Metafísica prática em Schopenhauer

Silva, Luan Corrêa da January 2017 (has links)
Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Filosofia, Florianópolis, 2017. / Made available in DSpace on 2017-07-25T04:10:54Z (GMT). Assim, a compaixão é simpatia na justiça e, em maior grau, na caridade; o amor sexual o é no ato sexual e no amor apaixonado; e a magia nas curas simpáticas e no magnetismo animal.<br> / Abstract : This work approaches and defends the conception of "practical metaphysics", as a correlative of the "theoretical metaphysics" of Arthur Schopenhauer. This work develops and defends the conception of "practical metaphysics", as a correlative of the theoretical metaphysics of Arthur Schopenhauer. The thesis of practical metaphysics is only suggested by Schopenhauer in his thinking on magic as an empirical and experimental metaphysics of philosophy that is developed in The world as will and as representation. Given its quite distinct character, in the corpus of Schopenhauer's philosophy, practical metaphysics emerges as an important path for the factual understanding of philosophical knowledge, as a "real test" of philosophy. By presenting a connection in effectiveness that escapes the domain of the principle of reason, the phenomena of practical metaphysics are investigated from the concept of "sympathy." Sympathy, which functions as an empirical concept of metaphysics, brings together "compassion," "sexual love," and "magic," and is defined as the empirical irruption of metaphysical identity, that is, irruption of the will as a thing in itself, to the plurality of apparent manifestations. Thus, compassion is sympathy in justice and, to a greater degree, in charity; sexual love is in the sexual act and passionate love; and magic in sympathetic healing and animal magnetism.

Forteski, Joel 25 October 2012 (has links)

This paper aims to point the concept and function of love in John Stuart Mill's moral theory. We will see that in this moral system, love is synonymous with sympathy. Sympathy is considered a moral feeling of high order and a pleasure of superior quality that answer the precepts of the principle of utility. This principle, which has its foundation in the hedonist thesis, recommends that men maximize happiness and move away from pain. The feeling of sympathy (love) is the disposition that men naturally possess to consider the happiness of others as being part of their own happiness. This feeling functions as a powerful moral sanction that effectively impels individuals to act according to the standard of utilitarian morality. In order to better understand the implications that surround the discussion of love in Mill's theory, we will analyze the pillars of the author's philosophical system: empiricism, hedonism, associationism, the canons of psychology, ethology, and the notion of enhancement of human nature and social institutions. These pillars give rise to a series of complexities in the theory of utility, when we compare Mill's philosophical legacy with the utilitarian tradition before the author, such as the notion of secondary principles of morality and sub-theses of the hedonist thesis. We will also analyze through the Autobiography reports how some events in the trajectory of Mill's life were decisive for the elaboration of his more complex moral system and for the love to gain prominence in his theory. Issues related to justice and freedom will also be analyzed in the light of the concept of love in Mill's theory.

Introdução a uma clínica da simpatia

We propose to highlight the complexity of the issue through a brief overview of what happened with the idea of sympathy throughout the history of Western thought. From the viewpoint of conceptual connections, we rely especially to David Hume, for whom, in the eighteenth century, the issue that influences the theme of sympathy is that of relations between humans. Because sympathy is a passion, and like all passion, in Hume, is characterized by its partiality, the difficulty to consider, in the social point of view, is the sympathy's intensity reduccion as it extends. A sympathy's clinic is thematized in resonance with this problem, discussed with help of Gilles Deleuze's book Empirisme et subjectivité (1953). This clinical practice should promote the intensification of sympathy without recreate the relational limitation that it suffers from restricted groups, like family, and be able to establish itself as a nomadic place of relations of sympathy's extent, in favor of an affirmation of differential life / Esta dissertação discorre acerca de dispositivos teóricos com os quais podemos operar relações de simpatia em encontros clínicos.

A filosofia de Adam Smith: imaginação e especulação / The philosophy of Adam Smith: imagination and speculation

Müller, Leonardo André Paes 02 February 2016 (has links)
In The Theory of Moral Sentiments, Adam Smith establishes a pluralist scheme to explain moral approbation, with four kinds of moral judgments: 1) regarding the motives of the agent, the judgment determines its propriety or impropriety; 2) regarding the immediate effects of the action, the judgement determines its merit or demerit; 3) analyzing if this act is a particular case of a general rule, the judgement determines if the agent has acted according to his duty; and 4) regarding the remote effects of the action, that is, the way this action is a part of the global operations of society (a judgement that Smith calls the appearance of utility). These four kinds of moral judgments are grounded in imagination and form the totality of the principle of approbation that structure the speculative part of his moral philosophy.

\"Vida social e poder político: David Hume contra os contratualistas de seu tempo\" / Social life and political power: David Hume against the contractarians of his age

Almeida, Gabriel Bertin de 05 July 2005 (has links)
Starting from the most popular political theories in the 17th century, contractualism and that of passive obedience, represented by the two main political parties in England at that time (Whig and Tory), this paper intends to show how Hume disagrees with both. However, his main objective is, without a doubt, refuse contractualism. To achieve its end, the text brings two sets of arguments: the first one concerns the concept of artifice in Hume\'s theory, which is very different from the artifice created by the contractarians. This opposition is not in general mencioned by the tradition of commentators, especially when the subject is the refutation of contractualism. The second set of arguments concerns the more direct refutation made by Hume, which we can term the \"official\" one. Here we can include the discussions about the role of consent, the existence of the state of nature and the explicit or tacit contract, the obligation derived from promises, the origin of government and allegiance.

Identidade pessoal e simpatia no Tratado de Hume / Personal identity and sympathy in Humes Treatise

Galvão Neto, Dario de Queiroz 16 February 2018 (has links)
This work explores the theme of personal identity in Humes Treatise of human nature (1739-1740), according to these three points of view: sympathy, imagination and passions. First of all, through the study of the relation between the self and the ideia of other in the principle of sympathy, we intend to show that this principle carries within itself a meaning more significant than a mere communication of passions or affects usually adopted by the commentators. In effect, if we examine the dependency between the individual and his similar, we find in the mechanism of sympathy a conflict regarding the nature of personal identity: the self is, at the same time, the liveliest perception we can have in the thought, and, without the exteriority, according to Humes words, the self is in reality nothing. In order to overcome the conflict, we propose: first, the investigation of the imagination, through which a fiction of the self is created in the thought; second, the succession of passions, where a self of pleasure and pain is produced. Without the intention of favouring the imagination or the passions as the principle of the formation of identity, neither with the intention of speculating about an exhaustive articulation between these two, we intend to consider by the three points of view (including that of sympathy) what would be the essential about personal identity: an order that is established by the disorder, and that is at all times threatened by that very disorder.
