Utveckling och konstruktion av testrigg för planetväxlar i industrirobotar / Development and design of a testing rig for planetary gears in industrial robots

Åkesson, Michael, Niska, Christoffer January 2016 (has links)

Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy on NMC811 at varying temperature and state of charge / Elektrokemisk impedansspektroskopi på NMC811 vid olika temperaturer och laddningstillstånd

Fredlén, Alexander January 2021 (has links)
In this work, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy has been used to try and produce reproducible impedance data for the cathode material NMC811. Data that could serve as the basis of parameter extraction for the construction of a physics-based model. Furthermore, the effect of state of charge, temperature, and history of the cell on the impedance has been analysed. Based on the results of preliminary tests, an experimental cycle was constructed in which the cathode impedance of a NMC811//Graphite cell was measured at varying temperatures and state of charge, both following charge and discharge of the cell. Reproducible results were achieved, and it was shown how the state of charge and temperature of the cell had a major effect on the measured impedance. Unfortunately, no conclusions could be made about the history effect on impedance due to poor stability in the low frequency regions of the impedance measurements.

Test Equipment for Physical Testing of Vibration Isolator / Testutrustning för fysisk testning av vibrationsisolator

ALVETEG, ADAM, JOHANSSON, MARKUS January 2021 (has links)
Vibrations is a phenomenon that can cause problems to systems if not dealt with. In heavy duty trucks, vibrations are mainly caused by uneven roads and from the combustion engine. Vibrations can damage components, reduce their service life and cause discomfort for the driver. To manage the problem, vibration isolators can be used to absorb energy and thus reduce the vibrations. Rubber is a commonly used material for vibration isolators thanks to its viscoelastic properties. However, due to the characteristics of rubber, there are difficulties to make accurate simulation models of components such as vibration isolators. To improve the accuracy in simulations, physical testing can be performed to measure the material properties and characteristics such as hysteresis to get a better understanding of how the material and the component will behave. The purpose of the master thesis was to generate and develop concepts of a test rig for a specific vibration isolator from Scania where the force as a function of displacement in the component’s Z-direction should be measured as well as the force in the component’s Y-direction. Further, the component should be compressed in a vertical linear motion. Based on the background information, the following research questions were stated: - How can a hysteresis curve based on frequency input be found by performing physical testing? - How can a test rig be designed to test and measure the material properties of a rubber component in order to parametrize the material? The vibration isolator was investigated and analyzed. From the analysis, seven concepts were generated and were evaluated with a Pugh matrix. From the evaluation, two concepts were chosen to be further developed before a final evaluation using a desirability chart was made. The master thesis resulted in two concepts that were developed named Hinged beam and Guiding plates. Guiding plates was the concept that scored the best in the final evaluation, but the concepts had different strength and weaknesses. Both concepts fulfilled the requirement of compressing the vibration isolator in a vertical linear motion but the measurement of the force in the component’s Y-direction needs to be further investigated.

Increasing Damping Capacity of Shear Walls with Glued-Nail Joints / Ökning av dämpningen hos skjuvväggar med limmade spikförband

Karlsson, Fredrik, Ramic, Zlatan, Tartes, Karl January 2012 (has links)
The purpose of this master thesis has been to investigate the possibility to increase the damping capacity of shear walls with the use of glue in combination with nails. It has been done with experiment and with FE-simulations.   The first experimental part is tensile tests of four different glue types which have been analyzed to get material data. The second experimental part is analysis of glued-nail joint in shear test. FE-simulations of glued-nail joints are finally done in Abaqus/CAE.   The experiments in shear tests of glued-nail joints showed that two glues failed and could not be used for further analysis. The two other glues had an increase in damping capacity compared with results from nail joint.   Further FE-simulations of glued-nailed joints have to be done in order to calibrate the FE-model with the results of glued-nailed joints in shear tests. The uncertainty is found in the material properties of the glue, experimental test data was not adequate. The conclusion is that glued-nail joints can increase the damping capacity in shear walls. / Damping capacity, shear wall, hysteresis, shear test, finite element method, Abaqus/CAE

Relay settings for frequency derivative protection against islanding : Optimizing RoCoF-Hysteresis and Delay for the Swedish power grid: An investigation of relevant values / Reläinställningar för frekvensderivataskydd mot ödrift : Optimering av RoCoF-Hysteres och Fördröjning för det svenska elnätet: En undersökning för relevanta värden

Safari, Ahmad January 2023 (has links)
This report addresses the parameter settings for a protective relay designed to safeguard a 15 kW wind turbine located in Rimbo, Norrtälje municipality, against unintentional islanding. This type of situation arises when distributed energy resources continue to supply local loads, even if the main grid has been unintentionally disconnected. The previous protection system experienced malfunctions and has been replaced with a new protective relay to ensure reliable protection. The new protective relay introduces two parameters (relay settings) associated with unintentional islanding protection function, namely RoCoF (rate of change of frequency) hysteresis, and delay, which were not defined in the previous protective relay. This report aims to determine suitable relay settings and verify that the relay operates as intended, taking into account both local and national requirements for connected generators. When these requirements did not specify or recommend a specific value, reference was made to practices in neighbouring countries, and consideration was given to the generator owner's benefit. Testing the relay with the chosen settings was crucial to ensure a correct understanding and accurate input of the settings. The testing was conducted in a laboratory environment with carefully defined signals of controlled frequency and voltage, while the relay's trip output was logged. The report includes information about the current settings along with a theoretical background to explain their functionality. It also presents test results and the provided information on parameter configurations. Additionally, recommended settings for RoCoF hysteresis and implementation delay are suggested, aiming to enhance protection against inadvertent operation. The results confirmed that the relay can be used in Rimbo, Norrtälje municipality, according to the parameters described in the report.

