Les bannières religieuses : une approche du catholicisme bas-breton : 1805-2012 / Religious bannels : an approach of lower Britanny catholicism : 1805-2012

Guillou, Christiane 18 December 2013 (has links)
This thesis is about catholicism in Lower Brittany through the study of processional banners from the beginning of the 19th century to our days. These were found in tthe churches of the diocese of Quimper and Leon , in the french county of Finistere. The thesis is divided into four parts : the production of banners, their counting from the various types of available inventories, devotion which they highlight, even social evolution of which testify. The approach is quantitative and qualitative. It involves a systematic visit of churches and the conservation of a photographic record of all their banners. Classic sources are used such as the reportsof the canonical visits, and others vho are less so the inventories of 1906.The study of the life of two parishes, a deanship dating from the concordat and a former episcopal city, allowed to highlight the generative motives of the acquisition of banners. If parochial banners are the norm, the banners of congregations reflect the dynamism of the groups of devotion and their evolution in the course of the centuries.Quantitative approaches allow to propose a hypothesis of reponse to the policy of the Laic laws by interposed banners, in parallel to social evolutions. If the iconography shows a distant influence of the arts, it is especially the importance of trade that appears. However it leaves possibilities of expression for a different creativity and even for a different spirituality. The last chapters concerrn the revival starting from the seond third of the 20th century. The last chapter is dedicated to the banners made for the Mission 2012.

Processes of feelings in a society with a violent past : A qualitative study of the communication for Societal healing in the Truth Commissions in East Timor, Sri Lanka and Ghana between 2002-2011

Lindeby, Susanna January 2013 (has links)
The research investigates in what extent and how communication for meeting feelings is provided in Truth Commission work. It examines if and in what way feelings are addressed in the communication officially published by the Truth Commissions in East Timor, Ghana and Sri Lanka, occurring between 2002-2011. The research is also looking at the healing processes in a time perspective to find out if there is a communication for Societal healing to be continued in a longer term. My conclusion is that two cases of three in my research, the TRCs in Ghana and East Timor, have communication clearly directed to meet feelings caused by the war. One of the three cases (East Timor) has a communication with a clear ambition to heal over a longer period, to continue after the existence of the Truth Commission. The research suggests that communication with a clear ambition to reach out widely in the society, a communication directed to meet and process feelings over a longer period, can make Societal healing more effective. It also concludes that, in the future, Societal healing, as a field in conflict resolution, will be more based on representational media than today, provided through web communication.

The indigenous rights of personality with particular reference to the Swazi in the kingdom of Swaziland

Anspach, Philip 30 November 2004 (has links)
This study was undertaken to establish whether rights of personality are known in indigenous law. Since indigenous law differs not only between tribes but is also affected by the degree of exposure to Western values, a micro-study has been done in a semi-rural environment in the Kingdom of Swaziland to establish to what extent own value systems have been influenced or altered when Western legal concepts are utilised. The information, obtained by interviewing a panel of experts, was compared with the available literature. During the process of gathering information, the aims of the research were not only to describe how the legal principles function, but also to take note of those socio-cultural processes which function outside of the law. Rights of personality were studied against a background of the culture and way of life of the peoples concerned. The importance of culture has been acknowledged in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, wherein the recognition and application of indigenous law generally rests on a constitutionally protected right to culture. Whilst the identifiable rights of personality may generally be classified according to specialised legal systems, the separation of rights to good name and to dignity may be inappropriate in the indigenous sphere. Dignity in indigenous legal systems is to be viewed as a comprehensive right of personality, into which should be subsumed the right to good name and reputation in the community. It is such dignity, embracing the ubuntu quality of humanness that is protected as a comprehensive indigenous right of personality. Although the indigenous law of personality is showing some signs of adapting to new developments, there is also proof that the established legal principles and human values are being retained. However, these changes are unique and are neither typically traditional nor Western. The indigenous law of personality, operating in a changing social environment, has to retain its flexibility and adaptability in order to remain ”living” law for the peoples concerned. / Jurisprudence / LL.D.

