Does Size Matter? : A quantitative study about how different-sized models in online shopping affect consumer loyalty among female customers in Sweden.

Kedzior, Joanna, Tiberg, Marie January 2022 (has links)
This thesis aims to examine how the usage of different-sized models can improve consumer loyalty to a brand of female customers in Sweden. Previous research has examined how using non-skinny models appeals to female customers and what feelings are evoked, but there is little research on how this approach can increase consumer loyalty as a whole. The authors of this thesis hypothesize that brands using different-sized models will lead to female customers feeling higher levels of the concepts of Awareness and Safety concerning the brand. In turn, the authors hypothesize that a brand achieving high levels of Awareness and Safety within the context of using different-sized models will improve consumer loyalty toward their female customers in Sweden. To examine whether different-sized models have an impact on consumer loyalty, a deductive approach has been used where this thesis relies on existing theories to answer the research question. Data was collected through a survey consisting of multi-choice questions with closed answers in order to conduct a quantitative analysis of the data. The questions were operalized, and the internal validity of each concept was tested through Cronbach’s Alpha to ensure that the questions measured what they were supposed to measure. The data was analyzed through Spearman’s Rank Correlation test, where the dependence between the concepts was measured. In conclusion, the authors found that usage of different-sized models had a positive correlation with consumer loyalty through both aspects of Awareness and Safety. Based on the results and the collected literature, the authors believe that usage of different-sized models in a company’s online business activities can help build a stronger relationship with their customers.

Nyexaminerade sjuksköterskors upplevelse av att ställas inför akuta vårdsituationer : En litteraturöversikt / Newly graduated nurses experience of being faced with acute care situations : a literature review

Landström, Elin, Eggen, Maja January 2023 (has links)
Background Studies show that newly graduated nurses who come out to workforce describes it as a“reality shock” because it can be stressful, and the newly graduated nurses is not preparedfor that. Acute care situations are something that a RN face and is expected to manage. Studies also shows that there are difficulties for newly graduated nurses entering the workforce, therefore this bachelor ́s thesis was accomplished. Aim The aim was to describe newly graduated nurses’ experiences of managing acute care situations. Method This bachelor ́s thesis has been accomplished as a structured literature study with elements of the methodology used in systematic reviews. The databases CINAHL and PubMed have been used and eleven articles was found. An integrated analysis was used to find the result. Results The results resulted in three categories: emotional reactions, different aspects of competence and organizational impact. Within each category, two subcategories were formulated. The subcategories are self-doubt, management of serious illness and death, theoretical competence, preparedness of action, lack of support and lack of time. Conclusions The results show that newly graduated nurses experience the first period as challenging. Challenges that were experienced were a lack of resources such as time and support from other colleagues. Insufficient experience was something that hindered readiness for action in acute care situations. A possible solution to this could be an introductory program with mentoring for the newly graduated nurses.

Mammors behov av stöd under amningsperioden : Betydelsen att som specialistsjuksköterska på BVC ha förståelse för det emotionella, informativa och sociala stödet mammor efterfrågar / Mothers' need for support during the breastfeeding period : The specialist nurse’s understanding of the emotional, informative and social support that mothers request at BVC

Gregoriusson, Hannah, Lyrstrand, Mimmi January 2022 (has links)
Background: WHO and UNICEF advocate breastfeeding immediately after childbirth and recommend that babies continue to be breastfed exclusively for the first 6 months after childbirth. Previous research shows that mothers cease breastfeeding sooner, and in many cases it is associated with a lack of support from family and the surrounding environment. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify and synthesize how mothers experience the breastfeeding support provided by specialist nurses at pediatric clinics. Method: A qualitative metasynthesis has been completed. Searching of articles was performedby the databases Cinahl and PubMed. The final literature search yielded 15 qualitative articles and were analyzed according to Noblit and Hare’s seven steps. Result: From the result, two main themes emerged: Emotional, informative and practical support and Social support. Within the first main theme, four sub themes emerged; Consistent advice creates a sense of safety which highlights the importance of the specialist nurse providing emotional support and clear and correct information about breastfeeding to the mothers. Adequate knowledge about breastfeeding increases self-confidence shows that when the mothers received essential breastfeeding knowledge by the specialist nurse the breastfeeding could be maintained to a greater extent. The feeling of being competent decreases feelings of guilt in mothers when essential knowledge is provided. Emotional support increases mothers’ trust to their bodies’ capabilities comprised mothers' need for realistic and emotional breastfeeding support. The second main theme consists of three sub-themes. The presence of a partner and family is significant for the ability to breastfeed and Participating in other forums is of significance t to feeling motivated to continue breastfeeding highlights the importance of social but also digital networks. Continuity from the specialist nurse gives a sense of calm and ease, and shows the significance of physical breastfeeding support from the specialist nurse. Conclusion: Mothers that breastfeed their babies are in great need of support early on in the breastfeeding process. Without the support it is harder for mothers to maintain breastfeeding. It is evident that different types of support are significant for mothers to be able to maintain breastfeeding. The health benefits of breastfeeding are great. Previous research shows that breastfeeding can decrease risk of infections and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, as well as mothers who breastfeed have a lower risk of breast cancer.

