La Poetica de Olga Orozco como Proyeccion Estetica del Pensamiento Moderno: un Modelo de Doble Lectura

Ramirez-Arballo, Alejandro Arturo January 2008 (has links)

The teaching and artistic legacy of Olga Samaroff Stokowski

McGillen, Geoffrey E. January 1989 (has links)
The purpose of this research is to investigate the life and piano teaching of Olga Samaroff in order to determine her contribution to American music. The sub-problems were to survey the important influences upon her life; examine her association with wealthy patrons, concert managers, and conductors; scrutinize her personal relationship with Leopold Stokowski; define and discuss her piano teaching method; assess her application of it with a cross section of students; and reveal the problems that her method encountered.Olga Samaroff (San Antonio, Texas, 8 August 1882-New York, 17 May 1948), christened Lucie Mary Olga Agnes Hickenlooper, first studied piano with her grandmother, Mrs. Lucie Loening Grunewald. Grunewald emphasized the importance of recreating accurately the composer's text. Much of Samaroffs teaching method evolved from her early training with Grunewald.Samaroff, the first American female to win a scholarship at the Paris Conservatoire, entered it in 1896. Studies in Berlin (1898-1900) followed with Ernst Jedlickza and Ernest Hutcheson. In Paris and Berlin, Samaroff personally expE!rienced a slavish attitude towards musicaltradition, and later eschewed such adherence to any single school or style. Her first marriage (1900) to a Russian named Boris Loutzky subsequently caused her to settle in St. Petersburg (now Leningrad). After leaving Loutzky in 1904, Samaroff returned to the US and began her concert career. The vicissitudes of her career presented her with first hand experience. Samaroff withdrew several times from the concert stage, retiring officially in 1926 due to an arm injury. In the meantime, she married and later divorced conductor Leopold Stokowski_(1911-23), whose rehearsal technique she cited as an important influence on her teaching. She began teaching at the newly established Juilliard Graduate School in 1924. She also taught at the Philadelphia Conservatory (1924-48).Samaroff s two-part approach of artistic independence and human development contrasted with the artist-coach method of other prominent teachers of the day. Her students were surveyed about the efficacy of her teaching. In addition Samaroffs own files and personal correspondence, hitherto unavailable, are included as evidence in support of this author's findings. / School of Music

Konstnärshemmens plats i kulturarvsförvaltningen : En studie av Bengtsfors kommuns hantering av Birkfeldtska villan / The place of artists’ homes in cultural heritage management : A study of the Bengtsfors municipality ́s handling of the Birkfeldtska villan

Arvholm, Elin January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this essay is to investigate whether, and if so, what place smaller artists' homes can have in a rural municipality. Through a case study of Bengtsfors municipality's handling of the donated artists' home Birkfeldtska villan, their management work has been mapped. What may have influenced the administration and why the municipality acted as they did, are questions that are being discussed. Archive material and interviews have formed the basis of the investigation together with a small literature review. The result shows that the Birkfeldtska villan went from being considered worth preserving to not being deemed to fulfill a function. The management of the gift seems to be affected by a lack of interest and knowledge as well as financial resources. These three factors can be a challenge within the rural municipalities' work with cultural heritage.

OLGA BENARIO EM DUAS NARRATIVAS BIOGRÁFICAS: DA HISTÓRIA PARA A FICÇÃO / OLGA BENARIO IN TWO BIOGRAPHICAL NARRATIVES: FROM HISTORY TO FICTION

Mendes, Giovana Oliveira 10 March 2014 (has links)
The present work constitutes a comparative study between two biographical novels, one of them belong to the category of non-fiction novel. The first, titled Olga Benario, is authored by the German writer Ruth Werner. The second, Olga, was written by the Brazilian journalist / writer Fernando Morais. The two texts, in their own way, try to reconstruct the life of one that became known as "the Jewish communist, mate of Luís Carlos Prestes, who had surrendered to Hitler by Vargas government." This study focuses on the analysis of these two biographies, both in relation to specific elements of the genre which they belong as to their content of historical nature, so that it is possible build relations between them, checking on which aspects they approach and on which are distant, and at which moments establish a dialogue with the actual fact. At the same time, it intends, at the end of the analysis, have an outlined image of the character Olga according to the Brazilian and German versions. Structurally, the dissertation is divided into three chapters, which are added to the introduction and final considerations. The first deals with some definitions of the biographical genre, as well as the particular characteristics of each of the novels in question, the second one is constituted of a brief contextualization of the period portrayed in the two biographies, from 1923 to 1942, with descriptions of some Brazilian journalists and historians about each epoch and confrontation with passages of literary texts. The third includes a comparative analysis of some passages from the writings of Werner and Morais, emphasizing the historical content, how the facts are narrated and the implicit social critique in discourse. Finally, the final considerations are presenting with the closing of the discussions proposed initially.

Hlaváčková, Hana January 2017 (has links)
This thesis focuses on Olga Krijtova (1931-2013), an important figure in the academic field of Dutch studies in the Czech Republic and a prolific translator of Dutch literature into Czech language. She played a major role in introducing Dutch literature to the Czech cultural context and the thesis focuses on examining the influence of communist ideology and her own literary taste and preferences on her translations, which have deeply influenced the whole image of Dutch literature in the Czech culture. These aspects are examined by analysing her peritexts, several translations and epitexts, all of which shed further light on the nature of Krijtova's contributions to the image of Dutch literature in the Czech culture. Furthermore, the obtained data are interpreted through Toury's norms in translation. Key words: Olga Krijtova, literary translations, ideology, paratexts analysis, Dutch literature

Gränsöverskridande i Olga Tokarczuks roman Styr din plog över de dödas ben

Almerud, Eva-Kersti January 2018 (has links)
My aim with this essay was to write about bordercrossing and border changing in Olga Tokarczuk’s literary work with the main focus on her novel Drive Your Plow over the Bones of the Dead. While writing I came to the conclusion that there are very many different sorts of border changing in the novel, for example borders between countries, borders between fiction and reality, indistinct borders, borders between identities and borders in time and space. However, one distinct bordercrossing, that I had not anticipated, emerged very clearly: the border changing when it comes to genre. Drive Your Plow over the Bones of the Dead characterizes as a detective story, but the more you read the novel, the more you realize, that other themes might be more important than the puzzle. This book holds above all eco fiction and posthumanism. By crossing different borders Olga Tokarczuk has transformed an illusory detective story to a nuanced novel about human life on various levels and in different spaces, about human view on animals and about hunters’ disrespect for animals.
