUSEKI NO KUNI MANGA / [pt] PORQUE ELAS APARENTAM SER MENINAS OU AGEM COMO MENINAS: APAGAMENTO DE IDENTIDADES NÃO-BINÁRIAS EM TRADUÇÕES DO MANGÁ HOUSEKI NO KUNI

FELIPE DUARTE PINHEIRO 27 April 2021 (has links)
[en] The research entitled Because they look like girls or act like girls: erasure of non-binary identities in translations of the Houseki no kuni manga analyzes five translations of the referred manga - two professional translations, one into English and one into French ; and three amateur translations, one into Portuguese, one into Spanish and one into English - and how they dealt with the non-binary gender of the characters. The objective was to examine the ways in which cis-heteronormative ideologies and hegemonic translation ideologies can lead to the erasure of LGBTQAI (plus) identities. The analysis of the data showed that all the translations to Neo-Latin languages, as well as the amateur translation into English designated a gender to the characters. In the case of Neo-Latin languages, the analysis of meta and paratexts suggests that the grammatical gender of these languages played an important role in erasing the non-binary gender of the characters. However, there was also evidence of the influence of cis-heteronormative ideologies in the choice of translation strategies employed. Among the translations analyzed, only the professional translation into English did not designate a gender to the characters. However, the analysis of metatextual sources revealed that translation ideologies related to the idea of fluency were behind the translation strategies used, resulting in a translation that maintains the non-binary gender of the characters, but does not make it visible. By studying the cis-heteronormative and translation ideologies that underlie the translation strategies employed, this research contributes to understand how LGBTQAI (plus) identities can be easily erased in translations and propose ways to make them visible in order to fight cis-heteronormative hegemony.

[en] BETWEEN CONTROL AND REPRESSION: NARRATIVES ABOUT THE CONSTRUCTION OF EXPERIENCE OF THE RELATIONSHIP OF LGBTQIA+ PEOPLE WITH THEIR FAMILIES / [pt] ENTRE CONTROLE E REPRESSÃO: NARRATIVAS SOBRE A CONSTRUÇÃO DE EXPERIÊNCIA DA RELAÇÃO DE LGBTQIA+ COM SEUS FAMILIARES

ALEX BARROSO DE FIGUEIREDO 26 May 2022 (has links)
[en] Taking into account the processes of normalization of experiences of gender and sexuality in the family context, the present work focuses on the life stories of people who identify themselves as LGBTQIA+ regarding their life experiences with their family. As part in the contemporary researches of Applied Linguistics – which has been intending to understand the processes of production of vulnerability and subalternity in discursive and social practices – the processes of identity construction (performance) in these narratives as well as the respective discourses that support it are investigated. In a qualitative and interpretative research methodological bias, data were generated through interview with men and women whose performances correspond to the above-mentioned spectrum of sexualities; for the analysis it was chosen the narratives of three participants. For this, it was mobilized discussions and tools proper to the Narrative Analysis, Intercultural Sociolinguistics and Queer Linguistics. The analysis follows the laminar division in three parts. In the first, it is intent to demonstrate how identities are indexed through sequential relations in the production of causality and through evaluations in order to produce the family as a repressive institution. In the second, based on the face work, we seek to show how a stigma negotiation occurs in the interaction. Finally, based on lexical choices and evaluative sequences, it is intent to show how the Discourse of Repression is indexed in the narratives. From this, it was possible to understand how identity performances not coherent with cis-heternormative values triggered process of control, regulation and repression.
