Mito e mimeses em El Zorro de arriba y el zorro de abajo de José María Arguedas / Myth and mimesis in El Zorro de arriba y el zorro de abajo by José María Arguedas

Afonso Rocha Lacerda 13 November 2015 (has links)
One remarkable specificity of Arguedian narrative lies in the fact that his literary work highlights the struggle between reality and language in a very particular way. Such tension is present, above all, in the need to translate into literary language the contents of culture and society of the Quechuan-speaking people in the Andes. In this respect, the critical reception of Arguedass previous novel before his last, Todas las Sangres (1964), led to a false dilemma between representation and failure. Arguedas did not remain insensitive to this debate, to the point he felt urged to enhance his narrative resources facing a new and baffling reality he was about to portray in his last novel, El Zorro de Arriba y el Zorro de Abajo (1971). As it is known, in this novel the expressive resources the author was accustomed to cope with were almost taken to a paroxysm. One of the outcomes of this tension springs from the irreconcilable character of the unconditioned, which is able to elude the intentions to describe it, and the language, which comes to twisting itself, to refounding itself so as to remaining faithful to the metamorphic scenario that it imitates. We aim at analyzing what resists expression, which comes close to an autonomous form and is not estranged from the novel, the myth. Starting from a specific conception of the myth, able to be considered in parallel to ideology, as the poietic aspect of both can be highlighted, we approach a discussion about mimesis. The openness of mimetic poiesis tries to be preserved in such passages. The creative permeability and plasticity that are linked to the notion of mimesis must focus on the reality of the text. We will analyze how the mimetic incidence is manifest in the novels textuality through the oscillation of meanings, whose study follows the non-rhetorical perspective of the metaphor, according to the theories of Paul Ricoeur. There is also the discussion on the notion of figure¸ in the terms of Erich Auerbach, in order to establish the link between mediation and invention.

O sujeito do Pau-Brasil: São Paulo, Minas Gerais e a enunciação na poética oswaldiana / The self of Pau-Brasil: São Paulo and Minas Gerais in the poetics of Oswald de Andrade

Paula Albiero Marconi de Lima 02 March 2016 (has links)
The present work is a research into the elliptical subject of selected poems regarding São Paulo and Minas Gerais, from the book Pau-Brasil, by Oswald de Andrade. The analysis attempts to demonstrate how the poems absence of subjectiveness and acute objectiveness inserts itself into the debate concerning the impersonality in the modern European poetry. It also studies how this procedure is apprehended by the pau-brasil aesthetic, taking into account Brazilian Modernisms search of a national identity. Simultaneously, the study verifies the absent selfs effort to elaborate São Paulos and Minas landscapes in the poems as myths. The subject reveals itself in a nuanced fashion that varies according to the difficulty that involves the myth creation, and the referred complexity refers to the historic moments of both regions in the 1920s: the increasing in the coffee exportation and the decadence of the gold mining.

A Casa do Bandeirante como espaço museológico (1954-1964) / The Bandeirante House as museum space (1954-1964)

Andréa Maria Zabrieszach Afonso dos Santos 26 August 2016 (has links)
This dissertation aims to approach, historically, the physical and symbolic construction of The Bandeirante House, an evocative museum of the time of \"bandeiras\" (former Brazilian settlers). It was inaugurated in 1955, at the end of the celebrations of the IV Centenary of the City of São Paulo, with its restoration being carried out under the responsibility of the organizing committee of those festivities. The first of the \"historical homes\" belonging to the city hall, it is part of the current architectural collection of São Paulo\'s city museums. The time covered in this project extends from 1955 to 1964, during the first period of the Museum, under the direction of Paul Camilher Florençano, when this cultural space was designed to present a scenario of the way of living in São Paulo during the colonizer period. At that moment, The Bandeirante House conceived heroically the \"Bandeirante Cycle\", dealing with as a myth by the presentation of an exhibition by period room, conceptual guidelines of the exhibition held until 1978. The goals of this dissertation are to analyze the conceptual and institutional creating process of the Bandeirante House, to understand and document its acquisition policy and to discuss the first long term exhibition of the institution, based the \"sertanista myth\" and its museum references.

