January 2011 (has links)
The experimental procedures with regard to metalinguistic resources, such as the verbal-visual configuration, the handling of the poetic language and the construction of narration point of view, used by the authoress in her poetic laboratory, are verified. Prior to such procedures, data about the authoress and her literary work are provided and the story of the selected narratives and their respective themes are given. The concept of performance, highlighted for the analysis of experimental resources, is analyzed owing to the metalinguistic nature materialized in these narratives in which narration often coincides with doing. Within the above point of view, Lygia Bojunga‟s writings are analyzed according to the graphic, linguistic and discursive performance aspects. Investigation of these resources is undertaken by studying the verbal-visual structure by means of which the text literally manifests itself and configures uncannily the interaction between text and reader. Further, the handling of the poetic language is examined, taking into account playfulness and its effects on the reader. Finally, the narrative enunciation is analyzed with regard to the articulation and the dramatization of discursive voices. Whereas in the first aspect, fusion and alternation of voices in the discourse are investigated, in the second, the presentification of narrative events and the demonstrative character of signs in their deictic construction are analyzed. Within the composition process the here-and-now of the enunciation is consequently enhanced / Doutor

My Way or the Highway and A Correspondence: Visual Representations of the CitySheldon, Larkin J 01 January 2015 (has links)
This Capstone Project encompasses two videos, each representing different ways to visually structure the experience of “the city”.
The first video, "My Way or the Highway", is a 5 minute piece examining Los Angeles Transportation systems. Through observational footage and a poetic editing style, I compare and contrast the experience of traveling via public and private transportation. Through this video I aim to encourage the viewer to consider their own transportation options whether it is in Los Angeles or anywhere else around the world.
The second is a 12 minute video, titled "A Correspondence" structured as a correspondence between Seattle and Los Angeles as if they were personified discussing what it means to be a developing/growing city and the responsibilities it entails. Visually I present a combination of footage from L.A. and Seattle to create an "impossible city" making the viewer second guess from where the footage originates, emphasizing the difference between learning about a city from others and learning about a city through experience. In "A Correspondence" I aim to provide an experience that forces the viewer to realize their own interactions with cities and how their view is shaped by their specific experiences, making everybody's view of a city subjective.

Rytmen bor i mina steg : En rytmanalytisk studie om kropp, stad och kunskap / The rhythm lives in my steps : A rhythm-analytical study of body, city and knowledgeJohansson, Sara January 2013 (has links)
This thesis brings together a fascination with the city and a keen interest in the knowledge process. The point of departure is the bodily, sensory and emotional experience. That the author uses her own perceptions and experiences and is preoccupied with her own knowledge process means that she writes herself into an autoethnographic context. She also experiments with the writing and allows it to take on a more literary form as she writes about her own sensory impressions and feelings. The term rhythmanalysis is employed as a way of assessing, exploring, interpreting and understanding the world that embraces the embodied experience. Human beings are embodied beings, a claim we can make by referring to our own experiences as well as how we perceive, communicate and interact. The study delves into two aspects of rhythmanalysis, first as a way of describing the knowledge process as rhythm-analytical, which implies that bodily experiences are equally important as intellectual ones, and secondly as a way of talking about the city as polyrhythmic. It follows upon the latter that embodied rhythmanalysis of the city is possible. The rhythmanalysis may ultimately be seen as a project aimed at overthrowing the Cartesian dualism between body and mind. That we are embodied has a methodological consequence that is as simple as it is essential: the scholar exists in the world she studies. The researcher is not a neutral observer. She is a co-creator. She is a body, placed in time, space and history. She is situated, which means that her knowledge is also situated. Thus, the rhythmanalysis encompasses the body, the senses and feelings, and can be described with one key word: movement. It finds support in theories that acknowledge the fluid, the becoming, the situated, the performative, the relational, the dynamic, the material. It seeks methods that experiment, that focus on practices rather than discourses, that are preoccupied with a movable world rather than a static one.

Humor a kritika v díle Pantaleón a jeho ženská rota Maria VargaseLlosy / Humour and critique in Pantaleón y las visitadoras from Mario Vargas LlosaFrimlová, Petra January 2015 (has links)
OF THE THESIS: The novel Captain Pantoja and the Special Service introduces the second period of Mario Vargas Llosa's literary production, which is caracterized by the simplification of the narration and the discovery of humour. The thesis focuses on the formal and thematic analysis of the novel with the objective to prove that despite the novel is in general humorous and parodic, there could be found some constant topics, known to the readers from Llosa's previous novels, which he had always treated very critically, and he also did so in this erotic and humorous work. Therefore, apart from the analysis of humour the thesis also examines the critical approach to the social problems present in the novel. The analysis also shows that the narration is slightly simplified in comparison to the author's formers works, but it still perfectly demonstrates the unconventional narrative techniques, which Vargas Llosa has used since the 1960's, since the period of the new hispano-american novel. KEY WORDS: Mario Vargas Llosa, Captain Pantoja and the Special Service, The Time of the Hero, The Green House, Latin American boom, Hispano-American new novel, total novel, experimental narrative techniques, types of humour and irony, humorous prose, parody, erotic novel, libertine prose, rainforest, criticism of the...