New Beginnings : Triggering Encounters in Public Place to Encourage a Sense of Community

Lindström, Anna January 2023 (has links)
To increase social sustainability in cities and communities, interactions between community members is a key factor. This has engaged a research project on social sustainability, connected to an emerging urban district in Sweden. This research was done in collaboration with local stakeholders being part of this research project. Qualitative methods were used, including semi-structured interviews, and thematic analysis. Design iterations has lead to a final design proposal for a public installation and technologically enhanced interaction, containing significant characteristics. The first characteristic is playful and exciting tiny-scale events happening in the everyday life that makes people in the same urban area to be aware of each other, giving opportunities for new relationships as well as enhancing their social and emotional connection to a place, what I call microevents. A second characteristic found is the loosely structured community, which entailed the focus on people of a community that has primarily the place in common, rather than a specific interest. Finally I identified the characteristic of villagescape that strives towards the village’s community in an urban environment. This concept contains a number of attributes, for example the acknowledgment of all people belonging to a specific urban place, the promotion of a welcoming, trustful and genuine feeling, and to keep thresholds low for meetings to occur between people.

Andersson, Andreas January 2023 (has links)
This study examines what it means to be a Russian LGBTQ emigrant in light of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The study follows a phenomenological research approach that differs from the commonly used scientific approach that strives for objective knowledge. Through a qualitative study consisting of 5 participants who identify themselves as Russian LGBTQ emigrants, this research examines findings via affect theory, queer theory, and theories of social and cultural trauma to ask what it means to be a Russian LGBTQ emigrant, how the LGBTQ emigrant is constructed, and how the construct of being a Russian LGBTQ emigrant affects the subject. The study shows how the meaning of being a Russian LGBTQ emigrant is constructed through the effects of affect and how these effects create a collective, social, and cultural trauma that manifests in their everyday lived experiences while shaping their prospects for the future. / <p>2023-09-14</p>

Lost my home : React.

Erkstam, Filippa January 2024 (has links)
What happens in man when the society you live in disappear? Howis the individual affected when large external forces changes the life conditions? In northern Sweden, the societies Kiruna and Malmberget move due to the mining. The project started in Malmberget but soon got a wider perspective. Societies will continue to disappear which is already seen in Ukraine and parts of the world where climate change is a fact. Lost my home is an exploration in how emoticons and graphic design can be a help for people to communicate. Emoticons is built on feelings and is a language we all understand no matter which countries we are from. The project is the start of exploring how emoticons can be its own language and help us to move on.

Jonsson, Emma January 2017 (has links)
The use of social media is constantly increasing, which brings both advantages and disadvantages. Social media is a way for people to communicate and interact with other people and companies. This essay, which is a thesis at the Faculty of Technology and Society at Malmö University, explores the different emotions people feel when they visit the various social media platforms Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram. The purpose of this paper is to get an understanding of how different social networking sites are experienced for people between 20- 30 years and what they feel when they visit these websites or apps. The survey was done with a qualitative method with quantitative elements, such as a log book and group interviews. The results show that the respondents use social media more than they thought and they always feel different emotions while using it. The feelings that comes with social media use is nothing that the respondents have thought about before. All respondents have become aware of how social media actually affect them. The survey suggests that the various emotions that comes with social media usage are different between men and women. Women seem to reflect more than men about how they feel and how they are influenced by social media.