In order to survey Emílio Moura (1902-1971) uses of modern lyric – taking in account his roles as professor, journalist, and Brazilian poet – this thesis focuses the book Itinário poético (2002) which assembles all his verses. When some themes were frequently noticed, we could realize three possible ways of reading and then infer his strategies as a poet. The metalinguistic poems were the firsts to be analyzed because they concern poetic strategies, characterization of poets, poetry, and also poetic language. These characteristics of the metalinguistic poems point out a literary work stretched between the permanence of the mўthos and the rise of the lógos as well as the outcomes of that tension and of the modern versify. Then the steadiness of the representation of the female – better example of the dematerialized images, or even the reframe of the concreteness in Moura‘s literary work – incites the attempt of denude the emiliana women that is built out of both the mythic vis and the platonic metaphysic. That mythic-idealistic tension becomes even more problematic in the poems which announce the fall, the death or the dissolution of the myths, showing up the melancholic character that goes by the majority of Moura‘s writings. The recurrence of a malaise focusing the expression of the self in Itinerário poético, leads us up to notice melancholy in this poet from the XX century.

[en] ZUZU ANGEL S FASHION AND THE FIELD OF DESIGN / [pt] A MODA DE ZUZU ANGEL E O CAMPO DO DESIGN

PRISCILA ANDRADE SILVA 20 July 2007 (has links)
[en] The dissertation Zuzu Angel s fashion and the field of design intends to analyze the examples of models created by the fashion designer Zuzu Angel, juxtaposing them with narratives of different sources of information (interviews, biographic material, press publications and documents such as photographs, letters, press releases and invitations) in order to contextually place her contribution to Brazilian fashion. For many reasons, such as her tragic death, a consensus has been established over the years around the mythical narrative about Zuzu Angel which has shaped her image as a symbol of the courageous, innovative and avant-garde woman of her time. This narrative also provides information about her work although the interpretation of the object is not clear, not only in the way in which it shapes her image, but also by the meanings it attributes to her work. In this dissertation, the models selected are analyzed mainly from a symbolic perspective and for that reason a survey of the socialcultural context is presented along with a reflection on her biography. This procedure explains the development of her professional trajectory and shows that a combination of many factors such as family background, existential and motivating aspects were necessary to turn Zuzu Angel into a paradigm on the field of design and Brazilian fashion.

Écrire le désenchantement : opacité et transparence dans l’œuvre des poètes « confessionnelles » Anne Sexton et Sylvia Plath / Writing Disenchantment : opacity and Transparency in the Literary Works of the “Confessional” Poets Anne Sexton and Sylvia Plath

Thomine, Angélique 24 November 2017 (has links)
This Ph.D. thesis analyzes the literary works of American poets Anne Sexton and Sylvia Plath in light of Women’s and Gender Studies and considers the notions of myth and disenchantment. Plath and Sexton were labeled “confessional” poets; this study’s first section seeks to understand the underlying mechanisms of this appellation and how it participated in the construction of myths around the two poets and also aims to deconstruct these myths. Plath and Sexton met at the end of the ‘50s and influenced each other. Their poetics of disenchantment are a common trait in their literary works, from their “confessional” poems to their rewriting of fairy tales and myths which may be called “anti-tales.” Although their poetic styles differ, the themes they pursue are similar, from the incestuous trauma to the female body, from the American housewife to the representation of women through the Madonna/slut dichotomy. In this thesis’s second section, these topics are scrutinized and considered in relation to the notions of veil and modesty. Appeals for modesty stem in part from the Bostonian poetic stage of the 50s-70s, the puritan influence of New England poet Robert Lowell and the misogynistic critics of the time. This study’s third section links literature and society and emphasizes the influence of patriarchal and “poetriarchal” context on and in Plath’s and Sexton’s poetry and prose.

