New Hagalund / Nya Hagalund

Björn, Johansson January 2015 (has links)
HAGALUND IS AN ACTIVE INDUSTRIAL AREA IN A CENTRAL LOCATION THAT IS FACING AN UNCERTAIN FUTURE. THE HIGH DEMANDS OF HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS IN THE STOCKHOLM REGION WILL MOST LIKELY TRANSFORM IT INTO A RESIDENTIAL AREA, FORCING THE EXISTING BUSINESSES TO MOVE OUT FROM THE CITY TO A PERIPHERAL LOCATION. THIS IS AN INVESTIGATION TO SEE IF THERE CAN BE AN ALTERNATIVE DEVELOPMENT. CAN THE AREA BE DEVELOPED WHILE AT THE SAME TIME KEEPING THE BUSINESSES? CAN THERE BE COEXISTENCE BETWEEN INDUSTRIES AND RESIDENTS?

Arkåsen, Emma January 2021 (has links)
Cities have been planned in different ways during their growth. From grid plans during the 17th century through 20th-century planning that resulted in quiet parts of the city that lacked life and vitality separated from workplaces. As the cities grew, the areas that were originally on the outskirts ended up closer to the city center. Old industrial areas are like wedges in the cityscape and by changing the use of the land there, new residential areas can emerge. The research today shows that an area with a mixed structure that contains housing, businesses, and a dense street structure is the way forward. In addition, there are great variations in the type of housing that can be constructed to create an area where people can thrive over time and move between different homes during different stages of life. The study investigates how an area in Västervik, in the study called Lärkstaden, can be planned for the citizens of the future. The idea covers an area of 97 000 square meters which today includes 12 properties, a plantation area, and green space. Today there is small-scale industry and trade. Some companies in the construction industry also have their premises in Lärkstaden and it is adjacent to residential buildings and green areas. By drawing up an idea for a new design, an investigation has been carried out showing which functions can be shared in Lärkstaden and how it would become sustainable in the long-term as it will have the required mixed structure mentioned above. The idea is anchored by previous research through a literature study. To gain a greater understanding of the area, visits have been made and people have been interviewed through experience and knowledge offer thoughts and ideas. /
Betyg 2021-06-04

Územní studie „Zbrojovka“ / Town planing study "Zbrojovka"

Kosíková, Martina January 2012 (has links)
Bc.Tomková Martina. Územní studie „Zbrojovka“. Brno, FAST 2012. The diploma thesis deals with the revitalization of the industrial area of the former Zbrojovka Brno Company. The area is close to the historical centre of Brno. The principal idea of the diploma thesis was to introduce new activities in the area while making use of the current area potential as well as to restore the economic balance and keep the genius loci of the area. The implementation of this idea has required building conversions in the area and the development of a new project the main idea of which is the university campus. The new project of the area benefits from the layout of buildings, especially the layout of large-capacity halls, the closeness of the city centre and the possibility of the railway connection. The whole conception is in compliance with the strategic development plan of Brno which comprises the issues of research, development, innovation and education. On campus there is an independent office building with integrated railway station, multimedia and sport centre as well as a municipal park. The area is open to and offers a wide range of services to general public. The diploma thesis includes the model of the area design.

TRANSFORMACE PRŮMYSLOVÉHO AREÁLU V PARTIZÁNSKÉM (SK) / TRANSFORMATION OF AN INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IN PARTIZÁNSKE (SK)

Krátka, Barbora January 2017 (has links)
The content of this diploma thesis is an urban study with the architectural details of the former Bata Industrial Park in Partizánske, and a particular conversion program for the building. My goal was to find a suitable concept for converting building no. 61 with respect to the city, to the people living in it, and to reintegrate into the life of a building that is empty today, unused and dilapidated. The goal was not to forcefully fill the functions of the building, but in successive steps and phases to find a solution how to reuse the building and to point to the factory as a element of the city's foundation and also to highlight the unique architecture of the Baťa period.

