Tamis lyrique / Lyric sieve

Tenu, Claire 17 November 2016 (has links)
“ Lyricism is binding and unbinding names and bodies, playing in between all of the names and the bodies. Itsground is made of life and death together interweaved :a feast offering forms, deformations, transformations. Its material is the air, often unbreathable, its milieu is the image, invisible sometimes, its reality is the voice, almost inaudible.” The exhibition Tamis lyrique and the eponymous book present a group of works of art stemming from a lyric and speculative experience of photography, interbreeding diverse forms: tableau and montage, topographical characterization and filmic sequencing, writing and installation. Some of the works were produced during the doctoral thesis elaboration period, such as the photographs taken in Cherbourg, along with the book La ville que nous voyons, or the film L’air de l’accordéon, codirected with Fanny Béguery in Corrèze. Ten other various works are previously unseen. Some more works are older and were the subject of specific writings in the book Tamis lyrique, or enable to perceive variations or to appreciate a temporal density in the construction of the work.

The elegiac lyricism in Henri Duparc’s melodies : an approach of the "drama of the soul"

Plançon, Séverine 12 June 2015 (has links)
This dissertation highlights lyric and elegiac works in the corpus of seventeen melodies of Henri Duparc, through an analysis of the poetic and musical speeches. From the abstract point of view, the transfer of the notion of lyricism, from poetics to music, helps to build a representation of Duparc’s personal lyricism, that lays between the poetic lyricism and the possibilities of the musical structure. The first part of this study presents the various ways of lyricism through stylistic means of poetic lyricism (elevation of thought and repetition) and of musical lyricism (the idea of "violin-voice", the level of the voice, the rewriting of the works, the brevity, the bombast). The second part - the interpretative reading of the poetic texts – sheds lights on four elegiac situations, which are the more representative of the composer’s style. This prism reveals the Henri Duparc’s approach of composition: he works by themes, which he handles several times under different angles, to show the various emotional sides. Revealing Henri Duparc's dramatic ideas from his correspondence, the third part demonstrates that his melodies establish for this composer a laboratory of experiment of what he called himself the "drama of the soul", which he developed within the project of "La Roussalka", his unique operatic drama, unfinished then destroyed. These melodies highlight the limits of this musician writing skills regarding operatic drama, developed separate from action, without sequence of dramatic situations and without characters. At the end of this study, the melodies appear as the most accomplished shape in which Henri Duparc was proficient.

Analyse de mon langage musical à travers trois œuvres

Scalia, Giancarlo 04 1900 (has links)
This memoir is a musical analysis of my musical language through the study of three of my recent works that were composed between 2011 and 2013. It presents a detailed analysis of three compositions of varied instrumentation : - Akme, for solo piano - Les Yeux d’une fille dans un cimetière, for piano, violin, cello, flute and clarinette - Epitafe, for orchestra With musical examples taken from these works, I study various components of my approach to musical composition such as extra-musical influences, form, melody, harmony and orchestration. As introduction to these studies, we find a chapter that speaks of the role that extra-musical influences, form and musical time holds in my work as a composer in general.

Diotte, Carl 01 1900 (has links)
Pierre Morency’s trilogy Histoires naturelles du Nouveau Monde, a great attempt at describing America’s nature, finds its roots in an experience of the landscape, where a subjective conscience discovers itself while discovering at the same time the concrete world of nature. In this thesis, I will start by presenting how the poetry of Morency has evolved from a radically subjective lyricism, founded on the exploration of a fantasized inwardness, to a lyricism turned more towards the exterior reality and that privileges prose poetry, announcing the landscape experience that founds the trilogy Histoires naturelles du Nouveau Monde. Afterwards, I will analyse the different modes of application of this landscape experience, notably the particular relationship that the subject maintains with his environment, the setting of an art of seeing and living, and the writing of accounts that express this subjective adventure.

O gosto dos extremos: tensão e dualidade na poesia de João Cabral de Melo Neto, de \'Pedra do sono\' a \'Andando Sevilha\' / To get on well with extreme: tension and duality in João Cabral de Melo Neto\' s poetry, from \'Pedra do sono\' to \' Andando Sevilha\'

Oliveira, Waltencir Alves de 30 May 2008 (has links)
This research is the reading about João Cabral de Melo Neto work, from Pedra do Sono (Sleep\'s Stone) to Andando Sevilha (Walking Sevilla) , re-evaluating some considerations from his Critical Fortune. It is promoted a revision of some studies which defined the Cabral\'s poetics and which postulated that his logic of composing is attached to the segmentation of his poetry in two ways: the \"two waters\". It is considered that most of those studies, which were accomplished during the 1960\'s and 1980\'s, reinforce some propositions, such as the antilyricism in his poetry, without confronting the analytical categories to all his books, written after A Educação Pela Pedra (Education by Stone). It is presented, therefore, the analysis about the six books written by the author from Museu de Tudo (Museum of Everything) to Andando Sevilha (Walking Sevilla) which give to João Cabral whole poetry a new configuration. Starting from the analysis about the themes of love-lyricism and feminine and the inscription of auto-biography in his work, it is discussed the problematic of the division of Cabral\'s poetry in two perspectives and the unrollings which are consequences of this division.

