The Country-of-Origin Effect in the Personal Care Market : A study on Swedish consumers’ perception of Chinese products

Title: The Country-of-Origin Effect in the Personal Care Market  Level: Final assignment for Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration Author: Simon Andersson and Gustaf Persson Supervisor: Jonas Kågström Date: 2019 – January Aim: The study aims to analyse Swedish consumers’ perceptions on the Country-of-Origin effects regarding Chinese products. Method: The study is based on a quantitative method. The data collection was done with a questionnaire with a deductive approach. The empirical data was collected through a web survey which was published on social media e.g. Facebook and LinkedIn. The data was then processed in the statistical program IBM SPSS Statistics (SPSS) to form models, figures and values. A descriptive-, correlation-, factor- and cluster-analysis was then formed. Result & Conclusion: The results showed how different variables correlate, different factors which the variables were grouped in and five different clusters of respondents. The conclusion is that there is a so-called COO-effect for Swedish consumers subconsciously. Furthermore, Swedish consumers are aware of the origin, but rank other quality and price as higher cues. Contribution of the thesis: This study aims, with help of previous research and a conducted survey, examine how Swedish consumer perceptions of Chinese personal care products regarding the COO-effect. Furthermore, it provides information on how Swedish consumers ranks certain cues. The study is unique since it provides insight on a market that has not yet been analysed with regard to the COO effect (Sweden) and with a certain product group where there is no current research available in relation to COOeffects. Furthermore, the study contributes to general COO-research, with certain implications deriving from previous research. There are both theoretical and practical contributions of importance, illustrating Swedish consumer perceptions of Chinese products. Suggestions for future research: This essay is limited to the Swedish market and focused on a particular product group. There are several other products groups that are yet to be researched in regard to COO-effects/consumer perception. Further research could compare two different product groups with high involvement to analyse the difference between certain product types. A comparison between two (or more) different countries would provide a vertical view of COO-effects, analysing the differences between different consumer perceptions and what cultural variables that may be vital for purchasing decisions. Dessutom ger den information om hur svenska konsumenter rankar olika variabler vid köp. Studien är unik eftersom den ger insikt om en marknad som ännu inte analyserats med avseende på COO-effekten och med en viss produktgrupp som det inte finns någon forskning om samband av COO-effekter. Studien kommer dessutom att bidra till generell COO-forskning, med vissa avvikelser som härrör från tidigare forskning. Det finns både teoretiska och praktiska bidrag av betydelse, som ger en inblick i svenska konsumenters uppfattning av kinesiska produkter. Förslag till fortsatt forskning: Den här uppsatsen avgränsar sig till den svenska marknaden och riktade in sig på en särskild produktgrupp. Det finns flera andra produktgrupper som ännu inte undersöks med avseende på COO-effekter och dess inverkan på konsumenters uppfattning. Framtida forskning kan jämföra två olika produktgrupper för att analysera de skillnader som finns/inte finns. Para tanto é apresentado referencial teórico em dois capítulos. Onde inicialmente, são discorridos os conceitos de design, aspectos referentes aos processos e modelos de projetos de design, para por fim descrever o processo característico dos projetos de moda sobmedida. Segue-se a abordagem conceitos relativos a conflito e negociação, importância da negociação e meios para a solução de conflitos. A investigação em caráter exploratório com abordagem qualitativa foi realizada por meio a entrevistas semiestruturadas, buscando a visão dos designers, que foram submetidas à Analise de Conteúdo. Após apresentação dos resultados obtidos, são dispostas as discussões ampliando os conhecimentos sobre a compreensão de como designers de moda agem ao enfrentar momentos de conflito junto a seus clientes em projetos exclusivos. A pesquisa contribuiu para a discussão do tema, bem como foi esclarecedora em relação à prática de projeto de moda envolvendo os clientes. / This dissertation presents a research about the negotiation in custom-made fashion design, having as obtectives to analyse the mechanisms used by designers to solve conflicts during the design prosses involving the participation of the client. For this purpose, the theoretical reference is presented in two chapters, where it is discussed the concepts of design, aspects related to processes of the designers and tools for conflict resolution. It was carried out the exploratory research with qualitative approach through semi-structured in-depth interviews, seeking the view of designers who were submitted to the Content Analysis. After the presentation of the results obtained, it is presented the discussions, increasing the knowledge on the understanding of how fashion designers act when facing moments of conflict with their clients in exclusive designs . The research not only contributed for the discussion of the theme but was also illustrative as to the practice of fashion design involving clients.

