Silva, Leonardo Roberto da 26 March 2002 (has links)
Researchers and industry personnel around the world are firmly committed to the purpose of doing the machining process dramatically faster and more precise. The present work aims at the study of several insert geometries of ceramic tools (Al2O3 + SiCw and Al2O3 + TiC) and PCBN, with two concentrations of CBN, in the standard format and with modifications on the cutting edge geometry, working in the high speed turning of nickel based superaIloys (lnconel 718 and Waspaloy]. MateriaIs were heat treated to hardness of 44 and 40 HRC, respectively, and machined under dry cutting condition and also with minimal quantity of lubricant (MQL) to attend environmental requirements. The nickel based superalloys are known as difficult to cut materials due to their high hardness, high mechanical strength at high temperature, chemical affinity to tool materiaIs and lower thermal conductivity. The machining of superalloys affects negatively the integrity of the workpiece. For this reason, tool life and surface integrity of the machined component must be carefully analyzed throughout the control of the main machining parameters. Practical experiments were implemented using several cutting conditions and tool geometries to evaluate the following parameters: cutting force, temperature, acoustic emission and surface integrity (surface finishing, residual stress, microhardeness and microstructure) and wear mechanisms. Analyzing the results, the most suitable geometry for the mentioned parameters is recommended and the efficiency of the MQL technical is confirmed. Among all inserts and geometries tested, the CC650 ceramic tool presented better results, followed by the CC670 ceramic tool, both with round format and edge geometry number 2 (chamfer in T 0,15 x 15° with hone of 0,03 mm).

Dynamic Programming Algorithms for Semantic Dependency Parsing / Algoritmer för semantisk dependensparsning baserade på dynamisk programmering

Axelsson, Nils January 2017 (has links)
Dependency parsing can be a useful tool to allow computers to parse text. In 2015, Kuhlmann and Jonsson proposed a logical deduction system that parsed to non-crossing dependency graphs with an asymptotic time complexity of O(n3), where “n” is the length of the sentence to parse. This thesis extends the deduction system by Kuhlmann and Jonsson; the extended deduction system introduces certain crossing edges, while maintaining an asymptotic time complexity of O(n4). In order to extend the deduction system by Kuhlmann and Jonsson, fifteen logical item types are added to the five proposed by Kuhlmann and Jonsson. These item types allow the deduction system to intro-duce crossing edges while acyclicity can be guaranteed. The number of inference rules in the deduction system is increased from the 19 proposed by Kuhlmann and Jonsson to 172, mainly because of the larger number of combinations of the 20 item types. The results are a modest increase in coverage on test data (by roughly 10% absolutely, i.e. approx. from 70% to 80%), and a comparable placement to that of Kuhlmann and Jonsson by the SemEval 2015 task 18 metrics. By the method employed to introduce crossing edges, derivational uniqueness is impossible to maintain. It is hard to defien the graph class to which the extended algorithm, QAC, parses, and it is therefore empirically compared to 1-endpoint crossing and graphs with a page number of two or less, compared to which it achieves lower coverage on test data. The QAC graph class is not limited by page number or crossings. The takeaway of the thesis is that extending a very minimal deduction system is not necessarily the best approach, and that it may be better to start off with a strong idea of to which graph class the extended algorithm should parse. Additionally, several alternative ways of extending Kuhlmann and Jonsson are proposed.

Reconstruction statistique 3D à partir d’un faible nombre de projections : application : coronarographie RX rotationnelle / 3D statistical reconstruction from a small number of projections. application : XR rotational coronarography

Oukili, Ahmed 16 December 2015 (has links)
The problematic of this thesis concerns the statistical iterative 3D reconstruction of coronary tree from a very few number of coronary angiograms (5 images). During RX rotational angiographic exam, only projections corresponding to the same cardiac phase are selected in order to check the condition of space and time non-variability of the object to reconstruct (static reconstruction). The limited number of projections complicates the reconstruction, considered then as an illness inverse problem. The answer to a similar problem needs a regularization process. To do so, we choose baysian formalism considering the reconstruction as a random field maximizing the posterior probability (MAP), composed by quadratic likelihood terms (attached to data) and Gibbs prior (prior markovian based on a partial interpretation of the object to reconstruct). The MAP maximizing allowed us using a numerical optimization algorithm, to introduce a smoothing constraint and preserve the edges on the reconstruction while choosing wisely the potential functions associated to prior energy. In this paper, we have discussed in details the three components of efficient statistical reconstruction MAP, which are : 1- the construction of precise physical model of acquisition process; 2- the selection of an appropriate prior model; and 3- the definition of an efficient iterative optimization algorithm. This discussion lead us to propose two iterative algorithms MAP, MAP-MNR and MAP-ARTUR-GC, which we have tested and evaluated on realistic simulated data (Patient data from 64-slice CT).

Spojování obrazů podle tvaru hran / Coupling of images

Gorgol, Martin January 2014 (has links)
This master’s thesis describes the design and implementation of the application that created the basis set pieces "puzzle" according to the shape of the folded edges of the original image. This application is developed using Matlab. The work also describes how to create a database of actual pieces of the puzzle composite photo image. Closer was also focused on finding the characteristic section points, their segmentation and appropriate description. There is dismantled procedure for selecting the types of symptoms and their extraction. On the basis of suitably described pieces of segmented parts is designed and implemented the algorithm of comparing and grouping into clusters. Using the proposed method of visualization is then displayed in the resulting composite picture puzzle.

Recombination dynamics of optically generated small polarons and self-trapped excitons in lithium niobate

Messerschmidt, Simon 02 July 2019 (has links)
Quasi-particles formed in lithium niobate after pulse exposure were investigated by transient absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopy as well as numerical simulations. This includes the formation process, the transport through the crystal, interim pinning on defects during the relaxation process, and the final recombination with deep centers. It was shown that the charge-transport through the crystal can be described by a hopping transport including different types of hops between regular or defective lattice sites, i.e., the transport includes a mixture of free and bound small polarons. Furthermore, the different types of hops connected with varying activation energies and their distribution are responsible for an altered temporal decay curve when changing the crystal composition or temperature. Additionally, it was shown that the hitherto accepted recombination model is insufficient to describe all transient absorption and luminescence effects in lithium niobate under certain experimental conditions, i.e., long-living absorption dynamics in the blue/UV spectral range do not follow the typical polaron dynamics and cannot be described under the assumption of charge compensation. However, similar decay characteristics between self-trapped excitons known from photoluminescence spectroscopy and the unexpected behavior of the transient absorption were found leading to a revised model. This includes, besides the known polaron relaxation and recombination branch, a significant role of self-trapped excitons and their pinning on defects (pinned STEs). Since the consideration of further absorption centers in the relaxation path after pulse exposure might result in misinterpretations of previously determined polaron absorption cross-sections and shapes, the necessity to perform a review became apparent. Therefore, a supercontinuum pump-probe experiment was designed and all measurements applied under the same experimental conditions (temperature, polarization) so that one can extract the absorption amplitudes of the single quasi-particles in a spectral range of 0.7-3.0eV. The detailed knowledge might be used to deconvolve the absorption spectra and transform them to number densities of the involved centers which enables one to obtain an easier insight into recombination and decay dynamics of small polarons and self-trapped excitons. As the hopping transport of quasi-particles and the concept of pinned STEs might be fundamental processes, a thorough understanding opens up the possibility of their exploitation in various materials. In particular, results presented herein are not only limited to lithium niobate and its applications; an extension to a wide range of further strongly polar crystals in both their microscopic processes and their use in industry can be considered.
