automation systems became larger and more complex in order to meet these demands. This also increased the number of failures and maintenance necessity. However, solutions in automation often involve proprietary setups from manufacturers of industrial devices, preventing automation systems to be reused in different industrial applications without large efforts of development. Thus, systems that can be applied to a large number of industrial applications are desired by many companies, since they can reduce costs with deployment, maintenance and training, and even more if these systems also enable remote collection of information from their operation status. This work proposes a reusable hardware and software architecture to monitor and control industrial automation systems, which is not limited to a single industrial application; instead, it can be connected to any other one, as long as a communication port is available to access the process automation protocol. This is achieved by utilizing standardized technologies in the interfaces between components of the architecture, as well as by defining the structures
of the software running on the hardware devices. A prototype was developed based on the proposed architecture and its application cases are later shown in a voice-activated coffee dispenser with a CANOpen protocol and in a wireless network of sensors and actuators with ZigBee-enabled devices. Finally, the deployment procedures of the prototype are described in a generalized application case. / Com o aumento das demandas de mercado a nível mundial, em resposta ao crescimento econômico, os sistemas de automação industrial tornaram-se maiores e mais complexos a fim de atendê-las, o que também aumentou o número de falhas e a necessidade de manutenção. No entanto, as soluções em automação muitas vezes envolvem configurações proprietárias dos fabricantes de equipamentos industriais, prevenindo sistemas de automação de serem reutilizados em diferentes aplicações industriais sem grandes esforços de desenvolvimento. Então, sistemas reutilizáveis em um grande número de aplicações industriais diferentes são desejados por muitas empresas, visto que se podem reduzir os custos com o desenvolvimento, manutenção e treinamento, ainda mais se também permitem coleta remota de informação sobre seu estado de funcionamento. O presente trabalho apresenta uma arquitetura reutilizável, composta de hardware e de software, para monitorar e controlar os sistemas de automação. Esta, por sua vez, não se limita a uma única aplicação, podendo ser ligada a outras, desde que uma porta de acesso ao protocolo
de automação esteja disponível. Isto é alcançado através da utilização de tecnologias padronizadas nas interfaces entre os componentes da arquitetura, bem como definindo as estruturas para o software em execução nos mesmos. Um protótipo foi desenvolvido com base na arquitetura proposta e seus casos de aplicação são apresentados em uma máquina industrial de café, ativada por voz e com protocolo CANOpen, bem como em uma rede de sensores e atuadores sem fio, com dispositivos ZigBee. Finalmente, o processo de implantação é descrito em um caso de aplicação generalizado.

Previous issue date: 2012 / Resumo: Na presente tese foram abordados problemas no contexto da produção de etanol de primeira e segunda geração. No caso de etanol de segunda geração foi abordado o problema de melhorar a eficiência da hidrolise enzimática, com as seguintes contribuições: (1) otimização da carga enzimática utilizando técnicas de modelagem por redes neurais. (2) substituição de um modelo com limitações na representatividade dos pontos experimentais obtido por desenho experimental pela superfície de resposta de um modelo de redes neurais que permite a exploração da região do ótimo no espaço de fatores e respostas. Os resultados obtidos mostram (1) boa precisão para a localização das coordenadas da região ótima de trabalho. (2) um mapeamento da evolução do processo com localização do ótimo global utilizando algoritmos genéticos e técnicas de computação evolutiva. No caso dos processos de produção de etanol de primeira geração foi estudado o problema do controle com modelo de um processo de fermentação continua com extração de etanol utilizando vácuo quando não se tem modelo fenomenológico disponível com as seguintes contribuições e resultados: (1) foi desenvolvida uma abordagem que integrou redes neurais artificiais, com o controle preditivo com modelo (MPC). (2) foram desenvolvidos modelos empíricos do processo com redes neurais artificiais (3) foi desenvolvida uma abordagem que utiliza o "conhecimento aprendido" pelas redes neurais o qual e armazenado em pesos sinápticos e bias. (4) foram desenvolvidos vários modelos empíricos de redes neurais para o monitoramento das concentrações de etanol que podem ser utilizados para desenvolver software sensores. (5) foram implementadas diferentes estruturas de controle preditivo com diferentes modelos internos de redes neurais para os controladores, com otimiza dor linear e não linear para o caso de estudo. Nos diferentes capítulos em que foram implementadas estruturas de controle integrando as redes neurais com a tecnologia MPC, se mostrou que, a abordagem desenvolvida e eficiente para os projetos dos sistemas de controle com modelo empírico / Abstract: In this thesis were studied problems in the context of ethanol production of