Sleep problems and school competence: Transactional relations across middle childhood and the effects on children's adjustment

Foley, Joan E. January 2012 (has links)
Despite evidence suggesting considerable overlap between the neurobiology underlying sleep regulation and the neurobehavioral systems regulating attention control and emotional arousal, sleep remains an understudied domain in the quest to improve children's regulation of behavior, emotions, and cognition in support of school competence during middle childhood. Using a large, normative sample (n = 1,057) from the National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development's Study of Early Childcare and Youth (NICHD-SECCYD), I tested a conceptual model of sleep, school competence, and children's adjustment to address important gaps in our understanding of the direction of effects and interrelations among sleep problems, attention problems, and academic and social competence across middle childhood. I examined the domains for their combined effects and pathways of influence on children's adjustment (e.g., depressive symptoms and feelings about school) at the end of middle childhood--a period just prior to the impending biological and contextual changes associated with adolescence. Using structural equation modeling and repeated measurement at 54 months-of-age, Grade 1, Grade 3, and Grade 5, findings indicated that maternal-reported sleep problems in preschool directly predicted teacher-reported attention problems when children were in third and fifth grade. Findings lend support for models of sleep and neural development that posit adverse early effects of sleep problems on prefrontal cortex (PFC) maturation that aids in the development of attention control. Maternal-reported sleep problems did not predict standardized assessments of reading and math at any time across the assessment period. In contrast, sleep problems predicted teacher reports of children's ability to effectively cooperate and execute positive response strategies with peers. Effective language and cognitive skills are important and necessary for positive peer interactions and problem solving, and sleep problems have been associated with slower growth in language development and memory processes. Both maternal-reported sleep problems and teacher-reported peer relations uniquely predicted children's self-reported depressive symptoms, perceived competence, and motivation and social support in school at the end of middle childhood. Findings lend support for an emotion information processing model of sleep and competency-based models of depression. Academic achievement and attention problems and attention problems and peer relations were reciprocally related at all assessment periods. In support of the academic underachievement hypothesis, academic achievement consistently exerted stronger effects on attention problems compared to inverse relations. Attention problems and academic achievement had no direct effects on children's depressive symptoms or motivation for school, but exerted indirect effects through their effects on peer relations. Despite expected relations, no domain in the present study predicted children's sleep problems. Even though results are somewhat surprising given theoretical perspectives and limited empirical work investigating associations between sleep problems, attention problems, and academic and social competence, this study was novel in its design for simultaneously evaluating effects of these domains together across time. Findings from the present study may fail to align with prior research because multiple domains were allowed to compete with one another in a single model, and shared rater variance as well as prior and concurrent levels of each domain were controlled across the study period. Alternatively, variables not measured in the present study but associated with children's sleep problems, such as child temperament or parenting practices, may be stronger predictors of children's sleep. In sum, results point to the unique associations between children's sleep problems, attention problems, and academic and social competence across middle childhood, and the importance of considering their combined influence on children's feelings of adjustment as they enter the challenging period of adolescence. / Educational Psychology

Exploring HIV/AIDS stigma in the workplace : voice of the stigmatised

Jugdeo, Nesheen (Ramroop) 07 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this research was to explore HIV/AIDS stigma in the workplace, with a special focus on the stigmatised. The sample consisted of 10 HIV/AIDS positive employees. A qualitative interview schedule was designed. The interview guide was used to facilitate one-on-one interviews with each participant. An analysis of the data revealed that the majority of the participants were shunned by family, friends and partners. Others were too ashamed or afraid to reveal their positive status. The majority of the participants did not feel comfortable revealing their positive status to their line managers and to their co-workers. All participants felt that others viewed people living with HIV/AIDS as dirty and unclean and many had been exposed to stigmatising behaviours towards them due to their HIV/AIDS positive status. As a coping mechanism, most participants noted that they would walk away if stigmatised against. Recommendations were made to address HIV/AIDS stigma in the workplace. / Industrial & Organisational Psychology / M. A. (Industrial and Organisation Psychology)
