Oselame, Valmor Luiz January 2006 (has links)
The Will to Power on Nietzsche’s thought is the expression of life, without another connection, such metaphysical, religious, moral or psychological. For the understanding of this human being, on Nietzsche’s thought, is necessary to frame it within of that which he call historical spirit, civilization, world and vital forces. Only within this concept’s complex the Will to Power excels so far the life’s expression as his enhancement. The life either continually grows or perishes. The interpreter’s majority, however, applied oneself to analyze the expression Will to Power – Wille zur Macht – under the metaphysical aspect. Here are analyzed six among the principals, Arthur C. The expression Will to Power – Wille zur Macht – in Nietzsche’s works so in published as in unpublished, hasn’t that metaphysical connection. Nietzsche, at least, hasn’t worried with the metaphysical question of will to power. His preoccupation has with the life, and the life in this world, which, according to Nietzsche, has lost the sense because substantiate itself upon values so-called absolute and eternal, but that losing his validity enabled the nihilism’s emergence. Hence for Nietzsche the will to power is life’s enhancement – and nothing besides!

Lay training at Mindolo Ecumenical Foundation

Katoneene, Jonah 11 1900 (has links)
This study describes and analyses lay training programmes at Mindolo Ecumenical Foundation (MEF) with emphasis on: Women's Training; Conference, Research and Development; and Youth Leadership. Mindolo is seen as an expression of the church's presence in society and a symbol of hope, peace and reconciliation. Lay training programmes at Mindolo aim at equipping Christians to act as 'leaven', salt and 'light' in society. The values and morals of the African people could be the basis of such teaching. The study discusses how the term 'laity' has negative implications such as regarding the laity as non-competent or specialist because they are not priests or theologians. It illustrates that although the majority of Christians are women, leadership in the church is dominated by men. The study illustrates how critical it is for Mindolo to evaluate its original vision in light of current challenges and promises. / Christian Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / MA (Religious Studies)

Witnessing moral educators breaking (their) moral teachings, morality and self-reported crime : A study on adults in two countries, Sweden and Greece

Avratoglou, Alexandros January 2021 (has links)
The present paper extends previous research in terms of integrating social learning with morality theories, under the framework of moral educators’ and their conflicting moral influences. Specifically, this study aims to investigate the impact of witnessing moral educators breaking (their) moral teachings on individual’s morality and criminal behavior using a sample of two countries, Sweden and Greece, with similar population but entirely different cultural and social characteristics. We focus on three research questions regarding the correlations and (i) the explanatory influence of witnessing this conflict on moral emotions and values by gender and country, (ii) its impact on traditional crime by gender and country and (iii) the impact that witnessing the conflict and morality mutually have on traditional crime in the two countries. Our findings emerge in three key points. First, we found that witnessing moral educators influenced both moral emotions differentially in each country and gender, but only affected Swedish males’ moral values. Secondly, our results showed that witnessing moral educators can explain a moderate to small variance of traditional crime only for males in the two countries. Lastly, we found that witnessing moral educators together with morality can explain a moderate variance of traditional crime in the two countries, while gender is highly important for both countries. Findings are discussed in relation to theory and previous research. Future research is recommended in order to expand the understanding of the cultural and social learning processes that inhibit (im)moral contexts and subsequently affect morality and offending.

A qualitative study of motherhood as an area of theological reflection and analysis

Sekersöz, Awista January 2024 (has links)
Motherhood is a broad and universal topic that should be explored from different perspectives. Despite extensive research that has been conducted, motherhood is not yet fully explored from a theological perspective. This study aims to explore and analyze motherhood within the Christian tradition by examining the interpretations of two Christian theologians. The work will compare and contrast their perspectives. Two books have been selected to deepen the understanding of motherhood from a Christian perspective and form the core of the work. The choice of the material from a Christian perspective has a practical connection that lies in the fact that Sweden is a Christian, albeit secular country, where this can contribute to creating a starting point to better understand the social and normative connections in society. Since the work includes comparison and analysis of texts written by two theologians, a research method is required that enables critical examination of the content, therefore substantive idea analysis as a scientific method has been applied. The work is based on an ethical theory, as ethics is described as a branch of philosophy that is dedicated to scientifically examining and analyzing morality. Within Christianity there are connections to various ethical theories such as virtue ethics and duty ethics, which are the main theoretical perspectives of this work. The analysis of the work shows that the studied theologians share similarity in their view of motherhood in relation to ethical and moral requirements and emphasize that motherhood is a complex phenomenon. However, the theologians shed light on different issues, which shows varying perspectives on motherhood. The main finding of this study is around the role of motherhood and the stage of change from the traditional view to the modern, feminist and individualistic view. The work shows that these views are not incompatible, but that there are common points of contact. Research, analysis and discussion around this opens up the theological didactics and encourages a discourse that questions and invites conversation about social roles and norms.

Řada nešťastných příhod Lemony Snicketa a Harry Potter Joanne Rowlingové jako příklady současné angloamerické morální fantasy / Lemony Snicket´s Series of Unfortunate Events and Joan Rowling´s Harry Potter as Examples of Contemporary Anglo-American Moral Fantasy

FRANKOVÁ, Nikola January 2018 (has links)
The thesis deals with the interpretation of Series of Unfortunate Events written by an American author Lemony Snicket and Joanne K. Rowling´s story about Harry Potter. The analysis is focused on the moral and ethical aspects of individual motifs and symbols, as well as on the importance of human values in the behaviour of main characters. Some of the main protagonist were analysed according to their ability to spread good or evil, and therefore their influence on the young reader. The most important aspect was the good will of characters according to the principles of Lévinas' ethics while the self-sacrifice of the heroes is considered the highest moral value.
