Tecendo o estético e o sensível através do bordado na literatura infantil brasileira / Weaving the aesthetic and sensitive through the embroidery on Brazilian children\'s literature

Maia, Mara Jane Sousa 04 February 2010 (has links)
Childrens literature brings two different concerns: the story told by the verbal text, and the one brought by the images of the book cover and of the book. The visual text can awake the senses by an aesthetic experience while what is written on the book can take the reader to a comprehension of the world and of the cultural and moral values. The learning is made possible by different matters and discourses; from whats written to whats touched, from whats read to whats experienced. This essay was delimited to the analyses of five books made specific to children, with illustrations made by a group of embroideress from Minas Gerais called Matizes-Dumont: Exercícios de ser criança, by Manoel de Barros; A moça tecelã, by Marina Colasanti; Menino do rio doce, by Ziraldo; A bola e o goleiro, by Jorge Amado; A menina, a gaiola e a bicicleta/Céu de passarinho, by Rubem Alves and Carlos Brandão. The theoretical basis used for the analyses of this subject is the French Semiotics, also with its deployments such as the Semiotics of Passion, Semiotics of Arts, the Enunciation, and the Tensile Semiotics. In reality, the Tensile Semiotics one goes freely through all the analyses as a sense, or meaning, effect. The possibility of working with different forms of analyses brought up the importance of the material. It shows the strength of the verbal text, and, also, the importance of the material as a work of art since it offers to the readers a number of images that awakes the esthetic and aesthetic. The dialogues are plurilinguistic and polisensorial. The figuratively, well noticed on this essay, follows the developments made by Denis Bertrand. Other important scholar for this research is Jean-Marie Floch, and its ways of working over the visual/pictorial, adding new categories (constitutionals and relational) of analyses for the expression plane. We follow the trails of the esthetic based on the nature of the analyzed objects, since its expressed over ordinary way of working. This course presents an important door on Algidas Julien Greimas book, De l\'imperfection (Of the Imperfection), wich analyses texts-objects of esthetic value, gathering its meaning from the sense, and the expression plane became the main force on the work piece. His descriptions about some literary texts shows us the elasticity of a discourse, going beyond the surface of the text. Yet on the plastic art field, other theoretical sources are present, so it would enrich and enlarge the analyses, always trying to keep the interchange between semiotics, and other forms of analyses of the pictorial. From all these technical information about the plastic art, that contains its own language, its possible for us to show the screen of reading of the text-object. Working with childrens texts forces us to have consistent information about the theoretical universe of this literature, even though the essay goes through the semiotics field. We understand from that the choice of using a book of this field, including specific works about childrens literature, illustration and sketch. This way, each book was analyzed according to a theory of the discursive semiotics or of the plastic art semiotics. On the book A Moça Tecelã, we work with the passions on the verbal text, trying to pay attention to the effects of the sense by the modal, the aspectual, and the structural qualifiers that change the pathetic reaction of the subject. By Manoel de Barros syncretic work we describe the strategies of the enunciation, showing the resources used for the construction of the verbal and visual texts. The intertextuality on Ziraldos work is noticed by his dialog with childrens works made by the north-American author Mark Twain, adding, on the analyses, the esthetic experiences related to the passions. The last chapter talks about the images, creating a counterpoint between the covers of the books A bola e o goleiro, and A menina, a gaiola e a bicicleta/Céu de passarinhos, based on Floch and his theoretical successors. With this essay, weve tried to add possible ways of reading the childrens literature and plastic art using the French Semiotics theoretical tools.

Figures du feu dans l'art contemporain et la guerre : sous le signe de Prométhée, du Phénix et d'Empédocle / Figures of fire in contemporary art and war : under the sign of Prometheus, the Phoenix and Empedocles

Raad, Fadi 13 December 2016 (has links)
This Ph.D. dissertation deals with the problem of fire used as a tool in the contemporary plastic art creations. In fact, since the 1960s, an increased use of fire is noted within new forms of artistic expression. The emphasis is put particularly on the “fire of war” which, by changing the lives ofthe artists, transforms their creations as well .Throughout the dissertation, the analysis of personal pieces of art, observed through the context of the war experienced by the artist, confirms the above finding. The sections of the dissertation refer to some mythical characters with close relationship with the image of fire. Hence, they are referenced “Under the sign of Prometheus”,“Under the sign of the Phoenix” and “Under the sign of Empedocles”.