Empreendedorismo por oportunidade : objeto de aprendizagem com proposta metodológica, desenvolvida à luz da neurociência, para melhorar a performance na capacidade de identificar oportunidades de negócios

Esta pesquisa, propondo uma metodologia auxiliar para a disciplina de empreendedorismo originou-se de uma análise mais aprofundada ocorrida dentro da universidade, onde se questiona a falta de efetividade dos conteúdos programáticos e metodologias empregadas na educação empreendedora. De um modo geral as Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES), formam mais futuros empregados que empregadores. Várias instituições oferecem inúmeros cursos e disciplinas de empreendedorismo ou afins, mas continuam colocando no mercado cada vez mais jovens que irão competir à um posto de trabalho por não conseguirem ver o empreendedorismo como opção de carreira. Uma possível resposta estaria associada por fatores identificados em estudos recentes que afirmam que é de suma importância entender melhor como funciona o cérebro dos empreendedores para que se possa oferecer metodologias mais assertivas. Para muitos autores o processo de descoberta de oportunidades de negócios é uma das principais características do comportamento empreendedor e entender como este processo ocorre no cérebro dele abriria novas perspectivas. Esta pesquisa, desenvolvida a partir de dois experimentos, busca contribuir no âmbito universitário com uma proposta metodológica, desenvolvida à luz da neurociência, para a disciplina de Empreendedorismo. No primeiro experimento, denominado de teste piloto, com o objetivo de verificar possíveis padrões nos clusters neurais dos empreendedores, quando identificam uma oportunidade, foi realizado o Mapeamento Cognitivo Cerebral com o uso de eletroencefalograma em 14 indivíduos do sexo masculino, sendo sete “empreendedores estabelecidos” e sete não empreendedores. Os resultados dos testes mostraram que os mapas neurais dos empreendedores sugeriram que as áreas frontais direita e esquerda dos cérebros foram acionadas tanto no momento de descoberta de oportunidades quanto no momento de propensão a assumir riscos, enquanto os não empreendedores mostraram organizações neurais bem distintas durante os dois momentos. Este resultado aliado a outros estudos realizados por pesquisadores de empreendedorismo levou ao segundo experimento: o desenvolvimento de uma proposta metodológica auxiliar, que melhorasse a performance de alunos no processo de identificação de oportunidades de negócios. Esta proposta metodológica, cerne deste estudo, foi apresentada em um objeto de aprendizagem denominado: MADE-PERFIO, Módulo Auxiliar para Disciplina de Empreendedorismo-Performance na Identificação de Oportunidades, um curso de 40 horas, direcionado para melhorar a performance do aluno na identificação de oportunidades. A pesquisa sobre a efetividade da metodologia oferecida através do Módulo foi feita com 45 professores de graduações e de pós graduações e com 50 alunos de pós graduação de diversas faculdades e universidades maranhenses. Através de um curso de capacitação os professores puderam acessar o objeto de aprendizagem, testar a metodologia proposta e desenvolver suas performances cujos resultados foram extremamente encorajadores. Em média, os professores submetidos à nova metodologia melhoraram em 21% suas capacidades em identificarem oportunidades de negócios. Com relação à metodologia apresentada através do MADE-PERFIO, 45% classificaram com o conceito “ótimo” e 40% com o conceito “muito bom”. A metodologia foi apresentada aos alunos no formato de Módulo Auxiliar, pois todos declararam já ter tido contato com a disciplina de Empreendedorismo, mas ainda não haviam empreendido. A pesquisa com os alunos mostrou um acréscimo médio de 23% em suas