In the presence of water SDAg undergoes a partial hydrolysis with formation of free sulfadiazine and silver, which has been previously shown to be photoreactive. This work presents as main objective evaluated the microbiological activity of SDAg associated with nanocapsules prepared from poly( -caprolactone), using capric and caprylic acid triglycerides and butyleneglicol cocoate as oily phase. The suspensions were prepared by interfacial deposition of pre-formed polymer and were characterized in term of SDAg contents, associated drug within the nanoparticles, pH, mean size of particles and zeta potentials of nanocapsules with SDAg, and evaluated the influence of the types of oils (capric and caprylic acid triglycerides and butyleneglicol cocoato) on nanocapsules physico-chemical caracterization. The microbial activity of SDAg nanocapsules were analyzed against microorganism Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 27853) by the method of agar diffusion. The dosage technique of SDAg in HPLC was validated in all analyzed parameters and the results obtained met the specifications for linearity, precision, and accuracy. The suspension containing capric and caprylic acid triglycerides presented average size of 225 nm (±1,71), zeta potential of – 26 mV (±1,09) and pH values of 5,6. This sample showed an 100 % of drug entrapment. The values size particle of the suspension containing butyleneglicol cocoato was 221,4 nm (±2,3), zeta potential of – 27,9 mV (±1,7) and pH 5,7. Suspension with miglyol® SDAg contents were 77 % and 97,96%, determined by HPLC and microbiological assay, respectively, being higher when compared with suspension butyleneglicol cocoato, 38,5 % e 87,26 % demonstrating that the extraction of SDAg used is more efficient for the nanocapsules suspension with capric and caprylic acid triglycerides as oil core. Through the results, it is possible to conclude that the silver sulfadiazine nanocapsule suspensions are an alternative for the corporation in topical formulations.

The aim is to address theatrical methods allowing to articulate between the present and past tenses, so that the students can be the main figure of their own learning. The reason for this study was the use of theatrical methods in the classroom and the desire to report the constant work of teachers using theatrical methods in the classrooms with teenagers in elementary school. However, at the same time that it reflects a real experience, discussing concepts of Historical consciousness, memories and the theatrical methodology itself, this study elaborates a pedagogic proposal with the theatrical methodology in history classes trying to relate and reflect about the roll of History and the meaning of the use of theatrical methods in the process of knowledge construction, articulating the memories of teachers and students. I defend that using theatrical methods it is possible to accomplish interdisciplinary work between two or more subjects, which implies a direct intervention in school dynamics, where it becomes a reality. Thus, this study ponders about History teaching, pointing out challenges and possibilities that the use of theatrical methods as teaching and learning methodology provides, defending its use along with my own experience as inspiration to other teaching professionals. I believe that a studies as this one are an effective commitment to History teaching and its subjects, for its results should assist and extend the teachers formation, showing new ways to teach, which, in my point of view, can help to enforce professional and affection ties between teachers and students.

O pluralismo metodológico no ensino de Física e o aprimoramento da argumentação científica dos alunos / The methodological pluralism in Physics teaching and the student\'s improvement in scientific argumentation

Idmaura Calderaro Martins Galvão 13 November 2015 (has links)
In this research we investigate if the use of methodological pluralism in Physics classes can contribute to the improvement of the student\'s cientific argumentation. The activities were conducted with students of the third grade of secondary education at a school in the state of São Paulo. In the research\'s development was used, in the classroom, varied teaching methodologies: experimental and demonstration activities, activities using information and communication technology and projects such as problem solving strategy. The data collection was done through four focus groups and by the student\'s presentations of the project, in order to investigate their arguments about physical concepts studied by the methods mentioned above. For the initial structure analysis of the students\' argumentation we gave emphasis to the constituent elements of the standard Toulmin. Our results show evidence of student\'s improvement in scientific argumentation. Using these data we concluded that the use of methodological pluralism, with the process of social interaction, facilitates the development of scientific argument and it is an alternative that contributes to the formation of more reflective and participatory students in the teaching and learning of Physics.

Le patrimoine des Avignonnais : la construction du caractère patrimonial de la ville par ses habitants / The heritage of the Inhabitants of Avignon : the construction of the patrimonial character of the city by its inhabitants

Watremez, Anne 01 December 2009 (has links)
The thesis wishes to understand how the inhabitants of a city build a relationship with the heritage within their city. How do they regard the elements of the city as being patrimonial? An inhabitant is a practitioner of the city and the practice which he/she has is the essential component in the comprehension of his/her relationship with the heritage. Two methodological devices of narration were used: itinerant interviews and focus groups, which produced the discourses in this research. The first device has, as its objective, to make the interviewees speak and walk about in the space of the city in order to find him/herself in the daily situation of a typical inhabitant, and to allow interviewees to show and describe the places where they have built build a relationship with the heritage. The second device has intends to meet with interviewees again in order to specify the characteristics which constitute the link that they have with their heritage. For the whole of the analysis developed, we explore the process of construction of meaning in the relationship built by the inhabitants with what they regard as their heritage. Interviewees are asked to speak about the discourses that they themselves developed during there itinerant interviews. This is why we speak about “sémiodiscursive” analysis of the corpora, we seek to understand the process of the meaning in the relationship with the heritage from a semiotic point of view by studying the discourses which build it. Throughout the thesis, the analysis has two levels: an analysis of content allowing to recognize on the one hand the places where the relationship is built, and, on the other hand the qualificative attributions at work. Then, a semiotic analysis studies the way in which the meaning of these relations to the heritage is built. We propose that, in order to understand the meaning of the relationship with heritage, we need to work with the various operations of construction of meaning witch are mixed up in the corpora, and witch we study separately in the analysis

