Versuchsanlage ROCOM zur Untersuchung der Kühlmittelvermischung in Druckwasserreaktoren - Ergebnisse quasistationärer Vermischungsexperimente

Grunwald, G., Kliem, S., Höhne, T., Rohde, U., Prasser, H.-M., Richter, K.-H., Weiß, F.-P. January 2002 (has links)
The test facility ROCOM (Rossendorf Coolant Mixing Model) has been built for the investigation of coolant mixing processes in the reactor pressure vessel of pressurised water reactors (PWR). ROCOM is a 1:5 model of the German PWR KONVOI and has been designed for a wide range of different mixing scenarios. ROCOM disposes of four loops with fully controllable coolant pumps. The test facility is operated with demineralised water. For the investigation of mixing, tracer solution (water labelled with salt) is injected into the facility. The transient distribution of the electrical conductivity is is measured at different positions of the flow path by means of wire-mesh sensor technique with high resolution in space and time. The measured conductivity is transformed into a dimensionless mixing scalar. The mixing at quasi-stationary conditions (constant loop mass flow rates) has been investigated in the presented experiments. That concerned nominal operation conditions, the operation with a reduced number of loops and the investigation of cold-water transients with running pumps and conditions of developed natural circulation. In special experimental series, the reproducibility of the results at identicla boundary conditions within the confidence intervalls has been shown. Further, the influence of various factors on the mixing has been investigated. This included the pressure losses at the core bottom plate, the global coolant flow level and the influence of the loop flow rate on the perturbed sector at the core inlet. An analysis of the measurement error of the used measurement technique completes the report.

Embracing Transformative Technology to End Worker Exploitation : How Individual Resistance to Change Management Can Explain the Limited Adoption of Worker Monitoring Tools in Multinational Organizations.

Kahn, Alek, Jiang, Yiping, Nilsson, Måns January 2021 (has links)
Background: The unethical treatment of factory workers is widespread, especially in developing countries. There is no international legal body with the jurisdiction to uphold universal labor rights. Hence, the responsibility to ensure worker well-being falls upon the multinational organizations that operate the supply chain. These focal firms often use social auditing; however, recent research reveals that this approach does not incorporate workers' experiences on a consistent basis. To address these shortcomings, a new technology has enabled organizations to connect directly with factory workers, we term the technology digital reporting tools (DRT).  Problem: Even though DRT potential is supported, their adoption rate amongst multinational organizations remains minimal. The benefits of these tools cannot be leveraged without firm implementation. In fact, the estimated market size for socially sustainable tools in global supply chains significantly outweighs their investment rates. This discrepancy must be explained to advance the industry.  Purpose: This thesis intends to deepen the understanding of individual and group level resistance within the change management field by researching a phenomenon that combines technology and social sustainability: DRTs. By recognizing the internal subjective experiences of potential users of DRT technology, we ultimately hope to inform DRT-providers and focal firms of internal and unrealized bottlenecks that hinder the adoption of these tools.  Method: The thesis employs an inductive research approach with a qualitative research design based on 8 semi-structured interviews. All respondents are potential users of the technology within focal firms.  Result: Upon researching the experience of potential users, we find that their willingness to suggest DRT to upper management is the primary mechanism that impacts adoption. We partitioned willingness to suggest into two aggregate dimensions: perceived acceptance of upper management and organizational culture. We find potential users hold an internal need to pitch DRT to upper management in monetary terms. Furthermore, half of DRT utility was unknown by respondents. Lastly, we correlate the sub-theories of change management to the different factors we identified.

Nucené nasazení studentů středních škol v období okupace / Forced Use of Secondary School Students During the Occupation

Eisenhammer, Miroslav January 2013 (has links)
Miroslav Eisenhammer Forced use of secondary school students during the occupation Supervisor: PhDr. Jan Gebhart, CSc., DSc. Abstract This dissertation deals with yet completely unprocessed issue of forced labor deployment of secondary and vocational school pupils in the Czech lands during the occupation by Nazi Germany. After the initial characteristics of the development of the German and the Protectorate economy and the Nazi attitude to use workforce of its own population and of occupied countries, the other chapter is devoted to the situation in the Czech education in 1939-1945. The Nazis considered the Czech intelligence as the enemy, so after the closure of Czech universities they deliberately restricted Czech secondary education. These restrictions did not have only national political, but also economic significance. From 1939 workers from the Czech lands were sent to work in the Reich. This trend increased significantly from 1942, when Germany intensified the expansion of war production and at the same time they started extensive program of forced labor of foreign workers in German industry. One of the labor sources were secondary school pupils, who the new legislation from February 1943 allowed to acknowledge de facto incomplete education based on the confirmed certificate in forced labor...