Open-Circuit-Voltage hysteresis measurement and modelling of LiFePO4 Batteries : Master Thesis Report - 2023

Larrat, Guillaume January 2023 (has links)
In a context of an expected increasing use of Lithium-ion batteries in the transportation sector, Volvo AB is developing its own solutions for large electric vehicles. It is then beneficial to reduce the costs, the energy demand and the raw materials demand by improving the battery systems’ performances. For that purpose, understanding the physical phenomena which come into play in lithium ion cells is necessary. This project’s motivation has been to deepen the existing knowledge on one or a group of these phenomena which include those at the origin of the Open Circuit Voltage (OCV) hysteresis. It is characterized by the difference in charging and discharging voltage when the cell is at a resting state. These voltage differences might result in heat losses in the cells. In this thesis, the behaviour of the Open Circuit Voltage (OCV) under different operating conditions is studied, and a Preisach empirical hysteresis model is developed. The core part of the work consisted in experimental measurements of the Open-Circuit-Voltage of 10 Ah prismatic LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) cells. These measurements were completed using the Galvanostatic Intermittent Titration Technique (GITT) that consists of alternative current pulse and relaxation phases. The tests were performed using relaxation times ranging from 1 hour to 48 hours with the cells being under various cycles (series of charge and discharge). The impacts of the temperature, various current rates from 0.1C to 1C (1 A to 10 A) on the OCV and the voltage relaxation were evaluated. The amplitude of the OCV hysteresis that does not vanish after full relaxation, which is defined by the difference between the OCV charge and the OCV after discharge, was found to vary between 5 mV and 20-25 mV depending on the State-of-Charge of the cells. Two peaks are identified around 20-30% and 65-70% State-of-Charge. The measured OCV hysteresis with 24 hours relaxation is about half of the measured OCV hysteresis with 2-5 hours relaxation. The experiments also measured an apparent smaller OCV hysteresis when the magnitude of the current increases; this trend is to be verified after full relaxation. The temperature has an impact on the OCV which is averaging around ±0.2 mV/K. The analysis of the voltage relaxation behaviour described that at low temperatures and low C-Rates, the cells get closer to equilibrium voltage at a slower pace. In addition, a higher test time, characterized by longer relaxation times after each step and/or a larger number of steps within the same State of Charge (SOC) range, tends to increase the time required for the cell to reach an equilibrium. After completing the OCV measurements, a Preisach hysteresis model is developed based on the experimental results. The model predicts the OCV variations of an Lithium ferrophosphate (LFP) cell at ambient temperature when going through various charge and discharge cycles. Its estimated Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) is 3 mV, but the accuracy of the model could be partially confounded with measurement uncertainty. The main outcomes are a more accurate description of the voltage relaxation behaviour and a new estimation of the amplitude of the OCV hysteresis in LFP cells.

MEHRPARVAR, MAHSHID January 2014 (has links)
The eciency of electrical machines is of major concern due to their widespread usage and the globally increasing awareness of energy consumption issues. Iron losses have a signicant impact on the total and thus researchers and manufacturers of electrical machines are developing dierent strategies in order to reduce them. The iron losses are highly dependent on the magnetic material that is used and thus it is necessary to identify its relevant characteristics. In this work, the development of a control system for inducing a pure sinusoidal magnetic ux density in the magnetic material is described. This is necessary in order to perform characterisation of the magnetic material. The main diculty is the highly non-linear and hysteretic relationship between the magnetic eld strength and the magnetic ux density. In order to mitigate the eect of the hysteresis, a mathematical inverse model was used in the control system. To nd a suitable model, an extensive study of literature was performed and discussed in this work. The Preisach model and its dynamic extension was chosen as the most suitable approach. A detailed description of both theory and implementation details is provided in this work. Furthermore, the model is validated by comparing simulation against measurement data for two dierent materials. In the last part of this work, the inverse model is combined with a controller to form a feedback control system. Two dierent control schemes are investigated: a simpler PI controller and a more elaborate disturbance observer (DOB) based control scheme. The DOB is used to observe the hysteresis inversion error and the observation is used to correct for the error. The controller's ability to produce a pure sinusoidal magnetic ux density was assessed by simulations with dierent magnetic materials at varying frequencies.