first and second generation. In the case of second generation ethanol was studied the problem of improving the enzymatic hydrolysis efficiency, with the following contributions: 1) optimization of enzyme loading by using modeling techniques based on neural networks, 2) substitution of a model with limited representation capacity of the experimental points which was obtained by using experimental design by the response surface model of a neural network that allows the exploration of the space of factors and responses. The results show: 1) good accuracy in locating the coordinates of the optimum working region, 2) the mapping of the evolution of the process with the location of the global optimum by using genetic algorithms and evolutionary computing techniques. In case of the production of first generation ethanol was studied the problem of the control with process model of a fermentation process with continuous extraction of ethanol by using a vacuum system when there is no a phenomenological model available with the following contributions and results: 1) It was developed an approach in which were integrated artificial neural networks with model predictive control (MPC). 2) It were developed empirical process models by using artificial neural networks 3) It was developed an approach that uses the "learned knowledge" by neural networks which is stored in synaptic weights and bias. 4) It were developed several empirical models of neural networks for monitoring concentrations of ethanol that can be used to develop software sensors. 5) It were implemented different predictive control structures with different internal models based on neural networks for controllers with linear and non-linear optimizer to be applied on the case of study. Robotic process automation - An evaluative model for comparing RPA-toolsBornegrim, Lucas, Holmquist, Gustav January 2020 (has links)
This research studies the three market-leading RPA-tools, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism and UiPath, in order to fill the lack of literature regarding methods for evaluating and comparing RPA-tools. Design science research was performed by designing and creating artefacts in the form of process implementations and an evaluative model. A typical process representing a common area of use was implemented using each of the three RPA-tools, in order to create an evaluative model. Official documentation, along with the three implementations, were studied. Evaluative questions specific to RPA-tool evaluation were created based on a quality model for product quality found in the ISO/IEC 25010 standard. Characteristics dependant on organisational context were not included in the evaluation, in order to create an evaluative model which is not dependant on any specific business environment. The results of the research provide knowledge of (1) how RPA-tools can be implemented and (2) the differences that exist between the three market-leading RPA tools. The research also contributes in the form of a method for investigating and evaluating the RPA-tools. When creating the evaluative model, some of the criteria found in the ISO/IEC 25010 quality model were concluded to be of low relevance and, therefore, not included in the model. By analysing and evaluating the created evaluative model, using a theoretical concept of digital resources and their evaluation, the validity of the evaluative model was reinforced. From an evaluative perspective, this research emphasises the need to appropriate and change existing evaluative methods in order to successfully evaluate the most relevant characteristics of RPA-tools. / Denna forskning studerar de tre marknadsledande RPA-verktygen, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism och UiPath, för att fylla bristen på litteratur om metoder för utvärdering och jämförelse av RPA-verktyg. Design science research genomfördes genom att utforma och skapa artefakter i form av processimplementeringar och en utvärderingsmodell. En typisk process som representerar ett vanligt användningsområde implementerades med användning av vart och ett av de tre RPA-verktygen för att skapa en utvärderingsmodell. Officiell dokumentation, tillsammans med de tre implementeringarna, studerades. Utvärder-ingsfrågor specifika för RPA-verktygsutvärdering skapades baserat på en kvalitetsmodell för produktkvalitet som finns i ISO/IEC 25010-standarden. Egenskaper som är beroende av organisatoriskt sammanhang ingick inte i utvärderingen för att skapa en utvärderingsmodell som inte är beroende av någon specifik affärsmiljö. Resultaten av forskningen ger kunskap om (1) hur RPA-verktyg kan implementeras och (2) skillnaderna som finns mellan de tre marknadsledande RPA-verktygen. Forskningen bidrar också i form av en metod för att undersöka och utvärdera RPA-verktygen. Vid skapandet av utvärderingsmodellen drogs slutsatsen att några av kriterierna i kvalitetsmodellen i ISO/IEC 25010 var av låg relevans och de är därför inte inkluderade i den resulterande modellen. Genom att analysera och utvärdera den skapade utvärderingsmodellen, med hjälp av ett teoretiskt koncept av digitala resurser och deras utvärdering, förstärktes utvärderingsmodellens validitet. Ur ett utvärderingsperspektiv betonar denna forskning behovet av att anpassa och ändra befintliga utvärderingsmetoder för att framgångsrikt utvärdera de mest relevanta egenskaperna hos RPA-verktyg.

