Negatividade e ruptura: configurações da crítica de Robert Kurz / Negativity and rupture: configurations of Robert Kurz\'s critique

Regatieri, Ricardo Pagliuso 11 March 2010 (has links)
The aim of this Masters thesis is to deal with some aspects of the critical approach which has been elaborated by Robert Kurz in the last few years. The analysis intends (1) to show how Kurz recovers, reformulates and expands the marxian critique of value and fetishism, (2) to examine, in this appropriation and rereading accomplished by the author, the mediation of the Critical Theory and (3) to point out the results achieved by Kurz concerning the themes that are discussed here. The thesis focuses on Kurzs theoretical construction encompassing the following topics: critique of traditional Marxism, critique of the subject and resignification of the concept of fetishism. The focus on these topics allows to realize how Kurzs elaboration fulfills a critique of the Modernity itself which addresses to its grounds.

No. of bitstreams: 1 PCL - Eliane Chermann Kogut.pdf: 1115729 bytes, checksum: 35d7a3942667101db002d0980a5bcddb (MD5) Previous issue date: 2006-11-08 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / This dissertation investigates the sexuality of male transvestites here denominated crossdressers (cds) to differentiate them from the transvestites that prostitute themselves. It is an exploratory research. Thirty nine cds were interviewed; eight cds patients have attended psychoanalysis sessions for five years; the literature produced by crossdressing groups (magazines, books, supporter sites, dating sites and erotic sites) was researched and the author has developed familiarity with members of the Brazilian Crossdressing Club. The Freudian theory of psychosexual development and the psychopathologic concepts of Lacan and McDougall are utilized to guide the research, to which the concept of crossdresser erotism is aggregated after the analysis of the data. In the final part, the findings and hypotheses of the present research are compared to the already classical psychoanalytical hypotheses on this subject (notably Stoller´s and Lacanian followers ). The necessity of revising some of the classical hypotheses of the crossdressers psychodynamic is stressed, as well as the relationships with fetishism and with perversion.

Produção e consumo de leis penais no capitalismo: o fetichismo da mercadoria / Production and consumption of penal laws in capitalism: commodity fetishism

Mayra Cotta Cardozo de Souza 15 August 2012 (has links)
The dialectical historical process is accompanied not only the transformation of the normative content of the laws, but the transformation of their own legal form itself. As the organization of production will be developing more complex social relationships, the categories of law have also become more complex, increasingly autonomous and defined. Capitalism is a movement, as such, if you stop, can not sustain itself. If all the people staying at home, still without consuming, the system collapses, because the commodity needs to circulate. Also, the criminal justice system needs to produce punitive rules to keep, even though the circulation of them happen based only on their symbolic value. the production of criminal law reproduces the logic of commodity production, which, by means of fetishism, secretes the value of the use-value, enabling laws are created regardless of whether they are useful, but only to move and strengthen the structure punitive . Understanding the split between value and usefulness is essential to clarify the fetishism of the criminal provision, which manifests itself through the expansion of criminalization and increased penalties. As much as it has clear inefficiencies in the production of punitive laws to solve social problems, creation of new crimes is anchored in its value, separated from its practical usefulness.

Moraes, Verena Raquel Fornetti. January 2007 (has links)
Abstract: We discuss the idea that there is a fetishism of scientific journalism on Superinteressante Magazine, its special editions and on National Geographic Magazine, published in United States and translated to be published in Brazil. Our goal is to investigate what happens with science when it becomes a product, made specifically to sell magazines, and when it's subdued by magazine style's patterns: sensation, success and relaxing. The hypothesis is when science stories take this form, they become fetishism because it's transformed in simple entertainment. Observe, however, that our purpose is not to criticize the science on media analyzing if the texts are coherents to researches but point out how science looses the critic potential in this fetishism. Our interest is demonstrate how scientific journalism fails using science as an arm to understand society. / Mestre

The Commodity Club: Commodity Fetishism in Modern Art and Tattoos

Maiden, Shelby 01 May 2018 (has links)
The current culture of commodity fetishism that surrounds both modern art and tattoos are disproportionately a part of the perpetuation of an artificial sense of society and community. It promotes the notion that by simply by inking the deeper layers of their skin or by spending millions on a painting that somehow one becomes elevated and enters an elite space, or club, of people like them.

On Sexual Imprinting in Humans

Aronsson, Hanna January 2011 (has links)
In this thesis I investigate whether human sexual preferences develop through sexual imprinting. Sexual imprinting is the acquisition of sexual preferences through non-rewarded experiences with parents and siblings during an early sensitive period and it is known to exist in many other animals. Learning is often sex specific so that males, for instance, learn to prefer as sexual partners individuals that look like their mother, and avoid individuals that look like their father. First, sexual imprinting in animals and humans is reviewed and compared to prevailing evolutionary views presupposing genetically determined sexual preferences. Further, by means of web surveys, I have explored the relationship between childhood exposure to parents with certain natural and cultural traits and sexual attraction to these traits in a partner. Cultural traits were included because it is unlikely that preferences for them are genetically determined adaptations. Parental effects varied between traits. For instance, in heterosexual males, a positive effect of mother was found on attraction to smoking, but not glasses, while a negative paternal effect was found on attraction to glasses, but not smoking. However, when maternal and paternal effects were investigated for a large number of artificial and natural traits, including smoking and glasses, an overall positive effect of opposite sex parent emerged in both heterosexual males and females. Additionally, in the last study we explored a sexual preference for pregnant and lactating women. Results suggest that exposure to a pregnant and lactating mother had an effect if it occurred when the respondent was between 1,5 and 5 years old. In conclusion, these results suggest that human sexual preferences are the result of sex specific learning during a sensitive period. Sexual imprinting should therefore be recognised as a plausible explanation to human sexual preferences that deserves further scientific investigation. / At the time of the doctoral defense, the following papers were unpublished and had a status as follows: Paper 3: Manuscript. Paper 4: Manuscript.

Fault Lines: Queer Skinheads and Gay Male Subjectivity in the Film Praxis of Bruce LaBruce

Da Silva, Jose January 2004 (has links)
Fault Lines positions a theory of gay male subjectivity as it relates to the Queer skinhead and its dissemination in gay male pornography. In narrating the transformation of the original skinhead as a subcultural youth type to its present re-signification as a fetish and sexual identity within gay male subculture, Fault Lines reveals a tripartite problem of fetishism, sadomasochism and fascism. Through an analysis of Bruce LaBruce's film Skin Gang / Skin Flick (1999) these problems are contextualised within a discourse of gay male pornography, broadening the investigation to consider how problems of masculinity, violence and race manifest within a distinctly gay male sexual imaginary. Examining the representational function of the Queer skinhead, Fault Lines seeks to speculate on how notions of a gay male subject and subjectivity can be established at the intersection of an aesthetic, political and social experience.
