[en] EMOTIONAL INVESTMENT AND RELATIONSHIP SATISFACTION: IMPACT OF REPRODUCTIVE STRATEGIES / [pt] INVESTIMENTO EMOCIONAL E SATISFAÇÃO COM O RELACIONAMENTO: IMPACTO DAS ESTRATÉGIAS REPRODUTIVAS

MARIA CLARA MOREIRA DE LIMA 20 August 2021 (has links)
[en] Emotional investment is a trait referring to the tendency to invest emotionally in relationships. In general, the higher the levels of emotional investment, the greater the tendency to establish long-lasting and satisfying relationships. This research aimed to verify the relationship between emotional investment, sociosexuality (tendency to have short relationships), and satisfaction with the relationship. For this purpose, two studies were developed. The first study aimed to elaborate a scale to measure emotional investment and search for validity evidence and precision. This study indicated that the Emotional Investment scale has a two-factor structure, called Romanticism and Affection, with adequate internal consistency indices. The second study aimed to test the mediating role of sociosexuality in the relationship between emotional investment and satisfaction with the relationship. Emotional investment had a positive impact on satisfaction with the relationship and a negative impact on sociosexuality, which had a negative impact on satisfaction with the relationship. Sociosexuality mediated the relationship between emotional investment and satisfaction with the relationship, resulting in a weaker magnitude of the relationship. This research s finding helps us better understand the dynamics of a romantic relationship, especially its maintenance.

Larsson, Ida January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to investigate whether satisfaction with shift work could predict internal motivation and external motivation in the care and industry sectors. A survey was shared on social media (Facebook and LinkedIn) and sent out to care unit managers and HR. The criterion for participation was that the participants needed to work shifts in some form. The questionnaire contained three statements about internal motivation and six statements about external motivation based on the Multidimensional Work Motivation Scale (MWMS). To measure satisfaction with working shifts, the question was asked "how satisfied are you with working shifts?". The survey generated 79 participants. 4 regression analyzes showed no relationship between satisfaction with working shifts and external / internal motivation in either healthcare or industry. On the other hand, there were differences in the type of motivation, where the internal motivation was significantly higher in healthcare than in industry. No differences in satisfaction or external motivation between the sectors could be seen.

Citizen Perception of Private Security Guards in Malmö

Bengtsson, Tobias January 2015 (has links)
Despite the rapid increase in private security guards in recent decades, little is known about citizens’ perception of security guards. In this paper citizens’ trust and satisfaction with security guards is assessed. The aim of the study is to get an insight into citizens’ perception of private security guards in Malmö. Paper and pencil surveys were distributed in Malmö with questions regarding perceived trust and satisfaction with security guards and about security guards’ professionalism, accountability, imagery, and civility. The sample consisted of 78 respondents and the findings suggest that the overall perception of security guards was more positive than negative, however, the results were largely mixed. Perceived professionalism predicted satisfaction with security guards and perceived civility predicted trust in security guards. Also, security guard behavior while interacting with the public was a strong predictor of both trust and satisfaction with security personnel. Results from this study and similar studies can be used by private security organizations to educate staff in order to improve the public perception of security guards. It may also be useful for policy makers in order to make more educated decisions about future regulation of the private security industry.

A Comparison of Three Groups of Undergraduate College Males--Physically Abusive, Psychologically Abusive, and Non-Abusive: a Quantitative Analysis

Lundeberg, Kirsten Marie 16 October 1999 (has links)
This study compares three groups of undergraduate college males in heterosexual dating relationships: those who are physically and psychologically abusive (n=39), those who are solely psychologically abusive (n=44), and those who are non-abusive (n=34). These three groups are compared along the following variables: self-reported history of experiencing family of origin violence; self-reported history of witnessing family of origin violence; level of self-reported impulsivity; level of self-reported satisfaction with life; level of self-reported alcohol use; level of self-reported relationship satisfaction; and amount of self-reported anger management skill. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed significant main effects among the three groups of males along several of the variables examined (Wilks' Lambda F = 4.80, df = 10, 220, p <.001). Post hoc tests revealed significant differences among the three groups of males. This study revealed that these three groups differ significantly along their levels of alcohol use (F = 10.16, p <.001), their reported levels of relationship satisfaction (F = 4.23, p <.05), and their levels of anger management skills (F = 14.56, p<.001). This information can be helpful to clinicians and educators who are working with college populations. It would seem that psychoeducation might be useful for some of these men so that they might develop alternatives to violence, and may hopefully decrease the risk factors associated with the perpetration of relationship violence. Intervening early and effectively with these dating relationships can be a substantive step towards preventing the escalation and maintenance of violence in relationships. / Master of Science

Predicting satisfaction with quality of work life

Fourie, Anna Sophia 30 June 2004 (has links)
A survey was done in order to identify the predictors that contribute to satisfaction with qowl. A positive correlation was found between satisfaction with facets of work life and overall satisfaction with qowl. No significant difference was found between overall satisfaction and the mean of the satisfaction with the facets of work life. Organisational climate seemed to have the greatest influence. Significant predictors are identification with the organisation, participation, communication, resource management, work group functioning, reward system, health and safety aspects, job security and the rate of pay. Significant differences were found between rank, occupational, race and age groups. When need non-fulfilment scales are added to facets of work life measures, increase in the prediction of overall satisfaction is significant. The need to do work that supports moral values contributed most significantly to overall satisfaction. The most frequent preference was for financial security, followed by recognition, relationships and for achievement. / Psychology / M.A.

Subjective well-being and self-esteem in a disadvantaged community

Maluka, Constance Sarah 11 1900 (has links)
As people meet their basic biological needs, they become increasingly concerned with higher level needs, such as personal development and positive well-being. The term "subjective well-being" (SWB) refers to people's evaluations of their lives and although relatively stable, people's levels of SWB are influenced by life events. The high position of esteem needs in Maslow's hierarchy of needs reflects the importance of self-esteem in people's judgement of their quality of life. A one group post test only, analytical research design was utilised with 570 residents of an informal settlement in Soweto. A structured questionnaire was designed to obtain information on demographic variables, levels of SWB and levels of self-esteem. The levels of SWB and self-esteem within the community were relatively high. Multiple regression analyses models confirmed that demographic factors are weakly correlated with SWB and self-esteem. Self-esteem was highly correlated with life satisfaction. / Psychology / M.A. (Psychology)