Le labyrinthe en miroirs d’Eva. Le mythe de l’éternel féminin et l’anti-héroïne : du roman au film : Camille/Le roman de Marguerite Gauthier et A hora da estrela/L’heure de l’étoile / Eva and the labyrinth of mirrors. The myth of eternal feminie and the anti-heroine : from novel to film : Camille / Le roman de Marguerite Gauthier and A hora da estrela /The hour of the star

De Iglesias, Edyala 24 April 2014 (has links)
The critical analysis of the personages Marguerite Gauthier and Macabéa in the films -Camille / Le roman de Marguerite Gauthier, 1936 and A hora da estrela /The hour of the star,1986 - seeks to understand the mechanisms by which the myth of the eternal feminine ensures its permanence in contemporary women’s imaginary as an image-reference. The first section of the thesis focus the power of looking by an analytical approach between the stereotypes of the colonized body and the feminine body, identified as the “other” in the colonial discourse. The second section is a historical and critical analysis of the eternal feminine represented by the emblematic personage of Marguerite Gauthier, performed by Greta Garbo, and the resignifications of this myth by the contemporary media. The third section is a critical reflection about the feminine outsider, represented by the personage of Macabéa, by questioning the reception of the myth and its influence on the women’s creative process. This work focuses on the concept of 'experience' as a central element for the articulation of "others' perspectives, while questioning the relationship between film, feminine and narrative.

Happiness not Included : En kvalitativ undersökning av myter om lycka i svenska reklamfilmer

Hassas, Hassas, Norgren, Jennie January 2013 (has links)
”If we consume the product as a product, we consume its meaning through advertising” – Jean Baudrillard Syftet med denna studie är att identifiera och analysera bakomliggande myter om lycka i kommersiella reklamfilmer, utifrån ett konstruktionistiskt perspektiv.

Les voyageuses françaises en Italie du Nord au XIXe siècle / French women travelers in the North of Italy in the 19th century

Stizioli, Chiara Stella 23 June 2015 (has links)
Italy has always been a privileged destination and has welcomed travelers from all over the world, and the French have a very important place. Many travelers felt the need to write about their travels in Italy and we still have their letters, true accounts of their visits and personal diaries. In the 19th century Italy remained a favorite destination for the upper classes, and women, often absent from previous travel narratives, started to be associated with Italian travel. Italian travel has been the theme for many studies in the last few decades. I decided to integrate these studies and give priority to 19th century women travelers in the North of Italy, those closest to French society. Feminine sensitivity is different to that of men, and even though women travelers are victims of the same prejudices we will be able to see Italy from an original point of view depending on the classes concerned. I compared women’s accounts of their travels with those of men and also with guide books which were having more and more success among travelers. Among recurrent themes, departure and everyday life have a very important place in women’s travel narratives. My purpose is not only to compare these accounts, tracing a common line and analyzing the differences between these Italian experiences; it is also to understand whether we can speak of a purely feminine vision and writing for Italian travel.

Lyrická linie sicilských prozaiků 20. století. Mytický realismus Elia Vittoriniho a jeho pokračování v dílech Bufalina, Bonaviriho a Consola / Lyrical line of the Sicilian prose writers of the 20th century. Mythical realism of Elio Vittorini and its continuation in works by Bufalino, Bonaviri and Consolo

Baroni, Sarah January 2018 (has links)
(in English) The aim of this thesis is to analyse thoroughly the mythical approach and lyrical aspects in the writings of Elio Vittorini and subsequently to find the continuation of these tendencies in works by Vincenzo Consolo, Giuseppe Bonaviri and Gesualdo Bufalino. At first we briefly described the approach of mythical realism in the Italian and Sicilian literature of 20th century as a literary topos. Afterwards we focused on the individual authors who were already shortly introduced in biographical portraits, then we made the analyses of chosen novels of those four writers where we focused on the mythical and symbolical motives and the lyrical tendencies of their prose. In conclusion we made a comparative according to the results of our previous analyses and we shortly evaluated the image of Sicily emerging from literary output of those chosen authors.
