Přínos Olgy Havlové pro nové přístupy k lidem se znevýhodněním / Olga Havel contribution to assisting and caring for people with disabilities

Hons, Jindřich January 2020 (has links)
My diploma thesis named " Olga Havel contribution to assisting and caring for people with disabilities" analyzes information from various testimonies, media sources or literary sources and aims to provide the reader with the most realistic picture that could portray Mrs. Olga Havel. My research follows the legacy of Olga Havel that she left in the field of care for people with disabilities. The main intention is to observe her ingress to disadvantaged people. On top of that, I wanted to highlight how her personality and her social role as the first lady in the Czech Republic shaped approaches to the people in the Czechoslovak Republic before year 1989 and also in the time period after the Velvet revolution. The practical part was based on the processing of the results of qualitative research carried out in the form of interviews as well as information taken from related literature. The main qualitative method, for processing data, is called "oral history" and it is based on interviews. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Epístolas do amor e da guerra: o espaço biográfico nas cartas de Olga Benário

Quillici, Mariana Bisaio 25 February 2015 (has links)
Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de Minas Gerais / This dissertation presents the analysis of three letters, written by Olga Benario and addressed to Luiz Carlos Prestes, during the period when she was imprisoned in Nazi Germany of Adolf Hitler, and he in dictatorial Brazil of Getúlio Vargas. Understanding the importance of epistolary writing, especially when it becomes the only form of communication, we seek to find Olga profile brands that escape existing stereotypical view in the popular imagination. For this, we analyzed the letters from the perspective of war, love, and readings that Benario did, alongside his life, and records in the space of reflection that the letter provides. The proposal is to allow, through writing own Olga Benario, find his reflections, anguish and desires. Therefore, base us in theoretical as Alfredo Bosi, Leonor Arfuch, Maria Luiza Tucci Carneiro, Martin Gilbert, Peter Gay, Primo Levi, Silvina Rodrigues Lopes, Tzvetan Todorov, among others. Active control of hydrodynamic slug flow

Inyiama, Fidelis Chidozie 04 1900 (has links)
Multiphase flow is associated with concurrent flow of more than one phase (gas-liquid, liquid-solid, or gas-liquid-solid) in a conduit. The simultaneous flow of these phases in a flow line, may initiate a slug flow in the pipeline. Hydrodynamic slug flow is an alternate or irregular flow with surges of liquid slug and gas pocket. This occurs when the velocity difference between the gas flow rate and liquid flow rate is high enough resulting in an unstable hydrodynamic behaviour usually caused by the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability. Active feedback control technology, though found effective for the control of severe slugs, has not been studied for hydrodynamic slug mitigation in the literature. This work extends active feedback control application for mitigating hydrodynamic slug problem to enhance oil production and recovery. Active feedback Proportional-Integral (PI) control strategy based on measurement of pressure at the riser base as controlled variable with topside choking as manipulated variable was investigated through Olga simulation in this project. A control system that uses the topside choke valve to keep the pressure at the riser base at or below the average pressure in the riser slug cycle has been implemented. This has been found to prevent liquid accumulation or blockage of the flow line. OLGA (olga is a commercial software widely tested and used in oil and gas industries) has been used to assess the capability of active feedback control strategy for hydrodynamic slug control and has been found to give useful results and most interestingly the increase in oil production and recovery. The riser slugging was suppressed and the choke valve opening was improved from 5% to 12.65% using riser base pressure as controlled variable and topside choke valve as the manipulated variable for the manual choking when compared to the automatic choking in a stabilised operation, representing an improvement of 7.65% in the valve opening. Secondly, implementing active control at open-loop condition reduced the riser base pressure from 15.3881bara to 13.4016bara.

HYDRATE BLOCKAGE POTENTIAL IN AN OIL-DOMINATED SYSTEM STUDIED USING A FOUR INCH FLOW LOOP

Boxall, John A., Davies, Simon R., Nicholas, Joseph W., Koh, Carolyn A., Sloan, E. Dendy 07 1900 (has links)
An understanding of the blockage potential for an oil dominated system is an important step in moving from hydrate prevention to hydrate management. To better understand this problem a series of experiments were performed by varying the water cut, fluid velocity, and gas-liquid volume fraction using the ExxonMobil (XoM) flow loop in Houston, Texas, USA. The XoM large loop is a three pass, four inch internal diameter flow loop with a sliding vane pump capable of generating liquid velocities of up to 4 m/s. The systems that were studied include a range of water cuts from 5%-50% in a light crude oil (Conroe crude) and a gas phase of either pure methane for sI or 75% methane and 25% ethane which has sII as the thermodynamically stable phase. The results are compared with the hydrate plug prediction tool, CSMHyK, integrated into the multiphase flow simulator OLGA5®. The comparison between the model and the flow loop results serve as a basis for improving hydrate formation and plug prediction. In addition, the experimental variables that promote plug formation in the flow loop and how these may translate into the field are discussed.

