A Town Library in Action (A Study of the Town Library as a Social Institution in Richmond, Utah, March 1939)

McCarrey, Rulon S. 01 May 1941 (has links)
Richmond lies on a rise of ground near the Wasatch range in the east central part of Cache Valley. In 1855 John Bair led a small party to the vicinity of Richmond to explore it. Four years later (1859) they returned and established homes. The community grew quite rapidly. In 1860 when Jesse V. fox, territorial surveyor, made the first survey, 104 people claimed land. The first public building was a combination church and school house. A ditch connected with High Creek was built in q860. In 1868 the village was incorporated with W. D. Hendricks as the first mayor.

The protection and evacuation of people living in day-care homes while there is an emergency in the area of České Budějovice.

SAMCOVÁ, Monika January 2014 (has links)
The ambience of social services is characterized by a number of relations among people and institutions that have a significant impact on quality of life. The aim of providing social services is to create conditions to satisfy natural needs of people in the form of support and assistance in self-care. The diploma thesis is aimed at protection and evacuation of people living in social institutions - nursing homes, homes for the elderly and protected housing. Emergency situations do not choose the time or the place. The need for evacuation of people with various types and degrees of illness, people who are dependent on others, means a very difficult process for nursing staff and for the intervening integrated rescue system. The diploma thesis is aimed at protection and evacuation of people living in social institutions - nursing homes, homes for the elderly and protected housing.

A Instituição social do rádio: (Re)agregando as práticas discursivas da indústria no ecossistema midiático / The social institution of radio: (re)aggregating the industry\'s discursive practices into the media ecosystem

Gambaro, Daniel 31 May 2019 (has links)
The media ecosystem is changing, as a consequence of the propagation of digital information and communication technologies throughout everyday purposes. Today, more means are disputing people\'s attention, who are divided between already established activities of media consumption and new communication practices. In the middle of such transformations, the radio industry needs to be reconfigured to keep its social and cultural value. The central aim of this work is to reflect on the contemporary radio, so to support the design of tactics of action that may sustain the historical legacy of the medium, while enabling the rearrangement of practices in accordance with the current habits of media consumption. The core postulation reached through this investigation dictates that radio is a social institution, that is, an aggregate of discursive practices construed from the association between diverse agents and technologies. Strategies, concepts and discourses have been historically instituted, ingrained by the agents acting upon the field of the radio. This set of practices is, today, an ambiguity: on the one hand, it assures the legitimacy of the field by the ballast of time; on the other hand, it is an inflexible structure that prevents alterations. Thus, we must look to the radio\'s past to understand how it was rooted in the current form, but we must keep in mind the affordances of the digital media environment, where the radio\'s production is just now circulating. As methodology to the proposed argument, it was performed an extensive bibliographic review about the history of the medium. Such information was organised and discussed to demonstrate the process of institution of the radio, as well as the existing and poorly explored possibilities. This initial framework guided an empirical observation, whose purpose was to describe the contemporary radio. One objective was to list the forms of radio production, along with the variations expected in different contexts, using examples of radio stations from six markets: three in Brazil (São Paulo, Porto Alegre and Recife) and three abroad (United Kingdom, Spain and Portugal). This research effort revealed that, despite the need for renovation, the instituted forms of radio impose themselves under the logic of the market, preventing major developments towards a better adequacy to the media ecosystem. Under the light of these findings, this thesis proposes possible routes to the future performance of the radio, as part of new social aggregations, formed through the habits newly instituted by modern technologies

It is a theoretical work that aims to evidence the potentialities and limitations of the hunger analysis theoretical models of contemporary sociology. It was used concepts of Social Institution (Berguer and Bourdieu), Habitus-prec?rio and Ral? (Jess? O professor e a instituição formação em saude : implicações nas transformações curriculares / The university professor and the institution formation in health : implications in the curricular transformations

Mourão, Lucia Cardoso 18 August 2006 (has links)
Orientador: Solange L'Abbate / Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Ciencias Medicas / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-08T22:48:29Z (GMT). The curricular reforms that they look to take care of to the social requirements of our time are today in the center of the pedagogical and politician-educational quarrels in Brazil. With the objective to understand as if it gives the institutionalization of the new resumes of the medicine and nursing courses of the Fluminense Federal University, understood here as collective projects, was become fulfilled, in this study, an institutional analysis of character partner-description, having as main focus the participation of the professors in the processes of curricular change. It has been broken of the notion of that practical the social professor consists in an institution that if she organizes as the result of a relation dialectic between three moments: the instituted one, the instituant and of institutionalization in the scope of the university professional formation. Through the document study, of the accomplishment of individual interviews and focal groups the relations that these actors keep between itself, with the University and the sector were health specifically. The boarding of them founding pillars of the Modern University - the Reason and the State - allowed, not only to identify the paper of this organization through History, as also to dimensioned the context where if it carries through the teaching action. Such action is by other individuals, participants of the learning process and must be supported in the principles of the ethics and the humanizes, enrolled in the new curricular lines of direction. However the permanent fight between instituted and institutions, common to all the society convokes the individuals if to locate of different forms. It was possible to detach that the implications of the professors are always gifts, showing thus the contradictions and resistances, that even so gifts and, to the times, good consolidated in the organization, were not so clearly to the set of involved citizens. A gradient of implications is observed that can oscillate of most positive to most negative, depending on the force as the professors act and influence in the reform process, in view of the relative autonomy of that the professor enjoys. It was concluded that the recent processes of boarded curricular reforms are, of general form, innovators, therefore they consider didactic options that they search, over all, a bigger integration between practical theory and, the incorporation of the interdisciplinary practical and the creation of bigger bond of the pupils with the practical one of the health services. However, to elucidate the nature of the collective process of production of subjectivity in the learning process, it is important to consider the crossings that the teaching activity in the field of the health / Doutorado / Saude Coletiva / Doutor em Saude Coletiva

