Examensarbete, Konstnärlig kandidatutbildning Musiker Jazz

This bachelor thesis is about writing and producing music for the specific purpose of being used in American drama television shows. It began with an analysis of a number of different television shows and how they use popular music. Based on that analysis, I then wrote seven songs that were supposed to work in a similar scenario. I also recorded and arranged three of these songs.

Musikproducenten som fonogramproducent The Music Producer as a Record Producer   I denna undersökning har jag kombinerat rollen som musikproducent med en fonogramproducents arbete med syftet att testa på att utöka mina egna kunskaper. För att göra detta har jag tagit fram en musikprodukt i genren singer-songwriter efter en referens och underlaget för denna studie har varit böcker, artiklar, hemsidor och praktisk erfarenhet.   Med hjälp av detta underlag har jag redogört för de båda rollernas arbete samt för referensalbumet:s arbetssätt. Jag har även gjort en analys av det klingande materialet för att kartlägga mina erfarenheter och saker som jag upplever för att sedan applicera detta på mitt egna skapande. Detta arbete mynnade sedan ut i ett uppdrag som jag arbetade utefter.   Mitt skapande har baserats kring redan färdiga låtar som jag arrangerat och producerat ihop. Processen bestod av förproduktioner, inspelning mixning och pre-mastring som gjordes i enlighet med projektets uppdragsbeskrivning.   Resultatet hamnade i låtar vars sound är nära referensen, samt tankar och reflektioner kring rollkombinationen i praktiken.

Denna uppsats handlar om att skriva låtar utifrån tre förutbestämda strategier. Jag valde att skriva med utgångspunkt från strategierna skriva texten först, utgå ifrån en trumloop och utgå ifrån textmässig hook i låtformen AADA.Förhoppningen med de givna förutsättningarna var att främja skapandeprocessen, korta startfasen, minska självkritiken, utveckla textskrivandet, bredda typen av karaktär på låtar och till sist variera den typ av form som låtarna vanligtvis utmynnar i. Under mitt arbete har jag kommit fram till att tydliga ramar underlättar och för arbetet framåt. / <p>Bilaga: 1 CD</p>

Det här projektet handlar om att utveckla mitt låtskrivande och vikten av att få både input och output från mina medmusiker och därigenom inspiration till att komponera och arrangera. Jag skriver låtar i genren pop/singer-songwriter men då jag själv är violinist har jag valt att spela med bara stråkinstrument och sång. Bandet består av mig som sjunger och spelar fiol, en cellist och en violinist som även sjunger. I arbetet kan man läsa om processen genom komponerande, arrangerande och repeterande av de fyra låtarna jag har skrivit. Målet är att skriva låtar, arrangera dem, repetera dem, spela in dem i studio, mixa låtarna och sedan spela dem på en konsert. Dessutom finns det ett mål att utvecklas musikaliskt och personligt och våga stå för den musik jag skriver. Nu finns låtarna upplagda på internet (http:// soundcloud.com/violinne) och jag är mycket nöjd med resultatet. / This project is about developing my songwriting and the importance of getting both input and output from my fellow musicians and thereby inspired to compose and arrange. I write songs in the genre of pop / singer-songwriter but as I myself am a violinist, I have chosen to play with only stringed instruments and vocals. The band consists of me singing and playing the violin, a cello and a violin player who also sings. In this project, you can read about the process by composing, arranging and repeating the four songs I've written. The goal is to write songs, arrange them, repeat them, record them in the studio, mix songs and have a public play. [pt] A composição pode ser o espaço de imersão intimamente ligada ao viver. Quando se trata de mulheres que criam, reforçando temas femininos, temos a música assumindo o compromisso de fazer política, ultrapassando as fronteiras de gêneros e mostrando que o subalterno pode falar em um mercado dominado por um conservadorismo machista. Esta tese tem por objetivo reconstituir criticamente a história de algumas cantoras compositoras do Brasil a partir de entrevistas com representantes de sete estilos musicais que se impuseram no cenário musical brasileiro na segunda metade do século XX. Partindo da expressão cantautora, utilizada para designar esse tipo de artista na maioria dos países de língua neolatina, mas não no Brasil, o objetivo é reiterar a faceta autora de cantoras consagradas e discutir os seguintes pontos: suas experiência em um mercado dominado predominantemente pelo gênero masculino; se o canto as fazem criar ou se as criações as levam a cantar; quais suas inspirações; o que as move em direção à composição; e o que, afinal, elas falaram e que, segundo elas, não foi dito pelos homens. Essas e outras questões esclarecerão a multiplicidade dessas artistas e mostrarão a importância das cantautoras para a cultura brasileira. / [en] The composition might also be the immersive space closely linked to living. When it comes to women who create, reinforcing feminine themes, music starts to make politics, crossing gender boundaries, and showing that the subaltern can speak in a market dominated by male chauvinism. This Ph. D. dissertation aims to critically reconstruct from interviews the history of some Brazilian songwriters representing seven musical styles that prevailed on the Brazilian music scene in the second half of the 20th century. Based on the expression cantautora, used to designate a female singer and songwriter in most neolatin languages-speaking countries, but not in Brazil, the objective is to emphasize the author role of those established singers and discuss the following points: their experience in a predominantly dominated market by the male gender; whether singing makes them create or whether creations lead them to sing; what are their inspirations; what moves them towards composition; and what, after all, they said and which, according to them, was not said by men. These and other questions will illustrate the multiple talents of these artists and show the importance of cantautoras for Brazilian culture.

