This work has as main objective to understand the experience of treatment in spiritism and specific objectives, describing the types of treatment offered in spiritualism understand the meaning that leads people to seek this mode of treatment,
understanding the experience of treatment and its possible contributions to mental health. The research is qualitative phenomenological perspective. Obviously, there are different treatment modalities in spiritism, however the choice of the participants followed the pattern of volunteering without restricting the type of treatment undergone, gender, reason as to demand treatment or age. Participants were followed up at Spiritual Hospital Patrícia Bacelar (HEPB - Camaragibe / PE). As research instruments, the narrative from Walter Benjamin and the field diary were used to get access to treatment experience in spiritualism. The theoretical framework has been
constructed based on the theory Frankl, who understands spirituality as the human dimension, in line with results of this research. To analyze the results, we used the philosophical hermeneutics of Gadamer, who reached a final narrative constructed from the dialogue between the participants, the researcher and the theoretical framework that justified the search. Our results reveal an eminent search for other
care that not only the doctor, as well as the use of religious resources as complementary to medical practice. Most of the reports demonstrated the continuity of medical treatments simultaneously spiritual treatment. In this context, the stimulus accountability of the individual for self-care while transcendence proved crucial for adherence to medical treatment as well as to overcome situations of intense suffering.

Logotherapy and imagery work: the contribution of Boeschemeyer’s ‘Wertimagination’Meyer-Prentice, Monika 14 September 2011 (has links)
In this qualitative, interpretive study a new and promising imagery
technique, called Wertimagination (WIM®) [Value-Oriented Imagery] was
researched. It was developed by the logotherapist Uwe Boeschemeyer in
Germany. At the main focus of this study are the psychotherapeutic work
experiences of logotherapists applying WIM®. Their perceptions with
regard to Wertimagination’s potencies, limitations and its overall
contribution to Logotherapy are explored. Eight semi-structured expert
interviews were conducted with German logotherapists offering WIM® at
their practice. The interview contents are analysed and compared with
supplementing perspectives: with Wertimagination experiences reported
by other (logo)therapists, by clients and by the developer of the method
(Boeschemeyer), extracted from the existing body of literature. The results
show that Value-Oriented Imagery by all three researched parties –
(logo)therapists, clients and its developer – is experienced to be a high
potential logotherapeutic, salutogenetic (resources-oriented) approach
contributing inter alia towards a person’s inner meaning finding, selfacceptance
and trust in life. / Psychology / M.A. (Psychology)

Previous issue date: 2010-05-12 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This paper addresses the relationship between God and the cure of
meaningless neuroses. From the works of Viktor Frankl, the Viennese psychiatrist
and psychologist, this paper describes what are these neuroses, called noogenics,
neuroses that have their origin in the dimension of the human existence. The
concept of noogenic neurosis goes beyond a psychophysical condition, therefore, to
the author, the human being is essentially spiritual. This spiritual core, around which
are grouped the psychic and physical, is responsible for the moral conscience, love
and art. As the modern man deviates himself away from his religion, he has
increased the existential emptiness, because he can not find a reason for his actions,
which can lead to a lack of meaning, characteristic of noogenic neurosis. Thus, the
man would get ill in his spirituality. For this type of illness, Frankl has created the
Logotherapy. A specific type of such spiritual disease is the mass neurosis, which is
the highlight of this research. For the author, God, who is the ultimate meaning of
human existence, dialogues with the man when he talks to his own moral
conscience, which is transcendent. Using the concepts of God and man given by the
author, this research addresses the relationship between human being and the
transcendence and how it would, through this relationship, and a subsequent
meeting with the meaning, the cure of the mentioned neuroses / Este trabalho aborda a relação entre Deus e cura das neuroses da falta de
sentido.
