Böcker, böcker, åter böcker : En diskursanalys av god skolbiblioteksverksamhet / Books, books, more books : A discourse analysis of Good School Library Practice

Källstrand Modig, Christina, Andersson, Emelie January 2020 (has links)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to create knowledge about how school librarians construct the image of their work in the school library on social media relating to the conception “Good School Library Practice” that is expressed on the Swedish Instagram account @skolbibliotekarierna (meaning the school librarians). The study uses both discourse and visual analysis to analyze the discourses connected to the main discourse “Good School Library Practice”. To do so the Instagram posts are divided into seven categories. Out of these categories six subdiscourses were found. By analyzing the posts in the different discourses the study answers the question what “Good School Library Practice” are during the period January to May in 2019 on the account @skolbibliotekarierna. The two major subdiscourses found are the Library Room and Teaching. The majority of the posts in the Library Room subdiscourse show pictures of book shelves and cozy furniture. The majority of the posts in the Teaching subdiscourse show projector images and tablets as well as students shown from behind. These two subdiscourses determine what is seen as Good School Library Practice. The result of the study show that there is a difference between how the discourse Good School Library Practice is manifested by the school librarians on Instagram and how it is presented in research, policy documents and curricula.

Biblioterapi i tidningsartiklar : En diskursanalys / Bibliotherapy in newspaper articles : A discourse analysis

Johansson, Petronella January 2021 (has links)
Mental health issues and depression is an everprevalent issue in our society today. Library science has taken a step towards creating a safe medium and addressing the issue by bibliotherapy, or therapy through reading. Though it is an establish method in other countries, bibliotherapy is not a common practise in Sweden and it is through recent years that reports about bibliotherapeutic projects has started appearing. The question that rises then is: how is bibliotherapy being written about by journalists and in the end, how is bibliotherapy, libraries and reading presented to the general public? This research aims to investigate in what way bibliotherapy is portrayed in newspaper articles, relationship between bibliotherapy and the library itself as well as what role reading has in the discourse about bibliotherapy in newspaper articles. To do this, a discourse method based on Laclau´s and Mouffes’s (Bergström & Boréus, 2012, Svensson 2019) linguistic approach to discourse analysis, will be utilized through the analysis of 18 newspaper articles. The result of this study shows a mostly positive view on bibliotherapy as a method and that reading is a key element in its utilization. Yet libraries’ roles in the bibliotherapeutic work is not as apparent and might affect readers’ views on the libraries’ involvement in societies work to prevent mental health issues.

Tillgänglighet på webben för personer med teckenspråk som förstaspråk : En studie om tillgänglighet på GOV.UK / Web accessibility for people with sign language as their first language : An accessibility study of GOV.UK

Höggren, Lina, Veschetti, Kajsa January 2021 (has links)
This study traverses the accessibility design of the British government’s website, GOV.UK and the current accessibility guidelines. It investigates the user needs of Deaf people with British Sign Language as their first language. The needs of the Deaf community are repeatedly forgotten or overlooked in society, including on the web. As many Deaf people are having difficulties understanding the English language as it is their second or sometimes third or fourth language, they face discrimination in many ways. This study examines the accessibility of information encircling Covid19 and Brexit on the government’s website by giving the participants a task to complete and evaluate. It fragments the necessary improvements to increase the accessibility and inclusiveness of the website. The study conducts interviews assisted by a qualified British Sign Language interpreter to make certain the participants can communicate their experiences and opinions. The collected data is analysed with respect to the four design principles the WCAG guidelines are based upon.

Läsning i bibliotekets gränsland : En kvalitativ innehållsanalys av nykterhetsrörelsens och biblioterapins syn på läsning i relation tillbiblioteksinstitutionen / Reading in the borderlands of the library : A qualitative content analysis of the reading perceptions of the sobriety movement and bibliotherapy in relation to the library institution

Hillberg, Kim January 2021 (has links)
The traditional library is in a state of crisis since its legitimacy was threatened by the declining status of the welfare state and the printed book medium. The study aims to regain a sense of the lost identity by comparing the institution's perceptions of reading with those of the sobriety movement of the early 20th century and the bibliotherapy representatives of today. Qualitative content analysis is used as a method to categorize and understand the reading perceptions of the reader communities mentioned above. The categories used are of a deductive character and distinguish whether the perception of reading is based on a conception of it as something characterized by the experience of the act or its instrumentality, as well as in reflective relation with the reader's self or not. The studied material is the membership newspaper of IOGT and a contemporary bibliotherapy blog. The results reached by the study point to other types of instrumentality used to legitimize reading by the reader communities, in contrast to the economic instrumentality which has gained influence in the library sphere. The social instrumentality of the bibliotherapy movement, characterized by social relations and integration, is uncovered in the materials. The role of the librarian supporting the reader's own knowledge acquirement is a feature that connects the contemporary librarian identity to bibliotherapy. The former now gains a language to express itself, something that has been missing since the identity crisis.

Att söka politisk information : En användarstudie av studenters informationsbeteende innan Brexit-omröstningen. / Seeking political information : Investigating students’ information behaviour leading up to the Brexit referendum.

Broström, Josefin January 2018 (has links)
The outcome of the Brexit referendum sparked a discussion in the media about ill-informed voters. There are few studies that investigate the information behaviour of voters, and even fewer of referendum voters. This thesis explores a small population of students at Scottish universities to gain insight in how they sought, received, and communicated information before the Brexit referendum. The aim is to investigate the students' information behaviour before they voted. Twenty-two students were interviewed, using a survey interviewing technique that also included open questions. The findings show that students were active, and interested, information seekers, but that they experienced a lack of quality information. Instead of trusting media sources, they turned to friends and family for information, although few changed their mind from their original conviction. The conclusions show that political awareness affected the information behaviour of the students, which is supported by Zaller’s Receive-Accept-Sample model, and that there was a high level of political awareness among the participants, in part because of the previous Scottish independence referendum. Wilson’s model of information behaviour was applied, and the analysis shows that intervening variables such as environment, role relations, and source characteristics affected information seeking, as well as other intervening variables like the lack of information and distrust of information sources.

The results shows that credibility can be expressed in several different ways. The credibility can increase when the blog is structured and when the sender is presented. Both Rymdbloggen and Väderleken present their sending government agencies in a clear way. Holmqvist, Sophie January 2019 (has links)
Corporate social responsibility is a concept that grows stronger in our society day by day. At the same time CSR has become a central part non-profit organizations. Svenska fotbollsförbundet wants to strengthen the picture of the association's social commitment by lifting their sustainability work. Based on a quantitative approach, this study aims to illustrate how non-profit soccer associations in Skåne works with corporate social responsibility and how they work from an economic, social and environmental sustainability perspective. Furthermore, the paper aims to create an understanding for the non-profit soccer associations view on sharing knowledge. The study is based on a web based questionnaires sent out to randomly selected soccer associations in Skåne to create an understanding of what the paper aims to illustrate. The result shows that soccer associations work with CSR and from an economic, social and environmental sustainability perspective without really knowing about it and that there is a lack of communication and knowledge sharing between the non-profit soccer associations and Riksidrottsförbundet and Svenska Fotbollsförbundet. Furthermore, the study shows that there is a desire to work more with issues from a sustainability perspective, but the soccer associations wants material and help to be able to distribute their time to maximise their work.