El presente proyecto tiene como objetivo diseñar una solución de inteligencia de negocios (BI) aplicado a una organización sin fines de lucro; de ahora en adelante llamada ONG. El presente proyecto busca automatizar dos procesos dentro de la ONG. Estos procesos corresponden a la implementación de un proyecto de la ONG llamado 'Lectores de paso'. Así mismo, se busca que el entregable les permita tomar decisiones de manera más ágil y dinámica, dejando de lado cuellos de botella operativos.
Para la realización de este proyecto se investigaron soluciones de inteligencia de negocios aplicadas a Pequeñas y Medianas Empresas (PYMEs). Esto debido a su gran similitud con la ONG respecto a términos de tamaño, capacidades y complejidad de la organización. A partir de este punto, se pudo identificar los principales retos y causas que impiden una implementación de este tipo dentro de la organización.
La solución planteada emplea herramientas como Pentaho Data Integration Community Edition y Google Data Studio, ambas herramientas de acceso gratuito. Así mismo, empleando datos provistos por la organización se ejecutaron pruebas de concepto que nos permitieron validar la solución.
Finalmente, una vez realizada una prueba de concepto, se logró reducir el tiempo operativo en los dos procesos objetivos. Además, se dotó a la organización de un flujo de trabajo que les permita exportar sus datos, tomar mejores decisiones y realizar cambios de alcance a la hora de implementar su proyecto ‘Lectores de paso’. / The current project aims to design a business intelligence (BI) solution applied to a non-profit organization, from now on called NGO. The current project seeks to automate two processes within the NGO. These processes correspond to the implementation of a project of the NGO called 'Lectores de paso'. Likewise, the deliverable wants to allow them to make decisions in a more agile and dynamic way, leaving aside operational bottlenecks.
For the realization of this project, we researched business intelligence solutions applied to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Due to its similarity with the NGO in terms of size, capabilities, and complexity of the organization. From this point, it was possible to identify the main challenges and causes that prevent the implementation of this type within the organization.
The solution uses Pentaho Data Integration Community Edition and Google Data Studio as tools, both tools are free of charge. Also, using data provided by the organization, executed proof of concept that allowed us to validate the solution.
