Sandqvist, Rickard January 2022 (has links)
Abstracts Does post-industrialized countries face a second Kuznets curve with the IT revolution? By: Rickard Sandqvist, Supervisor: Ulf Jansson, Urban and regional planning, advanced level, Master thesis for master exam in Urban and regional planning, 30 ECTS credits, Language: English, Key words: recent income inequality trends, the creative class, kuznets hypothesis and theories of income inequality, income inequality with the IT revolution in post-industrialized countries, SURE estimation, OLS estimation, income inequality measures.  The aim of the thesis is to analyze the development of income inequality for countries that have longer time series available. I use theories and hypothesises of income inequality and do some development of Kuznets hypothesis. My research question is: does post-industrialized countries face a second Kuznets curve with the IT revolution? I use OLS (ordinary least square) and SURE (seemingly unrelated regression equation) estimations to answer my research question. I use data from the world bank and I analyze data from mainly countries in europe and north and south america. My results is that there is evidence that post industrialised countries face a second Kuznets curve and I do the conclusion that this is depending on the IT revolution.

Låtskrivare = Entreprenör? : En kvalitativ studie om likheter mellan föreställningar om låtskrivare och entreprenörer / Songwriter = Entrepreneur? : A qualitative study of similarities between preconceptionsof songwriters and entrepreneurs

Sundelin, Oscar January 2018 (has links)
The purpose of the study is to examine similarities between the role as a songwriter with the role as an entrepreneur, as well as the conceptions about working with songwriting. To examine this three questions was asked: What similarities are there between the role as a songwriter and the role as an entrepreneur? What characteristics are described as important to succeed as a songwriter compared to those of an entrepreneur? What conceptions are there about working with songwriting? As a foundation for the thesis the history of the music industry is depicted in its own chapter with focus on the sales of music from the 15th century until today. The chapter describes how the music industry for a long time used sheet music as the main way to distribute new music. In the end of the 19th century the record industry started to emerge with the development of record players. During the 20th century the industry went through a lot of changes where new technology like the radio and the TV became important channels to reach a bigger audience. In the beginning of the 21st century the record sales plummeted as the music market became more and more dominated by different streaming services. The thesis empirical data is based on eight interviews, including a group interview, conducted in Los Angeles with four Swedish and seven American informants. It is also based on a forum thread from a Swedish music forum on the internet. The results from the interviews are first described in an overview and then divided into three categories; aspiring songwriters, songwriters in the music industry and informants working with songwriters. The results from the interviews shows that a songwriter should be a good person to collaborate with, be good at establishing important contacts in the music industry, and pay attention the administrative work of accounting, contracts and agreements. From the forum thread of the music forum disappointment is expressed about how DJ’s do not single handedly write and produce all the music they are attributed to in the media.   The analysis shows that professional songwriters have much in common with entrepreneurs because they both need to take risks, be creative, and start business. The similarities between the conceptions of what is required to succeed as a professional songwriter with what it takes to succeed as an entrepreneur includes having a good idea, having a supportive environment as well as being involved in marketing, sales and administration. Furthermore, the analysis shows that the work of songwriting is often glorified or overlooked, which creates misleading representations of what the work of a songwriter actually consists of.

Bilder av lokal näringslivsutveckling : exemplet Värnamo

Röllgårdh, Martin January 2011 (has links)
The main aim of this licentiate thesis is to examine how local actors in a medium-sized Swedish municipality, Värnamo, in their role as decision-makers at the local arena, describe and explain the preconditions and strategies for local economic and social development. The analysis uses semi-structured interviews to reveal the connections between the local actors representations of social and economic structures and their representations of central and future strategic choices. The local actors are represented by a) firm owners or central firm managers, b) local politicians in the municipal executive board, c) civil servants in central positions and d) key actors connected to local and regional organizations. The methodological approach is based on discourse analysis. The overall aim of the study is to understand how local discourses are constructed and communicated. The analysis is deepened by relating the local discourses to relevant theoretical models in contemporary economic geography. The economic-geographical theoretical models used in the analysis focus on industrial districts, clusters and innovation systems. Path-dependency, social embeddedness and creative class are other concepts of importance to understand the formation of the local discourse. The analysis shows how local discourses are affected by the perceived globalization process while being at the same time linked to a) specific historical and environmental factors leading to predominant behavioral norms and values stating that you should be hard working, economical, cooperative and trustworthy and b) the relative location, which is conceived to be central regarding communications and regional service functions. This is combined with an image of a creative and innovative local/regional production system, based on traditions in manufacturing and trade. The foundations in manufacturing and trade are however challenged by new sectors like logistics, design, and higher education in cooperation with universities in the region.

文創老店長春模式分析---以京都三家文創老店為個案研究 / Evergreen Creative Industry Model Three Case Studies of Three Creative Industries in Kyoto

莊素玉, Chuang, Su Yu Unknown Date (has links)
As technolgy innovations accelerate, creative industries have gained more prominance in our daily life in the 20th century.Creative Industries have drawn attentions in every develped country.Whether Taiwan can attract the new creative class and culture glitterati will determine Taiwan's path fo development. The creative industries have gained more and more influence in today's society. The so-called "Creative Class" is the most primary and significant social class in the 21th century. The creative class is concerned about environment, human rights, peace, and spiritual wealth. They are the forerunners of civil movement and student activism in the 1960s. The countries, regions, and cities, who failed to attract creative class, will face the inevitable fate of decline. This study attempts to explore the reason of longevity and sustainibilty of Kyoto's creative industries. Through the methodology of case studies. This thesis draws on theories of Richard Florida, Elizabeth Currid、 Nobuyuki Idei 、Takashi Murakami、Yuichiro Nonaka、Ken Mogi、Renfan Lee This thesis focus on deep analysis of one 400-years-old 唐長 and discussion on other 2 craftmanship and creative enterprises in Kyoto to arrive at the conclusion of ever-gr0wing vitality of Kyoto's creative industries. This studies find out that the old creative industries in Kyoto has absorbed the historial tradition, geographical characteristic, and culture uniqueness of Kyoto. The core philosophy of management is familial succession. The historical tradition, geographical characteristics and family management have become implicit knowledge and gives birth to Kyoto-unique organic learning organiztion. This research suggests that private enterpreneur should learn from local history and local culture and distill geniune local flavors, refine the aesthetic flavors into "knowledge spiral," and make the implicit knowledge of knowledge to pass on to future generations. The second advice is that county and local government should encourage the preservation of local culture and culture tourism to lay the foundation for future new creative enterpreneurship.
