Emotions are key components of the human behavior and help understand the consumer behavior as well. In my thesis I present an analysis of the relationship between the feeling of shame and the meanings of consumption. Following Bagozzi, Gürhan-Canli, and Priester (2002) proposal, I had adopted an approach focused on the social basis of emotions. Although people can experience emotions privately, some emotional responses emerge from interpretations triggered by social events. In order to access the feelings experienced by the individuals during consumption I had chosen an interpretative perspective for the research. As a consequence of my epistemological option it was necessary for me to use a coherent methodological approach. The interpretative interactionism had provided a very useful resolution to the problems of analyzing the voluminous data that results in a qualitative research. The use of the interpretive interactionism was very helpful not only during the data analysis but also during the writing process. Each chapter of my thesis present a phase of the method as proposed by Denzin (1989). I could remain fully focused on the phenomenon under study because of the progressive (step-like) character of the analysis. This method made it possible to reach the perspectives of the respondents through their languages, attitudes and thoughts. I had achieved a rich and complete interpretation of the consumption experiences related to the feeling of shame. Three cases broadly represent the data retrieved and present to the reader a close examination of the elements used on the interpretation process. It was clear that the feeling of shame could influence and change the meanings of consumption of goods and services and change the consumer evaluation about it. Such clarification can be useful to marketers and researchers interested in the unpredictability of the consumer behavior.

The recent theories about exercise s intensity regulation have highlighted the role played by psychophysics aspects in controlling exercise s intensity. In this regard, recent evidences have shown that there is variability in human capacity in perceiving interoceptives clues. Thus, subjects more sensitive show higher physiological arousal to physical and/or emotional stress, and sensations with higher intensity. In fact, studies have evidenced that interoceptive feedback modifies behavior in exercise with free load. However, exercise recommendations are based in a constant load standard. Therefore, we aimed to analyze the influence of interoceptive sensibility on psychophysics responses during dynamic exercise performed with constant load. Twenty-four adult males were allocated into two groups accordingly with their interoceptive sensibility: high sensibility (n=11) and low sensibility (13). They underwent to an incremental test (IT) and then randomly to two sections of moderate and severe exercise intensity for 20 minutes. Heart rate (HR), rating of perceived exertion (RPE), affective feelings (AF), alert state (AS), and percentage of associative thoughts were collect during exercise. A two-way ANOVA with repeated measures was used to assess differences between psychophysics responses. There were differences between group in RPE, AF, and AS in moderate intensity. There was no difference in any measure in severe intensity. We conclude that subjects with high interoceptive sensibility feel dynamic moderate exercise more intense than the subjecs with low interoceptive sensibility / INTRODU??O: O complexo comportamento humano de realizar exerc?cio f?sico envolve processamento cognitivo, f?sico e emocional.

Beteendemönster och ett narrativs betydelse i brädspel / Behavioral Patterns and a Narrative's Importance in a Table-Top Game

Liedberg, Felix January 2017 (has links)
The theme for this paper is table-top games, therefore the study will begin with a history review of table-top games. Following will be a general rundown of multiple narrative techniques. This is for giving a context for the rest of the work. The research question asked for this paper is: How is a person’s behavior affected by their emotional connections to a narrative?  This question was answered with the help of a table-top game. The game had two variants, one with a narrative and one without. This was for finding differences between the two. Twenty persons tested the two artefacts. After the testing, qualitative interviews took place. These were used to answer the question. There was no doubt that the behavior of the testers differentiated between the two variants. The narrative testers felt a stronger emotional connection to the characters in the game. If the study would have continued, a larger test group with a greater diversity would have been preferred.

Engagerad i barns bästa, nu och framöver : Reflektioner kring ett hållbart arbets- och förhållningssätt i förskolan / Putting children first, today and tomorrow : reflections on creating a sustainable work environment and processes at preschool

Blomquist, Cecilia, Nöthe Frisk, Carina January 2017 (has links)
The starting point for this essay is two self-perceived dilemma situations in preschools where children have end up in conflicts. These two dilemmas have given us the understanding that children can be treated in completely different ways by preschool teachers when they on one hand are excluded and ignored and on the other hand are confirmed and heard. The aim of this essay is to open a dialogue among educators about a sustainable work approach. It is a treatment we believe works long-term and provides room for strong feelings like love and aggression. Sustainable development is widely discussed in preschools in ecological and economic terms, but there is no awareness about how it addresses the social aspects of children’s development. We want to focus on the social aspects in our essay. In this essay, we will investigate the following questions: What skills do educators need in today's preschool? What meaning do feelings such as love and aggression play in preschool? How can a socially-focused sustainable approach be created and developed in the preschool? We start from a sociocultural perspective looking at people as individuals influenced by society and culture. In order to approach our sub-questions, we take a knowledge perspective where we use Sheridan, Sandberg & Williams's research on the preschool teacher`s competence, an emotional perspective where we use Winnicott, van Manen and Montessori to seek out the emotional life and an educational perspective in which the authors and lecturers Svedberg and Persson lead us towards a sustainable work approach. Our essay shows that the whole child as well as her/his feelings and interests seem to have been removed from focus in the preschool. Instead, the new revised curriculum requires a subject-oriented approach that makes it difficult for preschool teachers to include continuous reflection work focusing on social sustainability. We, as prospective preschool teachers, have a great responsibility to take a ‘whole child’ view by allowing continuous reflection focusing on sustainable work and processes. Only then can every child be his or her best self.