Participation within urban regeneration process : Exploring citizens visions of post-industrial area

Cvijovic, Marija January 2022 (has links)
With the more profound use of sustainable developments and degrowth ideas, new trends emerge where urban planners and architects are looking for already built areas that can be re-imaginedas vibrant parts of the city. Most often, those places are post-industrial sites, which are taking a new image and purpose. Multiple examples in European cities shows that those areas are becoming a new vital urban elements and fruitful grounds for implementation of environmentally protective design solutions. However, metamorphic developments of historically important parts of the cities are often susceptible to uninspiring generic design solutions that not necessarily always meet the current needs of citizens. Therefore, this research identifies how such post-industrial zones should be redeveloped with the use of citizens' visions to produce distinctive design solutions that can additionally incorporate sustainable ideas and develop a vibrant area. This research focuses on the post-industrial case in Osijek, Croatia, an old and abandoned Iron Foundry and Machine Factory (OLT). Constructed at the turn of the century (1912.), with its distinguishable architecture, it serves as an important image and industrial heritageof the city. Recently, Osijek Municipality has proposed a plan for its regeneration. Idea became widely appreciated as it was finally decided to somehow protect this valuable public good. However, as this research identifies, the municipal plan does not incorporate any means of citizen participation, nor it goes together with citizens mentioned needs - thus pursuing a plan for developing a generic design. Using qualitative methods, this research is addressing the importance of participation in such projects, as it can focus expertson the hidden meaning and character of the place, derived from citizens’ outputs. Additionally, this research shows that methods suchas participatory workshop, can generate ideas for design solutions that can benefit both current and future users of the place. Furthermore, it suggests that citizens, even though they are notexperts on the topic – can produce interesting and valuable information that can be used by planners and architects to fully utilise and transform the area with design solutions which can incorporate people’s needs.

OSTROV V OBŘANECH - AREÁL BÝVALÉ ESSLEROVY TEXTILNÍ TOVÁRNY / THE ISLAND IN OBŘANY - THE AREA OF THE FORMER ESSLER TEXTILE FACTORY

Vítková, Kateřina January 2019 (has links)
The aim of the thesis is to revive the former textile factory complex, which is located on a unique place - on the island between the river Svitava and the race. The main idea is to make the area accessible and to use its potential, focusing primarily on the link of history, identity of the place, quality public space and the functional content of the whole area. The concept of the whole work is the planning in time and the gradual phase of integrating brownfields back into the lives of not only local Brno citizens. The island in Obřany could thus become the heart of this city district, a meeting place with a rich cultural life, a space for relaxation, activities and leisure activities close to nature in a charming environment with a touch of Brno's industrial history.

Being Alone Together : Spatial investigations on ways to live with loneliness

Minami, Sonoka January 2023 (has links)
In modern society, loneliness is often talked about as an undesirable thing and something that should be eliminated, which makes it obvious that many people are suffering from it. Considering that the physical spaces we inhabit significantly shape our social interactions and relationships, this project aims to highlight the importance of spatial design in fostering connections with others beyond oneself. Specifically, the gaze is directed toward co-living. Slakthusområdet is a slaughter industrial area that is going to be developed from an industrial area into an urban district with lots of housing. On the site, I have examined how spatial design can create a lifestyle on our own initiative and feel a sense of belonging in a new environment. Through personal observations, this project explores a way of life that accepts loneliness and seeks to live with it. In this project, I call this way of living “Being alone together”. By using physical models as the primary medium, I proposed a housing complex that offers diverse forms of living spaces to accommodate all residents. This new approach to communal living holds the potential to unlock new possibilities of life, particularly for urban dwellers. Furthermore, it offers a fresh and unique solution in response to the housing challenges faced in Stockholm.

ZBROJOVKA BRNO / ZBROJOVKA FACTORY BRNO

Smejkalová, Veronika January 2014 (has links)
This diploma project deals with a post-industrial factory area Zbrojovka Brno. It proposes a strategy for its revitalisation and development. On contrary to official studies of one time reconstruction and creation of a residential site, the proposal brings an idea of step by step transformation into a multifunctional city quarter with preservation and new use of original industrial architecture. The strategy has four main phases, which are characterised by addition of functions, metamorphoses of public space and opening of the area and connecting it to neighbourhoods. After the four phases, the area should become a healthy and sustainable city with a compact structure with mixed functions, high quality public spaces linked with greenery, sustainable system of transportation and energetic concept and with use of community sharing.
