Sensitivity Relations and Regularity of Solutions of HJB Equations arising in Optimal Control / Relations de sensibilité et régularité des solutions d'une classe d'équations d'HJB en controle optimal

Scarinci, Teresa 30 November 2015 (has links)
This dissertation investigates a class of Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations arising in optimal control of O.D.E.. We mainly focus on the sensitivity analysis of the optimal value function associated with the underlying control problems. In the literature, sensitivity relations provide a measure of the robustness of optimal control strategies with respect to variations of the state variable. This is a central tool in applied control, since it allows to study the effects that approximations of the inputs of the system may produce on the optimal policies. In this thesis, we deal whit problems in the Mayer or in the minimum time form. We assume that the dynamic is described by a differential inclusion, in order to allow data to be nonsmooth and to embrace a large area of concrete applications. Nevertheless, this task makes our analysis more challenging. Our main contribution is twofold. We first extend some classical results on sensitivity analysis to the field of nonparameterized problems. These relations take the form of inclusions of the co-state, featuring in the Pontryagin maximum principle, into suitable gradients of the value function evaluated along optimal trajectories. Furthermore, we develop new second-order sensitivity relations involving suitable second order approximations of the optimal value function. Besides being of intrinsic interest, this analysis leads to new consequences regarding the propagation of both pointwise and local regularity of the optimal value functions along optimal trajectories. As applications, we also provide refined necessary optimality conditions for some class of differential inclusions.

"En bild säger mer än tusen ord" : Hur tre olika skönlitterärt uppbyggda läroböcker utformat bildstöd för årskurs 1. / "A picture is worth a thousand words" : How three different fiction-based textbooks designed visual support for year 1.

Simonsson, Kim, Kraaijenbrink, Elin January 2020 (has links)
Studien tar avstamp i Richard E. Mayers (2014) teori om multimodal inlärning: Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning.

El uso de estrategias multimediales en seis vídeos educativos de YouTube para estudiantes de español como lengua extranjera / The Use of Multimedia Strategies in Six Educational Videos for Students of Spanish as a Foreign Language

Söderlöv, Erik January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this essay is to study the multimedia strategies in six different educational videos on YouTube that are made for learners of Spanish as a foreign language. To this end, the study focuses on the cognitive theory of multimedia learning (CTML) and ten principles postulated by Mayer (2008) that serve to improve the design of multimedia instructional messages, for example in educational videos. Based on the research questions, the purpose is to find out if the videos follow the principles in accordance with the CTML and if different strategies can be used to comply with each principle. The methodology is qualitative and consists of interpretative analysis of the videos and specific situations. The observations show that the videos do not follow all the principles and that none of the videos comply with the principles of redundancy and modality, since they all contain added text. Likewise, the study verifies that it is possible to put into practice several strategies to implement each principle. Regarding future studies, it is suggested that research on how those strategies affect learners in a formal context, that is, in the classroom, are carried out.

Vliv senzomotorické stimulace na plochonoží u dětí předškolního věku / Influence of sensomotoric stimulation on flat foot in preschool-aged children

Řehůřková, Markéta January 2012 (has links)
Title: The effect of sensomotoric stimulation on flat foot of children Introduction: Flat foot is a common health problem in childhood. Its development is related to congenital or acquired dysfunction of the plantar vault. There is no single opinion on the criteria for diagnosis and therapy forms. The aftereffects and health risks of flat foot are often neglected. The therapy form of sensomotoric stimulation, including balance exercises and walking barefoot over different surfaces, could be an appropriate part of the physical activities and games for children in kindergarten. Objectives: The main objective of this thesis was to compare foot prints of a group of children from one kindergarten class before and after six months of sensomotoric stimulation by three different methods (the Chippaux-Šmiřák method, the Godunov-Sztriter method and the Mayer method.). The second objective was to determine at what age category will be the highest prevalence of flat feet and also at what age group is the biggest improvement of the foot arch. The third objective was to compare each other method and determine whether the results will match. Hypothesis 1: After six months of sensomotoric stimulation of the feet of children occurs in the majority of feet of probands the improvement of the longitudinal foot arch...

