Corps, identité et féminité chez Nelly Arcan et Marie-Sissi Labrèche

Dans une société qui assiste à la confusion des territoires du privé et du public, le culte du corps et la valorisation de normes esthétiques féminines semblent littéralement envahir l’espace narratif et magnifier le dualisme entre l’être et le paraître. Il va sans dire que cette nouvelle façon de penser et de concevoir le corps, notamment le corps féminin, a une incidence sur l’écriture des femmes contemporaines. Intimement lié à la construction identitaire du sujet, le corps incarne dans les oeuvres littéraires une nouvelle « féminité » dont le présent mémoire vise à explorer les paramètres littéraires, psychanalytiques et sociologiques. C’est dans le contexte d’une corporalité reconfigurée que l’inscription de la triade corps/identité/féminité dans les textes littéraires de Nelly Arcan et de Marie-Sissi Labrèche sera étudiée par l’analyse d’oeuvres significatives publiées au début de ce troisième millénaire : Putain et À ciel ouvert, d’une part, Borderline et La Brèche, d’autre part. Le corps est au coeur de la quête identitaire des protagonistes présentées dans ces récits. Mais ce corps s’érigeant souvent en obstacle devient le lieu d’une difficile image de soi et contribue à renforcer l’agentivité négative, soit cette incapacité du sujet à tracer son avenir de manière positive, contre laquelle se battent les personnages féminins tout au long de la narration. C’est à ce propos que la position ambivalente des deux auteures est représentative des questions de filiation qui marquent la littérature contemporaine. / In a society in which boundaries between the private and the public are confused, body worship and the prizing of women’s beauty standards seem to pervade fiction and magnify the dualism between being and appearing. The new way of thinking about and conceiving the body, the female body in particular, has certainly had an effect on contemporary women’s writing. Inasmuch as the body is entwined with the formation of the protagonist’s identity, it embodies a new femininity in literary works, of which this master’s thesis strives to explore the literary, psychoanalytical and sociological parameters. In the context of a remapped corporality, this thesis studies the body, identity and femininity in four contemporary novels: Putain and À ciel ouvert by Nelly Arcan, and Borderline and La Brèche by Marie-Sissi Labrèche. Although the body is at the heart of the protagonists’ search for identity, it also often constitutes a hurdle for them, resulting in a bad self-image and reinforcing the protagonists’ negative agency against which all the female characters are struggling. The authors’ ambivalent positions on this matter are representative of the filiation issues characterizing contemporary fiction.

Para dar conta das especificidades do problema/objeto investigado, trabalhei com o conceito de midiatização e articulei perspectivas teóricas para a compreensão do produto (campo de efeitos de sentido, contrato de leitura, modos de endereçamento, linguagem de revista) e da recepção (recepção, mediações, consumo, identidade feminina). Acerca das estratégias metodológicas, na investigação do produto, trabalhei na análise de um corpus composto por três editoriais de moda da revista Elle, examinando as propostas de feminilidade ali constituídas na relação com a moda. No âmbito da recepção, realizei pesquisa sistemática com quatro leitoras da revista Elle e, desde uma per / Having the general objective of investigating the phenomenon of mediatization in fashion considering, more specifically, the reception of the fashion editorials of the magazine Elle, understanding of the construction of a model of a fashionable woman in this product is sought as well as the uses made of this model, the meanings taken and appropriations made by the magazines readers, mediated by the female identity. To deal with the specifics of the problem/object being studied, the concept of mediatization is examined and various theoretical aspects to the comprehension of the product are considered (meaning effects field, reading contract, address modes, magazine language) as well as some for reception (reception, mediation, consumption, female identity). It's goal was to realize how the female identity was built in it's original family and how they live their woman function in their present family. The specific goals were: to think about principIes in the construction of the female identity, how women notice themselves. The interest by this text came because of mothers'complaint about their lives. They must work to survive and after that they need to do a lot of housework at home. Four mothers with children between 5 and 10 years old participated in this research. They were alphabetized and hired. They were from 22 and 42 years old. The method used was based in the qualitative research. Under the focus of social constructionism those assumptions were derived from conversational exchan,ges in which meanings are socially constructed and language is understood in its active character is considered a social practice, constituent of the reality. To achieve the objective instruments were used such as: History Life, Reflection Group, Focal Group. It is showed as results work overload, insufficient wages to keep family and answer the unexpected even:ts of life. They work in their jobs for 46 hours per week and then for doing housework they spend, on average, 20 hours per week. These data are in accordance with Brazilian demographic surveys. It was also showed by the survey the lack of dialogue with their original family about sex education. They know that they are doing the same with their children / A pesquisa foi realizada em uma ONG localizada em uma cidade no centro-oeste do Estado de São Paulo. Teve como objetivo compreender como foi construída a identidade feminina na família de origem por um grupo de mulheres e como elas vivenciam seu papel de mulher na família atual. Os objetivos específicos foram: refletir sobre os valores envolvidos na construção da identidade feminina; como as mulheres percebem a si mesmas. O interesse pelo tema surgiu a partir das queixas de cansaço e de tensão enunciados por mães que iam buscar seus filhos na ONG, ap6s o trabalho no espaço publico. Além das horas dedicadas ao trabalho remunerado iam, em seguida, para suas casas executar os afazeres domésticos. Participaram da pesquisa quatro mães com filhos entre 5 a 10 anos de idade, alfabetizadas, assalariadas. A idade delas ficou num intervalo entre 22 a 42 anos. O método utilizado baseou-se na pesquisa qualitativa. A base epistemológica foi o construcionismo social com seus pressupostos derivados das trocas conversacionais em que os significados são construídos socialmente e a linguagem e entendida em seu carácter ativo sendo considerada uma pratica social, constituinte da realidade. Para atingir o objetivo foram usados instrumentos: entrevistas individuais e grupais. Com estes instrumentos foram construídas as atividades grupais: História de Vida, Grupo Reflexivo e Grupo Focal. Apontam-se como resultados do cansaço a sobrecarga de trabalho, os salários insuficientes para manterem a família e atenderem os acontecimentos inesperados da vida. Trabalham em seus empregos durante 46 horas semanais, em media. Para os afazeres domésticos empregam 20 horas semanais, em media. Tais dados estão em conformidade com os levantamentos demográficos brasileiros. Constatou-se que seus parceiros dedicam momentos aleatórios para os afazeres domésticos. Elas aprenderam, em suas famílias de origem, as habilidades de donas de casa e o valor que se deve dar ao trabalho remunerado. Outro resultado apontado pela pesquisa consiste na falta de dialogo com sua família de origem sobre as questões de educação da sexualidade. When juxtaposing Pride and Prejudice and Bridget Jones’s Diary in the light of feminism it is evident that both books provide clear examples of the prevailing situation of women in each time and place. The aspects of the study, which are especially important today, show both the development and some degree of stagnation of women’s rights and identities.

