À primeira vista, estas revistas se confundem entre si, utilizando os mesmos recursos para se autopromoverem e chamarem a atenção do leitor. Alguns questionamentos se fazem necessários: o discurso propagado por essas revistas é igual? Elas possuem o mesmo público-alvo? O que as diferenciam umas das outras? Para entender como se constrói a relação da mídia impressa com o público, fizemos, primeiramente, um levantamento histórico sobre o papel da televisão e a importância da dramaturgia para as massas, do folhetim francês à atual telenovela brasileira. Em seguida, enfocamos o produto revista e as especificidades de seu jornalismo. Três títulos foram selecionados como objeto de análise: Minha Novela, Guia da TeVê e Super Novelas. Após verificar as estratégias discursivas que caracterizam este tipo de imprensa, o enfoque foi dado à opinião dos leitores, bem como aos usos e gratificações resultantes desta interação. / This dissertation aims to analyze the discourse employed by magazines specializing in coverage of soap operas. At first glance, these magazines are confused with each other, using the same resources to pull oneself and draw the reader's attention. Some questions are needed: the discourse propagated by these magazines is equal? They have the same target audience? What set them apart from each other? To understand how to build the relationship of print media with the public, we, first, a historical survey of the role of television and the importance of the theater for the masses, the French feuilleton the current Brazilian telenovela. Then we focus on the revised product and the specifics of your journalism. Three titles were selected as the object of analysis: Minha Novela, Guia da TeVê e Super Novelas. After verifying the discursive strategies that characterize this type of press, the focus was given to the opinion of the readers as well as the uses and gratifications resulting from this interaction.

Essa tese consiste num esforço acadêmico multidisciplinar em compreender alguns aspectos relacionados à veiculação de abordagens sociais em telenovela brasileira específica: lembranças, recepção e percepção. Por meio de investigação empírica objetivou-se a levantar, em primeira instância, as lembranças das Temáticas, Temas e Merchandising Social de telespectadores da telenovela \"Páginas da Vida\", escrita por Manoel Carlos, para a Rede Globo de Televisão. Em um segundo momento procurou-se verificar e analisar as principais mediações, em especial os níveis educacionais formais, atuantes na recepção de fragmentos das abordagens sociais veiculados na telenovela já mencionada. E, finalmente, buscou-se avaliar a percepção dos mesmos conteúdos, levando em consideração, em especial, a mediação da educação formal. Para alcançar tais propósitos, foram pesquisados grupos de telespectadores da telenovela, portadores de cada um dos níveis educacionais formais adotados nesse estudo. / This thesis consists in a multidisciplinary academic effort to understanding a few aspects related to the dissemination of social issues in specific Brazilian soap opera: remembering, reception and perception. Through an empirical inquiry intended to raise, first and foremost, the viewer\'s remembrances of the Thematic, Theme and Social Merchandising propagated by the soap opera \"Páginas da Vida\", written by Manoel Carlos, for the Rede Globo of Television. In a second moment also the main mediation have to be verify and analyzed, especially the formal educational levels active in the reception of fragments of the social issues promulgated in the soap opera mentioned above. And finally the perception of the some contents was evaluated, which took especially in consideration, the mediation provided by the formal education. In order to do it, groups of the soap opera viewers were interviewed, with each one of the adopted formal educational levels in this research.

Web service-based mobile applications have become emergent in the recent years. Representational State Transfer (REST) architecture style introduced the concept of Resource Oriented Architecture (ROA), which has been widely used for building applications for all platforms. This master’s thesis designs and develops a Web service-based mobile application for Android platform following the constraints of REST architectural style. It also proposes an authentication model for RESTful applications. The master’s thesis is completed at the company Inspectera HK AB in Norrköping, Sweden. The developed application is called the “Mobile version of Inspectera Online.”