Patriarchy and Masculinity in Doris Lessing's The Fifth Child and in Ben in the World

Sundberg, Björn January 2011 (has links)
The English novelist, Doris Lessing elucidates the rigidity of a society, which is based upon patriarchy, in her novels, The Fifth Child and Ben in the World. This essay illustrates the causes and the effects of a patriarchal system in the light of feminist ideology supported by Freud’s theories about the acquisition of gender roles. The analysis in this essay of patriarchy and masculinity shows that the novels’ societies as a whole, as well as their criminal subcultures are upheld by people who hold prejudice against others, who do not fit in society’s normal structures, believe in authoritarian social systems and prefer rational solutions to decisions for reasons of conscience. Lessing depicts the complexity of the social relations between characters of different social classes and their relations to society’s institutions. Her unprejudiced penetration into the minds of society’s marginalized people and into the minds of those who represent the oppressive established society illuminates different sides of patriarchy. Lessing gives us to understand that it is extremely difficult, from a moral point of view, to distinguish the established society from its criminal subcultures or society’s oppressors from its victims. Society’s accepted gender roles in the patriarchal system are often ironically described in these novels, certainly with the aim of making us question normative manners, habits and attitudes.

BeAKKta : ett kommunikationshjälpmedel som möter behoven av djupare kommunikation hos personer med autism / BeAACta : a communication tool that meets the deeper communication needs of adults with ASD

Lindqvist, Monika Adamson January 2011 (has links)
A vulnerable group in society is people with ASD (autism spectrum disorders) or autism. This group seems to increase, mainly due to genetic factors but also environmental problems. Medical research has accelerated in the U.S. and Europe. The biggest problem for people with disabilities is the inability to communicate, both verbally and socially. Parallel communication is growing strongly, a technique that can help these people much, if only there were an adaptation to the needs. There are already technical communication aids developed for people with autism. But they do not seem to fit the target group's communication needs well enough. These aids are designed to handle a superficial communication and people with autism do not understand this type of communication at all. People with ASD would rather appreciate the deeper relationships that can support them on important issues, such as to clarify the context for them are hard to understand. E.g. "inside" and "beyond" could tell that there are a number of houses behind them closer to the houses. They need a different type of support and this support must be provided by close caregivers. Closely support by caregivers seems to be essential for successful development. In other words, they do not have the extensive list of contacts that are in their communication tool today. In my theses, I look primarily at the core needs behind the communication of people with autism. But I also present a design proposal in the form of some sketches on the basis of these needs. The reason for focusing on the analysis is that the majority of existing technical communication aids never seems to have questioned the basis for the decisions shaping the design, i.e. the real needs of the people with ASD. Too often wrong design decisions seem to be made mainly due to an incorrect analysis. Several functions ought to coincide in a single tool that can support the people with ASD to talk, think clearer thoughts, to reflect, formulate an opinion and dream. I would like them to reach deeper thoughts than was possible so far. The features are not new but the combination is. I count to seven features which I consider to be crucial for my result: “Emphasized transfer”, “transparency”, “structure à la Talking Mats”, “imaging”, “digital camera”, “the real meeting”, and “caregivers as important role models”. The communicators should be geographically close to each other and carry one’s own portable technical communication aids, their “BeAKKta”, the name of this design proposal. My result identifies needs of disabled people in their communication, and gives suggestions on how to respond to those needs by presenting different sketches from an analysis. The sketches show up a new design for this communication tool, both in terms of form and function. Lovisa, my daughter and her communication problem is the origin of the trials and she is also the one who gave me both insights and inspiration. / Phone number: 46709981048

Exploring and defining iyashikei in terms of game design

Neerings, Fleur, Keller, Samantha January 2021 (has links)
At one point or another we have all felt overwhelmed or stressed. It is part of human nature and can at times be beneficial as it can boost our performance and make us more alert. However when it becomes a part of daily life to worry about everything, it turns into a hindrance. This is where Iyashikei, the japanese word referring to the feeling of calm and relaxed, comes into play. We explore what makes a medium “Iyashikei” and define a design methodology based on those findings. The design methodology consists of three parts in which feelings and Iyashikei have been the main focus when deciding what to include. This design methodology is then evaluated by using it to design a game. The game is a small proof of concept design and can be expanded upon further to increase its calming effect. However we believe that it is sufficient as proof of concept.

Sjuksköterskans omvårdnad av självmordsnära patienter : en litteraturstudie / Nursing care of suicidal patients : a literature review

Sundström, Kristin January 2017 (has links)
Background: Suicide is widely represented all over the world and affects many millions of people directly or indirectly. Psychiatric disease states and other social and biological conditions lie as a basis when a person takes one’s life. Nursing in suicide problems is central and nurses' attitude and the care relationship between nurse and patient is important in nursing suicidal thinking patients. Aim: The purpose of the study was to describe nursing care that may be significant as well as difficulties that may exist from nurses in psychiatric care and suicidal patients. Method: Literature review with 12 articles using qualitative, quantitative and mixed methodology. Data was analyzed by Thomas and Hardens thematic synthesis. Results: The result formed two main themes; "Prerequisites for proper care for suicidal patients" and "Nursing feelings – A challenge in nursing of suicide patients". Subtopics for the respective main themes describes "Observation and Security", "Assessment", "Teamwork", "Communication", "Knowledge and Support" and "Time" and for the main theme two "Uncertainty", "Nurse’s approach: Empathy - Empathy" and "Compassion and nurse’s initiation of hope for the patient". Discussions: The result is discussed based on Joyce Travelbee's theoretical theory and highlighting the unique human and interpersonal relationship, the significance of the hope for the suffering person, and how we understand the experiences of others through time and communication.