capacidades de identificarem oportunidades e 65% deles classificaram como “excelente” a relevância do conteúdo. / This research, which proposes an auxiliary method for the entrepreneurship subject, was originated from a more deeply analysis made within the university, where it is argued about the lack of effectiveness in the program contents and methods used in the entrepreneurial education. In general, the higher level educational institutions (IES - Instituições de Ensino Superior) produce more future employees than employers. Several institutions may offer countless entrepreneurial and other related courses and subjects but continue increasingly placing in the labor market the youngsters who will try to find a job instead of starting some entrepreneurship as a career. A possible answer would be associated to factors identified in recent studies that claim to be of utmost importance to better understand how the entrepreneurs' brains work in order to offer more assertive methodologies. For many authors the process of business opportunities discovery is one of the main characteristics of the entrepreneur behavior and new perspectives could be open by understanding how this process works in the brain. The research, developed from two experiments, seeks to contribute in the university field with a methodological proposition to the subject of Entrepreneurship developed by the light of neuroscience. In the first experiment, called pilot test, which had the aim to check eventual standards in the entrepreneurs' neural clusters when they identify an opportunity, it was provided a Cognitive Brain Mapping by using electroencephalogram in 14 male individuals: seven were "established entrepreneurs" and seven were non-entrepreneurs. The test results showed that the entrepreneurs' neural maps suggested that the right front and the left front areas of the brain were set in motion both at the moment the opportunities were discovered and at the moment of taking risks, while non-entrepreneurs showed neural organizations much different in both moments. This result, combined to other studies made by entrepreneurship researchers, led to a second experiment: the development of an auxiliary methodological proposal that could improve the students' performance in the process of identification of business opportunities. This methodological proposal, main objective of this study, was presented in a learning issue called MADE-PERFIO, Módulo Auxiliar para Disciplina de Empeendedorismo-Performance na Identificação de Oportunidades (Auxiliary Module for the Entrepreneurship-Performance Subject to identify Opportunities), a 40-hour course designed to improve the student performance in the opportunities identification process. Research studies on the effectiveness of methodology offered through the Module was made with 45 graduation and post-graduation teachers and with 50 post-graduation students from several colleges and universities of Maranhão. Teachers, by means of a qualification course, had the chance to access the learning object, to test the proposed methodology and develop its performance whose results were thoroughly encouraging.Teachers submitted to the new technology improved in 21% their abilities in the business opportunity identification. With respect to the methodology presented through MADE-PERFIO, 45% considered the concept as "excellent" and 40% as "very good". The methodology was presented to the students in an Auxiliary Module format, since all of them pointed that they had contact with Entrepreneurship course but none had good understanding. Research studies with the students showed an average increase of 23% in their opportunities identification abilities and 65% considered "excellent" on the content of the material showed by MADE-PERFIO.

