Avaliação de características de desempenho e qualidade de carne em linhagens e touros representativos da raça Nelore, utilizando ultrassonografia, análise de imagens e NIRS / Evaluation of growth and beef quality traits in lineages and representative Nellore sires, using ultrasound, video image analysis and NIRS measurementsMarina de Nadai Bonin 05 October 2012 (has links)
The objective of this study was to evaluate the differences of growth, carcass composition and beef quality traits among lineages and representative Nellore sires, using new technologies to collect data and estimate genetic and phenotypic parameters. Data on growth, carcass and meat quality traits of Nellore bulls, raised in pastures and included in genetic evaluation programs were analyzed. Individual information on live ultrasound carcass measurements and frame were, also, collected. After slaughter, carcass, beef quality traits and video image analysis (VIA) of muscle Longissimus were obtained for estimation of beef quality attributes like tenderness, cooking losses, intramuscular fat and pH. Evaluations with Near Infrared Spectroscopy (VIS-NIRS) were made to quantify tenderness and lipid in Longissimus muscle. Genetic parameters were estimated for all traits analyzed in this study. Traits like performance, frame, ultrasound carcass evaluation and meat quality were used to compare lineages and representative Nellore sires. This research provide precious information to development of auxiliary tools for genetic improvement of growth, carcass and meat quality traits in Nellore herds, and provide important information about variability and genetic value of founders and representative sires of this breed.

This work is associated to the research project to implement Brazil FrameNet Project (SALOMÃO, 2009a) and it aims at the lexical description of seven Lexical Units (LU) which evoke the opening scene in the Closure frame: desabotoar, desarrolhar, desatarraxar, destampar, and three multiword expressions: abrir_((tampa)), levantar_((tampa)), and tirar_((tampa)). Once observed that the interframe Using Relation links the Closure and the Body_movement frames in their Brazilian Portuguese counterparts, there is the lexical description of three LU which evoke scenes of opening in the Body_movement frame: abrir_((boca)), abrir_((mão)) and abrir_((olho)). The research was done based on corpus evidences taken from five electronic corpora. This work also has the purpose to record the combinatory syntactic and semantic properties (the so-called valences) of these LU. Taking for granted the theoretical references from the Frames Semantics and inserted within the sociocognitive agenda, the research is developed from the schemes of FrameNet American Project. Following the frame description and the definition of the Frame Elements (FE), the sentence annotation is operated from the postulation of its three main layers: the Frame Element, the Grammatical Function and the Phrase Type. It is expected that the analyses developed in this work may contribute to the construction of Brazilian Portuguese counterpart to FrameNet semantic net.

Forbidden Love and Deadly Diseases : A Dynamic Frame Analysis About Homophobia and HIV in UgandaBerg, Elin January 2017 (has links)
This thesis has strived to analyze how institutionalized frames may affect how another topic is discussed in a political context. This presented framing strategy is referred to as frame bridging. The aim was to analyze whether the framing of homosexuality in Uganda has affected its HIV policy. It is based on the constructivist understanding of policy as something created in dynamic social processes, which can be strategically framed intentionally or have unintentional consequences. Uganda is a compelling case since its homophobia is institutionalized to a degree that makes it difficult for people in to express gay-positive sentiment. Dynamic frame analysis was chosen as method. The material analyzed consisted primarily of statements from key politicians and official policy documents from the Ugandan government between 2009 and 2017. Firstly, the frames that exist upon homosexuality and HIV in Uganda were distinguished. These frames, illustrated tensions between the West and Africa, conflicting roles on masculinity, HIV as consequence of immoral behavior. Secondly, the frames within HIV policy were scrutinized. These frames outlined HIV as a consequence of promiscuity, as a problem especially to those with ‘risky sexual behavior’ or it failed to at all acknowledge e.g. men having sex with men. This thesis demonstrates that a frame bridging is present although it is not overt but rather implicit. The HIV policy is heteronormative and renders sexual minorities invisible. A possible explanation is that the exclusion of men having sex with men in HIV policy is strategic and due to aid dependency from Western donors. Since actors are confined in their social realities, Ugandan politicians may not be explicitly homophobic in HIV policy since they must acknowledge the Western donors’ influence. This thesis has illustrated that the relationship between homophobia and HIV ultimately turns in to a discussion about tensions between an ‘open’ West and a ‘deprived’ Africa.