In many industries the tracking and tracing of products within the supply chain is required by law. Companies in the metal working industry exchange so-called material test reports, which specify the product’s properties, the customer’s requirements, and serve as an assurance between the supplier and the customer. Internet technologies have changed the way companies exchange information and conduct business. In the metal working industry companies can implement an intermediary platform and make the exchange of material test reports more efficient. Furthermore, a client application that allows the company to export test reports from their information system directly to the intermediary can significantly decrease the processing costs. This inter-organizational collaboration can render an increase in productivity for customers and suppliers. The main goal of the thesis is to analyze how companies in a supply chain can exchange documents with an intermediary over the protocol SOAP as well as support companies by showing a structured procedure for how to achieve security in a system using SOAP. SOAP is a platform independent XML-based communication protocol. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is of major importance in e-business applications, because of its platform, language, and vendor independent way of describing data. As a universal data format, it enables the seamless connection of business systems. SOAP does not provide any security and is usually implemented over HTTP, which allows it to pass through firewalls. Companies are only prepared to join an inter-organizational collaboration if IT-security is guaranteed. In the exchange of material test reports, security has two objectives. The first is to replace the handwritten signature in the paper-based document exchange. The second is to guarantee security for the material test reports as well as for the information intermediary. SOAP’s extensibility model allows organizations to develop new extensions, which build upon the protocol and provide functions which aren’t specified. Specifications for attachments as well as for security should be implemented in the electronic document exchange. To design a secure system, each security concept, such as confidentiality, authentication and integrity, can be analyzed in its context and the appropriate standard can thereafter be implemented.

As software increases in complexity and relies more on Internet and Web technology, the challenge of enabling interaction and communication between loosely coupled applications becomes increasingly vital. Distributed computing presents challenges to loosely coupled applications that require means with which to interact and communicate. There exist technologies that are aimed at solving these problems; Web service is one such technology. Web service is a relatively new and rapidly maturing technology in the area of distributed computing; it offers a standards-based way to exchange information in an interoperable manner. This thesis is done in partnership with StruSoft and attempts to provide a solution to their problem of distributed computing, by using Web service technology. The paper looks at distributed systems and various solutions to the problems associated with distributed computing. A comprehensive insight into Web service technology is provided, along with rationale as to why it is chosen for the project. In addition, there are guidelines as to how the necessary components of Web service are installed. Development of License Management Software is also a part of this thesis. The software offers a means with which to store and maintain data about customers and their licenses. Security is a major focus of this paper and thus extensively mentioned throughout. A detailedexplanation of computer security is presented, along with the necessary configurations that are needed to make the Web service and the License Management Software more secure.

This thesis discusses the possibility of combining music and images through the use of metadata. Test subjects from different usability tests say they are interested in seeing images of the band or artist they are listening too. Lyrics matching the actual song are also something they would like to see. As a result an application for cellphones is created with Flash Lite which shows that it is possible to listen to music and automatically get images from Flickr and lyrics from Lyrictracker which match the music and show them on a cellphone.