Dans cette étude, on s’est concentré sur trois oeuvres de Marguerite Andersen, qui s'écrivent autour d’un thème : le mélange de la réalité et de la fiction. Donc, le but de cette thèse repose sur une étude de l'écriture autofictionnelle, qui se rattache étroitement à la quête identitaire du personnage. Et tout cela renvoie bien à la motivation de l’écriture de l’auteure : d’un côté, elle partage ses témoignages personnels avec celui qui vit aussi dans un contexte multiculturel, de telle manière que son écriture participe d’une pédagogie. De l’autre, elle parle au nom d’une femme écrivaine, de façon à contribuer à la lutte de la femme pour un avenir plus lumineux dans la société. Ainsi, la thèse comporte une première partie consacrée à la construction de l’identité entre le personnage, la narratrice et l’auteure, la deuxième analyse l’écriture du temps et de l’espace, et la troisième est composée de trois chapitres, portant respectivement sur l’hétérogénéité narrative dans les trois oeuvres. A travers des analyses de la modalité narrative exploitée par l’auteure dans chaque oeuvre, dans la conclusion, on dégage dans les trois oeuvres la cohérence, qui donne à réfléchir sur des thèmes constants et le mécanisme exploré par l’auteure dans d’autres oeuvres, et qui renvoie à la contribution de l’écriture andersenienne à l’écriture au féminin, à la littérature francophone. / In this work, we focused on three works of Marguerite Andersen, which are written around a theme : the mixture of reality and fiction. Therefore, the aim of this thesis is based on a study of autofictional which is closely related to the investigation of character identity. All of these exactly refer to the author's motivation : on the one hand, by sharing her personal stories with the person who also lives in a multicultural context, in such a way that her writing is considered a pedagogy. On the other hand, as a female writer, she could be more able to understand women's struggle and help them to rebuild a brighter future in society more objectively. Thus, the first part of this thesis is devoted to construct a consistent identity among the character, the narrator, the author; the second part analyzes the writing in terms of time and space; and the third is composed of three chapters, which elaborate narrative heterogeneity among three works respectively. Based on the analysis of narrative modality exploited by the author in each work, in the conclusion part, we draw from three works a common which leads to a reflection about constant theme and the writing skills explored by the author in other works£»meanwhile, it highlights the contribution of andersenienne in regards to women's writing and Francophone literature.

Through relational and historical analysis of gender, the object of this study is to detect to what extent these women practices break the current patriarchal system and to what extent they reproduce it. Working through oral history methodology, this research tries to identify the circumstances and power mechanisms that they utilize to fight racial, class, age and gender social discrimination. In a specific cultural, historical context, this study raises some points to ponder in order to understand on the one hand, the effective decision power that they exert and identify space and social status that they have conquered throughout time and, on the other hand, the religious discourse power upon the legitimation of gender power subordination relations. / A presente pesquisa propõe analisar as práticas de mulheres que buscam transformar suas condições sociais e conquistar novos status no interior das convenções sociais. Por intermédio da análise relacional e histórica da categoria gênero, a pesquisa pretende detectar até que ponto as práticas das mulheres rompem com o sistema patriarcal vigente e até que ponto o reproduzem. Por meio da metodologia da história oral, a pesquisa busca identificar as circunstâncias e os mecanismos de poder que elas utilizam para resistirem às discriminações sociais de raça, classe, idade e gênero. Num contexto históricocultural preciso, o estudo levanta alguns pontos de reflexão a fim de compreender por um lado, o efetivo poder de decisão que elas exercem e identificar os novos espaços e status sociais que conquistaram ao longo do tempo e, por outro lado, a força do discurso religioso sobre a legitimação das relações de poder-subordinação de gênero.

Meninas (mal) comportadas : posturas e estranhamentos em uma escola pública de periferia

Esta dissertação tem como objetivo apresentar e problematizar posturas e posicionamentos de um grupo de alunas de uma turma de quinta série de uma escola pública da periferia de Porto Alegre. Com idades entre onze e treze anos, essas alunas protagonizavam comportamentos e expressavam opiniões que, por vezes, surpreendiam seus professores, uma vez que eram considerados por eles como distantes das atitudes naturalmente relacionadas a uma infância feminina. Neste estudo, sob o aporte dos Estudos Culturais em Educação e dos Estudos de Gênero, em uma abordagem pós-estruturalista, procuro entender melhor os discursos e narrativas que atravessam as posturas desse grupo de alunas, quais as significações atribuídas por essas alunas a tais posturas e também de que forma estas eram significadas naquele ambiente