LAST 20 YEARS OF GAS HYDRATES IN THE OIL INDUSTRY: CHALLENGES AND ACHIEVEMENTS IN PREDICTING PIPELINE BLOCKAGE

Estanga, Douglas A., Creek, Jefferson, Subramanian, Sivakumar, Kini, Ramesh A. 07 1900 (has links)
The continuous effort to understand the complicated behavior of gas hydrates in multiphase flow has led to the evolution of a new paradigm of hydrate blockage. The hydrate community continues to debate the impact of kinetics, agglomeration, and oil chemistry effects on hydrate blockage formation in pipelines and wellbores. However, today’s industry for the most part still continues to rely on thermodynamic means to develop strategies to prevent hydrates altogether in its production systems. These strategies such as thermal insulation of equipment, electric heating, dead oil displacement, and methanol injection add CAPEX, OPEX, and operational complexities to system design. In spite of high oil prices, adopting such strategies to mitigate perceived hydrate blockage risk can end up taxing economics of marginal fields. Developing a comprehensive multiphase flow simulator capable of handling the transient aspects of production operations - shut-in, restart, blowdown and blockage prediction - continues to drive the research in Flow Assurance. New operating strategies based on risk management approach seem to be evolving from the model predictions. A shift in paradigm that allows for operations inside the hydrate region based on sound risk assessment and management principles could be a factor enabling future developments of marginal fields. This paper discusses the challenges and opportunities that have led to the change in focus from prevention of hydrates to prevention of blockage, and describes some initial successes in the development of a first generation empirical tool for the prediction of hydrate blockages in flow lines. Also presented in this article are new experimental data that shed some light on different ways that hydrate blockages can manifest in the field.

En roman att sätta tänderna i : - Tre forskare och fem studenter tolkar Bram Stokers Dracula

Gall, Beata January 2018 (has links)

The Limits of Transnationalism in Olga Grjasnowa's "Gott ist nicht schüchtern"

Happe, Rosalin 19 March 2019 (has links)
The terms “refugees” and “refugee crisis” have been prominent in media discourse all over the world – especially since the beginning of the Syrian civil war in 2011 and large incoming numbers of refugees into Europe since 2015. Germany, whose media initially celebrated its “Willkommenskultur”, has become increasingly critical of refugees; political and civic exclusion has intensified, and emphasis has been placed on belonging based on peoples’ passports and hence nationalities, which determine whether or not someone belongs in a country. The author Olga Grjasnow, born 1984 in Baku, Azerbaijan and who is of Russian-Jewish descent, took on the task of describing the horrific circumstances in Syria in the midst of its ongoing civil war in her latest novel, entitled Gott ist nicht schüchtern (2017). Moreover, she depicts individuals’ flight across the ocean and their eventual arrival and life in Germany. In her book, Olga Grjasnowa describes the lives of three young Syrian individuals and their extremely limited possibilities of leading a free, peaceful life due to their nationality and the resulting closing of diverse borders for them.Based on the scholarly discourse on transnational fiction and how this work may or may not fit into this notion, especially with regard to globalization and powerful nations’ economic interests, this thesis seeks to analyze how nationalist and capitalist policy makings affect people in drastic ways, as they find themselves uprooted and persecuted.By excluding a Western narrative voice, Olga Grjasnowa zooms in on the lives of Syrians and their hopeless circumstances, while showing how a “wrong” passport makes life for people difficult to navigate in Syria, Germany and beyond. By means of close reading, I analyze the novel pertaining to the war in Syria and the resulting politics, media coverage and individual “fate”, which is tied to limitations for people to escape these circumstances based on documents and national borders.

Ecology and Retribution: Blake, Tokarczuk, and Animal Rights

Powell, Kristina Isaak 22 June 2023 (has links) (PDF)
This thesis explores how Nobel laureate Olga Tokarczuk's 2008 novel, Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead, engages with William Blake's life and his writings on animal welfare and speaks to current conversations about multispecies justice in the environmental humanities. It argues, first, that in recognizing how this novel's protagonist, Janina, selectively reads Blake to rationalize retributive justice, readers should resist a tendency to mistake this character for Tokarczuk's ideal advocate for environmental ethics. Secondly, it asserts that legal scholars' division between retributive and restorative justice offers valuable framework for approaching both this novel and ongoing debates about multispecies relations and environmental justice.
