Šímová, Karolína January 2014 (has links)
This thesis deals with the phenomenon of the suburban summer resorts and the recreational activities of the inhabitants of Prague in the second half of 19th century and first decades of 20th century. At first, the work introduces the following topics: a general characteristic of the industrialization era, an origin and initial development of the middle class, a villa with the garden on the periphery of the industrial city as a specific manifestation of the middle class culture, a phenomenon of the garden cities, recreational activities as a specific way of the middle class recreation. Then, the summer resort is introduced. This summer resort is Černošice, one of the most famous summer resorts of this era, there were other famous summer resorts of the inhabitants of Prague situated in his neighbourhood, for example Všenory or Dobřichovice. This work is looking for the answers to the following questions: What kind of factors or events led to the birth of this summer resort? (for example: When was the summer resort created? Why was it atractive for the inhabitants of Prague?)? How did the life in the summer resort look like (for example: What kind of recreational activities were the visitors of the summer resort engaged in? 地方治理與系絡連結:以桃園市兩蔣文化園區為例 / Local Governance and Contextual Linkage:A Case Study of the Culture Resort of the Chiangs in Taoyuan City

Liang, Yi Ting Unknown Date (has links)
The Culture Resort of the Chiangs carried the troubles and memories of KMT and Communist Party of China between the two straits, going through the period of the martial law (1945-1987), democratization after martial law, de-Chiang-ization and subsequently restarting. Originally, the Chiangs’ Park designed for the Chiang’s family, now it becomes a public attraction; meanwhile, it reveals from the traditional top-down direct “government” to a pluralistic participation “governance” of the process. It is noteworthy that the development of the Culture Resort of the Chiangs has an interaction between the government, private sector and civil society. Besides, the political context affected the Chiangs’ Park in the development process. The “trust” relationship between each actor is the basic element for collaboration. At the same time; the certain “consensus” of the Chiangs plays an important role of consolidation and future development of the park. Therefore, this study uses governance theory as a spindle, with the historical trend of the Culture Resort of the Chiangs, depicting the process from government to governance. Addtonally, the Chiangs’ Park rooted in Daxi, I use local governance theory to analyze the various actors: the public sector, private sector, local communities and civil society in the operation of the Culture Resort of the Chiangs; finally, I use “embeddedness theory” as the foundation, to explore the park's formatiom and interaction relationships.

From doctrine to practice: responsibility to protect and military intervention in Libya 2011

Tahir, Bushra 15 March 2016 (has links)
The intervention in Libya is the best example to date to judge the implementation of the Responsibility to Protect. In 2011, public demonstrations started in Libya seeking political and economic reforms in the country. In return, the Libyan President Maummar Al-Qaddafi threatened mass atrocities in Libya. This allowed the UNSC to sanction the use of force against Qaddafi’s regime in order to protect civilians. First, under resolution 1970 (2011), the UNSC referred the case to the International Criminal Court and applied sanctions. Second, via resolution 1973 (2011), the application of force was approved for the express purpose of “protecting civilians.” This thesis assess whether the military intervention in Libya in 2011 was R2P case. This question is answered by an analysis based upon the UNSC’s Resolutions, Council’s proceedings, and other official documents. / May 2016

Why Are We Still Listening to this Dead British Guy: An Analysis of Emergency Liquidity Assistance in Germany During the Sovereign Debt Crisis

Gillenwater, Nia R 01 January 2016 (has links)
Germany’s position of power within the European Union disguises how impacted the German economy was by the 2008 Financial Crisis and Europe’s subsequent Sovereign Debt Crisis. Two of Germany’s major banks-Commerzbank and Bayerische Landesbank- suffered major losses and required emergency liquidity assistance (ELA) to survive. Walter Bagehot wrote the theory underpinning lenders of last resort (LLRs) in 1873 but how has the development of systemically important banks affected the usefulness of Bagehot’s theory? This paper aims to explain why Germany is in need of updated LLR recommendations through an analysis of the ELA Germany at large, Commerzbank and Bayerische Landesbank received. It also aims to empirically prove the stigma and public distrust of ELA through a regression of Commerzbank’s daily stock returns using an augmented Fama/French model. I find that Bagehot’s theory and recommendations are out of date for our current global financial sector. I cannot empirically prove any stigma or public distrust of Commerzbank, there is no relationship between Commerzbank stock returns and the augmented Fama/French factors.

Kulturní dědictví ve vztahu ke škole:Situace v severním Katalánsku / Heritage education and learning: Cases from the North Catalonia

Pavlová, Anežka January 2011 (has links)
Heritage education and learning: Cases from the North Catalonia Annotation: My thesis deals with the options of the cultural and historical education in France, in particular in the North Catalonia. The work represents the relation between regional monuments and schools. In the first part, I define the term cultural heritage as such, than I focus on two cultural resorts in the North Catalonia. The second part of the thesis illustrates the connection between the monuments and schools in France, emphasizing the project teaching. The patrimony, being not studied today as a separate subject, remains an important part of one's education. However, the knowledge acquisition offers a large variety of teaching styles. Lastly, my work shows the educational services with concrete realisations of the projects in cooperation with schools. Key words cultural heritage, learning, project teaching, knowledge, cultural resort, educational service, cooperation

