En verksamhet i den psykologiska och politiska ödeläggelsens landskap : En kritisk diskursanalys av biblioterapi i dags- och månadspress / An activity in the landscape of psychological and political devastation : A critical discourse analysis of bibliotherapy in daily and monthly press

Forslund, Anton, Gutafsson-Ahlzén, Johanna January 2020 (has links)
The concept of bibliotherapy is subject to different views of its meaning and potential place in the library. Through a critical discourse analytical approach, this thesis examines bibliotherapy in relation to a Swedish library context by analyzing Swedish articles from daily and monthly press, and relating the discourses identified in them to Zygmunt Bauman’s theory of late modernity. Using bibliotherapy and library as key concepts to analyze, seven different discourses are identified, the first four related to the concept of bibliotherapy and the three latter related to the norms, beliefs, and values of libraries: a curative discourse, a universal discourse, a discourse based on reading as a way of looking inward, one based on reading as a way of recognition, traditional library discourse, bibliotherapeutic library discourse, and crisis discourse. These discourses are related to each other as well as to the social structures of late modern society, and the role of bibliotherapy as a whole is examined in this context. Bibliotherapy emerges as a tendency in late modern society, interacting with aspects of it consisting of undermining of the welfare society, the construction of identity, and seeking of community and safety.

Det demokratiska biblioteket : en diskursanalys av demokratibegreppet i Biblioteksbladet 1996–2019 / The democratic library : a discourse analysis of the concept of democracy in Biblioteksbladet 1996–2019

Brobäck, Anna January 2020 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to examine how different perceptions of the public library’s democratic role are expressed in the library journal Biblioteksbladet during the years 1996–2019. The concept of democracy is understood as an ideological concept, used to legitimize an ideological stand. Thus, the study also aims to investigate what values the concept contains, as well as if these values are in conflict with each other. The theoretical and methodological framework are based on theories of discourse and democracy. The analysis identifies four discourses during the studied period – the participation discourse, the deliberative discourse, the including discourse and the democracy discourse. The first three discourses appear partly during the same time period, from the 1990s’ until the early 2010’s, when all discourses collide and give rise to a new discourse – the democracy discourse. The main finding is a discursive change in the debate where the concept of democracy previously aimed to legitimize a specific practice now aims to legitimize the whole library. Furthermore, the concept of demoracy has over time come to include more conflicting values that jointly aim to legitimize the library’s role in the democratic society regardless of context. The public library’s democratic mission can thus be understood as a discursive strategy.

Videoreferenser i vetenskaplig publicering : en undersökning av hänvisningar till YouTube-videor i vetenskapliga artiklar / Video citation in scientific publication : an analysis of referencing YouTube videos in research articles

Bourghardt, Pär January 2021 (has links)
This study aims to investigate and map references to online video resources in scientific publication and provide an overview of the relatively unexplored topic. Scientific articles containing references to videos uploaded on YouTube are examined and the methodology used to observe and describe video citation is influenced by previous research on citation analysis. This study uses a combination of context analysis and content analysis of the citations and their references. The location of video citation in the articles and the assessment of relevance indicates that referencing YouTube is meaningful for the scope of the citing articles and the most common purpose for citing uploaded video is to support and substantiate claims or assumptions. There are two key findings in the study. The first is the generated video citation, which is a unique type of citation only to be found when citing video. A generated citation is defined as a sort of self-citation, produced and uploaded by the author. In the case of generated citations, the author uses the multimodality and pedagogical properties of moving visuals to present their research. The other finding concerns the citation context and is the medium integral citation –a citation behavior where the type of medium with which the cited information is recorded, is mentioned within the citation context.

Inkludering på biblioteket : en användarstudie med HBTQ i fokus / Inclusiveness at the library : a user study with LGBT in focus

Christiansson, David, Wiklund, Steve January 2020 (has links)
The aim of the study was to find in what way people who identify as LGBTQ find themselves viewed and represented in Swedish libraries. The purpose was to reach the experiences of these individuals, and through a series of questions to find out how they experienced the work libraries did in regards to LGBTQ books and activities. A survey was sent out to people connected in some way to LGBTQ in order to get answers. After that the analysis was largely based around Judith Butler’s theories on heteronormativity and the matrix she constructed from these theories. The result showed that the respondents often did not feel represented at the libraries, and activities together with social media posts towards LGBTQ were seen as limited.