It is a theoretical study of historical and philosophical character which is based on biblioraphical study. The exercise of reflection on the subject intends to understand the contradictions inherent in the formation of the modern man. With economical, socio-cultural and political changes in the last centuries, the university is restructured and gains definition of organization that mischaracterizes it as social institution. Administered by the business logic, the university gets asleep what it truly proposes: training. The theoretical study discusses the origin and meaning of human formation for the Greeks of classical antiquity and, in the sequence, relates it to the birth of the university in the thirteenth century. It discusses the process of corruption of the educational institution from external interferences, especially of the state and market interests. Finally, the discussion highlights what remained of the university and what it can offer to students in the condition that it is inserted. It is notable the importance of keeping alive and highlighting the educational institution, even preserving what remains somewhat.

Hur elevers sociala makt konstitueras i gymnasieskolans läroplaner - Från enhetsskola till entreprenörsskola

Norefalk, Christian January 2014 (has links)
In this essay I try to show that the curriculum for the Swedish upper secondary schools exercise of power on pupils has changed from a deontic regulative form of exercise to a much deeper and more sophisticated form of power exercise to effect a specific outcome which thus change the restriction of the pupils ability to effect their own specific outcome, but also that this form of exercise of power generates a construction of new hidden power-relations. The questions I will be asking is “How does the curriculum constitute the social power of pupils?” and “How has the constitution of the pupils rights, obligations and ideal goals changed thru the changing of curricula?”. Finally, “Can we state from the answers of these questions that the individual pupil´s ability to change a specific outcome has changed?” From my discourse analyses I draw two main conclusions: Firstly that the curriculums exercise of power on the student has become both broader and deeper. Secondly that the exercise of power also has become more inexplicit.

Socialinių institucijų problemų kėlimas ir gerosios patirties sklaida rajoninėje spaudoje / Display of social institutions' problems and pozitive experience spread in regional press

Miliukaitė-Janovskienė, Aušrinė 24 September 2008 (has links)
[toliau žr. visą tekstą] / In the modern world information spreading, communication and cooperation acquires the increasing importance both in private and public life, therefore, various state institutions, non-governmental organizations and private companies draw much attention to public relations. Creation of cooperation relations between various related institutions plays an important role in plans, strategies, by-laws and etc. of each organization. Consideration of social issues in regional press is more important and plays greater role as it concerns everyone. It relates to certain factors of own environment, i.e. becomes known and important in the sphere to which it is devoted. However, attention to cooperation of social institutions with the closest means of press in terms of institution’s place is insufficient. The objective of this master’s investigation is to evaluate the present condition of cooperation between social institutions and regional press and find out the cooperation perspectives by analysis of display of social institutions’ problems and good experience spread in the paper “Širvintų kraštas“. This theses consider links between the public information means and public policy formation: they reveal the way the problems in press correct agenda of politicians, influence public opinion, as an institution spreading good experience in press, find the opportunities to form favourable image. The investigation shows that publications about regional social institutions appear in regional... [to full text]

Travail salarié et changement social dans le Vietnam contemporain / Wage labor and social change in contemporary Vietnam

Nguyen, Van Thuat 22 March 2013 (has links)
Whether is it an exception or not, Vietnam remains at any rate a lucky choice for a case study that fits any sociological analysis. The methodology is how to choose the domain for such analysis. That research field has been found out and is demonstrated here to the readers as: the salaried staff in this several decade long tight closed country. How the agricultural workers are employed and paid during the French colonial period? What is the composition of the salaried staff in Vietnam during sixty years long period? What is the profile of the ghost named as bureaucracy depicted in the real faces of these salaried people? How is the life of workers, white and blue collars, peasants and intellectuals in this so rich country in natural and human resources and so poor physically and spiritually? Using tables and graphics, interviews and descriptions, the essay would like to present the true face of Vietnam with the hope to work out for a (while remaining blurring vague) outline named as Hope.