Finally, once the proof of concept was carried out, it was possible to reduce the driving time in the two target processes. Likewise, now the organization can work with a workflow that allows them to export their data, make better decisions, and make quick changes in scope when implementing their project 'Lectores de paso'. / Tesis

Samhället genomgår en digital transformation och inom offentlig sektor är en centralmålsättning att ta till sig de nya möjligheterna för att effektivisera sin verksamhet. Ökaddigitalisering har föranlett att automatisering av processer genom implementation avrobotiserad processautomatisering (RPA) blivit en metod vilken i snabb takt vuxit ipopularitet då detta erbjuder ett flertal möjligheter för organisationer. Dock är denna metodinte utan sina begränsningar och utmaningar. Syftet med denna studie är därför att utforska demöjligheter och utmaningar som föreligger för RPA i kontexten av offentlig sektor. För dettatillämpas en abduktiv, kvalitativ metod genom en flerfallsstudie. Resultatet visar attimplementation av RPA kan vara i enlighet med mål och visioner angående digitalisering ochautomatisering inom offentlig sektor. Vidare visas att det finns möjligheter för RPA genomeffektivisering och kvalitetssäkring i automatiserade processer samt effektivisering ochrationalisering i verksamheten, även om rationalisering genom RPA synes ovanligt inomoffentlig sektor. Istället används RPA här vanligen för att frigöra tid för medarbetare attengagera sig i mer värdeskapande aktiviteter, vilket även rapporteras kunna ökaarbetsnöjdheten hos medarbetare. Samtidigt visar studien på utmaningar för RPA vilka ihuvudsak relaterar till att under implementationen identifiera lämpliga processer därkriterium av stabilitet för RPA beskrivs som särskilt utmanande att uppfylla. Vidare visarstudien att det kan vara utmanande att uttömmande nyttja kapaciteten för roboten. / Society is experiencing a digital transformation and in the public sector a central objectiveexists in utilizing the new possibilities to rationalize their operations. Increased digitizationhas caused a surge in popularity for automation of processes through robotic processautomation (RPA) due to the many opportunities it offers organizations. However, thismethod is not without its limitations and challenges. The purpose of this study is therefore toexplore the opportunities and challenges that accompany the implementation of RPA in thecontext of the public sector. To this end, an abductive, qualitative method is applied through amultiple case study. The result shows that the implementation of RPA can be in line withobjectives and visions regarding digitalisation and automatisation within the public sector.Furthermore, it is shown that there are opportunities for RPA to increase the effectiveness andquality of processes and to enable rationalisation in the organisations, although rationalisationthough layoffs seem like an uncommon use of RPA in the public sector. Instead, RPA is morecommonly used to offload employees so that they instead can engage in activities whichcreate more value, which also shows promise in increasing employee satisfaction.Simultaneously, there are challenges for the implementation of RPA in regard to identifyingprocesses that are suitable for automation through RPA which mainly relate to fulfillingcriteria regarding stability in the environment in which RPA is implemented. Furthermore,the study shows that it may be challenging to exhaustively make use of the capacity of the RPA.

Desarrollo de un Sistema Mecatrónica para la Extracción de Cáscara del Aguaymanto / Development of a Mechatronic System for Extraction of Aguaymanto ShellVásquez Villalobos, Alejandro, Castro Maximiliano, Mario Antonio 23 July 2021 (has links)
Este trabajo propone un sistema mecatrónico orientado a la extracción de la cáscara del aguaymanto. El sistema propuesto apunta a reducir el tiempo de descascarado de la fruta, que en la actualidad es realizado de forma manual. La idea es ampliar la producción y mantener estándares de calidad del producto. El sistema propuesto se compone de un sistema mecánico de distribución y ordenamiento por vibración en una zaranda, que apunta a posicionar el fruto haciendo uso de filtros mecánicos, siendo finalmente ordenados y distribuidos en seis líneas de producción. Asimismo, se compone de un sistema de transporte y alineamiento previo descascarado, este último se encarga de variar la posición del aguaymanto hasta ser ingresado al sistema de extracción de cáscara. En caso la orientación no sea la adecuada, la unidad de extracción en conjunto con el sistema de alineamiento ubicará al aguaymanto en sentido lateral, ideal para la extracción. Para el proceso de validación del sistema se tomó en cuenta el número de frutos procesados por unidad de tiempo y la calidad del producto obtenido. En este caso se obtuvo una tasa de 0.5 kg/min y un porcentaje de frutos correctamente descascarado de 93.8%. Ambos parámetros de medición de desempeño están dentro del rango de valores establecidos por las empresas productoras, siendo la tasa un valor escalable directamente proporcional al número de líneas de producción. / This work proposes a mechatronic system oriented to the extraction of the shell of the aguaymanto. The proposed system aims to reduce the time for shelling the fruit, which is currently done manually. The idea is to expand the production and maintain product quality standards. The proposed system consists of a mechanical distribution and ordering system by vibration in a sieve, which aims to position the product using mechanical filters, being finally ordered and distributed in six production lines. Likewise, it consists of a transport system and alignment before the peeled. This one is responsible for varying the position of the aguaymanto until it is entered into the shell extraction system. In case the orientation is not correct, the extraction unit together with the lateral alignment system will locate the ideal position of the aguaymanto for extraction. For the validation process of the system, the number of fruits processed per unit of time and the quality of the product obtained were taken into account. In this case, a rate of 0.5 kg / min and a percentage of correctly shelled fruits of 93.8% were obtained. Both performance measurement parameters are within the range of values established by the production companies, the rate being a scalable value directly proportional to the number of production lines. / Tesis

Este proyecto tiene como objeto de estudio a la empresa Unilene SAC, su principal rubro es la producción y comercialización de instrumentos médicos a nivel nacional e internacional. El proceso de estudio es el proceso de Gestión de Ventas Horizontales, el cual cuenta en su mayoría con actividades manuales, dependencias con otras áreas y colaboradores.
