Dear Dear DearKoch, Devin Harold 21 May 2019 (has links)
Dear Dear Dear is a collection of prose block poems that follow a queer speaker who is being confined by the world around him (the Midwest, the speaker's family/family values, gender norms, to one's own body, mortality, Monsanto, etc.) that tries to control and define him as a person. Dear Dear Dear examines the notion that humans are a product of one's own environment. It explores how one can be ones own product in response to being confined.
Dear Dear Dear explores different themes such as 'Nightmares VS Reality', 'Confinement', 'Response to Being Confined', 'What is Home' seen in the collection. These themes intertwine with one another to create a loose narrative about a speaker actively trying to find a space where he can simply exist and call home without any fear of judgment from the world in which he inhabits. / Master of Fine Arts

Previous issue date: 2018-09-24 / The purpose of this dissertation is to construct the Knowledge State, through the
procedures of inventorying and analyzing, showing the main keywords,
methodologies, categories, results obtained and main authors have been
researched, in the field of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education , in a
dialectical perspective, of the dissertations produced in the Masters courses in
Education of the Catholic Universities of the Central West Region. Thus, the
relevance of knowing the "State of Knowledge", Professional, Scientific and
Technological Education, of these institutions, mapping and examining all the
knowledge already produced in this area of knowledge, having as main point which
paths they see being traveled, the its aspects and the results being pointed out. The
theoretical contributions that support the teachings presented during this work are:
ROMANOWSKI (2006), FERREIRA (2002), BOURDIEU (1994), MARX (2004),
FRIGOTTO (2007), SAVIANI (2007), among others. The methodology used in this
work was documentary and bibliographic research, based on a content analysis,
qualitative and quantitative. Thus, in the constitution and triggering of the analysis of
the process of construction of the State of Knowledge of Vocational, Scientific and
Technological Education, it was possible to perceive the unveiling of a clash, of
political-ideological character, throughout history, which expresses relations of power
which are reiterated in our teaching-learning process. But they also demonstrated the
presence of agents who are willing to dismantle the perpetuation of the subordination
of education to the policies of economic capital, who persevere in the search for gaps
so that professional education, by remaining linked to public policies of employment
and income, essential aspects for human dignity, be developed within the conception
of education of citizen and emancipatory formation. And although we believe that we
have contributed to the present research to the scientific environment, we have also
held to not having reached its fullness, and further investigations are still necessary
in future studies, in view of the indicatives that were projected throughout this
research.
metodologias, categorias, resultados obtidos e autores têm sido pesquisados, acerca
(2002), BOURDIEU (1994), MARX (2004), FRIGOTTO (2007), SAVIANI (2007),
dentre outros.
e emancipadora.

RE-EXAMINING THE ‘HEARTLAND’: KOREAN AMERICAN RELIGIOUS AND ETHNIC IDENTITY FORMATIONS IN THE MIDWESTHana C. Lee Moore (5929931) 17 January 2019 (has links)
What is it like to grow up in the United States Midwest, without an accessible co-ethnic population, as a second-generation Korean American Christian? Drawing from forty-seven in-depth interviews of second-generation Korean American Christians who grew up in the Midwest, an analysis of the data reveals several aspects of their lives. First, Korean American families are moving to the Midwest for educational and economic gain, because of pre-existing networks with friends and family, and through family sponsorships. Second, this data reveals the long-term consequences of racism this population faces, causing some to desire to leave the Midwest, to internalize their oppression, or to work towards changing society through their careers and churches. Religious identity is a key factor in helping respondents process the racism they have faced. Second-generation Korean American Christians in the Midwest also find a sense of belonging, that they did not find in their neighborhoods and schools, through ethno-religious communities: Korean American Christian youth camp and/or organizations during college. Participation in these groups strengthened both their religious and ethnic identities.

Previous issue date: 2014-02-28 / Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq / Hepatitis A virus (HAV) is a major cause of enterically transmitted hepatitis worldwide. Poor sanitary conditions particularly lack of safe water and sewerage systems have been associated with increased prevalence of this infection. In Brazil, there are more than 1, 200, 00 families living in rural settlements. Most of them have no access to safety water, and many had lived previously in landless camping in poor hygiene conditions. The aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence of hepatitis A among people living in rural settlements in Central Brazil. From 2008 to 2011, individuals living in rural settlement in the municipalities of Jataí and surround (n=466), Goiás/GO and Ponta Porã, Mato
Grosso do Sul/MS (n= 454) were interviewed and blood samples were collected
and tested for HAV antibodies (total anti-HAV) by ELISA, respectively. Globally
85.9% (95% CI: 83.5 – 88.0). Of individuals had been previously infected by
HAV. None child aged less than five years was anti-HAV positive. Otherwise,
almost the totality (98.7%) of individuals aged 20 years or more were exposed
to HAV. Concerning individuals with 10-19 years old, the overall prevalence of
HAV was 69,6%. In the settlements studied in Goiás, age, history of life in
landless, number of people per household and water source were
independently associated to HAV positivity (p< 0.05). The results of this study
suggest intermediate infection rates for HAV infection in rural settlements in
Central Brazil, ratifying the need for public health politics addressed to this
population segment that presents characteristics which may favor HAV
acquiring and spread. Hepatitis A vaccine should be guaranteed for rural
populations.
