This study is a research about the appropriation of manga culture through strategic design. It set out to understand the strategic design, metadesign and manga culture, as well as the pontencial of methodology of strategic design. For the development of contextual research was chosen as a bottom line, an organization that had in its structure a design department and a product whose inspiration for its creation was the manga. Therefore, elected Maurício de Sousa Productions (MSP), the magazine Young Monica's Gang (YMG) and its products for analysis. After this analysis we sought to understand through in-depth interviews, as the manga reader with the manga culture and appropriated it, as investigated through focus groups as the nikkei, and Japanese descendants living in Brazil, incorporated Brazilian culture. In the context of design research has developed a design studio, in which techniques and tools utilized as the sensitization, the mood board, and the scenarios to developing concept for a project of strategic design. By combining contextual and projectual design research, had the purpose is to strengthen the relationship Product-Service-System (PSS), and explore manga culture values beyond its visuality, such as collectivization, respect and others.

The interventions of designers who, as consultants, interact with communities of artisans to qualify handicraft production and reposition it in the consumer market, are popular in Brazil - because of their potential to generate economic and social development for such communities. These interactions are investigated here through a strategic design's perspective, aiming at value creation through processes that involve multiple actors in the development of solutions. The objective of this research is to propose strategic paths for the qualification of design consultancies for handicraft communities, aiming to promote co-design processes that contribute to the community's greater autonomy in relation to the institutions that promote these interventions. As part of an exploratory investigation, three case studies are conducted, involving communities of artisans where designers helped to develop artifacts. The development paths and the artifact creation process of these groups are analyzed, leading to the description of a designing environment where the organizational structure and the relationships between participants have an influence on the designers work and the continuity of the project; and the introjection of the consultant's skills, and the strengthening of the community's value network contribute towards the artisan's autonomy. Four central propositions are therefore defined: 1) the role of the designer as a qualification agent in design culture; 2) the creation of a co-design space which conducts to an immersive experience while promoting interpersonal relationships and collaborative design; 3) the facilitation of the co-creation process and qualification of artisans through instruments that combine research on a metadesign level and the development of interpersonal relations; 4) the strengthening of the groups value network through horizontal intergroup collaborations.

The collaborative practices, contemporary times characteristic, are increasingly present in the workplace. This happen due the fact it's interactive character in the fusion of values and results between different actors involved in a network of cooperation for joint problem solving. Thus, the research that follows aims to reflect on the creative clusters, collaborative environments in order to create opportunities creativity, collaboration, exchange of experience, proposing a specific study on the informal spaces of collaboration. The study aims to analyze the strategic role of the designer in informal creative clusters, trying to understand if there is the use of metadesign and if so, if the use of this methodological approach generates contributions in informal settings. The research applied a single case study, in Casa Liberdade, informal creative cluster whose context presented an open and independented model. As data collection instruments, interviews were conducted and cluster documents were gathered. The research’s main contribution it is to promote reflections on the informality advantages in the collaborative context, proposing new ways of thinking design and the designer in collaborative and informal atmosphere.

Gordon, Lucas 22 July 2014 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 119040.pdf: 15039381 bytes, checksum: 3b2f8b83fee7c0e69dc7bcc1aa1a41ed (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-07-22 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The present study begins in the projecting issue, addressing concepts of knowledge building, specifically about projects related to communication interfaces. The starting point and motivation of the study lies in the perception of a frequent gap between audience, interface building theory and design practice. It is suggested that modern projective practices must break with the static paradigms from the past, joining new forms and practices, suggesting content curation in the world wide web. Raising points of convergence between: web content curating, interface design and "design design" (the metaproject) in creating up to date projecting practices, the work raises a discussion proposing the application of the possibilities that the so-called "new economy" brings to the intense routine of referencing that nowadays constitutes the designer praxis. Thus, the theoretical framework focuses on cognitive ergonomics in design practice, the meta-project, the communication design, semiotics, curating content and finally branding.