escolar. Para tanto, utilizo-me do conceito de representação, entendido como um processo cultural que inclui as práticas de significação e os sistemas simbólicos através dos quais os significados são produzidos. Quanto à metodologia de pesquisa, empreguei estratégias de investigação de cunho etnográfico. A partir da constituição das unidades analíticas, apresento os posicionamentos e as posturas das alunas reunidos em cinco eixos temáticos: marcas identitárias, posturas escolares, vivências do cotidiano, sexualidade e violência. Penso que esta pesquisa não trata somente de meninas malcomportadas ou bem-comportadas, mas sim de modos diversificados de ser menina na contemporaneidade. / This dissertation aims at both presenting and problematizing postures and behaviors shown by girls attending the fifth grade in a public school located in Porto Alegre outskirts. Aged 11-13 years old, those students were protagonists of behaviors and expressed opinions that sometimes surprised their teachers, as they were regarded by them as distant from attitudes that have naturally been associated to the female childhood. In this study, grounded on Cultural Studies in Education and Gender Studies, in a post-structuralist approach, I have attempted to understand discourses and narratives that have crossed the postures shown by that group of students, which significations have been attributed to such postures by those girls, and how these postures have been signified in the school environment. In order to do so, I have used the concept of representation, here understood as a cultural process that includes signification practices and symbolic systems through which meanings are produced. As to the methodology, I have employed ethnographic investigation strategies. From the constitution of analytic units, I have presented the students' postures divided into five theme axes: identity marks, school postures, daily experiences, sexuality, and violence. I think that this research has not studied either mischievous or well-behaved girls, but diversified ways of being a girl in contemporaneity.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This research discusses which senses about the identity of the gaucha women are mobilized by RBS TV, from the special programs "Bah! A very gaucho program", Bah! I Am from the South" and "Bah! A very special fandango", shown on September 20th 2013 and 2014 and on September 19th 2015, respectively. The main objective is to analyze the ways in which the senses about the gaucha women are produced, which contribute to the construction and representation of this identity. The specific objectives are: to verify the production conditions that contribute to build this identity in the programs; recognize the elements used by RBS TV to represent the female characters of the program; identify the discourses used by RBS TV in Bah! for the representation of the gaucho identity, particularly the identity of the woman; and characterize the identity processes that update the representation of contemporary gaucho from the identity of the woman. For this purpose, by developing an own methodological model, from the perspective of the cultural studies, we conducted a cultural media analysis to observe our object through three main instances: television making, textual products and the context in which it appears. From the research we infer that the three main senses: concealment, objectification and masculinization form a stereotypical female identity. Also, we realize that the special programs follow the intention of perpetuating a hegemonic masculine identity transmitting a false idea of female empowerment, seeking to generate audience and recognition. / A presente pesquisa problematiza quais os sentidos sobre a identidade da mulher gaúcha são mobilizados pela RBS TV, a partir dos especiais Bah! Um programa muito gaúcho , Bah! Eu Sou do Sul e Bah! Um fandango muito especial , exibidos em 20 de setembro de 2013 e 2014 e 19 de setembro de 2015, respectivamente. O objetivo central é o de analisar os modos como são produzidos os sentidos sobre a mulher gaúcha, que contribuem para a construção e representação desta identidade. Como objetivos específicos temos: verificar as condições de produção que contribuem para a configuração desta identidade nos programas; reconhecer os elementos utilizados pela RBS TV para representar as personagens femininas do programa; identificar os discursos utilizados pela RBS TV, em Bah! para a representação da identidade gaúcha, em especial da identidade da mulher; e caracterizar os processos identitários que atualizam a representação do gaúcho contemporâneo a partir da identidade da mulher. Para isso, através da elaboração de um modelo metodológico próprio, com base na perspectiva dos estudos culturais, realizamos uma análise cultural-midiática para observar nosso objeto através de três grandes instâncias: o fazer televisivo, os produtos textuais e o contexto em que está inserido. Da pesquisa inferimos que os três principais sentidos: ocultamento, objetificação e masculinização formam uma identidade feminina estereotipada. Além disso, percebemos que os especiais atuam na intenção de perpetuar uma identidade hegemônica e masculina transmitindo uma falsa ideia de empoderamento feminino, na busca por gerar audiência e reconhecimento.