At the core of the current studies on human behaviour and its relations with the various institutions in which man can be seen inserted include efforts aimed at understanding the role and value of the contribution of human beings to working environment and strengthening of organizations. Increasing have shown the concern and understanding about the factors that impact the general welfare, the well-being at work, workers' health and emotional variables from interpersonal relations common to the whole social body. The combination of emerging themes and rich in significance as well-being at work, satisfaction and involvement with the work, organizational commitment affective, emotions, affections and feelings, point out as a wide field and instigating the search for a broader adaptation of organizational environment to human being. This study aimed to submit to test the empirical relationship between emotional experiences in the organizational context and three dimensions of well-being at work - satisfaction at work, involvement with the organizational work and emotional commitment. The sample was composed of 253 employees of a metallurgical industry of the great Sao Paulo, 213 males and 29 females, most at the age between 26 to 30 years old, distributed between unmarried and married. For data collection it was used a questionnaire for self-fulfillment with four scales that evaluated positive and negative affects, satisfaction at work, involvement with the organizational work and emotional commitment. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS, version 16.0 and various sub-programs that led to calculate descriptive analyses and multiple regression analysis for evaluating the impact of positive and negative affects on well-being at work. The results of this study revealed that the main predictor of the dimensions of well-being at work were the positive affects. Thus, it seems appropriate to say that well-being at work is a psychological state supported particularly by the experience of positive emotions in organizational context. It is suggested that the promotion of health and well-being within organizations are hotbeds of future studies, representing valuable contribution to the fields of knowledge of the psychology of health and organizational psychology, and the consequent strengthening of links between business and workers.(AU) / Em ambiente de elevada pressão, competição e necessidade de criação de diferenciais consistentes que venham contribuir com a longevidade das organizações, nota-se a busca e, às vezes, radicais transformações nos modelos de gestão de negócios e gestão do ser humano no meio empresarial.

Black community attitudes towards the disabled-educational implications

Baloyi, Busisiwe Helen 01 1900 (has links)
This study, BLACK COMMUNITY ATTITUDES TOWARDS THE DISABLED - EDUCATIONAL IMPLICATIONS, set out to investigate the attitude of the black community towards the disabled. Literature was consulted to provide a backdrop against which the empirical surveys could be measured. The study used systematic observation interviews for data collection. Appointments were made to conduct the interviews. The study obtained responses from 70 interviewees from four African cultures namely the Vend~ Pedi, Tsonga and Ndebele, who were divided into seven groups, ten per group, i.e. parents of the disabled, the disabled themselves, siblings of the disabled, parents of non-disabled, youth, old people and professional workers. Findings indicated that disabilities such as cerebral palsy, orthopaedic disabilities, blindness and deafness are undesirable and constitute problems in the life of a disabled, their families in general perspective and the community at large. Disabilities constituted different attitudes and were identified as varying from total rejection to acceptance which are brought about by the components of the TRIPARTITE MODEL I A B C MODEL being cognitive, affective and behavioural. Education of the whole black community concerning the issue of disabled people seems to be the only answer to bring about a change of attitude towards the disabled. Therefore a number of recommendations were included to serve as guidance and counselling so that myth and witchcraft ideologies and negative attitudes can be uprooted. The researcher hopes that the effort that went into this· study will be beneficial in the process of educating the black community about the disabled with the ultimate goal of changing existing negative attitudes towards the disabled into positive attitudes of acceptance and support. / Psychology of Education / D Ed. Logotherapy with Boeschemeyer's value-oriented imagery in multicultural contexts

