Die Beiträge untersuchen den Einsatz von Musik in zeitgenössischen Fernsehserien. / A collection of articles dealing with music in contemporary TV shows.

Ziel dieser Arbeit ist die Darlegung des Bildes der Bibliotheken und der Bibliothekarinnen und Bibliothekare im deutschen Fernsehen. Im theoretischen Teil wird das Themenfeld Bibliothek und Bibliothekarin/Bibliothekar kursorisch umrissen, sowie der Forschungsstand kurz dargelegt. Im empirischen Teil folgt eine Inhaltsanalyse von Fernsehsendungen der Gegenwart, die Sendungen aus den Jahren 2015 und 2016 betrachtet. Die ausgehende Forschungsfrage, wie Bibliotheken, Bibliothekarinnen und Bibliothekare in Fernsehsendungen der Gegenwart dargestellt werden, wird anhand der Methode der standardisierten Inhaltsanalyse untersucht. Dabei werden neben quantitativen analytischen Methoden auch Verfahren der qualitativen Analyse eingesetzt. Die Ergebnisse geben ein durchaus differenziertes Bild je nach fiktionalen Genres und nicht-fiktionalen Formaten. Dabei ist in Gesamtbewertung das Bild von Bibliotheken neutral bis eher positiv und das Bild der Bibliothekarinnen und Bibliothekare überwiegend positiv in den zugrundeliegenden Sendungen. / The aim of this work is to unfold the image of libraries and librarians on German television. In the theoretical part, the topics library and librarian are outlined cursory, as well as a brief description of the current state of research. In the empirical part, a content analysis of television broadcasts follows, which looks at broadcasts from the years 2015 and 2016. The outgoing research question of how libraries and librarians are portrayed in contemporary television broadcasts will be examined using the method of standardized content analysis. In addition to quantitative analytical methods, methods of qualitative analysis are also used. The results show a quite differentiated picture of libraries and librarians according to fictional genres and non-fictional formats. Overall, the picture of libraries is neutral to rather positive, and the image of the librarians is predominantly positive in the underlying broadcasts.

Das Projekt „ValidAX - Validierung der Frameworks AMOPA und XTRIEVAL“ untersucht die Möglichkeiten die an der Professur Medieninformatik der TU Chemnitz erstellten Softwareframeworks AMOPA (Automated Moving Picture Annotator) und Xtrieval (Extensible Information Retrieval Framework) in Richtung einer wirtschaftlichen Verwertbarkeit weiterzuentwickeln und in Arbeitsprozesse praktisch einzubinden. AMOPA ist in der Lage, beliebige audiovisuelle Medien zu analysieren und Metadaten wie Schnittgrenzen, Szenen, Personen, Audiotranskriptionen und andere durchzuführen. Xtrieval ist ein hochflexibles Werkzeug, welches die Recherche in beliebigen Medien optimal ermöglicht. Für die Durchführung des Projekts wurden insgesamt drei mögliche Einsatzszenarien definiert, in denen die Frameworks unterschiedlichen Anforderungen ausgesetzt waren: - Archivierung - Interaktives und automatisiertes Fernsehen - Medizinische Videoanalysen Entsprechend der Szenarien wurden die Frameworks optimiert und technische Workflows konzipiert und realisiert. Demonstratoren dienen zur Gewinnung weiterer Verwertungspartner. / The project "ValidAX - Validation of the frameworks AMOPA and XTRIEVAL" examines the possibilities of developing the software framework AMOPA (Automated Moving Picture Annotator) and Xtrieval (Extensible Information Retrieval Framework) towards a commercial usage. The frameworks have been created by the Chair Media Informatics at the TU Chemnitz. AMOPA is able to analyze any audiovisual media and to generate additional metadata such as scene detection, face detection, audio transcriptions and others. Xtrieval is a highly flexible tool that allows users to search in any media. For the implementation of the project a total of three possible scenarios have been defined, in which the frameworks were exposed to different requirements: • Archiving • Interactive and automated TV • Medical video analysis According to the scenarios, the frameworks were optimized and designed and technical workflows were conceptualized and implemented. Demonstrators are used to obtain further commercialization partner.

The German Free State of Saxony has a high density of independent local and regional television broadcasters. From the antenna communities at the time of the GDR, private TV broadcasters developed after the reunification. In the period of the social transformations in the 1990s, these local TV stations documented the profound changes of the everyday life of the individual, of the local communities and the historical transformations in society and economy during the early years after the German reunion. These recordings are a substantial part of the cultural heritage of Saxony and of the highest interest for social, cultural and media research. Due to how the original material was produced on consumer videotapes, today the recordings are threatened by decay. In the next few years the recordings will be lost, if not acted quickly. Some state and private institutions are currently developing concepts for the preservation of the audiovisual heritage in Saxony In this paper, we discuss how these media objects should be scientifically investigated, in the sense of media and sociocultural dimensions, questions and categories. Based on our experiences and investigations, we present a technical concept which shows how to digitalize, index, describe and categorize copious amounts of videotapes for the preservation, archiving and public access of this important part of the cultural heritage of Germany.

This article elaborates the role of interpersonal communication in media effects. Based on an extensive literature review, two lines of arguments are illustrated: the antagonistic and the synergetic position. The literature provides theoretical and empirical support for both positions especially in the field of persuasive media input. To complete the view, two experiments with nonpersuasive media input are presented. The first experiment addresses the role of conversations in cognitive news effects. The synergetic position is supported: conversation leads to elaboration and more profound recall of media content. The second experiment deals mainly with emotional media effects in entertainment. No general impact of conversation on media effects was demonstrated. Nonetheless, the authors find evidence that conversations about the media engender a more critical and reserved stance toward the media content and protagonists. The article concludes with a discussion of the implications for further research into the field.