Our project is divided into two parts, one production and written report. The main focus was the production part, were we used PHP to create simple solution for handling SMS and MMS with direct communication with the mobile operator server. We communicate with sockets and can handle CIMD2 and MM7 protocol. To get our components easy to use we have created two classes to handle SMS and MMS. To demonstrate our technical platform we created a website were you can create an account. With the account you can send pictures and other files via MMS and publish them for all to see or you can keep them private. The written report focused on describing the MMS technique there by getting a good overview. / Vår produktion består av två moment, en produktions del och en skriftlig del. Tyngden ligger på vår produktion där vi med verktyget PHP skapat enkla lösningar för att hantera SMS och MMS direkt mot operatörernas servrar. Vi kommunicerar via sockets och kan hantera protokollen CIMD2 och MM7, för att användaren skall kunna använda vår teknik på ett så enkelt sätt som möjligt har vi skapat två klasser som på ett simpelt sätt skall kunna ta emot och skicka data. För att demonstrera vår tekniska produkt har vi skapat en webbsida där man kan skaffa sig ett eget konto. Med detta konto kan man skicka bilder och andra filer via MMS till webbsidan för att sedan publicera dem för allmänheten eller behålla dem som privata bilder/filer. The thesis titled "Czech serial Velmi křehké vztahy characters with regard to their property estate and social class" is linked to specialised publications which originated in the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Charles University in Prague mapping how the 'after the velvet revolution' series made by the Czech TV portray the topic of wealth and affluence. The theory part consist of findings from two socio-scientific fields, i.e. sociology and media studies, the outcomes of which will consequently meet in the research part of this thesis. The subject matter of the research part of this thesis is the episodes of the third season of the Velmi křehké vztahy soap opera which was broadcast by the Prima Czech TV channel between 2008 and 2009. This research sample was achieved by using a qualitative research technique, specifically the grounded theory method. The thesis focuses predominantly on how a class hierarchy and wealth determine their character. The attention is also paid to listing various social classes which appear in the series, and to the outline of the areas of a social life in which the social mobility is possible. [pt] O mundo está passando por um período de significativas mudanças nos meios de comunicação com o crescimento das chamadas novas mídias. As empresas de mídia estão desafiadas a expandir seus negócios explorando novas possibilidades, ao mesmo tempo em que precisam transferir seus principais ativos da mídia tradicional, como a televisão, para essa nova lógica de produção e consumo. Neste cenário podemos incluir a telenovela brasileira. Com significativa importância e influência na cultura brasileira, as telenovelas já são o resultado de uma série de transposições desde sua origem no folhetim, alcançando mais sucesso a cada novo formato. Entretanto, são ainda produzidas exclusivamente para a televisão, incorporando lentamente extensões nas novas mídias e que não dão conta das principais mudanças no consumo e no projeto do produto. Partindo então da investigação das principais propriedades da telenovela brasileira e da análise de aspectos específicos dessas atuais mudanças dos meios, este estudo teve como objetivo levantar reflexões e diretrizes que possam guiar a implementação de um novo modelo de telenovela. Neste caso, um produto maior e mais complexo, no qual se mantenham determinadas propriedades do folhetim televisivo, mas que incorpore, ao mesmo tempo, características das novas mídias, reconhecendo que os impactos dessas transformações são irreversíveis. / [en] The world is undergoing a period of dramatic changes in its communication media, facing the growth of the so-called new media. The media companies are under the challenge of how to expand their businesses exploring new possibilities, but also to transfer their main assets on traditional media, such as television, to this new logic of production and consumption. In this scenario we can include the Brazilian telenovelas. With major importance and influence in the Brazilian culture, the telenovelas are already a result of several transpositions since its origin as serial, and achieved more success in each new format. However, the telenovela is still produced strictly to television, slowly incorporating new media extensions which do not cover the significant changes in consumption and product design. Therefore, from the research of the main proprieties of the Brazilian telenovelas and the analysis of specific aspects of current media changes, this study aimed to raise reflections and guidelines which may direct the implementation of a new model of telenovela. In this case, a larger and more complex product, in which we could successfully maintain certain aspects of the television serial and incorporate, at the same time, new media characteristics, recognizing that the impacts of such transformations are irreversible.

El propósito de esta investigación es abordar la representación de la masculinidad en el mundo audiovisual, a partir del género telenovela, y sustentarlo desde el análisis de su evolución hasta su llegada a la actualidad. Para ello, se retoman los debates sobre esta categoría desde enfoques como: roles y estereotipos de género, masculinidad hegemónica, y masculinidad y el tabú de la homosexualidad. Además, se desarrollará la categoría de construcción de personaje desde las siguientes dimensiones: natural, pública y doméstica, mencionadas por Norma Fuller (2001) en sus investigaciones sobre la masculinidad. Ambas categorías y enfoques se elaborarán a manera de estado de la cuestión. Para la profundización teórica, se revisaron estudios de autores como Norma Fuller, Teresa Valdés, José Olavarría, Connell, Elena Galán y Patricio Pérez, desde una perspectiva audiovisual y de género. Finalmente, en coherencia con los objetivos del estudio, se propone un diseño metodológico cualitativo orientado al análisis de contenido, el cual nos permitirá resolver la pregunta sobre ¿cómo es la representación de la masculinidad en telenovelas actuales de Latinoamérica? / The purpose of this research is to address the representation of masculinity in the audiovisual world, from the soap opera genre, and, from the analysis of its evolution to its arrival at the present time. For that, the debates on the category of representation of masculinity are taken up again, starting from approaches such as: gender roles and stereotypes, hegemonic masculinity and, masculinity and the taboo of homosexuality. In addition, it will develop the category of character construction from the following dimensions: natural, public and domestic, mentioned by Norma Fuller (2001) in her investigations about masculinity. Both categories and approaches will be elaborated as a state of the question. For theoretical deepening, studies by authors such as Norma Fuller (2001), Teresa Valdés (1998), José Olavarría (1998), Connell (2005) y Elena Galán (2005), were reviewed from an audiovisual and gender perspective. Finally, in coherence with the objectives of the study, a qualitative methodological design oriented to content realization is proposed, which will allow us to answer the question about how is the current representation of masculinity in Latin American soap operas? / Trabajo de investigación