La médiation touristique / Tourism mediation

Filloz, Claude - Valia 01 October 2012 (has links)
It may be said that this thesis aims at understanding the spatial articulation between tourism and communication in such situations as those in which an individual subject – expressing the whole peculiarity of his or her desire through telling or practices – and collective actors are brought together. My reflection thus organises itself in accordance with the modalities of the articulation between the three dimensions of tourism: the practical dimension, the symbolic dimension and the imaginary dimension.Tourist activity consists in travelling and in visiting a site, a place or a destination; tourist mediation means the range of activities that are organised around tourism or those that are associated to it. Tourist mediation concerns the agents and the practices in the field of tourism. In this context, I wish to show that tourist mediation structures the perceptions, the interpretations and the practises of space.I address the definitions; give an overview of academic research on tourism and address the notions of tourism through the etymology of its main words (tour, tourism, and tourist) and through the differences that exist between tourism and other notions similar to it such as leisure, vacations, holiday and travelling. These notions are necessary to the comprehending of tourist mediation.I intend to lay the foundations of the field of tourist mediation and to demonstrate that the social practise of tourism is a form of mediation. I will present the tourist objects that structure the tourist practises of space. The structures of tourist mediation will then be laid; this will enable me to craft a “critical theory” of tourist mediation. With a view to understanding how the practises and the scenes of tourism organise, I will subsequently widen the concept by presenting the operators, the agents and the policies of the tourist organisation; the examples and the studies of the latter are mainly concerned with mediation and mediators in the case of France. I situate tourist mediation in relation to the experience of otherness and to the relationship to the others, to wanderlust, to the tourist imagination and to cultural imagination too. I then describe and give a two-point analysis of the tourist information system. The first point is concerned with the enunciation of space produced by the tourist, the tourists and by the tourist mediators (the enunciation of the guide’s discourse for instance) through various multimedia telling. The second point is concerned with the enunciation, through the tourist media (non-specialised or tourism media, tourist guides), by the speakers (e.g. operators and private or public agents of the tourist organisation) of the communication strategies and of the tourist descriptive signing. This discourse analysis relates to examples of textual and/or iconic documents.

Le pouvoir des banques centrales face aux défis des marchés financiers / The stance of central banks vis-à-vis financial markets

Bakhit, Salma 23 June 2014 (has links)
The thesis proposes, in a first part, to describe the origin of the debate on the need for a central bank up until the recent formulations. They were examined the elements which have posed the bases of an "ultimate lender" and promoted the maturation of this function, as were highlighted the results accumulated over two centuries. Our attention is drawn to the Federal Reserve of the United States. The economists are always in search for solutions to prevent financial crises. It has thus been proposed to extend the dashboard of central banks as to contain asset prices in a macro and micro-prudential approach. In parallel, in order to support this debate, we analyze the mechanisms by which the monetary policy affects the real and financial variables of the economy, which also affirm the role that can be assumed in theory by a central bank on financial markets. The second part focuses on the recurrence and intensity of financial crises. We consider the paradox of excess liquidity and over-indebtedness, with an emphasis on properties of financial markets becoming more vulnerable and their recent development. The contribution of the thesis in this stage consists of checking whether the central bank is responsible of abusive and excessive behavior on the financial markets by the abundant creation of liquidity. Our empirical study should help to answer this question through an econometric modeling and statistical tests (including the Chow test) applied to an active monetary policy (type Taylor rule). In this way, our research on the actions of the Fed aims to forge an opinion on the profession of modern central bankers, and perhaps on the future of central banks themselves.

Étude des facteurs psychosociaux permettant de prédire le turnover volontaire et l’engagement au travail des travailleurs saisonniers : étude en station de sports d’hiver / Study of psychological factors for predicting turnover and work engagement to seasonal jobs : study in ski resort

Jay, Mathieu 05 December 2018 (has links)
Our research focuses on seasonal workers in ski resorts in winter. Little research has been done in this area.. Yet seasonal workers in stations are numerous (400 000) (Aboubadra-Pauly et al.,2016) and are exposed to specific stressors (job insecurity, isolation, climate, accommodation, social invisibility, etc.) which often lead them to abandon their workstation. Dropping out can be perceived as a failure that can lead to situations of insecurity, loss of social connection and low self-esteem. Workers abandoning their posts also have significant economic consequences for companies. It is thus necessary to study, in a forward-looking approach, the personal factors (personality, age, family situation), context (accomodation, job, pay, etc.) and psychosocialfactors (psychological demands, decisional latitude, social support, Person-Organization fit (PO fit), job satisfaction) predicting a good adjustment to seasonal occupations. Our adjustment indicators are : voluntary turnover (during the season) and engagement at work (measured with the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale). One hundred and sixty-one subjects were evaluated 3 times (before, during, and at the end of the season). The results show that the personality ofseasonal workers (according to Big Five taxonomy) has little influence on turnover and the engagement scale. We also highlight the mediating effect of job satisfaction between the PO Fit and turnover. Furthermore, we find direct links between professional stressors, instruction adequacy, responsibilities, wage, accomodation, work experience, coping strategies, PO Fit and work engagement. The links between our two criteria (commitment and voluntary turnover) arealso studied. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
