L'INSEGNAMENTO DELL'ITALIANO A CANTANTI D'OPERA INTERNAZIONALI / Teaching Italian to international opera singersBIANCHI KORNER, ALESSANDRA 23 March 2015 (has links)
The research investigates the teaching procedures of Italian language and diction to international opera singers. After a brief digression on the lyric opera, we analyze the figure of librettista and in particular of Lorenzo Da Ponte, a forerunner of the Italian language and culture teaching. An examination of the first singing courses shows how teaching a impeccable pronunciation was already crucial in the XVIII century. The phonetics and prosody teaching procedures in the history of glottodidactics are then examined, as well as the biological and psycho-social factors critical while learning a foreign language and the main linguistic difficulties faced by foreign students approaching the Italian language.
We present the data of a survey conducted on ten musical institutions like the Milan Conservatory, the Julliard School of Music of New York and the Washington State University of Seattle. We analyze the teaching procedures and the textbooks adopted and the results of a questionnaire addressed to the teachers and students of these schools. Finally we display a syllabus for international opera singers to profitably approach the Italian language.

It is focused on readers who teach guitar chord playing as an after-school activity or who learn how to play on their own. In the first part of the thesis there is a concept about the lector's theoretical knowledge. The second part (containing particular lessons) deals with the methodology of teaching the very beginners with no musical education.

Music schools are places of acknowledged importance as venues for music education and professional performance in Brazil. In order to understand the music school in its singularities, this study adopts the perspective of the sociology of educational institutions, and of a case study conducted in a private music school in Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil. The techniques of data collection used were interviews and observations. Supported by authors such as Estevão (1998), Castanho (2007), and Derouet (2000), the study shows that the school is seen mainly as a place to learn and teach music, characterized by permanence, with its own missions and supported by values; with its own procedures and pertinent instrumental resources. Studying the music school as an educational institution can bring to this area the awareness of the various aspects that constitute the school, making them the starting points for the discussion of the music school as a field of professional performance and music education.

Not only the electric guitar : Electric guitar teachers, their choice of educational material and how they motivate the use of it in their teachingAronsen, Björn-Ove January 2020 (has links)
This study aims to create deeper insight in what kind of equipment electric guitar teachers use in their teaching, how they motivate it and also if it is inspiring. The background chapter presents previous research and other literature in the field and also the theoretical basis for the study, the socio-cultural perspective on learning and communication. The data consists of qualitative interviews with three electric guitar teachers who teaches at the school of music and art. The results chapter show the teacher’s view on the subject, - teaching material in electric guitar teaching and how they motivate it´s use and also if it is inspiring. Their teaching materials may be equal but how they utilize them is different What they mean is that an inspirational teaching material also motivates their choice of the same. But the opinion - what is inspiring may also be of a different view. The teaching material doesn´t need to be inspiring. Most important is the inner inspiration that motivates to immerse in electric guitar playing. In the concluding discussion the results are discussed in relation to the previous research and to the socio-cultural perspective on learning. It appears that in spite of the tuition of electric guitar playing the tuition shape depends on the teacher. Sometimes the teacher uses same tools, but they may use them differently.

”I want to feel that it is a broad instrument…” : A discourse analytical study on string teachers’ views on the term genre width in relation to teaching in Swedish Community School of MusicSvenstedt, Karin January 2020 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to examine string teachers’ attitudes and views towards the term genre width and how this could be related to string education in Swedish community school of music. The theoretical framework of the study is discourse psychology. To examine this, focus groups were used as method where string teachers within Swedish Community Schools of music has discussed their point of views on genre width. The conversations were recorded by video and audio to later be transcribed. The transcriptions were analyzed with discourse analysis to distinguish the various interpretative repertoires. The string teachers provide an outlet for a variety of interpretative repertoires, which is presented in two main themes: Genre as dependent of several factors and genre in teaching context. Some of the interpretative repertoires are contrasting to one another and some includes variations within themselves. The most occurring of the teachers’ views seems to be that to broadening the genre, are dependent on their own background, and that it is looked upon as a tool for meeting the student. All teachers express an interpretative repertoire where genre width, is looked upon as an important work. In the discussion, the most highlighted interpretative repertoires of the results are being related to previous research and presented literature and to the theoretical perspective.

Föräldrars förväntningar på kommunal musik- och kulturskolaLilliedahl, Jonathan January 2007 (has links)
<p>English title: Parents’ expectations of municipal school of music and of arts.</p><p>Thesis in Music Education by Jonathan Lilliedahl. Part of the work for the master´s degree. Studies from School of Music, University of Örebro, 2007. Available from School of Music, Örebro University, SE-701 82 Örebro, Sweden. Original in Swedish.</p><p>Keywords: parents’ expectations, municipal school of music and of arts, music education, childrens’ development, creative activity, parental influence, municipal activity.</p><p>The essay concerns parents’ expectations within municipal school of music and of arts. The main aim is to elucidate and understand parents’ expectations of the school and purposes about their childrens activity, and then, discuss the results towards the concept and the didactic of the school.</p><p>The method has been Grounded Theory. The results are grounded on qualitative interviews with twelve parents from different municipalities and the empirical material has been encoded into categories of various kinds.</p><p>The results, which have been encoded for a several times and on different levels, indicate that parents have different purposes to each other, but also that each parent has different purposes in various contexts. A joint comprehensive aim and expectation is that the school and their teachers should enable an all-embracing development. Underlying, there are musical targets and objectives towards music as means. The parents take both individual- and group perspectives.</p><p>The results can also illustrate that parents in many cases adapt their expectations to the existing structure of the school and that many of the parents are satisfied as long as everything works. Many of the parents consider that a municipal school should be responsible for a broad education of arts, characterized by democracy and availability.</p><p>As a conclusion it may be said, while the parents’ exceptions focus on the childs’ interest and development, the municipal school of music and of arts has even more interests to satisfy and comply with.</p>