Este trabalho é o resultado da pesquisa lexicográfico-toponímica dos topônimos de cabeceiras, córregos, morros, ribeirões, rios, serras, vazantes, etc. registrados nos mapas e cartas topográficas dos 22 (vinte e dois) municípios que compõem a mesorregião Sudeste Mato-grossense. Os topônimos individualizam os acidentes físicos ou antrópicos, possibilitam uma localização específica dentro de um espaço geográfico amplo, concorrem para delimitar ou unir áreas em um determinado contexto territorial, seja ele, rural ou urbano e demonstram pela amplitude e variedade, extenso campo de estudo para a pesquisa lexicológica. O ato de denominar contribui para diferenciar e, até mesmo, para especificar algo ou alguém que de certo modo apresentava-se igual aos da mesma espécie. O estudo dos nomes próprios de lugares denomina-se Toponímia que é uma das subdivisões da Onomástica. O nome de lugar ou topônimo constitui-se, portanto, o principal objeto de estudo em uma pesquisa lexicográfico-toponímica e, muitas vezes, traz em seu bojo expressiva riqueza histórico-cultural. A conclusão desta pesquisa representa também a elaboração de mais uma etapa do Atlas Toponímico do Estado de Mato Grosso (ATEMT), vinculado ao Projeto ATB Atlas Toponímico do Brasil. As taxionomias de natureza física destacam-se dentre os topônimos pesquisados e constata-se expressivo registro de topônimos de etimologia bororo e tupi. / This study is a result fo a lexicographic-toponymic research of the headwaters, small tributary streams, hills, large streams, rivers, mountain ridges, low waters, etc. registered in the maps and topographic letters of the 22 (twenty-two) municipalities that are part of the Mato-grossense Southeastern mesoregion. The toponyms individualize the physical or human-caused accidents, make possible a specific localization within a wide geographic space, allow the delimitation or joining of areas in a certain territorial context, be it, rural or urban and show through wideness and variety, a vast study field for the lexicological research. The act of naming contributes to differentiate and, even, specify something or someone that in a certain way presented itself similar to those of the same species. The study of the proper names of places is called Toponymy which is one of the subdivisions of the Onomastics. The name of a place or toponymy is, therefore, the main object of study in a lexicographic-toponymic research and, many times, brings impressive historicalcultural wealth. The conclusion of this research also represents the elaboration of one more phase of the Toponymic Atlas of the State of Mato Grosso (ATEMT), linked to the ATB - Project Toponymic Atlas of Brazil. The taxonomies of a physical nature stand out among the researched toponyms and an expressive record of toponyms of bororo and tupi etymology is acknowledge.

As cidades do mundo, atualmente, abrigam mais da metade da população do planeta. A cidade de São Paulo possui a maior população urbana do continente sul americano, e está entre as cinco maiores cidades do mundo. A fim de organizar o espaço urbano com vistas ao desenvolvimento e controlar a construção das edificações para que mantenham condições aceitáveis de habitabilidade e segurança para si e para o seu entorno, a cidade de São Paulo vem criando leis urbanas, como Zoneamento de 1972 e de 2004, com o objetivo de ordenar o uso e a ocupação do solo, e os Códigos de Obras, como os de 1934, 1975 e 1992, que fixaram os parâmetros de construção das edificações. No entanto, grande parte de sua população constrói suas moradias de forma irregular ou clandestina, sem levar em conta as regras urbanas impostas por essas leis. Este trabalho irá investigar as causas dessa informalidade, em especial as habitações produzidas pela população de mais baixo poder aquisitivo, e procurará trazer soluções para o problema. / At the present moment in the cities of the world lives more than the half of the population of the planet. The city of São Paulo has the largest urban population of the South American continent, and is among the five largest cities in the world. In order to organize the urban space taking into account the development and to control the construction of buildings to maintain acceptable conditions of habitability and safety for the population and the environment, the city of São Paulo has issued laws such as Urban zoning of 1972 and 2004 to organize the use and utilization of the land, and the Building code, as the 1934, 1975 and 1992, to set parameters for construction of buildings. However, a lot of its population build their houses in a irregular or illegal manner, without taking into account the urban regulations imposed by these laws. This work investigates the causes of these irregularities, in particularly the houses build by the more poor population and tries to produce solutions to the problem.