'It was never about the games' : A Critical Discourse Analysis of the Construction of "Video Game Addiction" in Swedish News 1991-2017

Benjaminsson, Ulf, Unéus, Danielle January 2023 (has links)
This theoretical thesis employs critical discourse analysis to scrutinise the construction of video game addiction in Swedish press from 1991 to 2017, and examines its potential contribution to a moral panic. Our research is based on the assumption that media discourse influences societal norms, which in turn, can profoundly affect individuals and groups. Our primary results suggest that a small group of moral entrepreneurs, mainly treatment providers for gambling disorders, were given an ideological near-monopoly over the conceptualization of video game addiction in the Swedish press. They popularised diagnostic criteria and screening tools by paraphrasing those developed for substance addiction, thus implying that this new disorder was just like substance addiction and therefore warranted similarly aggressive interventions and possibly clinical treatment. Additionally, we found that the often alarmist concerns over players' health, education, social life and other presumed harms of video game addiction were not primarily rooted in the games themselves. Our sample shows that the discourse seamlessly expanded to incorporate new sources of addiction, treating video games, the Internet, computers, social media, smart phones, and, most recently, screens as functional synonyms.  Our analysis suggests that the moral panic might be a manifestation of deeper societal factors, including traditional patriarchal family values, prejudice against youth, expectations of neuro-normativity, and conservative views on digital media. Recognizing the influence of these underlying factors may help parents, teachers, social workers and gamers themselves navigate the still-ongoing media trend of using pop psychology and amateur neuroscience to justify patriarchal and capitalist morality tales.

Study on Lithium Battery Thermal Analysis For E-bike

Vijayan, Sreekuttan, Jaimon, Jais January 2023 (has links)
E-bikes, often known as electric bicycles, are becoming more and more well-liked as green modes of mobility. High-capacity lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries are utilised to power these e-bikes because of their extended cycle life, high energy density, and low self-discharge rate. The performance and longevity of these batteries may be impacted by temperature fluctuations, however. To guarantee the safe and dependable functioning of Li-ion batteries used in e-bikes, it is crucial to do temperature analysis on the batteries. In this dissertation, the thermal behaviour of a 48V 60AH Li-ion battery used in an e-bike will be studied under various cooling scenarios. The research specifically contrasts forced convection cooling using fans with broad and limited outlet ports to natural air convection cooling with large and reduced outlet ports. The study sheds light on the ideal cooling setups that might increase battery longevity and performance. The results of this study have important ramifications for e-bike producers and designers, battery producers, and energy storage system researchers. Simulations based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) are used to simulate the thermal behaviour of the Li-ion battery under various cooling settings for the investigation. 25°C has been selected as the ambient temperature. For forced convection, the airflow rate is set at 3.5 m/s, whereas the airflow rate for natural convection is set at 0.1 m/s. The study's findings demonstrate that both natural and forced convection cooling methods may successfully lower the temperature of a Li-ion battery. However, forced air convection cooling using fans is more efficient than natural air convection at dispersing heat. These findings suggest that, owing to the higher air velocity, shrinking the outlet ports in both cooling approaches improves thermal performance.

Socialtjänsten "kidnappar" muslimska barn : En kvalitativ studie om hur spridningen av desinformation påverkar socialsekreterares arbete med barn och unga / Social services "kidnaps" muslim children : A qualitative study of how the spread of disinformation affect the work of social workers operating within the child-welfare system

Aronsson, Hilda, Taneo Zander, Jennifer January 2023 (has links)
This study examines how the disinformation campaign aimed towards social services in Sweden has affected the work of social workers, specifically in regards to meetings with service-users. The empirical data has been collected through seven semi-structured interviews with professional social workers who operate within the Swedish child-welfare system. The data was analyzed through thematic analysis. From the thematic analysis four main themes could be identified, which include how social services operate, meetings with service-users, trust towards social services and the spread of the disinformation campaign and possible measures. The study shows that the social workers rarely have experienced any particular effects in their work that could be directly tied to the disinformation campaign. However, they shed light on some instances in meetings with service-users that could potentially be connected to the disinformation campaign. The study also highlights that distrust among service-users towards social services exists and that an already-existing negative perception of social services prevails. The spread of the disinformation campaign is believed to further contribute to this poor perception. The study shows that trust among service-users towards social services is of high importance in order for social workers to be able to execute their tasks. Thus, measures towards counteracting the spread of desinformation as well as measures towards creating trust must be implemented. The study highlights that social workers, through one-on-one meetings with service-users, have the ability to directly respond to prejudice and lack of knowledge in regards to social services among service-users. However, measures on larger scales must also be implemented in order to achieve a comprehensive impact on the public’s perception of social services.