Objets : Projet et Maquette dans l'oeuvre de Le Corbusier / Objects : The Project and the model in the work of Le Corbusier

Une main tendue à l’ère du numérique / The architectural project and its representation are indivisible, as are the tools used at the beginning of the creation process; hence the interest in their study. In the models made under the supervision of Le Corbusier, aspects such as materials, scales, presentation and objectives reach another dimension, since this worknot onlycomes from an architect but also from a plastic artist. As Jean Louis Cohenpointed out, models can be seen as having two forms, which in French are calledœuvre and ouvrage. In this sense,a model is more than the resulting object of a scaled representation of a building; it is also an intellectual work, like another state of that architecture. In Le Corbusier's case, the identification of objects of different sizes (stones, bottles, matchboxes, shells, cells, landforms, etc.) with his architecture, painting and sculpture maintains the scaling metamorphosis that characterises his creative process. Models appear as intermediaries between the poetic values of those inspiring objects and the future architecture. As Le Corbusier and his collaborators were trained in Arts and Crafts, models are created with methods and techniques used in Fine Arts and Arts and Crafts. As a result, those creation methods are transferred to the architectural works in process, as well as to the drawings. Models favour an initial three-dimensional experience, which is especially relevant taking into account the pictorial condition of space in Le Corbusier's work. Beyond illustrating execution times for the designed building, the assembly or disassembly of those anatomies—represented by photographs or films—show the relations of its construction with the dematerialisation of the object through filming, typical in the art of the 20th century and, therefore, with the represented architecture.Through the comparative study of models and drawings, several relations between both tools have been established which prove the active role of the architectural model in the projecting process of Le Corbusier. In order to compare the used data (planes, letters, agendas, bibliographies, photographs, etc.), a database was created containing the over two hundred identified models. A compilation of the most significant models can be found attached to the document of the doctoral thesis. This thesis is organised in chapters titled by different artistic or craft methods, as a testimony to the manual nature of these works. The chapters are organised in two parts —Plastique and Texturique—depending on the ability to represent the inside of the object-architecture. In addition tothe proper review of Le Corbusier's important legacy, it is relevant to reconsider the relationship between form and craft, which was dealt with in works read by this artist and architect. Among those works,Henri Focillon's "Vie des formes. Eloge de la main" outstands and links with current thinkers such as Richard Sennett. A hand reaching out to the digital time

Rama Sotos, Tamara 28 October 2021 (has links)
[EN] This doctoral thesis explores and reflects on the concept of the kaleidoscopic view, assuming this gaze in a broad sense; that is, beyond what is observed in a kaleidoscope. Specifically, the object of study determines the repercussions of this kaleidoscopic polyvision in plastic art and animation, with an image shaped by mobility, symmetrical reiteration, fragmentation and reintegration. Moreover, the kaleidoscopic dynamics are intensified by subverting the orders through the variation of certain elements. In this way, the significance of the most unique patterns is exposed, incorporating elements of modification or rupture in the disintegration of the kaleidoscopic language, with the aim of deconstructing the arrangement of the network by altering the symmetry. Similarly, the focus is shifted to less linear structures as alternatives to the continuous, uniform, closed patterns, through a decentring and greater opening. In the creative processes, a set of works in a contemporary context can generate multiple facets and diverse readings that stimulate creativity. Therefore, this repercussion will be analysed through significant works of plastic art and animation films, and applying alternative methods that can alter the conventional structure. Furthermore, there will be a conceptual and formal exploration and contextualisation of this vision, together with a discussion of optical toys linked to the reflex image, including the kaleidoscope. By so doing, the evolution of the object and its optics are analysed, passing through small and large artefacts, examining both the common elements and the differences, until we reach the confluence of these optics in the present-day large-format artefacts. This approach is intended to open the gaze and allow for a broader, interconnected and diverse understanding, incorporating aspects of evolution. At the same time, it is shown how this optic is nowadays is ultimately applied to installations or innovative artistic intervention. At the same time, it can be seen that it is not only a vision in art, but also the idea of growth extends out to life, relating to the environment as a series of woven, interacting patterns. In this sense, the concept of "extimacy" (extimité), a term coined by Jacques Lacan in the 20th century, is applied, as it expresses the interrelationship between exterior/interior in a game of inversion, where the intimate passes to the exterior and vice versa. In the thesis, this notion is extrapolated to the art of the kaleidoscope because it externalises something that is inside, and within the kaleidoscopic view there is a synchrony between the external and internal world that conveys this vision. / Rama Sotos, T. Sochař Franta Úprka a jeho sepulkrální tvorba / Sculptor Franta Úprka and his sepulchral works

Eretová, Monika January 2013 (has links)
This dissertation deals with sepulchral artworks of Franta Úprka (1868-1929), the Czech sculptor. At first his life is described. Franta Úprka was born in Kněždub, south-eastern Moravia. Beginning of his artistic activity belonged to the end of 19th century, when he worked as an assistant of two famous Czech sculptors - A. P. Wagner and Bohuslav Schnirch. His own career took place in the first two decades of the 20th century. Name Úprka is best known for Joža Uprka, Moravian painter and Franta's elder brother. Although Franta Úprka lived and worked in Prague from 1890th, the midpoint of his artistic interests and main theme of his sculptures was depicting people, traditions and subjects from his home country, Moravian Slovakia. Moravian Slovakia was specific part of Moravian countryside full of long lasting and still surviving folklore, folk traditions, peculiar vivacious characters and intact nature. As Auguste Rodin said during his visit of Moravian Slovakia in 1902 it was kind a Greek Helada overflowing with bright colours, sunshine and cheerful relaxed atmosphere. On the other side, common people lived there their uneasy rural lives with all ordinary worries and pleasures. Both sights of the issue were solved by Úprka's artworks. Very specific and the most significant part of his chef-d'oeuvre...