As a result, it provides a contribution to the understanding of the current meaning of the dimensions of motivation when these vague semantic terms are present, as well as a contribution to the understanding of the reasoning interaction with other legal aspects of the civil procedure and constitutional rights and guarantees / O presente texto aborda o preenchimento de normas jurídicas com conteúdo semântico vago na decisão judicial como conteúdo da fundamentação dessas decisões, através de uma revisão da literatura jurídica e das ciências humanas. Assim, o trabalho trata de aspectos processuais e teóricos da fundamentação das decisões judiciais, tema que ganha relevo dentro do Estado Constitucional e da teoria do direito, com vistas a gerar controlabilidade dos atos jurisdicionais e legitimidade do exercício da jurisdição. 張湛《列子注》長久以來在學術界未受到重視,但是在整個魏晉玄學的發展史上(尤其是東晉玄學)實具有不可磨滅的價值,因此對於張湛的玄學思想應給予什麼樣的評價?張湛的「貴虛」思想與《列子》的「貴虛」究竟有什麼不同?他的理論是否可以名之為「貴虛論」?張湛的思想體系只是單純的雜揉各家的說法、還是又提出了一些新的命題及概念?這些都是在探討張湛思想所欲解決的問題。本文擬分為六章,以「貴虛」為理論核心,再探討相關的幾個重要的子題--言意觀、力命論、天道觀、聖人論等,將張湛的行為及思考模式作一時代的定位。本文各章重點如下:第一章緒論,先宏觀介紹東晉玄學的特色及《列子注》「貴虛」的意涵,並對張湛是否偽作《列子》疑案作一釐清。第二章言意觀,說明《列子注》言意之辨的內涵,從去知忘言的語言模式及名實與公私二方面論述。進而再探討張湛的思考脈絡及思維方式。第三章天道觀,探討有無之辨的思想背景及思想內涵,從道與的關係、萬有生化的情形、宇宙的生成三方面申說。第四章力命論,主要探討理與力命的關係及「為我」與「知命」觀念的矛盾與調和。第五章聖人之道,說明張湛「聖人」模式的內涵及儒道調和的意義,並進一步闡明張湛對於覺與夢的辨別及具體的修養之方。第六章結論,對張湛思想體系的檢討及評價。

本論文研究的動機,乃因於中國大陸自1978年改革開放後,經濟呈現高度成長,目前更是全球最大新興市場和製造工廠,工程塑膠材料的需求及市場亦隨著3C電子塑膠零件和汽車塑膠零件在中國大量製造而蓬勃發展。但是,中國地區還是有許多法律環境不健全且市場機制不成熟; 近來更因為勞工意識高漲及當地的政策改革,台商在大陸的生存壓力愈來愈大。本研究欲藉由個案公司一路從經銷、研發及經營兩岸與工廠業務的過程,藉此探討個案公司在經營兩岸業務時,是如何審視自身的能力與條件,以及外在環境的發展機會與威脅,依此根據制定一套可行的成長策略,以獲得一個良好的績效產出,期待協助個案公司整體營運績效的提升。除此,本研究亦期望經此個案研究,可提供學術探討與企業實務相關的參考,有助了解工程塑膠科技材料產業成長策略之實況、困難與相關因應之道。 本研究為促使文獻探討的內容,更具週延性; 所以,首先從工程塑膠材料產業發展面開始了解,繼而從擬定策略所需的策略觀點進行探討,最後再從企業成長策略的擬定作探討。 本研究為探索性的個案與文獻之研究,所採取的研究架構,以企業願景與定位及大陸的競爭方式為自變數,而以企業成長策略為應變數。而研究方法,主要採行文獻探討、個案研究與資料分析。 對於個案公司的分析,首先從個案公司的沿革與產品範圍進行說明,其次對個案公司營運與型態進行探討,再者對個案公司所處之競爭與地位進行分析,最後對個案公司如何因應未來進行分解與剖析。 所以,本研究提出對於個案公司未來成長策略擬定的建議,主要從成長方向與策略規劃兩方面提出: 1.成長方向的建議: 質感的創造、標準的符合、環保的落實、異業的 結盟。 2.策略規劃的建議:成本領導策略(水平整合,海外拓展,紅海)差異化策 略:(量身訂做,研發集中,藍海) 對於未來從事相關議題的研究,本研究建議可從研究資料的增加、研究方法的改進與研究方向的拓展,以促使本領域的研究更深入與完整。

