A high-speed two-step analog-to-digital converter with an open-loop residue amplifier

Dinc, Huseyin 04 April 2011 (has links)
It is well known that feedback is a very valuable tool for analog designers to improve linearity, and desensitize various parameters affected by process, temperature and supply variations. However, using strong global feedback limits the operation speed of analog circuits due to stability requirements. The circuits and techniques explored in this research avoid the usage of strong-global-feedback circuits to achieve high conversion rates in a two-stage analog-to-digital converter (ADC). A two-step, 9-bit, complementary-metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) ADC utilizing an open-loop residue-amplifier is demonstrated. A background-calibration technique was proposed to generate the reference voltage to be used in the second stage of the ADC. This technique alleviates the gain variation in the residue amplifier, and allows an open-loop residue amplifier topology. Even though the proposed calibration idea can be extended to multistage topologies, this design was limited to two stages. Further, the ADC exploits a high-performance double-switching frontend sample-and-hold amplifier (SHA). The proposed double-switching SHA architecture results in exceptional hold-mode isolation. Therefore, the SHA maintains the desired linearity performance over the entire Nyquist bandwidth.

Systém pro přesná dynamická měření můstkových senzorů / System for precise dynamic measurement of bridge sensors

Čech, Jonáš January 2018 (has links)
This master’s thesis deals with design of measurement system for dynamic measurement of bridge sensors. After a short theoretical part, the own concept is introduced. System can provide sampling rate up to 250 kSa/s with 24-bit resolution. The maximum number of samples is about one and a half milion. At first, the design of analog part was made, in this phase of design the digital part is based on evaluation board with ARM Cortex-M7 and external memory. After final choice of appropriate ICs, the analog and digital part will be integrated into one PCB.

A Ação Global dos Povos e o novo anticapitalismo / Peoples Global Action and the new anticapitalism

Fiuza, Bruno de Matos 13 March 2017 (has links)
This work investigates the formation, in the second half of the 1990s, of what some activist groups have called global anticapitalism. The research analyzed the emergence of this new form of activism by studying the building of the worldwide network of struggle against neoliberal globalization that began to take shape in solidarity to the uprising of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) in Mexico, in January 1994, strengthened itself with the organization of the First and Second Intercontinental Encounters for Humanity and Against Neoliberalism, in 1996 and 1997, and culminated in the foundation, in 1998, of Peoples Global Action (PGA), a netowrk of social movements that created the global days of action and inspired the big demonstrations against multilateral institutions such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, starting with the protests that shut down the inaugurarion of the third Ministerial Conference of the WTO in Seattle, in November 1999. The aim of this work is to analyze the emergence and describe the main characteristics of a new kind of anticapitalism that grew out of the articulation of the struggles against neoliberal globalization in a global level and situate it within the long tradition of anticapitalist struggles of the 19th and 20th centuries, showing how the transformations of the capitalist mode of production gave birth to new forms of resistance. To do that, I have conducted a research in two levels, one theoretical and the other empirical. The empirical research was based on the analysis of documents produced by the movements that formed the worldwide network of struggle against neoliberal globalization between 1994 and 1998. The theoretical research consisted in the application of a theoretical model built upon the combination of two contemporary interpretations of the Marxian political economy in order to analyze the transformations of both capitalism and anticapitalism through the 19th and 20th centuries. This model was elaborated departing from the theory of class antagonism formulated by Italian workerist and autonomist intellectuals such as Antonio Negri and Mario Tronti, and from David Harveys theory of spatiotemporal fixes through accumulation by dispossession. By applying this theoretical model to the analysis of the empirical data provided by the textual sources produced by the movements that formed the worldwide network of struggle against neoliberal globalization it was possible to see the emergence of a new anticapitalism that took shape in response to the transformations of the capitalist mode of production since the accumulation crisis started in the 1970s and that gave rise to a new strategy to confront capital and to a new conception of the revolutionary subject. Since the research was based on the written declarations of the movements that built the worldwide network of struggle against neoliberal globalization, the results allow us to identify a new anticapitalist discourse, but dont provide enough elements to prove the emergence of new anticapitalist practices rooted in the everyday life of the movements involved in the network. Thus, the work concludes suggesting the necessity of conducting oral history researches to verify if and how this discourse was reflected in the everyday practice of the movements that took part in the network.

Évaluation environnementale et géométallurgique de minerais sulfurés polymétalliques, basée sur une approche minéralogique pluridisciplinaire / Environmental assessment of polymetallic sulfide ores based on a multidisciplinary approach

Chopard, Aurélie 20 December 2016 (has links)
Cette innovation vise à développer la microscopie optique pour des applications métallurgiques et environnementales de routine / This thesis proposes the implementation of a reliable methodology, based on the characterization of ores at the exploration stage. The main environmental issues for the mining industry are acid mine drainage and contaminated neutral drainage. Sulfides and sulfosalts, when in contact with water and oxygen, oxidize at different rates, resulting in the production of acid and release of various contaminants. Samples of pure sulfides were submitted to geochemical testing to determine their oxidation rates. The pure minerals can be ordered from the highest to the lowest reactivity as: gersdorffite > pyrrhotite > arsenopyrite > Ni-pyrite > Ni-pyrrhotite > Fe-sphalerite > pyrite > galena > chalcopyrite. Galvanic interactions between pyrite, chalcopyrite, and sphalerite were geochemically investigated. Pyrite was galvanically protected in presence of chalcopyrite, and partially protected in presence of sphalerite. Five synthetic tailings, simulating realistic tailings sulfides compositions, were prepared to compare geochemical behaviors and produce a better assessment of the acid-generation potential (AP). A new method is proposed by adding a kinetic factor. Ten polymetallic and gold sulfide ores were fully characterized with multidisciplinary techniques. Mineralogical investigations allowed for the mineralogical quantification of the ores, and for the knowledge of trace elements and their speciation. A method was developed to automatically quantify sulfides by multispectral optical microscopy. Detailed mineralogical work can save time and money and allows detecting the problems at the beginning of mining developments, improving mine waste management and mine closure planning

Förvärv eller Nyttjanderätt? - en jämförande studie av Baraprojektet / Acquisition or Use and Enjoyment? – a comparison of Baraprojektet

Lund, Andreas, Olsson, Pontus January 2006 (has links)
Our aim is to investigate alternatives to the sale of the properties Värby 61:1 etc. by Malmö municipality to PGA:s golf course project in Svedala municipality and to understand the planning process that preceded the decision. Our investigation is based on an explorative method where we complemented our secondary data with a number of interviews. Through our extensive observation we estimate that the rapport has good reliability and that we have accessed the right people who are able to add good validity to the rapport.Malmö municipality has not taken in consideration the unique object value factors when selling the property. Our opinion is that these factors do exist, although they are difficult to estimate. The result of this is that the price of the land should be much higher. Nils Yngvesson joining PGA National Sweden’s board’ and the parties’ competence and personal chemistry have also been a contributing factor to why the work with the normal planning process has been carried out so efficiently. The right of use that could be utilized by the parties instead of selling the land would be a leasehold right. In our opinion this would have benefited both parties with concerns regarding risk and value.