Vyas, Saurabh, Jonnalagadda, Venkata Dinesh Raju January 2020 (has links)
A hydraulic damper plays an important role in tuning the handling and comfort characteristicsof a vehicle. Tuning and selecting a damper based on subjective evaluation, by considering theopinions of various users, would be an inefficient method since the comfort requirements of usersvary a lot. Instead, mathematical models of damper and simulation of these models in variousoperating conditions are preferred to standardize the tuning procedure, quantify the comfortlevels and reduce cost of testing. This would require a model, which is good enough to capture thebehaviour of damper in various operating and extreme conditions. The Force-Velocity (FV) curve is one of the most widely used model of a damper. This curve isimplemented either as an equation or as a look-up table. It is a plot between the maximum forceat each peak velocity point. There are certain dynamic phenomena like hysteresis and dependencyon the displacement of damper, which cannot be captured with a FV curve model, but are requiredfor better understanding of the vehicle behaviour. This thesis was conducted in cooperation with Volvo Cars with an aim to improve the existingdamper model which is a Force-Velocity curve. This work focuses on developing a damper model, which is complex enough to capture the phenomena discussed above and simple enough to beimplemented in real time simulations. Also, the thesis aims to establish a standard method toparameterise the damper model and generate the Force-Velocity curve from the tests performedon the damper test rig. A test matrix which includes the standard tests for parameterising andthe extreme test cases for the validation of the developed model will be developed. The final focusis to implement the damper model in a multi body simulation (MBS) software. The master thesis starts with an introduction, where the background for the project is described and then the thesis goals are set. It is followed by a literature review in which fewadvanced damper models are discussed in brief. Then, a step-by-step process of developing thedamper model is discussed along with few more possible options. Later, the construction of a testmatrix is discussed in detail followed by the parameter identification process. Next, the validationof the developed damper model is discussed using the test data from Volvo Hällered ProvingGround (HPG). After validation, implementation of the model in VI CarRealTime and Adams Caralong with the results are presented. Finally the thesis is concluded and the recommendations forfuture work are made on further improving the model.

Dynamic Modelling of a Fluidic Muscle with a Comparison of Hysteresis Approaches / Dynamisk Modellering av en Fluidisk Muskel med en Jämförelse av Hysteresmetoder

Antonsson, Tess January 2023 (has links)
n recent years, there has been a surge in interest and research into the utilisation of soft actuators within the field of robotics, driven by the novel capabilities of their inherently compliant material. One such actuator is the Pneumatic Artificial Muscle (PAM) which offers a high power-to-mass ratio, compliance, safety, and biological mimicry when compared to their traditional counterparts. However, because of their flexible and complex physical structure and the compressibility of air inside the PAM, they exhibit nonlinear dynamic behaviour, largely due to the influence of the hysteresis phenomenon. In order to implement strategies to counteract this effect, it first needs to be modelled. As such, this thesis investigates two approaches, namely the Maxwell-Slip (MS) and generalised Bouc-Wen (BW) models. Firstly, the test muscle's initial braid angle, maximum displacement, and maximum force are determined to establish the static force using a modified model. Data is then collected on the PAM's force-displacement hysteresis for 2-6 bar of pressure. Using the results from these experiments, the MS and BW model parameters are identified through optimisation. With the static and hysteresis force components characterised, two complete dynamic models are created. The findings show that, when compared to the collected force-displacement data, the BW model has greater accuracy for all pressures except at 4 bar, although both approaches demonstrate results within a satisfactory margin. Lastly, a model validation is conducted to compare the models using a new dataset, separate from the one on which they were trained. Data for this test is recorded at a pressure of 4 bar with a more complex reference that covers four different regions of the muscle's displacement range. Thereafter, both dynamic models are applied to assess their performance. It is evident from the results that the BW model produces a better outcome than the MS, achieving a normalised error of 5.3746% as compared to the latter's 12.835%. The higher accuracy of the generalised BoucWen method is likely due to it having a more complex structure, specialised parameters, and the ability to model asymmetric hysteresis. The Maxwell-Slip model may however still be preferable in some applications due to its relative simplicity and faster optimisation.

Analysis of Accuracy for Engine and Gearbox Sensors

Dogantimur, Erkan, Johnsson, Daniel January 2019 (has links)
This thesis provides a standardized method to measure accuracy for engine and gearbox sensors. Accuracy is defined by ISO 5725, which states that trueness and precision need to be known to provide a metric for accuracy. However, obtaining and processing the data required for this is not straight forward. In this thesis, a method is presented that consists of two main parts: data acquisition and data analysis. The data acquisition part shows how to connect all of the equipment used and how to sample and store all the raw data from the sensors. The data analysis part shows how to process that raw data into statistical data, such as trueness, repeatability and reproducibility for the sensors. Once repeatability and reproducibility are known, the total precision can be determined. Accuracy can then be obtained by using information from trueness and precision. Besides, this thesis shows that measurement error can be separated into error caused by the sensors and error caused by the measurand. This is useful information, because it can be used to assess which type of error is the greatest, whether or not it can be compensated for, and if it is economically viable to compensate for such error.  The results are then shown, where it is possible to gain information about the sensors’ performance from various graphs. Between Hall and inductive sensors, there were no superior winner, since they both have their strengths and weaknesses. The thesis ends by making recommendations on how to compensate for some of the errors, and how to improve upon the method to make it more automatic in the future.
