Wallin, Henrik, Hiltunen, Markku January 2007 (has links)
<p>The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between gender and self reported symptoms (physiological and psychological) and sense of coherence (SOC) and Job Demand-Control-Social support (JDCS). The sample consisted of 360 respondents (nfemale= 261, nmale= 99), in the ages between 19-53 (M=25,57, SD=5,77), all students from Växjö University. A quantitative work method was used in the study; data was collected using questionnaires that consisted of self-reported questions, based on three parts: A modified symptom checklist, SOC 13 and a modified JDCS questionnaire. The result of our study showed that both SOC and JDCS had an effect on self-reported symptoms but there were no interaction between SOC and JDCS. No significant gender differences were found regarding the level of SOC. Female students reported symptoms in a significant higher extent than male students. There were no gender differences regarding JDCS. Our results are discussed in relation to previous studies. Our conclusion is that it is important to perform further research on students’ health and work environment.</p>

And job-related stress is a phenomenon in workplace and a problem in employee satisfaction management. Aim: How are decision-making latitude in terms of autonomy, as the need of knowledge worker, and his/her job-related stress related? How is knowledge worker autonomy affected by middle level manager’s authority? What is the mechanism between middle level manager’s leadership and knowledge worker’s stress? Definitions: Stress: the overall transactional process; Stressors: the events or properties of events (stimuli) that are encountered by individuals; Strain: the individual’s psychological, physical and behavioral responses to stressors; Outcomes: the consequences of strain at both the individual and the organizational levels. Completion &amp; Results: The mechanism among elements in and between knowledge worker and middle level manager is identified and presented.

Management Control Systems and Job Stressors : Identifying the mechanisms by which budget and KPI controls influence job stressors

Vilhelmsson, Lars-Erik, Fridlund, Eric January 2012 (has links)
This exploratory study explores how management control systems influence job stressors. More specifically, this study seeks to unravel the mechanisms by which budget and KPI controls influence job stressors. In our study we use the well-established Job Demand - Job Control - Job Support Model to compare previous research on job stressors with our case study. We interview Controllers and Managers at a manufacturing company within the industrial industry. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews and analysed through thematic content analysis. Our study discovers various combinations of how budget and KPI controls influence job stressors. We unravel four mechanisms by which budget and KPI controls influence job stressors. The identified mechanisms are Involvement, Comparability, Predictability, and Rationalization, in where involvement is shown to be most prominent.

Safety Climate, Safety Behaviours and Control: An Application of the Job Demand-Control model to Occupational Safety

Pearce, Megan Nicole January 2012 (has links)
While the literature surrounding the negative effects of stress on health and well-being is plentiful, there is a distinct lack of research applying stress frameworks to an organisational safety context. This study investigated the impact of stressors and strains on safety in the workplace, using the Job Demand-Control model as a research framework. In order to maintain a proactive approach to safety management, safety climate, safety compliance and safety participation were used as study variables as they have been established as antecedents to accidents and injuries in the workplace. From questionnaire data from employees with regular safety issues it was found that a positive relationship exists between safety climate and safety behaviours. Satisfaction was found to mediate the relationship between safety climate and one dimension of the safety compliance measure used. Providing support for the buffer hypothesis of the Job Demand-Control model, safety control moderated the relationship between safety climate and safety participation. Control over work scheduling, and decision latitude moderated the relationship between safety climate and safety participation but were indicative of an enhancing effect, rather than a buffering effect. The results suggest that control is an important variable to consider in terms of safety.

Bjurmell, Anna, Pousard, Annika January 2015 (has links)

Löthman, Camilla, Olofsson, Fredrica January 2020 (has links)

”DET SITTER KVAR I VÄGGARNA” : EN KVALITATIV STUDIE OM SOCIONOMERS UPPLEVELSER AV DISTANSARBETE / "It stays in the walls" : A qualitative study about social workers experiences of working from distance

Aldén, Julia, Olofsson, Felix, Larsson, Nikolina January 2021 (has links)

Operational manager’s perceptions and interventions for work-related stress concerning nurse assistants who work in elderly home care

Ahmadi, Soma January 2022 (has links)
Work-related stress can be recognized as a widespread phenomenon that influences individuals, organizations, and society. Stress and work-related stress are complex issues that involve and are influenced by different factors at different levels. This exploratory study aimed to get a deeper understanding of operational managers' perceived assumptions regarding work-related stress for nurse assistants who work in elderly home care in different municipalities. Additionally, this thesis attempted to identify the municipalities’ organizational and individual interventions and investigate how they evaluate the effectiveness of these interventions. Applying the qualitative method with deductive reasoning and using semi-structured interviews (N=5) resulted in two core categories “multiple dimensions of stress and stress interventions” and “lack of effective tools”. The operational managers expressed that there is continuous a challenge to getting more budget from government to implement more effective interventions, however, they claimed that individuals' lifestyles and situations can not be ignored. Moreover, analyzing respondents’ interviews indicated that there is a lack of effective tools to evaluate organizational effectiveness. Finally, according to all respondents, municipalities do not have regular leadership training for unit managers or healthy workshops for nurse assistants to promote healthy working conditions. This study highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in investigating work-related studies including political power relations and economic contexts.

Blom Bringlöv, Agnes January 2017 (has links)

Åsberg, Emelie, Grangien, Céline January 2024 (has links)
With the increasing mental health challenges, a growing demand for professional help can be seen. Despite their crucial role in society, the counseling profession is not sufficiently researched. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to examine counselors' ability to disconnect from work in their private lives in relation to workload. The study included 89 counselors, including 16 men, 72 women, and 1 identifying as other. The survey consisted of several background variables and two already well-developed measurement instruments, along with a self-created instrument. The analysis revealed that only the variable demand can explain 50% of the variation regarding spillover. The factors demand and control had the strongest correlation with the ability to disconnect from work. Furthermore, the analysis showed that women are more affected by work-related demand than men. Finally, the result demonstrated that a high level of health had a positive effect on spillover and the impact of the demand variable on the individual. The results allowed for further research, such as exploring the difference between 'old' and 'new' counselors.