To reach this aim, the following subject-problem guided us: How is the hybrid character configured in these romances? Has the conjunction of the lyrical with the narrative build in Dom Casmurro already find delineated in Ressureição? The theory base of this research is based in Questões de Literatura e de Estética: the theory of Mikhail Bakhtin's romance (1998), that treats of the aesthetic bases of the romance while gender and of its capacity to embrace other speech forms, just as the speech of lyrical modulation. The conception of lyrical romance leans on in the studies of Rosa Maria Goulart, entitled: Romance Lírico: Vergílio Ferreira's course (1990) and O trabalho da Prosa: Narratives, Rehearsals, Epistemography (1997). As conclusion, in Ressureição, the presence of the third-person narrator is responsible for the restriction of the lyricism to the micro structures and in Dom Casmurro, the presence of the first-person narrator opportune the lyrical expansion for whole the speech, characterizing the romance as lyrical. The lyrical slope apprehended in the two romances is configured because of: the hybrid, the registration, the subjectivity, the emotional intensification, the tension and darkness of the statements, having the negative and the irony as forms of contention of the sentimentalism / O objetivo desta dissertação é refletir sobre formas híbridas nos romances Ressurreição e Dom Casmurro de Machado de Assis, com o intuito de apreender uma vertente lírica na prosa romanesca machadiana.

Souza Silva, Patricia 29 November 2018 (has links)
A house is a privileged place for intimacy, offering distinct tones for everyone who looks at it. A Casa, by the contemporary Brazilian poet Heleno Godoy, is a collection of poems combining the material aspects of a house with an objective language. Privileging the concreteness of this space, the author proposes to the reader to build his own intimate place. It is a singular poetic experience because, starting from concrete images, the reader can abstract or distance himself from the hardness of everyday life to finally consider it under its poeticity. It is precisely the confrontation of the real house with poetry, which allows the reader to find himself in a house that is not outside, but inside himself. Indeed, it is a lyricism of reality. This study aims to present A Casa to the French-speaking public, bringing its exegesis as well as its first translation. To do this, the thesis is composed of two parts, plus a translation proposal of A Casa. The first part situates the author and the book in their contexts, then analyzes the chosen collection. The second part deals with the translation process of this collection, returning to the concepts of translation, poetic translation in particular, to try to specify a relationship between theory and practice. What follows is a detailed commentary on the difficulties encountered during the process of translating the work into its French version. Finally, the thesis makes a bilingual presentation of A Casa in its original Portuguese form and its French translation in its end.

"Theatre of the dancing language" : new possibilities in contemporary Australian playwrighting

Stewart, Lucy Claire January 2008 (has links)
This study focuses on trends in contemporary Australian playwrighting, discussing recent investigations into the playwrighting process. The study analyses the current state of this country’s playwrighting industry, with a particular focus on programming trends since 1998. It seeks to explore the implications of this current theatrical climate, in particular the types of work most commonly being favoured for production. It argues that Australian plays are under-represented (compared to non-Australian plays) on ‘mainstream’ stages and that audiences might benefit from more challenging modes of writing than the popular three-act realist play models. The thesis argues that ‘New Lyricism’ might fill this position of offering an innovative Australian playwrighting mode. New Lyricism is characterised by a set of common aesthetics, including a non-linear narrative structure, a poetic use of language and magic realism. Several Australian playwrights who have adopted this mode of writing are identified and their works examined. The author’s play Floodlands is presented as a case study and the author’s creative process is examined in light of the published critical discussions about experimental playwriting work.

[en] TRANSLATING POETRY: FACE-TO-FACE WITH HILDA HILST AND ADÍLIA LOPES / [pt] UM CORPO A CORPO COM A POESIA: TRADUZINDO HILDA HILST E ADÍLIA LOPES

BEATRIZ CABRAL BASTOS 08 October 2010 (has links)
[en] The objective of this dissertation is to offer English translations of poems by the Brazilian poet Hilda Hilst and the Portuguese poet Adília Lopes; and present theories and reflections on poetry and translation. The poems by Hilda Hilst are selected from a book titled Júbilo, Mémoria, Noviciado da Paixão (1974) Formal complexity, musicality and lyrical intensity are some of the most striking characteristics of these poems. They are the love poems of a woman-poet writing to her lover. To translate Adília Lopes we have chosen poems from Antologia (2002), a Brazilian edition composed of a selection from various books, and Le vitrail, La Nuit & A árvore cortada (2006). Some of the important aspects of Adília’s poetry are her melancholic humour, her expeditious rhythm and a language that is considered by many as colloquial and ordinary. Considering that a translation desires to reproduce the general effect of the original poem the translator’s reading should thus pay careful attention to its material effects such as those triggered by the presence of rhythm, sound and rhyme. The dissertation presents theoretical approaches to art and poetry that focus on the materiality of poetry (the concept of presence as developed by Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht is especially relevant to this discussion). It also examines the work of three intellectuals that not only develop theories about poetry translation but are themselves also translators: Henri Meschonnic, Haroldo de Campos and Paulo Henriques Britto. After establishing a theoretical and practical basis for the translation of poetry, chapters 3 and 4 present the translations themselves. Each poem is followed by a commentary in which the difficulties and choices of translation are discussed.