Arquitetura livre: complexidade, metadesign e ciência nômade / Free architecture: complexity, metadesign and nomad science

Caio Adorno Vassão 18 April 2008 (has links)
We describe the context of ubiquitous computing as related to the computers popularization and its presence in the urban environment and in industrial products of mass consumption. We describe and analyze the main feature of this context: its complexity. As a first attempt at dealing with the design of complexity, we recall a design approach known as Metadesign, which derived from the formalist approach of the Ulm School of Design. We propose an update of this method regarding four main characteristics: levels of abstraction, procedural design, emergent properties and topology. We criticize this first attempt based on Metadesign, and we propose an option, what we call Arquitetura Livre, which questions established design procedures exactly on what they have in common with the formalism identified in Metadesign. Arquitetura Livre is based on appropriations from Post-structuralism, Phenomenology, Media Ecology and Free Software, seeking a design approach that is non-deterministic and non-instrumental with regard to complexity.

JAG ÄR DU : (du är jag) / I am you : (you are me)

Ireland, Leah January 2021 (has links)
Through critical urban spatial intervention and close attention to multispecies relationality, this project report documents the designerly exploration of a ‘plats-specifik’ (place-specific) ontology of becoming through polyvocal authorship, sticking with the trouble of anthropocentric urban development and temporalities of change. ‘JAG ÄR DU’ is a triad composition of trellises that grow scarlet runner beans, giving an architectural frame for the beans to grow into a hybrid typography and co-authored speculative poetics. Two metres tall and one and a half meters wide, each letter is built with vestigial matters of the past and present. Placed in a newly regenerated meadow in the northern parts of central Växjö, the intervention invites curiosity, reflection and abundant meetings between diverse thought worlds, species and generations of inhabitants. As a ‘plats-specifik’ project, this work demonstrates ways to make collective, public, and critical connections to placeness; the thick, implicated and multisensorial. It is to intervene in capatriarchalonialist (capitalist, patriarchal and colonialist ideological) politics of urban space, and to offer an alternative imaginary to the ways we see ourselves participating in the performing and making of multispecies publics.

Fertile Wear : Underwear in relation to manufacturing toxicity, the ecosphere and our reproductive zones

Nivrén, Linnéa January 2021 (has links)
Every artifact in this consumerism world is connected to Earth’s four ecological layers. Everything around us, air, organism, water, and soil/rock also known by the names; atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere. All together form the ecosphere, the place that contains all materials and resources that we use when creating artifacts.  »Every material that we use comes from the ecosphere and eventually goes back to it.« - Ann Thorpe The way humans use, extract, manufacture and dispose of materials has concerned me for many years, long before I started this design program. It has formed my way of making as a designer, and because of my love for textiles, I have been applying it in that field of practise. I want to design textiles that function and can be used frequently, with a purpose and in the end, decompose before I do. The aim of this conducted design project is to, in a playful way, break down the barrier between maker and user. Combined with unfolding the hidden truths about garments, how they are manufactured and where those textile components originate from. This would enable me to broaden my knowledge in the field and in return I will have the opportunity to share my insights with the public. Within this project I will also put the emphasis on the impact textiles have on our bodies, reproductive health and surrounding ecosystems.  Designing with the intention to highlight topics like this, the whole life cycle of garments, creates a stronger bond between user and maker. This is something I as a designer and maker want to build my foundation on.  In order to do this I needed to pin down where this conducted design project could take place and what sustainable possibilities of change it could embed for the future.

Syrians of The Diaspora : Seeding and harvesting the design of a book and a manifesto

Fahd, Ahmad, Bsirini, George January 2021 (has links)
This project proposes and uses co-creation design methods, a design approach based on allowing users to play a design role; by creating a project. The design process comprises design specialists and participants from various specialties and ages, then finding common ground and interests to develop a future work plan. Collective creation designers can provide tools and workshops to support and develop a fledgling community initiative that works within design and change. After the Syrians were exposed to a movement towards world countries, forming a diaspora condition within their families and host societies. This project was implemented in January 2021, with two collaborating students of the Bachelor of Design + Change at Linnaeus International University in Sweden, titled ‘’Syrians of The Diaspora’’. The project deals with collective creation in addressing issues to which immigrants are exposed, several issues that cause feelings of despair, and loss of creative value, influenced by their neglected skills and life experiences. To create a ‘’vocational cultural knowledgeable club’’ in the host country that employs their skills and presents them to the host community, facilitating integration plans.