Skolbibliotekspersonal och skolledares samarbete i Malmö : Utifrån TLC-modellerna och styrdokumenten / School library staff and management’s collaboration in Malmö : From the TLC models and statutes

Gerstig, Katarina January 2021 (has links)
Research has shown that collaboration between school librarians and teachers is an important factor for the school library to be used as a tool to increase the learning capabilities of students. MontielOverall has created a theoretical model called Teacher-LibrarianCollaboration, shortened TLC. Montiel-Overall states that it is not only collaboration between school librarians and teachers that is important to reach higher TLC levels, school librarians also need the support from the administrative management team of the school. In my thesis, I have used the TLC model as a theoretical framework to look at the relationship between school library staffand school management. My research questions are: How do school library staff and school management in the elementary schools in the municipal of Malmö experience that collaboration functions between them? And: How can school library staff and school management’s collaboration in the elementary schools in the municipal of Malmö be understood when it comes to the four different facets in the TLC model? My method was a quantitative survey that was sent out to all school principals and school library staff in elementary schools in the municipal of Malmö. I then analysed the results within the TLC framework. The result showed that even though both school library staff and school management had a positive view on collaboration, in practice they did not fulfil all the facets of the TLC model.

Hittbarhet på e-handelswebbplatser inom sport och träning : En studie om en användbarhetsaspekt utifrån ett användarperspektiv / Findability on e-commerce websites in sport and exercise : A study of a usability aspect from a user perspective

Erlandsson, Alexander, Brodin, Emelie January 2021 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to investigate the findability and search function, focusing on e-commerce sports and training websites. The competitive situation within sports and training e-commerce companies has grown through the years. Prices and convenience drive the customers. Many companies have focused on re-design and updating their websites, creating modern websites with a lot of pictures and functions. Some websites lack in “focusing on users” because the users  do not know how to use the website or find it hard to navigate through. If the customer does not find what it is looking for it may choose another supplier. Using Fransson’s (2011) findability model as a theoretical framework, which is divided into four parts: information requirements, information competence, representation of object and findability. All four parts combine to what Fransson calls an information search process. The model was used to understand the findability aspects on sports and training websites. A comparative multi-method study with a qualitative approach by collecting data through interviews, card sorting and think aloud was performed. The method was used on five participants with varying internet habits, competences and ages. User involvement in development-processes within e-commerce is a vital factor to satisfy users and sell more products. However, it seems that e-commerce is ignoring user involvement since it is expensive and time-consuming. The results from this study emphasize the importance of user involvement and also show that layout, placement and labeling have a significant role to satisfy users from a usability design-perspective.

Att nå ökad användbarhet på webbplatser med heterogena målgrupper : en studie med fokus på användbarhetscentrerad webbutveckling / Achieving increased usability on websites having heterogeneous target groups : A study that focuses on web development with a user centred perspective

Gustafsson, Emma, Hallström, Amanda January 2021 (has links)
From a user-centred perspective, this study focuses on how to increase usability through design principles and usability aspects and how to achieve it on a website with a heterogeneous target group. This is a case study since a specific website has been chosen. We are focusing on usability regarding age and therefore we have chosen a website that holds a wide range of different users. The method for our qualitative research was made by interviews, and the results were analysed through a thematic analysis. We noticed that the main part of the respondents pointed out that the website lacks many different design principles and usability aspects in order to be considered useful. The result of the thematic analysis concludes the fact that Visibility, Constraints and Consistency are the most important design principles when developing websites for a heterogeneous target group. According to the thematic analysis, our respondents seem to think that the most important usability aspects are Satisfaction and Efficiency to accomplish good usability. Based on the analysis, we interpret those aspects and principles both are required to prior knowledge.

“Ååh, där öppnade sig paradisets portar.” : En kvalitativ intervjustudie av Storytelanvändares upplevelser och användning av ljudbokstjänsten / “Oh, there the gates of paradise open.” : A qualitative interview study of Storytel users’ experiences and use of the audiobook service

Gunnarsson, Ida, Thorstensson, Caroline January 2021 (has links)
The aim of this master’s thesis is to develop a deeper knowledge of a number of Storytel users’ experiences and use of the audiobook service. Furthermore, the study aims to analyze users' experiences and use of the audiobook service based on the concept of a digital library. Qualitative semi-structured interviews were conducted with eight Storytel users and the empirical material was analyzed using content analysis. The theoretical framework consists of the concept of a digital library based on the characterizing collaborative concepts “Community”, “Service”, “Collection” and “System”. The results show that the respondents’ motives for listening to audiobooks are technological or social. There are three types of audiobook listeners among the respondents regarding the situations in which they listen to audiobooks. Those who listen for large parts of the day, those who engage in other activities while listening, and one lone respondent who listens in the same way as reading printed books. The results also show that there is an interaction between the respondents' use of the audiobook service and the surrounding society, especially regarding audiobook selection. When searching for audiobooks the respondents search bibliographically based on various metadata, browse among the audiobook service's different categories or a combination of these. Also, being able to adjust the playback speed is an important function. The respondents’ descriptions can in several ways be related to the concept of a digital library. The applicability of the characteristic concepts Community, Service, Collection, and System works, though to various extent.