Streaming Video Based on an Intelligent Frame Skipping TechniqueBanelis, Justas, Proscevicius, Arunas January 2011 (has links)
Video streaming is an important field of global communications and data processing. It is divided into server and client sides connected via network. Video streaming is concerned with delivering video data from server to client over the network as fast and with as little loss as possible. In this study the possibilities to minimize the amount of data transferred over the network in video streaming are investigated and a video streaming technique comprised of server and client sides is proposed. To expand the flexibility and adaptability of the proposed video streaming technique an operational parameter system was constructed and the parameter value ranges were defined. The proposed video streaming technique was then applied to three sample videos. Before streaming the server side of the proposed technique reduced the frame count of input videos based on operational parameter values while the client side reconstructed the skipped frames. Then the quality of the resulting videos was measured and evaluated. To evaluate the reconstructed frames and videos the PSNR measurement method was used. The study concludes that by using the proposed video streaming technique it is possible to reduce the amount of transfer data by dropping frames on the server side and reconstructing them on the client side.

Changing language, changing personality : Swedish bilinguals on the effects of speaking EnglishWedérus, Thomas January 2017 (has links)
Language influences not only the world-view but also the self-perceived personality of its users. One explanation for this is that the language used functions as a cue activating different sets of cultural frames within its users – a phenomenon known as Cultural Frame Shifting (CFS). Limited previous research on language and personality warrants exploring this topic further. The current study employed a qualitative design and semi-structured interviews to explore the views and experiences of 12 Swedish-English bilinguals. Results showed self-perceived changes in personality and extraversion, but also the sentiment of emotions being easier to express in English than in Swedish. Possible practical applications could include therapeutic work and treatment of social anxiety and public speaking anxiety.

Lost and Found in the Age of Glocalization : A Framing Analysis of Indonesian Media in Reporting the SDGsHaryati, Suci January 2020 (has links)
This is a study of how three national newspapers in Indonesia frame and build the frames of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) reportage. Indonesia is one out of the 193 countries who signed the SDGs, which is a form of a globalization project. Using the Critical Discourse Analysis, several articles from Kompas, The Jakarta Post (the JP), and Media Indonesia (MI) are analyzed. By using Lecheller and de Vreese’s stages of framing model, findings of the CDA are then explained and put into the context of frame-building. CDA is also applied through interviewing the editors-in chief to apprehend the professional ideology of media institutions which influences the frame-building and the form of frames in the news. The study finds that frame in the news of the SDGs reportage in Kompas, MI, and the JP thematizing Indonesia’s achievements within three main themes namely gender equality, partnership, and environment. The introverted domestications with domestic outlook dominate the SDGs reportage. According to the editorial policy makers in the newspapers, the frame-building of frequent absence of the global outlook and extraverted domestication are influenced by the target readers (Kompas), reader’s occupation and limited human and financial resources (the JP), and the editorial policy of supporting the government (the JP and MI).

Modeling Alternatives for Implementing the Point-based Bundle Block AdjustmentChen Ma (10693164) 06 May 2021 (has links)
<div>This thesis examines the multilinear equations of the calibrated pinhole camera. </div><div>The multilinear equations describe the linear relations between camera parameters and image observations in matrix or tensor formats. </div><div>This thesis includes derivations and analysis of the trilinear equations through the point feature relation. For the four-frame and more than four frame cases, this paper gives derivations and analysis using a combination of the bilinear and trilinear equations to represent general multi-frame point geometry. As a result, a three-frame model (TFM) for general multi-frame point geometry is given. This model provides a concise set of minimal and sufficient equations and minimal unknowns.</div><div> </div><div>Based on the TFM, there are two bundle adjustment (BA) approaches developed. </div><div>The TFM does not involve the object parameters/coordinates necessary and indispensable for the collinearity equation employed by BA. </div><div>The two methods use TFM as the condition equation fully and partially, replacing the collinearity equation. </div><div>One operation using both TFM and the collinearity equation is designed to engage the object structures' prior knowledge. </div><div>The synthetical and real data experiments demonstrate the rationality and validity of the TFM and the two TFM based methods. </div><div>When the unstable estimate of the object structures appears, the TFM-based BA methods have a higher acceptance ratio of the adjustment results. </div>