Meyer-Prentice, Monika 03 1900 (has links)
In this qualitative, interpretive, multi-perspective study a new and promising salutogenic imagery approach developed in Germany, called Value-Oriented Imagery (Wertimagination/WIM®) was researched in regard to its applicability in multicultural (non-European) contexts. A second question researched was whether specific cultural or regional “dialects” would be encountered in the universal inner picture language of persons from other (non-European) cultural backgrounds than the one the approach was developed within. A WIM® study with eighteen participants from African South African, Asian South African and European South African cultural backgrounds was conducted in Johannesburg in 2011 and 2012. The results were analysed and compared with WIM® work experiences from Germany. Subsequently the results of the comparison were discussed in three WIM® expert interviews: with Uwe Boeschemeyer, Stephan Peeck and Andreas Boeschemeyer. The main outcome of this research study is that Value-Oriented Imagery can be seen as a rewarding contribution to South African multicultural (logo)therapy/ counselling contexts. Only minor cultural and regional “dialects” occurred in the universal inner symbols of the RSA study participants, such as the occurrence of more water features, especially waterfalls, and more spontaneous, unintended Healthy Inner Child encounters. The present study suggests that work with Value- Oriented Imagery could make a valuable contribution within any cultural and multicultural (logo)therapy/counselling context. / Psychology / D. Retensiestrategieë as teenvoeter vir vroeë beroepsverlating onder maatskaplike werkers

Adlem, Anri Gretha 30 November 2007 (has links)
The serious shortage of social workers (nationally) caused by their exodus from the profession at an alarming rate and the resultant classification of social work as a "scare skill" served as motivation for this research project into retention strategies to retain social workers for the profession. A qualitative research approach and an explorative, descriptive and contextual research design was employed to conduct semi-structured interviews with 15 purposely selected participants in the geographically defined boundaries of the Northern Free State and Gauteng. Tesch's (in Creswell, 1994) and Guba's models (in Krefting, 1991) aided the processes of data collection and verification, respectively. The research findings uncovered: general and specific reasons for the social workers' exodus, feelings and emotional reactions of social workers subsequent to the early exodus from the profession, and retention proposals to retain social workers. Based on the findings, recommendation directed to practice, education, policy and further research, were made. / Social Work / M.Diac. (Social Work)

Behaviour problems in the classroom : a model for teachers to assist learners with unmet emotional needs

Weeks, Franscina Hester 11 1900 (has links)
Tbis study has as primary objective the development of an appropriate model to assist ' teachers, in South Africa, to be able to understand and assist learners with behaviour problems. The need for the study has its genesis within the current difficulties teachers experience in dealing with behaviour problems in the classroom and the fact that increasing numbers of children are involved. A key facet of the research is its accent on the unmet emotional needs of learners that function as a behavioural determinant. The study is analytical descriptive in nature and as such is based on two fundamental dimensions:- to acquire a sound theoretical understanding of the concepts, causative 'factors and underlying behaviour problems and the most appropriate means to deal therewith and substantiating the insights acquired by means of interviews with teachers, school principals, and other significant role players. An earnest attempt was made to analyse behaviour problems in terms of the various theoretical frameworks presented within contemporary literature. The ecological systems model was found to be the most appropriate for the development of the . referenced model. This stands in sharp contrast to the traditional medical model which in many instances still forms the basis of current theory and practice. Learners with emotional problems experience behaviour problems which serve as barriers to effective learning. Little attention however, has been attributed to putting appropriate systems in place to assist these learners. A key consideration embodied within the new Education Policy (NCS DOCUMENT 1997:1 0) is the issue of meeting the needs of all learners so that they are able to actualise their potential - this includes their emotional needs. The findings of this study need to be seen within the light of meeting this objective. In order to address the unmet emotional needs of learner, teachers must attend to the cognitive mind maps which embody internalized feelings and cognition. A model for understanding the cognitive maps has been developed as part of this study and serves as introduction to the model developed to assist learners wi~h behaviour problems. The study provides a new perspective directed at understanding instead of managing behaviour problems. / Educational Studies / D. Ed. (Special Needs Education)