Dons, parentés et représentations sociales / Relatedness, gift-giving relationships and social representations

Doumergue, Marjolaine 29 November 2016 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the representational systems involved in family building through sperm donation. Drawing on psychosocial theories, it investigates the logic behind these systems and their efficacy in social practices. Specifically, we explore how anthropological issues to do with kinship/relatedness and giving-receiving relationships are transformed into common sense knowledge in the case of sperm donation. This issue is considered using a sociogenetic approach, through the lens of social representations theory. Adopting this theoretical perspective allowed us to trace the elements and milestones of the processes of symbolic coping at play among those whose task is to institutionalise these practices, and among those who experience them.We developed a research programme organised according to principles of method triangulation, hence conducting multi-level studies of representational phenomena. Owing to our scientific partnership with the French federation of CECOS (certified clinics), we conducted quantitative and qualitative research (interviews and focus groups) with parents who conceived their children using sperm donation. A further aspect of our research was based upon an analysis of parliamentary debates regarding the 2011 revision to bioethics legislation in France. Our findings indicated the significance of representational systems for meaning making about parenthood through sperm donation. Specifically, the representational fields of parliamentary players were shown to be organised by tensions between fundamental categories of thought (themata). We found similarities between parental and parliamentary logics that both favoured anonymity, but no relationship between parents’ disclosure decisions and donor anonymity. We did however observe that parents make sense of sperm donation through a shared - yet negotiated - representational project anchored in a rather traditional family model. This project was found to be enacted paradoxically by a set of significant practices (disclosure strategies; egg donation) that constitute representational actions. Our discussion underlines the intense dynamic that underpins the investigated representational systems, studied in different areas of production and transformation. It leads to complex and tense representational phenomena, including actions that transgress and prolong the established cultural and social order.

Does Lone Motherhood Decrease Women's Happiness? Evidence from Qualitative and Quantitative Research

Baranowska-Rataj, Anna, Matysiak, Anna, Mynarska, Monika January 2014 (has links) (PDF)
This paper contributes to the discussion on the effects of single motherhood on happiness. We use a mixed-method approach. First, based on indepth interviews with mothers who gave birth while single, we explore mechanisms through which children may influence mothers' happiness. In a second step, we analyze panel survey data to quantify this influence. Our results leave no doubt that, while raising a child outside of marriage poses many challenges, parenthood has some positive influence on a lone mother's life. Our qualitative evidence shows that children are a central point in an unmarried woman's life, and that many life decisions are taken with consideration of the child's welfare, including escaping from pathological relationships. Our quantitative evidence shows that, although the general level of happiness among unmarried women is lower than among their married counterparts, raising a child does not have a negative impact on their happiness.

[en] FROM CRITICAL RATIONALISM TO PLURALISTIC ANARCHISM: A BREAKAWAY IN PAUL FEYERABENDS PHILOSOPHY / [pt] DO RACIONALISMO CRÍTICO AO ANARQUISMO PLURALISTA: UMA RUPTURA NA TRANSFORMAÇÃO DO PENSAMENTO DE PAUL FEYERABEND

VIRGINIA MARIA FONTES GONCALVES 02 September 2004 (has links)
[en] Paul Karl Feyerabend is generally known as the philosopher of science against the idea of a unique scientific method, rationality and the view that science is a privileged form of knowledge. He proposed and defended epistemological anarchism and argued that, regarding scientific methodological rules, the only possible rule is anything goes. Since we consider this general image a simplification of Feyerabend´s epistemology, we intend to show that this philosopher was much more a critic of uniformity and a defender of diversity, when it comes to different forms of knowledge and worldviews, than an opponent of science per se. From this point of view, Feyerabend´s writings occupy a special standing in the rationality of science debate, since his approach goes beyond the irrationalist relativist positions that state the influence of irrational factors in the development of so called scientific knowledge. In this research, we shall emphasize those feyerabendian arguments that constitute an alert towards the lack of a critical attitude regarding scientific standards - Objectivity, Reason and Truth - as providers of a legitimate privilege of science in relation to other forms of knowledge. In addition, we shall also discuss the undesirable consequences of this lack of criticism not only within the philosophy of science but also for the development of scientific knowledge itself and, over all, for the accomplishment of individuality, of liberty and of the human potential.

INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE AGAINST MEN. A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF HOW DEFINITION, STUDY CHARACTERISTICS AND QUALITY AFFECTS PREVALENCE

Lindstrøm, Ronja January 2018 (has links)
Intimate partner violence (IPV) is an important social problem, but historically the scientific research has focused mostly on the female victims. Several reviews exist on female victims, but no on male victims. The prevalence rates presented in the literature are very heterogeneous, which has been explained by variations in methodology, a lack of a clear recognized definition and a missing golden standard. This thesis reviews prevalence rates in studies on IPV with a male victim, and answers the following questions; (1) What are the total prevalence rates in relation to the different study characteristics and do we see any significant differences within these characteristics? (2) How does the definition of intimate partner violence and study characteristics affect the prevalence rate? (3) What type of relationship do we see between the quality of studies and prevalence rate?A systematic review has been carried out resulting in 49 relevant studies on male victims of IPV. The data from these 49 studies have been extracted based on the operationalization of “definition” in categories of type of violence, type of instrument and number of survey questions and in the operationalization of study quality based on a quality index by Looney et al. (2000). A students t-test and linear regression models was conducted to answer the research questions. This study finds that men are more often victims of psychological violence than physical violence, which is in contrast to female victims. The study also finds that the introduction of each of the definition-variables results in higher prevalence rates. This indicates, that factors related to the definition are important elements in the study of IPV prevalence in male victims.
