Pensamento social conservador na modernidade brasileira contemporânea: estudo de caso sobre o movimento escoteiro / Conservative social thought in contemporary brazilian modernity: a case study on the boy scout movement

Souza, Max Eduardo Brunner 20 October 2010 (has links)
This dissertation deals with the conservative social thought in contemporary Brazilian modernity. The text begins with a review of the literature devoted about conservatism and contemporary Brazilian modernity, analyzing its key categories and contrasting to an empirical analysis of social thought in a conservative group immersed in Brazilian modernity: the boy scout movement in Brazil. The conclusions indicate that the phenomenon of conservative thought in Brazil follows its own logic: a \"progressive conservatism\" as distinct from that one found in other European and Anglo-Saxon countries.

Software-defined datacenter network debugging

Tammana, Praveen Aravind Babu January 2018 (has links)
Software-defined Networking (SDN) enables flexible network management, but as networks evolve to a large number of end-points with diverse network policies, higher speed, and higher utilization, abstraction of networks by SDN makes monitoring and debugging network problems increasingly harder and challenging. While some problems impact packet processing in the data plane (e.g., congestion), some cause policy deployment failures (e.g., hardware bugs); both create inconsistency between operator intent and actual network behavior. Existing debugging tools are not sufficient to accurately detect, localize, and understand the root cause of problems observed in a large-scale networks; either they lack in-network resources (compute, memory, or/and network bandwidth) or take long time for debugging network problems. This thesis presents three debugging tools: PathDump, SwitchPointer, and Scout, and a technique for tracing packet trajectories called CherryPick. We call for a different approach to network monitoring and debugging: in contrast to implementing debugging functionality entirely in-network, we should carefully partition the debugging tasks between end-hosts and network elements. Towards this direction, we present CherryPick, PathDump, and SwitchPointer. The core of CherryPick is to cherry-pick the links that are key to representing an end-to-end path of a packet, and to embed picked linkIDs into its header on its way to destination. PathDump is an end-host based network debugger based on tracing packet trajectories, and exploits resources at the end-hosts to implement various monitoring and debugging functionalities. PathDump currently runs over a real network comprising only of commodity hardware, and yet, can support surprisingly a large class of network debugging problems with minimal in-network functionality. The key contributions of SwitchPointer is to efficiently provide network visibility to end-host based network debuggers like PathDump by using switch memory as a "directory service" - each switch, rather than storing telemetry data necessary for debugging functionalities, stores pointers to end hosts where relevant telemetry data is stored. The key design choice of thinking about memory as a directory service allows to solve performance problems that were hard or infeasible with existing designs. Finally, we present and solve a network policy fault localization problem that arises in operating policy management frameworks for a production network. We develop Scout, a fully-automated system that localizes faults in a large scale policy deployment and further pin-points the physical-level failures which are most likely cause for observed faults.

This is a research that intends to investigate the presence of the scout movement in the primary department at the Granbery Methodist Institute from Juíz de Fora between 1927 and 1932 which is believed to have contributed for the education of the students from that school. Exactly like the regulation of the institution, the educational programmes at that time (New School) would bring a new trend which would defend a full educational system, that is, the student should learn how to improve his capacity in all ways (mentally, intelectualy and physically). Since there was an attempt to make the students` actions be similar to the scout boys` routine, all or at least most schools from Juiz de Fora, we can highlight the Granbery Institute, by the way, whose team was named "Cayuás", so much so that we analysed some documents that have been found in an institutions'file, such as the scoutboys'writings from the Granbery Institute, pictures and the seasonal objects like the Granbery itself and the Cayuás flag. The development of the study helped us on how to understand the political, social and cultural needs, which were essential for the Institute's coming and beginning in Juiz de Fora, and the input of such culture, that is, the scout movement and how it is related with the New School thought and the teaching conception, which had previously been thought by the school. Throughout our studies we could perceive that the scout movement was taken by the Dean from Granbery as the greatest way in order to educate the elite's children from Juiz de Fora, therefore, we can say that it has straightly contributed for the Granbery full educational system.

Here is a history of world Scouting and Brazil as well as the principles and the Scout method delimiting and allow your practice. We also describe the definitions of modalities of formal, non-formal and informal, and their characteristics and limitations according to some authors in the area related to the intent of the act of teaching, which is an important feature to differentiate between the modalities. From this information we characterize the Scout movement as non-formal education space. The description of the progress and the game rules used herein are presented and further analyzed with the data collected support. We realize that all the time children and young people establish relationships of the terms of chemistry with everyday facts, whether informal or formal education. The approach concepts in entertainment and outside the formal education environments provides greater freedom in the discussions involved, valuing the interaction of the participants, as well as the curiosity of them. From the analysis of applied games, we list the branches of the Scout Movement with Jean Piaget's stages of development, raising explanations, according to the cognitive development of the participants, for the relations between individuals and applied games, as well as the concepts involved. We also seek to show the versatility that the Scout Movement as education space and the possibility of allying Scouting aspects related to education, in this case chemistry.

Gorge, Vanessa 02 May 2012 (has links) (PDF)