Detection of Man-made Objects in Satellite Images

<p>In this report, the principles of man-made object detection in satellite images is investigated. An overview of terminology and of how the detection problem is usually solved today is given. A three level system to solve the detection problem is proposed. The main branches of this system handle road, and city detection respectively. To achieve data source flexibility, the Logical Sensor notion is used to model the low level system components. Three Logical Sensors have been implemented and tested on Landsat TM and SPOT XS scenes. These are: BDT (Background Discriminant Transformation) to construct a man-made object property field; Local-orientation for texture estimation and road tracking; Texture estimation using local variance and variance of local orientation. A gradient magnitude measure for road seed generation has also been tested.</p>

En studie i dyslektikers kommunikativa och känslomässiga interaktion med användandet av specialgjorda datorprogram : Genom forskning med användare/elever på en gymnasienivå och enligt specialpedagog/speciallärare

<p>Den här C-uppsatsen är en studie om dyslektikers kommunikativa interaktion med kompenserande specialgjorda datorprogram för träning i sitt användande av att skriva olika sorters texter. Ämnets olika nyckelord är det som är relevant för denna C-uppsats.</p><p> </p><p>Denna studies undersökningar har skett genom intervjuer med en speciallärare och en specialpedagog som är en form av experter på detta område och kan extra fakta om de olika eleverna (respondenterna). De har intervjuats för att få koll på vad de tycker och anser om specialgjorda datorprogram som jag undersökt. De har även fått svara på en enkät med liknande frågor som i intervjuerna. En annan metod som används för denna C-uppsats är en sorts semiotisk kvalitativ innehållsanalys för att påvisa hur de specialgjorda datorprogrammen ser ut.</p><p> </p><p>När det gäller en sorts avläsning till resultatet har den skett med en avläsning av Shannon & Weavers kommunikationsmodell fast till en egen modell samt via en kvalitativ analys som beskriver de specialgjorda datorprogrammens uppbyggnad.</p><p> </p><p>Den främsta slutsatsen som fram kom är att denna C-uppsats kommit fram användarnas/elevers och speciallärares och attityder och tankar kring sitt användande av dessa specialgjorda datorprogram som är <em>Oribi Spellright </em>och<em> Vital,</em> via den egna omgjorda Shannon & Weaver modellen.</p><p> </p><p>Denna C-uppsats är relevant inom det medie- och kommunikationsvetenskapliga området för den använder sig av Shannon & Weavers kommunikationsmodell samt en form av ett interaktionsmoment mellan människa och dator.</p> / <p>This paper essay is a study about dyslexia communications and interaction with compensating special made computer programs for training to write texts. This study has this kind of different keywords because they are relevant for this paper.</p><p> </p><p>The study’s different survey methods have been performed by interviewing two special teachers because they are experts on the subject and know a lot of facts about the pupils (the respondents). They also have been interviewed so I know what they mean and consider about the special made computer programs. They also have done a survey with similar questions like the interview. One other method I use for this paper essay is a kind of semiotic qualitative analysis about how the special made computer programs look like.</p><p> </p><p>About the reading to the result of this paper, it has been a reading with the Shannon and Weaver’s communication model but like an own kind of model and by a qualitative analyse of de special made computer programs to se how they works.</p><p> </p><p>The first conclusion that came up during the paper essay, are the users/pupils and special teachers attitude and thought about their uses with the special made computer programs that are <em>Oribi Spellright </em>and <em>Vital.</em> By read it of an own kind of model that are similar with the Shannon & Weaver model.</p><p> </p><p>This paper essay has relevance in the media and communication studies because it uses the Shannon and Weaver’s communication model, by a kind of interaction.</p>
