Komma ut för att komma in : En diskursanalys av Migrationsverkets bedömningsunderlag i HBT-relaterade asylärenden / Coming out in order to come in: : A discourse analysis of Migrationsverkets documents regarding LGBT related asylum cases

Meldo, Malin, Valfridsson, Emy January 2015 (has links)
The aim of this study was to examine normative conceptions based on sexuality, gender and western context in the Swedish migration office’s (Migrationsverket) documents concerning LGBT asylum seekers. The study is conducted by a norm-critical approach and intersectional perspectives. The study consists of a discourse analysis based on Judith Butler’s theory about the heterosexual matrix and performativity, as well as Stuart Hall’s theory about the West and the Rest. Our data consists of policy documents regarding LGBT asylum administration. When analysing the documents, we found that they are based on heteronormative assumptions and western perspectives. Besides being based on heteronormative assumptions and western perspectives, we found that the documents occasionally contains of a series of contradictive aspects on LGBT related asylum cases.

Love and Its Discontents : An Analysis of How Gender and Love are Portrayed in The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers

Lund, Marcus January 2019 (has links)
This essay aims to analyze how The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet (2014) by Becky Chambers differs from a majority of science fiction novels regarding its depiction of gender and love. The theoretical approach used is gender studies and heteronormativity, with a focus on Judith Butler’s heterosexual matrix, and Dorthe Staunes’ definition of intersectionality. The findings of this essay show that this novel deviates from the status quo of having a white, heterosexual male as the protagonist and instead employs a primarily non-white, multi-species crew as its main characters. Characters with disabilities are given the right to exist in their own right, instead of existing as individuals who need to be cured through technology. The notion of love is also depicted in a nuanced way, where romance does not have to be an important factor in order to have a fulfilling relationship. In regard to gender, Lovey’s forming of her gender identity, with her being an AI, sets this novel apart from the majority of science fiction novels. There are aspects in this novel that still adhere to the heterosexual matrix but the aspects that veer away from this, such as the Aandrisks’ family structures, deviate in such a way that it sets The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet apart from a number of other contemporary science fiction works.

Pilevång Bergqvist, Emma January 2023 (has links)
This thesis aims to analyze and trace gender normativities and stereotypes in the testimoniesfrom the #metoo call #nödvärn (2017) and #nödvärn 2.0 (n.d) in Sweden within the policedepartment. This thesis includes a qualitative thematic analysis of the material combined witha positioning theory. The analysis is based on testimonies from #nödvärn and #nödvärn 2.0regarding harassments inside the Swedish police force. The theoretical framework in thisthesis are based on queer theory with concepts like gender norm, normativities andstereotyping that are illuminating in the material. The thesis also includes an intersectionalapproach to understand the hierarchical perspective between gender and sexuality that areconsisting through the material. This thesis contributes to research due to the missing LGBTQperspective. The analysis shows clearly stated gender stereotypes in both genders, but alsodifferent stereotypes according to status and sexuality in the testimonies. This with a strongconnection to the macho norm that are consisting throughout the previous research andanalysis, with other normativities illustrated such as gender normative and heteronormativity. Finally, there is a hierarchical level illustrated in the analysis related to inclusion andexclusion by categorization.

Intersexuality, and its medical and social implications

Danielsson, Magnus January 2006 (has links)
This is a theoretical study of intersexuality and of its medical and social implications. My interest of inquiry includes both exploring, describing and explaining. One could say that this study is a form of qualitative analysis of contents. The aim of the study is to fill a gap and to raise awareness of the notion intersex. The conclusions show that social models of explanation to today’s paradigm of intervention are valid.

“hard to type with one hand” : Att göra genus och sexualitet i lättklädda livestreams på Twitch.tv

Bruzelli, Caroline January 2024 (has links)
This study explores the (hetero)sexualized online space that is the category “Pools, Hot Tubsand Beaches” on the streaming platform Twitch.tv. The aim of the study is to gain a further understanding of how gender and sexuality is performed under the specific conditions offered by the space. Interactions between livestreamer and chat in three livestreams have been transcribed and analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. I find that the space is characterized by the logic of the heterosexual matrix as defined by Judith Butler, as well by two foundational asymmetries that inform the way that gender and sexuality is performed in the spaces studied: the asymmetry of perspective and the asymmetry of performativity. These conditions are actively negotiated with by the subjects that interact in the space. Furthermore, relying on the work of Raewyn Connell, I find that the subjects conduct a labor of positionality with regards to notions of good and bad masculinity, basing their sense ofcommunity on the abjectification of “other men” in order to construct their own masculinity.

Bortom ”könet”? : om Simones förvandling, avslöjande och återställande i Ulf Starks Dårfinkar & dönickar (1984) / Beyond “gender”? : Simone`s transformation, unveiling and restoration in Ulf Stark`s Dårfinkar & dönickar (1984).

Chaitas, Maria January 2005 (has links)

The aim of this paper is to analyse how subject, gender and sexuality is constructed in the book Dårfinkar & dönickar (1984), by Ulf Stark. In relation to this I have also analysed how the main character, Simone, develops from being a child into becoming a teenager.

Queertheory is the theoretical basis of this paper. Queer theory questions heteronormativity and aims to dissolve conceptions and notions that function in an excluding and limiting way. Queer theory also questions conceptions that seem obvious and/or natural, for example “woman”/”man” and “homo-/heterosexuality”.

I have chosen to focus the analysis on a number key events in the book and they are categorised according to Tiina Rosenberg`s three dramaturgic concepts: transformation, unveiling and restoration. I have also focused on how masculinities are constructed and to be able to this I have used R. W Connel`s theory. The result of my analysis is that the representation of gender in the book are constructed in accordance to the heterosexual matrix. It is also clear that Simone`s development from childhood to teenager follows Rosenberg`s three dramaturgic concepts.

Ladies av Mara Lee– en chick-lit som alla andra? : En narratologisk och diskursanalytisk studie av Ladies och chick-lit-genren.

Karlsson, Maria January 2008 (has links)

My thesis deals with the novel Ladies, written in 2007 by the Swedish author Mara Lee. ”Förhoppningsvis är man två” : En studie över hur 18-åringar i en mindre stad i Sverige resonerar kring kön, kropp och sexualitet

Johansson, Linda, Wallin, Petra January 2010 (has links)

The essay is about how teenagers around 18 years of age in a small town in Sweden talk about gender, body and sexuality. The study is based on two focus group interviews with five boys and four girls. We have then thematized and analyzed the material with queer theory. The results show how young people see heterosexuality as something 'natural' and gender as biologically determined. The teenagers are critical towards anything that deviates from the traditional nuclear family consisting of mother, father and children. Norms are created in their speech as some of them acts as so called "border guards" for these norms. Our conclusion is that there are difficulties to be deviate in terms of gender, sexuality and body in a small town.