Profondeur, dimension et résolutions en algèbre commutative : quelques aspects effectifs / Depth, dimension and resolutions in commutative algebra : some effective aspects

Tête, Claire 21 October 2014 (has links)
This Commutative Algebra thesis focuses mainly on the depth theory. We try to provide an approach without noetherian hypothesis in order to escape prime ideals and to handle only basic and explicit concepts. We study the algebraic complexes of Koszul and Cech and their cohomological properties by using simple results on the cohomology of the totalization of a bicomplex. In the Cech cohomology context we established the long exact sequence of Mayer-Vietoris only with a treatment based on the elements. Another important concept is that of Krull dimension. Its characterization in terms of monoids allows us to show expeditiously the vanishing Grothendieck theorem in Cech cohomology. We also provide an algorithm to complete a omogeneous polynomial in a h.s.o.p.. The depth is closely related to the theory of finite free/projective resolutions. We report a generalization of the Ferrand-Vasconcelos theorem due to Jouanolou. In addition, we review some results involving the depth of the ideals of expected ranks in a finite free resolution. We revisit, in a particular case, a construction due to Tate. This allows us to give an effective projective resolution of the ideal of a point of a smooth hypersurface. Finally, we discuss the regularity theory in dimension 1 by studying invertible ideals and provide an algorithm implemented in Magma computing the ring of integers of a number field.

Basson, Eunice L. 30 June 2003 (has links)
Text in Afrikaans / This thesis entitled The contribution of Erich Mayer towards the establishment of an aesthetic consciousness and the promotion of an art identity in South Africa to the end of the 1930s, is a study of the ideas, ideals and contributions of the German-Jewish artist Erich Mayer concerning the establishment of a national art identity in South Africa. Mayer was born in Germany in 1876. Because of ill health he came to South Africa, where he settled in 1898 and developed an affinity with the Afrikaner pioneers in the rural areas. This natural connection with the Afrikaner pioneers was the main motivation behind his participation in the Anglo-Boer War. With his sound European background and training at various art academies in Berlin and Stuttgart, he soon realised that a knowledge of European art history or any awareness of an aesthetic consciousness concerning the fine and applied arts was sadly lacking within the general South African community and more specifically amongst the early Afrikaners. As a student, Mayer developed a keen interest in traditional German arts and crafts, which, according to him, contributed to the specific national Germanic character. This interest prompted him to conduct research and document examples of folk art among the Afrikaners as well as other indigenous communities, in an attempt to establish an aesthetic awareness in South Africans, and more specifically among Afrikaners. Mayer was of the opinion that the development and marketing of these cultural objects and artefacts would contribute towards a unique art identity with a strong South African national character. Apart from his interests in the fine and applied arts, Mayer also researched the vernacular architecture, furniture design and household articles of both Afrikaner pioneers and Africans. He travelled widely in South Africa, researching his interests and presented lectures on these themes which he published in newspapers and magazines in an effort to create an awareness of the rich indigenous folk art. Mayer is in 1876 in Duitsland gebore. / History / D. Defining the boundaries between trait emotional intelligence and ability emotional intelligence : an assessment of the relationship between emotional intelligence and cognitive thinking styles within the occupational environment

Murphy, Angela 11 1900 (has links)
Emotional intelligence has attracted a considerable amount of attention over the past few years specifically with regard to the nature of the underlying construct and the reliability and validity of the psychometric tools used to measure the construct. The present study explored the reliability and validity of a trait measure of EI in relation to an ability measure in order to determine whether the tools can be considered as measuring conceptually valid constructs within an occupational environment. The study also examined the overlap with a trait measure of cognitive thinking styles to determine the potential for separating the trait and ability EI into two unique and distinguishable constructs. Participants included 308 employees from four different workforces within a diverse South African consulting firm. The results of the study identified a number of psychometric concerns regarding the structural fidelity of the instruments as well as concerns about the cultural bias evident in both measurement instruments. Evidence for the discriminant and incremental validity of the two instruments was, however, provided and recommendations are made for the reconceptualisation of trait EI as an emotional competence and ability EI as an emotional intelligence. / Psychology / D.
