The influence of motivation and job satisfaction in connection with organizational changes

Standar, Patrik January 2014 (has links)
This empirical study aims to determine whether Linnaeus University's formation in 2010 and subsequent reorganization has affected the employees' perceived motivation and job satisfaction. A combined approach was used in which both quantitative and qualitative questions were asked in the survey form. 101 survey responses is the basis for the analysis and these have been associated with SDT-theory in order to draw further conclusions. The study shows that among the respondents, there is a frustration that is possibly related to the two organizational changes. They feel that they have lost confidence in management as a result of not being part of decision making. The study also conveys a very fragmented picture, members of the organization perceive that they have very different possibilities to peform well, participate and have clear goals to work towards.

Effects of different leadership styles on performance and state anxiety in football players

Hajireza, Arman January 2023 (has links)
The present experimental study aimed to investigate the effect of a controlling leadership style, in contrast to an autonomy supportive leadership style on performance and state anxiety in student football players. The sample consisted of 35 participants, 25 men and 10 women, between 16 to 20 years. The experiment had an interventional effect with pre and post measurements. There were two intervention groups and one control group. The intervention groups consisted of a controlling leadership group and an autonomy supportive leadership group. Pre- and post-test performance was measured by means of four different football skill exercises with binary outcomes. There were four exercises and three measured trials which gave a maximum points total of 12 points in the exercises. State anxiety was measured by means of the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2 Revised. CSAI-2R is a self-report scale which aims to explore three dimensions of anxiety: Cognitive anxiety (CA), somatic anxiety (SA), self- confidence (SC). Each participant filled in this scale after they completed the four football exercises. No statistically significant pre- to post-test changes in CA, SA, SC or football performance, as an effect of leadership style, was found. However, players in the controlling leadership condition showed significantly higher levels of SA and lower levels of SC in comparison to the control group at post-test

Jonsson Sjöqvist, Helena January 2022 (has links)
Nyckelord: Ironman, SDT teori, ultralöpare, inre motivationsfaktorer, yttre motivationsfaktorer, fysisk aktivitet / Background: This study focused on the motivation to complete an endurance race despite physical fatigue. Specifically, it explored the experience at an Ironman competition. Purpose: Creating knowledge and understanding of what form of motivation that is the strongest and most influent for athletes to continue their activity when they are exhausted. Method: A total of (n=113) Triathletes who completed an Ironman competition answered 18 questions via an online survey about their perceived motivation. Result: When the results were compiled, it showed strong internal motivational factors such as lifestyle and having a strong body and strong external motivation factors such as the status of an "Ironman" and getting a backpack that can be used in everyday life to show their participation. Comparison was also made between gender, exercise experience and age, which resulted in some difference in motivational factors. Conclusion: It is special conditions at an Ironman competition that could to some extent be compared to the elite sport's championship competitions that it is precisely the day that applies and with ultra-runners’ lifestyle as a well-trained athlete. Keyword: Ironman, SDT theory, ultra-runner, internal motivational factors, external motivational factors, physical activity

Work-life balance och motivation : En kvantitativ studie som undersöker sambandet mellan work-life balance och medarbetarnas upplevda motivation / Work-life balance and motivation

Martins, Amanda, Schaffer, Frida January 2023 (has links)
Bakgrund. / Background. Individuals in today's society need to find a balance between their various roles in the workplace and personal life. This balance competes for an individual's time and resources, which can be demanding for them to successfully juggle. Research shows that an individual's balance between their various roles tends to interact with their motivation at work. The purpose of this study is thus to examine the relationship between work-life balance and employees' perceived motivation in the workplace. Materials and Methods. The study employs a quantitative method, using convenience sampling. A questionnaire was used for data collection, with 296 respondents participating. The instruments used to investigate the relationship are the WEIMS instrument and the WLB-scale. To control for the persistence of the relationship between our main variables against the control variables, a multiple regression analysis was employed. In this analysis, bootstrapping was performed with 5000 iterations. Results. The study found a positive correlation between work-life balance and motivation (r = .14, p < .001) when the relationship was controlled for our significant control variables: stress, health condition, and sleep. Conclusion. Work-life balance and employees' perceived motivation are two factors that interact with each other. Furthermore, work-life balance and motivation have also been found to interact with an individual's intention to leave the workplace