Arbetet behandlar orsaker till ett kreativt motstånd och flöde. Mitt syfte är att ta reda på vad som driver människor att skapa inom området för låtskrivare/artister. Hur hanterar man idétorka och ”skrivkramp” och finns det någon metod för att upprätthålla ett kreativt flöde? Jag har intervjuat sex personer som alla är verksamma som låtskrivare och artister samt använt mig av litteraturstudium. I mitt arbete har jag kommit fram till att skrivkramp kan uppstå av många olika anledningar. Något som de har gemensamt är att alla verkar vara i behov av självvald ensamhet för att komma in i ett kreativt flöde. / The study deals with the causes of creative resistance and flow. My purpose is to examine underlying causes of creating in the field of songwriter / artists. How does one deal with resistance, and is there a method to maintain a creative flow? I have interviewed six people who are active as songwriters and artists, as well as consulting relevant texts. During the study, I have concluded that everyone in one way or another has experienced "writer's cramp", but for different reasons. What appears to be common, is that everyone exhibits a need of self-chosen solitude to attain a creative flow.

The topic of the thesis is the issue of the status of songwriter Jaromír Nohavica and his work in the period of normalization. The contemporary circumstances and the context of the origin of his songs are hidden for the majority of people (especially for the younger generation). The basic question of the thesis is how far is the period of normalization in relation to the political system reflected in the songwriter's personal life and lyrics of his songs. The work is methodologically based on quantitative and qualitative content analysis and analysis of the period of normalization. The quantitative and qualitative content analysis is very unusual for political scinece.

Denna intervjustudie har genomförts med syftet att undersöka hur låtskrivaren och låtskrivarläraren upplever sin livsvärld och genom den synliggöra låtskrivarlärarens pedagogiska grundsyn. För att undersöka fenomenet har kvalitativa forskningsintervjuer genomförts med fyra låtskrivare och lärare i ämnet låtskrivning. Informanterna är verksamma i gymnasieskolan som musiklärare. Resultatet och analysen sker med ett hermeneutiskt och fenomenologiskt förhållningssätt ur ett livsvärldsperspektiv. Intervjustudien har visat att informanterna upplever att deras skrivande hjälper dem att vara strukturerade, fokuserade och att färdigställa och nå resultat, samt bearbeta impulser och känslor. Alla informanter vittnar om hur skrivandet blivit ett sätt för informanterna att bearbeta händelser i livet, lätta som komplicerade, en slags terapi. Passionen för sitt skrivande har stärkts och kommit att bli ett med informanterna ju längre tid som gått och ju mer tid informanterna har gett åt musiken. De menar att inspirationen är något som kommer av ”görandet” och att det går att framkalla om man bara sätter igång, samt att viljan att äga sitt eget konstnärskap är en viktig komponent i skapandet som driver låtskrivaren framåt. / This interview study has been conducted with the purpose of investigating how the songwriter and songwriting teacher experience their life-world and by it visualize the songwriter's pedagogical perspective. Qualitative research interviews have been made with four songwriters and teachers in the subject of songwriting to investigate the phenomenon. The informants are active in the upper secondary school as music teachers. The result and analysis is done with a hermeneutic and phenomenological approach from a life-world perspective. Interview studies have shown that the informants find that their writing helps them to be structured, focused and to complete and achieve results, as well as process impulses and feelings. All informants testify to how the writing has become a way for informants to process events in life, easy as complicated, as a kind of therapy. The passion for their writing has been strengthened and become one with the informants the longer time passed and the more time the informants have given the music. They claim that inspiration is something that comes from the "making" and that it can be evoked if you only get started, and that the desire to own your own artistry is an important component of the creation that drive the songwriter forward.