El principal problema identificado es el registro de pedidos durante las visitas a los clientes, los representantes médicos realizan registros manuales y luego son enviados a los asistentes comerciales quienes ingresan al sistema ERP desde la oficina principal. Debido a la carga laboral de los asistentes, algunas veces estos pedidos no son registrados y otras pueden tomar hasta un día en ser atendidos. Asimismo, los representantes médicos no tienen visibilidad de sus metas y comisiones que puedan generar. Estos problemas generan perdidas de pedidos y por ende posibles ventas, demora en los tiempos de atención, malestar en los clientes y que los representantes médicos tengan que dedicar tiempo a otras tareas.
En base al análisis de la problemática se propone la implementación de un sistema web responsivo basado en una nube hibrida privada para la automatización del canal de ventas integrado a su actual solución de ERP. Esta solución permitirá automatizar las actividades manuales, reducir los tiempos de atención, incrementar el rendimiento de los colaboradores y brindar visibilidad de sus metas y comisiones. Todo esto alineado con los objetivos estratégicos de la organización y dando un valor agregado a la actual plataforma on-premise implementada por la empresa / This project has as object of study the Unilene SAC company, its main line of business is the production and commercialization of medical instruments at the national and international level. The study process is the Horizontal Sales Management process, which mostly has manual activities, dependencies with other areas and collaborators.
The main problem identified is the order entry during visits to clients, medical representatives enter orders manually and then they are sent to commercial assistants who access the ERP system from the main office. Due to the workload of the assistants, sometimes these orders are not entered, and others can take up to a day to be fulfilled. Also, medical representatives do not gain visibility of the goals and commissions they can generate. These problems generate lost orders and therefore possible sales, delay in service times, discomfort in customers and time spent of medical representatives on other tasks.
Based on the analysis of the problem, the implementation of a responsive web system based on a private hybrid cloud is proposed for the automation of the sales channel integrated into its current ERP solution. This solution will automate manual activities, reduce service times, increase employee performance, and provide visibility of their goals and commissions. All this in accordance with the strategic objectives of the organization and giving added value to the current on-premise platform implemented by the company. / Tesis

The subject of this diploma thesis is the design of a conveyor superstructure of a collaborative mobile robot MiR. The first part is a theoretical research basis focused on mobile collaborative technologies and information related to Mobile industrial Robots. The following is a practical part built on previous acquired knowledge. The key issue of the solution is the logistics transport of the PCB magazine in the field of SMT industry. There are created two structural design variants of the superstructure arrangement for the transport of two binders and the most suitable variant is selected on the basis of the multicriteria basic method. The selected alternative of the conveyor top module is then subjected to design calculations. In order to obtain a comprehensive overview of the prototype production, the following section contains drawing documentation, including relevant comments, an economic cost estimate and a risk analysis.
